Back with ANOTHER chapter, this one…baby Spencer related! Enjoy!
Monday Afternoon
Shawn walked into the SBPD Monday afternoon to bring Juliet to lunch. He walked through the holding cells and went to Juliet's desk, but didn't see her there. He went and ventured around the station and still didn't see her.
Shawn sighed and went to check Karen's office.
Shawn knocked on the door.
"Come in." Karen said.
Shawn opened the door, looked around, and then up at Karen.
"Can I help you, Mr. Spencer?" Karen asked.
"Have you seen a cute little blonde? She's about 5'3", goes by Juliet Spencer." Shawn asked.
"She went home."
"For?"
"Baby related…"
"What does that mean?"
"She went home because the baby is messing with her."
"She's only 9 weeks along, how much damage could that thing do?"
"A lot. Now go home, I will call you if we need help. Go take care of your wife."
"Thank you."
Shawn left Karen's office and then ran to his car. He hopped in his car and drove to his house.
Shawn pulled in the driveway and saw his mom there. He got out of the car and went inside.
The alarm beeped when the door opened.
"Hey baby." Juliet greeted.
Shawn walked through the foyer and saw his mom sitting next to Juliet on the couch.
"Hey sweetheart, why didn't you call me?" Shawn asked.
"I did."
"No you didn't…"
"Check your phone."
Shawn took out his phone and saw 5 missed calls and 10 texts from Juliet.
"I'm sorry." Shawn apologized.
"It's ok. How was your day?" Juliet asked.
"It was good until I went to the station to take you to lunch and Karen said you were sick."
Juliet held out her arms and Shawn sat down on the couch and kissed Juliet on the cheek.
"I'm sorry sweetie. Where were we going for lunch?" Juliet asked.
"Well we were going to have a picnic on the beach." Shawn explained.
"Well, just tuck that idea in the back of your mind."
Shawn smiled.
Shawn turned to his mom, "Hi mom. Sorry I didn't greet you sooner."
"It's ok. How are you?" Maddie asked.
"Good. What are you doing here?"
"Christmas. There's 3 days left."
"I know."
"What are you two doing?"
"Karen and her family are coming over, Gus, and the Lassiters."
"Your father?"
"No, not at the moment."
"Why not?"
Shawn sighed, "I don't want him here. Not until he apologizes."
"What did he do now?"
"The whole wedding thing. I also asked him if he was happy for me getting married and having a baby and he said that he didn't know."
"Your father said that?"
"Yes."
Maddie looked at Juliet and Juliet nodded.
"Well, you're grown, I'm not going to tell you what to do."
"What about you mom?"
"What about me?"
"Are you happy for us?"
"Of course I am. I may not be a constant presence in your life, which I am trying to change that, but Shawn you're my baby, my only baby."
Shawn smiled, "Thanks mom. What were you and Juliet talking about before I walked in?"
"The wedding."
"What about it?"
"She was saying how nice you looked in your suit." Juliet said.
"Thanks mom. We should have the pictures in a couple of days."
"Have you gotten Juliet a gift?"
"Yes."
"When did you do that?" Juliet asked.
"I got yours right after we got engaged."
"Hm…"
"Shawn, are you playing that guessing game with Juliet this year?"
"Hell no he isn't. I like my presents to be a surprise. His sneaky ass knows too much." Juliet said.
Shawn laughed.
"What's so funny, Spencer?"
"You!"
Juliet rolled her eyes.
A few seconds later Juliet got up and ran to the bathroom.
"Excuse me mom." Shawn said.
Maddie nodded.
Shawn ran after Juliet and grabbed her hair and pulled it in a clip.
"You ok, sweetheart?" Shawn whispered.
Juliet nodded.
Shawn rubbed Juliet's back.
Shawn got up and got Juliet a cup of water to rinse her mouth out and some mouthwash.
"Thanks." Juliet whispered.
"Of course. How long have you been like this?" Shawn asked.
"Since this morning."
"Why didn't you tell me?"
"I thought it was morning sickness. I feel awful."
"Want me to tell my mom to go?"
"Do you mind?"
"Of course not."
"Thank you."
Shawn kissed Juliet on the top of her head and went and talked to his mom.
"Hey mom." Shawn said.
"She's not feeling good?" Maddie asked.
"No. She thought it was morning sickness, but it's something else."
"Do you guys need anything?"
"Let me go ask her."
Maddie nodded.
Shawn took off to the bathroom and saw Juliet lying on the floor.
"Jules!" Shawn yelled.
Shawn shook her and she didn't respond.
