Hi.

This was a fun read, and i felt like you gave a nod to Empire (movie 5 or 2, depending) with Leia's reaction to the malfunction, as her father gives the same line in his battle with Luke on Bespin :)

On a different note, i also felt somewhat cheated by the ending of movie 9, so it's good that you have both Ben and Rey alive after the last scene where they are both alive in that movie. I will certainly look forward to them growing closer now that the galaxy isn't in that much immediate danger :p

PS: I'm living too far north to give you native penguins, but you can have a polar bear from Svalbard if you have a walk-in-freezer big enough to keep it.

I enjoyed this and am excited for more. Surprise is a powerful tool, but only once. Of course, if one of them finds themselves in a fight of some sort and the other one finds themselves in an armory or something, that sounds like a fun fight. Suddenly, a blaster. And now, a thermal detonator or twenty. I definitely agree that a single-bladed lightsaber, or even two, just isn't her. Dark!Rey had a really cool, fitting weapon. I hope you have her recreate it.

interested to see what you do in Star Wars. with them name dropping Skywalker and Solo, I can't imagine they'll be keeping the time travel quiet for very long. would be interesting to see Rey and Ben portrayed as more grey Jedi instead of the more traditional Jedi from the prequels. also really looking forward to seeing what else you do with Ben and Rey's ability to transfer objects between each other.

Hi.

Whelp, good thing that future was destroyed... Wouldn't want a rerun of of that sequel trilogy :p Probably just my Mass Effect flashback playing while typing this. On the other hand, from the perspective of that future, Ben and Rey are now actively destroying the past :D Looks like Kylo got his wish granted.

Also, interesting observations made by Vader and Sidious. Not sure about the whole 'bring them to the dark side or kill them' ideology, since factions of light and dark can coexist so long as they aren't hellbent on killing each other. Of course, the Sith have stacked the deck against themselves in that regard by actively trying to suppress and subjugate life in the galaxy, but orders like the Night Sisters and such can almost be considered benign in their own society.

As for wishes in future chapters? Ashoka being alive would be pretty neat, or perhaps the crew meeting up with Galen Marek (That guy from the Force Unleashed game)? Perhaps have the ghost of Qui-Gon train Ben and Rey because Yoda is too set in his ways? I can't really see Obi Wan doing that, as he and Yoda would have their hands full with the Skywalker twins. Perhaps the twins could develop some other unique force powers (Windu had Shatterpoint, etc), or have one of them turn dark to mirror Ben and Rey (I always envisioned them turning dark- and light-grey respectively if they both survived the last movie and got together).

Lovely chapter as always! Starry-eyed padawan wishes? I suppose for Ahsoka to be involved in this story in some way. I feel like she would be an excellent role model/teacher to Ben. Disney has a way of "tweaking" (read, driving a bulldozer through) the backstory of any series they acquire. I sympathize. I saw them do that to one of my favorite series twenty years ago, totally destroying any continuity between the original series and their...takeoff. And that doesn't even take into account what they did to the graphics (it was an animated series), morphing the characters out of believable shape, not to mention what they did to their physical attributes.

Yoda is ... mistaken about a great many things. Why the Jedi look up to him is beyond me, tbh. All of his advice to Anakin was terrible. He chilled out with Darth Sidious and never realized it. He continued to fight a war hundreds of years old, despite the Sith moving on and innovating. I really can't find it in me to have sympathy or respect for him.

And now, rather than teach those four, he calls them a disaster? He doesn't even bother looking for potential? Sorry, but Yoda is a worse leader, in many ways, than Dumbledore. And that's saying something. :)

But indeed, have some butterflies. Butterflies are great! (Mainly because they aren't caterpillars...)

Love how much fun Rey and Ben are having with their training :D I've actually been chuckling for about the last third of the chapter :) I'm hoping to see more of that in future chapters.

Also, interesting that both Sidious and Vader think that Rey is Ishan's sister. Perhaps time travel hasn't crossed their minds, or it appears too unlikely? Wonder how they will take it when the finally figure it out :p

Ishan. Wow wow. He got a name. And a personality, dreams and hope for the future. Even plot. Kudos.

And I, for some reason, cannot wait for a scene when Rey and Ben are forced (maybe/possibly/better not) to use the Dark Side to save someone, or each other. Like force lightning or extreme healing. Better before Vader. Best before Yoda, so he can get coronary too and so Obi-Wan won't feel lonely.

And Qui-Gon Jinn can laugh at them all.

