Chapter 11:

Back at the Beginning/ The Sun Does Indeed Shine 1 ½

Narrator POV:

A sunrise began to rise over a wild west-like terrain. Then a whinny of the leader fills the sky with its sound, thus calling all Mammagriffs and other assorted creatures to The Great Red Barn, where the leader and his family reside.

Then The Three Friends entered the background with Bucky leading the way and Mort and Bess following behind him. Then you hear their voices in the background.

Mort { Speaking in the background }: Okay, so now we're back at the beginning right, guys?

Bess { Speaking in the background }: That's right, Mort. We're back at the beginning of the story.

Bucky { Speaking in the background } And here's how it really begins…

Bucky POV:

At last, things were looking up for us. We had the sun rising on our shoulders, the wind blowing in our hair and spines, and a song in our hearts. While we were walking happily, I felt a droplet on my nose. At first, I thought it was rain but when we looked up, we realized it wasn't rain but a drooling Caninegriff standing above us on a rock ridge.

Then you hear the Male Chorus in the background.

( You Ain't Home On The Range Music )

Male Chorus: Out in the land a long time ago,

Long before you were even born.

Out in the land of the desperado.

If yer soft as an avocado, Yee-haw, your guacamole's torn.

Tale, Tale, this is a tale now.

Tale, Tale, this is a tale now.

We screamed and ran as the Caninegriff snaps his jaws missing us. Then we ran up a hill as a herd of Mammagriffs was going down the hill. Bess and I quickly turned but Mort kept running with the Caninegriff right on his tail. But then Bess and I ran as a herd of Eqqugriffs came and ran behind us. Bess's tail got caught in their hooves and I was slingshot by one in the air.

Male Chorus { Singing }: Tale, Tale.

Better get ready for you about to hear a tale.

Out in the land full of amazing creatures,

Some are strong and others are meek.

Different creatures with different features and this story will be ready in the future.

Yee-haw! Get ready to seek.

Because this is the tale that you might read at the creek.

Tale, Tale, this is a tale now.

Tale, Tale, this is a tale now.

Tale, Tale, this is a tale now.

I landed in a nest filled with owl chicks and they started pecking me as I jumped up and ran away from their nest with the mother still chasing me and pecking me. I quickly turned and hid behind a large rock. But it was later revealed to be a small stone and hiding with me was Bess and Mort. Then we felt the ground shaking and looked ahead to see a herd of Mammagriffs coming towards us. We screamed as we tried to get out of their way. After they passed us, we see that they're heading in the same direction we're going.

So Bess and I rid on Mort's head and followed them.

And it's a good thing that Mort protected us from them.

( At The Reading Area )

Mort { Speaking To Bucky }: Uh, Bucky, you do know that all we did was running from those obstacles, right?

Bess { Speaking to Mort }: Mort, darling. What Bucky is saying is a compliment.

Mort { Chuckling }: Oh, well, thank you.

Bess { Speaking }: Now where were we?...

Bess POV:

A few hours later, we walked to the top of a hill and gasped in excitement as we looked ahead and saw our destination.

The Great Red Barn!

Bucky, Mort, and I looked at the place with a smile on our faces.

Then we hear a female singer in the background.

( Little Patch Of Heaven Music )

Female Singer: Oh, The Sun Does Indeed Shine!

And it'll keep on shining to keep the gray stormy clouds away.

Yes, in a place that we all call…

Then Mort ran with us riding on him to The Great Red Barn as Bucky cheered and exclaimed " There it is, y'all, The Great Red Barn!".

" Oh, boy, we're almost there!" I said also excitedly.

But as we almost reached The Great Red Barn, we gasped in shock and Mort stopped. Below us, we see that a large crowd of Mammagriffs have surrounded The Great Red Barn.

" Uh, guys. I think we're a little late," said Mort.

" It's a land rush," said Bucky.

" I don't understand. The Quaggagriff gave us the direction. What went wrong?" I asked.

" Well, it looks like that Quaggagriff must've blabbed it to the whole west," said Bucky.

" Hang on, what exactly did the Quaggagriff say?" asked Mort.

I closed my eyes and began to meditate as I said " Like a Bee, to find the flower. You must Look Beyond What You See,".

" Maybe what she means is that we have to look beyond The Great Red Barn," said Mort suggesting an idea.

" Hey, yeah," I said agreeing with him.

" I got a much better idea. Why don't we look beyond The Great Red Barn," said Bucky.

Mort grunted in confusion for he knows he thoughted of that idea and I looked at Bucky with shock and shook my head in embarrassment for he stolen Mort's idea. Then Bucky said " Now let's have a little look shall we?".