"Mom!" Shawn yelled.
Maddie came running into the bathroom.
"Go unlock my car and open the doors." Shawn instructed.
Maddie ran down the hall and unlocked Shawn's doors and opened them.
Shawn picked up Juliet and ran as best as he could to the car. He put Juliet in the passenger seat and buckled her up.
"Mom, go to our bedroom, look in the 3rd and 4th drawer and grabbed Juliet one of my t-shirts and a pair of my gym shorts." Shawn said.
"Meet you there?" Maddie asked.
Shawn nodded.
Shawn got in the car and drove to the ER. On his way there he called the Emergency Department
"ER Department." the nurse answered.
"Hey my wife is pregnant with our first child and she passed out on the bathroom floor. We are 5 minutes away." Shawn said.
"Ok, what's your name?"
"Shawn Spencer, it's my wife Juliet Spencer."
"Ok, I will have a nurse waiting for you outside."
"Thank you."
Shawn hung up the phone and a few minutes later, pulled up to the nurse.
The nurse opened the door and Shawn put Juliet on the stretcher.
"Go park, I have her." the nurse said.
"Are you sure?" Shawn asked.
"100%."
Shawn nodded and got back in his car. He drove around the parking lot for 10 minutes before he found a spot.
Shawn got out of the car and ran inside the ER and went up to the nurse's desk.
"What's the name?" the nurse asked.
"Juliet Spencer." Shawn said out of breath.
"She's in Room 6. You can't go in there yet. They are doing tests."
"Ok. Thanks."
Shawn went and sat down in the chairs.
Maddie Spencer walked in the ER and found Shawn.
"Shawn." Maddie whispered.
Shawn popped his head up and got up and hugged his mom.
"She's going to be ok." Maddie said.
"I need her to be ok. I need her." Shawn cried.
Maddie put the bag in the empty chair next to Shawn and then sat down on the other side of Shawn.
"How long were you at the house until I got there?" Shawn asked.
"Maybe an hour and a half." Maddie answered.
"Did Jules eat at all during that time?"
"No. She didn't drink any water either."
"That's weird. She normally has a granola bar around that time and she drinks water all day too."
Shawn sat back in his chair and crossed his arms thinking what could be wrong with Juliet.
10 minutes later, a nurse came out and called Shawn's name.
"Mr. Spencer?" the nurse asked the room of people.
Shawn stood up and walked over to her.
"How is she?" Shawn asked.
"She's up and asking for you." the nurse said.
The nurse walked Shawn to Juliet's room.
Shawn got to the door and turned to the nurse, "What was wrong with her?"
"Dehydration and has she eaten today?" the nurse asked.
"I don't know. I haven't seen her today."
"Well her blood pressure and blood sugar were low, so I'm guess that's what caused her to pass out."
"Ok, thank you. Do you know when we can go home?"
"Her OB is coming up to check on the baby, so after that."
Shawn nodded, "Thank you so much."
"Of course."
Shawn stood in Juliet's door way and looked at her sleeping. He walked in the room quietly and shut the door. He walked over to her bedside and took her hand.
"Hey baby." Shawn whispered.
Juliet squeezed back and smiled, "Hey."
"You feeling better?"
"A little. How's the baby?"
"I don't know. Your OB should be up here in a little bit to check."
Juliet nodded.
Juliet looked at Shawn and saw all the color drained out of his face.
"Baby are you ok?" Juliet asked.
"Yeah, why wouldn't I be?" Shawn asked.
"All the color in your face is gone."
"Oh yeah. You just scared me."
"I'm sorry."
"Why haven't you eaten anything today?"
"I haven't been hungry."
"You also haven't drank any water."
"I just wasn't thirsty."
"You're not telling me something."
"What do you think I'm not telling you?"
"There's something wrong."
Juliet grabbed Shawn's hand, "Would I ever keep something that important from you?"
Shawn shook his head.
"Shawn, I'm fine. In a few minutes, the doctor will be in here checking on the baby and then we get to go home."
Shawn nodded, "My mom is in the waiting room, do you want to see her?"
"Sure."
Shawn kissed Juliet, "I'm so glad you're ok."
Juliet put her hands on Shawn's face, "I am too. You're not getting rid of me that easily."
"I don't want to get rid of you at all. I can't live without you."
"I can't live without you either."
"I love you sweet Jules."
Juliet pulled Shawn in for a kiss when there was a knock on the door.
Shawn pulled away and opened the door.
Juliet's OB, Dr. Green, walked in.
"Hey Juliet." Dr. Green said.
