Chapter 27: Valentine's Day!
"Up first, we have Daisy!" Teacher Elma announced. The class started applauding. She's really become popular with everyone. Daisy walked up on stage.
Remember, this is Pokémon Showcase class. May has this class with Dawn. Teacher Elma assigned a project to the class to create their own showcase freestyle performance using 3 Pokémon and relating the performance to love. May's 3 Pokémon that she decided to use are Sylveon, Kirlia, and Beautifly. May's stands on center stage, Sylveon to her right, Kirlia to her left, and Beautifly above her. She has a bright smile on her face. She's proud of how her routine came out and now she'll show it to the class.
May took a deep breath. Music started playing. May chose this pop love song for her performance.
(The song is "Oxygen" from Teen Beach Movie. No one sings it in this chapter, but you can listen to the full version on YouTube as you read.)
"We got this. Sylveon, use Fairy Wind." May said. "Kirlia, Psychic!"
As the music plays, May dances around. Sylveon started dancing and jumping along the edges of the stage, leaving a trail of pink, sparkling dust as it jumps. Beautifly would fly and dance around May. They danced in the middle, surrounded by pink dust. Kirlia would spin like a ballerina. Kirlia's eyes glowed blue and she used Psychic on the Fairy Wind, making it spiral around May and Beautifly.
May stopped dancing. "Beautifly, Morning Sun!"
Beautifly flew up higher and used Morning Sun. Beautifly's wings are glowing yellow and rays of light are shining on the small audience. Everyone watched in awe of May's performance so far. The Morning Sun also seemed to make the Fairy Wind sparkle even more.
"Now Sylveon, Moonblast!" May ordered.
This is when Kirlia stopped using Psychic and she started to leap and dance around the stage like a ballerina. May continued dancing around as well. Sylveon hopped to center stage and looked up. A pink orb of energy formed in front of her mouth and Sylveon released it towards the sky.
"Silver Wind, Beautifly!"
Beautifly flew above the pink ball of energy and used Silver Wind directly down at it. The pink orb slowly decreased in size as pink sparkles emanated from it, slowly falling down on May, Kirlia, and Sylveon. The orb completely disappeared into pink sparkles.
"Sylveon!" May called as she ran towards the right side of the stage. Sylveon stayed in center stage and she stretched her feelers to where May is.
May jumped up when she reached the edge of the stage. Sylveon wrapped her feelers around May's body and held her up. Sylveon started moving May through the Fairy Wind. May's body is like she's ice skating. She's flying through the Fairy Wind and she's laughing too. She seems to be having a lot of fun.
"Wow…" Dawn breathed. "She looks just like a fairy…"
Sylveon brought May back to center stage. "Now use Attract!" May ordered.
Sylveon used Attract to create one giant heart, floating in the middle of the stage above May.
"Magical Leaf!"
Kirlia stopped dancing and faced the giant heart. She used Magical Leaf on it and it shattered into a million smaller hearts, raining down on the stage.
"Moonblast and Psybeam!"
Sylveon launched a Moonblast upward and Kirlia launched a Psybeam at it in the sky. The rainbow Psybeam made contact with the pink orb of energy and exploded it, creating billions of rainbow sparkles that are falling down on them.
May, Sylveon, Kirlia, and Beautifly all bow as the sparkles fall on them, signaling the end of the performance. The class started applauding and cheering loudly. They stood up straight again.
"What a wonderful performance by Daisy!" Teacher Elma said. "You may take your seat now."
May returned her Pokémon and got off of the stage. She sat down next to Dawn.
"You were amazing!" Dawn exclaimed.
"Thanks." May/Daisy said.
"Hopefully I'll be that good." Dawn said.
"Princess, you have some guests." A royal guard said from the doorway.
May looked up. "Bring them in."
The royal guard backed away and two people wearing lab coats, a male and a female, entered May's room.
"Can I help you with something?" May asked.
"Yes. We came here because we saw this poster." The male person said as he lifted up the poster in his hand to show May. "You see...Amaura got separated from us."
May gasped. "You're the scientists Amaura was talking about!" She said excitedly.
"Amaura...talked about us?" The female scientist questioned.
May shook her head. "Umm...forget what I said." She got off of her bed. "I've been hoping that Amaura's trainer would come by. I'll take you to him."
"So you keep Amaura here?" The male scientist said as they started walking out of the room and down the hall. The scientists are following May.
"Yep. Amaura made a lot of new friends since he's been here." May said.
"Wow. That sounds amazing." The female said.
"Thank you, Princess, for taking care of him." The male said.
"No problem. I find it as my job to help anyone who needs helping, people and Pokémon alike." May said.
They walk outside to the backyard. May leads them further into the grassy field and they see Amaura with Ninetales and Ponyta, playing around.
"My Ninetales has been protecting Amaura. She cools him down, so he doesn't get sick. And she has been making sure no one hurts him." May said.
"That's so sweet." The female said.
"Amaura!" The male called.
Amaura and Ponyta stop playing. Amaura looks towards the voice. He then runs happily towards May and the scientists. They stop walking.
The male scientist kneels down and hugs Amaura as soon as he gets to him. "I'm glad you're safe." He pulled away from Amaura.