I rolled my eyes and we all started looking beyond what we see as we said in unison " Beyond What We See,".

We looked beyond what we see. Beyond The Great Red Barn and the crowd of Mammagriffs, in the background, Zecora walked up to the ledge and hold up something in the air for the crowd to see. Then I saw something that caught my attention. Behind The Great Red Barn, there's a garden with a small house and full of different flowers.

" Guys, I think I found us a perfect home," I said looking at our new home.

" Hey, guys look at that," said Mort pointing to a familiar Quaggagriff.

Bucky and I looked at what Mort was looking at and I laughed with joy for I recognized her.

" Hey, that's the Quaggagriff I was telling you guys about," I exclaimed.

" What's that she's holding up?" asked Mort.

I looked at what Mort was looking at but it was hard for me to figure it out.

" I'm not sure, Mort, maybe we should get closer," I said.

" Forget it guys, it's nothing important. Come on, my dream home awaits," said Bucky as he jumps off of Mort's head and leads the way to " his" dream home.

Mort followed behind him while I was still riding on him. But appearing in our way is the crowd of Mammagriffs. Mort saw the crowd in front of us and was surprised and frightened at how big they are compared to him.

Mort POV:

" Uh-oh," I said.

" What's wrong, Mort?" asked Bess realizing that I stopped.

" Nothing, it's just...I don't do so well in crowds. Can we go around?" I asked as I backed up from the crowd.

" Mort, our dream home is a straight line. We're going straight," said Bucky as he grabs my snout and pulls me into the crowd.

Meanwhile, everyone in the crowd was enjoying their time at the ceremony until something kept pushing them aside or should I say, someone. Moving between them, Bucky and Bess were moving as Bucky shoved and lightly pushed them away.

" Make room, make room, I'm walking here," said Bucky rudely as he walks through the crowd.

Bess was slithering behind him and smiled embarrassedly at everyone telling them "sorry" about his behavior. As for me, well I was walking behind them as we walked through the crowd. But I had a frightened and nervous look on my face as I looked at how the other Mammagriffs looked at me with angered looks on their faces. It made me nervous. Then as I kept walking, I felt a rumble down my stomach.

I knew what it means and I quickly sat down and crossed my forelimbs. I then called out to Bucky and Bess who were ahead of me and said as they looked back " Hey, guys. There's something I gotta tell ya,".

" Mort, Mort, Mort. we'll have plenty of time to chat once we settle in," said Bucky as he came and pulled my snout again and got me walking again.

Bess POV:

As we kept walking, I for some reason began to remember someone telling me about Dasygriffs like Mort once. Then another rumble was heard from Mort's stomach.

" I could really use a stop right about now," said Mort as released his snout and began to run out of the crowd.

But Bucky grabbed his snout again and said " Don't worry Mort, you'll get your second wind,".

" But I have a really bad feeling!" whimpered Mort as he started sweating like crazy.

" It'll pass Mort. Trust us, Mort. It'll pass," said Bucky as Mort then tried to hop out of the crowd.

Then my eyes widen in surprise and shock for I now remembered and looked back to see Bucky near Mort. Then I jumped at him and yelled as Bucky grabbed Mort's tail " Bucky Get Down!".

As Bucky pulled Mort's tail, Mort bellowed out as an Okapiagriff bellowed out in fright for Mort has released one thing…

Mort POV:

GAS!

Narrator POV:

Everyone in the crowd passed out from Mort's gas and collapsed to the ground. Two Giraffagriffs collapsed to the ground and so did the little birds. Two Bovigriffs also collapsed to the ground. In front of them, however, in a herd of Eqqugriffs, one member looks behind them and thought they might be bowing to the new leader.

" Hey, look the Bovigriffs are bowing," he said to the leader of their herd.

" Oh, then we better bowed too," said the leader as he and his herd bowed to the new leader.

( Scene from the Original Story )

Female Singer: Yes in a world that we all call home...

Then all the Mammagriffs of The Great Farmlands from Eqqugriffs to Okapiagriffs to Giraffagriffs and all critters alike began to bow down to their new heir of the barn. One by one.

While Zecora was still holding little David up, Chanticleer and Buttercup saw the crowd bowing down and became puzzled. They have never seen anything like this happened before in their life. Patou chuckled and said as they looked over to him " Well, would you look at that? They've kneeled before the loyal son,".

Chanticleer and Buttercup smiled at him for that compliment.

( Scene from the Orginal Story )

Chanticleer and Buttercup watched with pride as Zecora held their newborn son in the air for everyone to see.

Female Singer: For Indeed The Sun Does Indeed Shine!