More focus on Ben and Rey please.

And do remember that Ben had over 10 years experience as Kylo Ren, as Snoke(Palpatine)'s apprentice. Do not sell him out too bad, allow him to shine as well. Oh and Luke was a known Lightsaber prodigy, beating Vader with almost no training (even if Vader was holding back as he didn't want to hurt Padme's son).

Oh, and Leia would fit the juuyo/vaapad best, as she always had that Skywalker temper.

Ps. Please more fluff between Rey and Ben.

I think rey would be suited to using her grandfather's dueling style (like when he fought the jedi, and when he fought maul and savage oppress in clone wars. his ability to trounce two opponents who could out-muscle him might have been inspiring if he wasn't laughing manically the whole time) . when she fought kylo ren on starkiller base, that was basically her instinctual style with a sword.

Regarding Rey's form, how come it has not occured to Yoda that maybe Rey could use a lightsaber pike instead of a saber, like the ones used by the Jedi Temple Guards?

Of course Anakin never understood, the council in general never fully accepted him and actively tried to have him forget his own mother! Why would he believes the younglings were any better off than himself, who was nearly suicidal in his own actions, miserable and full of rage on the matter? Why would he believes in the Jedi so called brotherhood after what happened to Ahsoka, his first and only padawan, who was thrown out in a farce of a trial like dirty laundry for something she didn't even do?

Anakin wasn't too old to enter the order, he was too old for the order to truly let him in. They tried to have it both ways. But yes, the younglings deserved better and I will never not be uneasy about what happened to them.

I am honestly concerned with Obi-Wan... not forgiving Anakin, whom he barbecued ALIVE. I mean, not just alive, but after trying to lie about loving him like a brother. If he loved him so much, put him out of his misery.

Also, all this talk about the Order having feelings... HA, they certainly didn't care about faking Obi-Wan's death. Hell, they used his reaction to sell it.

I am gonna hammer the final nail in the coffin, and point out the Council scapegoating Ahsoka, while taking Bariss back. They viewed Ahsoka as "tainted", having been trained by Anakin, and decided she had to go so as to stop her from training anyone else.

The Council reaped what they sowed, they mistrusted Anakin, he mistrusted them back. Everything that happened, happened AFTER they acted. Cause, and then effect.

Well, technically humans are hackable. That's what advertising is for. :D

It's funny, though, I am totally for the Empire (and the Separatists, when that was a thing). Palps was scum, but he wasn't wrong. The Republic was a corrupt hotbed of tyranny, as evidenced by their fighting a civil war to compel the CIS to remain in the Republic for the sole purpose of feeding off of their money. I have nothing but contempt for the Republic, and if the Jedi Council weren't as thoroughly corrupt as the Empire, they would have stayed out of the conflict altogether. (As is probably obvious, I have nothing but contempt for the Jedi Council as well. Makes for some awesome storytelling, though, to be honest.)

The other problem with a Republic is the sheer size makes any kind of democratic rule essentially impossible. I mean, America can be divided into 6-8 "countries," if you want, and they have competing (and often mutually exclusive) goals and cultures. That is nothing on the galaxy, and we are all human. I can't imagine a system like the Republic working well.

As is obvious, I would make a terrible, contrarian Jedi. I think that's one reason I like Qui-Gon Jinn so much. He didn't care what the Council thought. I wonder what he would have made of the Clone Wars. He very likely would have refused to be a general altogether.

And it suddenly struck me: the Force is the personification of the bell curve! :D

Honestly, I have a hard time swallowing Anakin's redemption arc. I just don't see it. But then, I don't see going from chopping Windu's hand off to murdering children either. My headcanon is that Palps used some kind of Force mind control power to break Anakin after killing Windu. That's the only thing that makes sense, really. In which case, Vader *was* actually a different person than Anakin. So, could Anakin be reached? Maybe. But Vader? Nope. He was pure and utter evil.

And that bit about Luke falling to the dark side? Yes. It would have made the final trilogy worth watching. Luke is secretly a Sith, trains his nephew to be a Sith, and Han and Leia have to deal with that... That would have made a truly amazing story.

If nothing else the prequels certainly ruined Anakin's redemption to some degree. Far easier to forgive a monster if all you really know he did was serve as a General, torturer, and lap dog. Quite another thing after seeing he knowingly went off to slaughter a temple full of children.

Given Rey's experiences to this point in your story it is also easy to see why she would react this way to finding out as well.