"We found him hurt, so we brought him here to the castle to get healed." May said. "He's really become great friends with the other Pokémon."
"Thank you for taking such good care of him." The female said.
"Amaura, are you ready to go back to the lab?" The male scientist said.
"Maura!" Amaura said happily.
"Okay then. You'll need to say goodbye to your friends."
Amaura turned around. "Maura!" She yelled goodbye to them. They all waved bye and said their names sadly but yet happily.
"Take care Amaura. I'll miss you." May said. Amaura nuzzled his head into May's leg.
"Let's get going now." The male said as he stood up. "Thank you again, Your Highness."
The scientists started leaving, Amaura walking next to them. May exhaled. ("Maybe we'll see each other again sometime…")
It's Friday. But it's more than that. It's also Valentine's Day. It's also the day of the auditions for the Spring Play. May/Daisy walks on campus and she immediately sees a bunch of red and pink. Boys are giving girls flowers and chocolates and even stuffed animals. May starts walking towards the gang but gets stopped.
"Daisy, will you be my Valentine?"
"I got you some chocolates!"
"Will you accept these roses from me?"
"Umm…" May replied.
"Even if you don't want to be my Valentine, you can still accept my gift of chocolates!"
"Yeah, and my roses!"
"We just want to know that you accepted them!"
"Umm...okay." May said. She took a heart-shaped box of chocolates from a fanboy. "I'm not accepting roses." She told the boy with roses. She then accepted a smaller box of chocolates from the last fanboy.
"Aww man...if I see you again during school, I'll give you something different." The boy with the roses said. They all left. May sighed.
"Fans…"
Drew is currently walking toward the gang. He's carrying a box of chocolates and smelling a single red rose. Until...he gets stopped.
"Drew, who's the rose for?"
"Will you accept these chocolates from me?"
"I'm sure whoever you ask to be your Valentine will be beautiful...like me!"
"Umm...yes, she's beautiful, but…" Drew said as he started walking past the fangirls. "It's someone else." With that said, he walked away from his fans.
"But Drew…!"
"Are you sure you're asking the right person?"
"Maybe it's a mistake!"
Drew made it to the gang before May. He sighed.
"Ooh...Who's the rose for?" Dawn asked excitedly.
Drew smiled. "Someone."
Gary smirked. "Are you confirming that you have a crush on Daisy?"
Drew blushed slightly. "She's...not a crush. She's just a friend."
"A friend that you'll ask to be your Valentine?" Paul questioned.
"Fine." Drew mumbled. "Maybe I have a small crush on Daisy."
Dawn squealed. "You two are perfect for each other!"
"But...I don't think she'll say yes to being my Valentine because of her parents." Drew said.
"That's true…" Misty said. "She did say that her parents won't allow her to date anyone."
"But why…?" Dawn asked. "She's fifteen and they don't let her? They must be strict parents."
"Hey guys." May/Daisy said.
They all saw that Daisy finally got here. Drew quickly hid the box of chocolates behind his back and he made the rose disappear into his pocket. They all notice the boxes of chocolates in her hands.
"Umm...what's with all of those?" Dawn asked.
"Fans." May answered.
"Ohh…" Misty said. "And...none of them are your Valentine, right?"
May shook her head. "No. They said even though I said no, they still want me to accept their gifts, so here we are." May added as she looked down at the chocolates. "Oh. And I didn't accept roses." She looked up. "Too romantic from a fan."
"Understandable." Dawn said. She elbowed Drew in the side softly. Drew looked at Dawn. "Ask her." She whispered.
"What? I can't." Drew whispered back.
"Yes you can. Now do it." Dawn whispered.
"Umm...guys?" May questioned. "What are you whispering about?"
Drew and Dawn looked at May. "Nothing." Drew said. "Nothing at all."
"Okay…" May said. She took her backpack off and kneeled down to the ground, opening it. She started putting the boxes of chocolates inside.
"Come on Drew." Dawn whispered. "Do it now."
Drew sighed. "Fine." He pulled out a rose, reached out, and dropped it.
The rose landed perfectly in May's backpack. It's standing up on its stem. May looked at it and blushed before Drew could even say anything. May took it out and stood up.
"Drew, did you drop this on accident?" May asked.
"I umm…" Drew said.
"You...what?" May asked.
The gang was all staring at Drew, waiting for him to ask her.
Drew took a deep breath. "I meant to drop that rose, and…" He pulled out the heart-shaped box of chocolates from behind his back and held them out to May. "Ask you to be my Valentine?" He finished.
May blushed again. Drew's always good with being romantic. And she liked that about him. She stared at the box and then up at Drew.
"Listen…I know that your parents won't let you date anyone, but…" Drew said. "I had to ask."
May smiled and took the box out of Drew's hands. "Thank you Drew...for asking, but you're right." Her smile faded. "I'm not allowed to date anyone. And this...kind of feels like you want me to say yes to…"
"Oh. No." Drew shook his head. "I'm not asking you to be my girlfriend. Just...accept the gifts."
May nodded and smiled. "I'll accept the rose since it's from you."
Drew blushed slightly and looked away. Drew sighed mentally. ("If only...we could be together for real, and...you're actually the girl I've been searching for.")