Juliet sat up, "Hey."
"What's going on?"
"I passed out. I was sick all day today and I haven't been hungry or thirsty, so I ended up not eating or drinking anything today."
"That's most likely the reason. But let me do a quick look at the baby and let you two get home."
Shawn stepped over to Juliet and held her hand.
Dr. Green did the ultrasound.
"The heartbeat is strong, everything looks good." Dr. Green confirmed.
"Thank you so much." Juliet said.
"Shawn, make sure she eats and drinks."
"She's really good about that. She drinks water all day and she eats little snacks throughout the day." Shawn said.
"Are they healthy snacks?"
"Yes. She doesn't eat my crap."
Dr. Green laughed, "Well, you two have a Merry Christmas and a good honeymoon. Juliet, when you get back home and settled, make your next appointment."
"Sounds good." Juliet said.
"Thank you, you don't know how much I needed this." Shawn said.
"Of course. You two have a safe honeymoon." Dr. Green said.
"You ready baby?" Shawn asked.
"Yep. Can we get some ice cream on the way home?" Juliet asked.
"Of course."
Juliet got out of the bed and grabbed Shawn's hand and they walked out into the waiting room.
Juliet saw Maddie, Henry, Karen, Gus, and Carlton all sitting there waiting for them.
"Hey guys." Shawn said.
Everyone got up and ran over to Juliet.
"Step back!" Shawn fussed.
Everyone stepped back and went one at a time.
Henry took Shawn over to the side, "How is she?"
"She's ok. She's been really sick today." Shawn said.
"I'm glad."
"Oh and dad, thank you for being here."
Shawn pulled Henry in for a hug.
Juliet saw Henry and Shawn hug and smiled.
Everyone checked on Juliet and Shawn was ready to go.
Shawn went up to Juliet and pulled on her hand.
"Well thank you for coming guys. It means a lot to me and Shawn." Juliet said.
"Of course. We're your family." Henry said.
Juliet smiled.
Henry went up to Juliet, "I'm sorry."
"I know." Juliet said.
Juliet gave Henry a hug and then went with Shawn.
Maddie ran after Shawn and gave him his bag.
"Thanks mom." Shawn said.
Maddie nodded and waved goodbye.
Shawn and Juliet walked to the car.
Juliet got in the car and put her seatbelt on and sighed as Shawn was getting in.
"You ok, love?" Shawn asked.
"Yeah. I say you drop me off at home and you go to the store and get ice cream." Juliet said.
"I am not leaving you at home. We are going right now."
"As long as we get ice cream."
"Can't forget about that."
"That's what the baby wants."
"Oh really?"
"Yeah, we have conversations all day."
"How many are about me?"
"The occasional."
"Occasional? Baby Spencer, this is your father speaking, I hope you're ready to meet us because we're ready to meet you. Stop making mommy feel so bad."
Juliet laughed.
Shawn bent over and kissed Juliet on her belly.
Shawn left the hospital parking lot and went and got ice cream.
20 minutes later, Shawn pulled into the garage and got out and helped Juliet out and onto the couch. He ran back outside to grab the ice cream and shut the garage. He walked back inside and saw Juliet curled back up in her blanket.
"How many scoops, Jules?" Shawn asked.
"Did you get a pint?" Juliet asked.
"Yeah."
"Give me the whole thing."
Shawn grabbed a spoon and stuck it in the ice cream and brought it over to Juliet.
"Did you get any?" Juliet asked.
"Yeah, it's in the freezer." Shawn said.
"What kind did you get?"
"Cookie dough."
"Can we trade?"
"No, you already dug into yours."
"C'mon…please baby?"
"Fine."
Shawn took Juliet's cookies and cream ice cream and went and got his cookie dough instead. He walked back in the living room and handed it to Juliet.
"You're the best husband in the world." Juliet said.
"Thank you." Shawn said.
Shawn put his arm around Juliet and pulled her closer. He draped his arm close to Juliet's hand and grabbed a spoon of ice cream and shoved in his mouth.
"Not cool, Spencer!" Juliet fussed.
"It was my ice cream to start with." Shawn defended.
"But I'm pregnant."
"I'm going to be hearing a lot of that aren't I?"
"Get used to it baby."
Shawn playfully rolled his eyes and opened his mouth for another spoonful.
Juliet gave him a second spoonful and then cut him off.
"No more." Juliet said.
"Ok." Shawn said.
Shawn kissed Juliet and then her belly and then wrapped her in his arms.
They sat back and watched TV the rest of the day.
