Dear Remus,
Well, the schoolyear has begun and I have finally arrived. I'm two days later than the students, so I didn't get to see the Hogwarts Express arrive as I'd hoped. It probably wouldn't have been a good idea to look anyway, with the Dementors all over Hogwarts and Hogsmeade. I'm in the Shrieking Shack right now, where we spent so many nights at Hogwarts, writing with some parchment and quills I managed to get my hands on at Hogsmeade. I'll try to lay low and just gather more information about the current situation before doing anything. I might go to Hogsmeade a few more times, to convince the villagers that I'm just some stray who hangs around there sometimes. They might even give me food. Gah, having some real food would be amazing.
I came across a red cat when I walked around for a bit. It reminded me of the cat Lily and James used to have, but that's impossible, of course. Still, I wonder what happened to that cat. I'll try to befriend this one; I can use some company, even if it's an animal. I'm not too human-y either at the moment.
I also found a Daily Prophet from a few days ago, and you know what it said, in a small corner of page seven? That you are the new DADA teacher! Congrats! I can barely believe it, Moony is a professor! I'm so happy for you. It must be great to be back there. How much I wouldn't give to be able to walk through those doors as a free man, just once more.
Love, Sirius
