After making it back to the Tornado and after flying back to England, the first thing Sonic and Lara did before heading to the Cultural Museum in London was head to the nearest animal shelter with Tails' cat carrier.

Given that the ancient Senga Tabbies had been alone for centuries and the Yujunaka Temple was destroyed, it was time for the animals to be given some new homes and to be cared for again for the first time in millennia.

"Gosh damn!" Lara exclaimed as she and Sonic carried the cat carrier, "This sure does feel a bit heavy, considerin' that we've got up to about a hundred of these animals inside there and I think I can hear 'em mewing like mad."

The archeologist was right, despite the box's thick covering, Sonic could hear several meows and feel it shaking a bit as the hundreds of cats inside got antsier by the second, wanting to be let out for air.

"We'll let you out soon as we can, fur balls!" The hedgehog said in a nice assuring voice, "I promise you that, just hang in there, ok?"

"Mew meow mrow mew!" The cats replied.

Lara and Sonic found the London Animal Shelter, which was only a few blocks down from the Cultural Museum. When they got there, they bumped into the animal shelter's chairman Bulroy Peters.

"Ah, Lara." Bulroy exclaimed, "Its so good to see you again and, do my eyes deceive me, is that Sonic the Hedgehog?" He raised his glasses and chuckled, shaking the blue hero's gloved hands excitedly, "Its an honor to have you here."

"Thanks, Mr. Peters." Lara said, "Besides, we came by to drop off a group of cats that haven't been seen in centuries: Senga Tabbies."

"Senga Tabbies?" Bulroy was surprised, "The Ratakyans' favourite type of tabby cats that they created using unearthly sorcery? I've always wanted to see a Senga Tabby for myself. Where did you find them?"

"We found them in the Yujunaka Temple where the statue was," Sonic explained, "After thousands of years of being alone, they did not look good and they kinda look pale. In fact, we also got the statue."

"My word!" The head of the animal shelter proclaimed, "You have the statue? You must've also gotten the Ratakyan Keys in order to get inside the temple so you can get your hands on the statue itself."

"We did." Lara nodded, "And on the way, while we got the Underwater one, Sonic conquered his fear of the water with my help. They say hedgehogs can't swim but it looks like the people who thought so were gravely mistaken."

"By Jove!" Bulroy exclaimed again, grasping Sonic's hand, "So hedgehogs are capable of swimming, they just need to learn and not worry about the water. You are one of the first to prove the hedgehogs can't swim theory is false."

"Don't be so sure about that, Mr. Peters." The hedgehog remarked, "I'm sure there are other hedgehogs like me who've already proven the 'hedgehog's can't swim' statement really is a false assumption."

"Perhaps sometime you two can research who was the very first to prove to the world that hedgehogs could swim, if I recall correctly, it was Jacque Francois Hedgehog who showed the world that such an idea was laughable."

"When was that?"

"It was in, ah, the 1980s I think. Time has muddied the waters given the fact that the years fly and facts get lost and jumbled. Eh, no matter, may I see the little Senga Tabbies and how many of the creatures are there?"

"Ok, Peters." Sonic said, "Prepare yourself, there's about a hundred Senga Tabbies in this carrier and its bigger on the inside, Tails invented it after all and he did use advanced tech, this thing is futuristic technology after all."

"A HUNDRED!" Bulroy exclaimed, "You have a hundred Senga Tabbies. Well, thankfully I have a hundred empty cat cages inside. But how can I handle the meowing, when a hundred cats meow, its very loud and rattles the ear drums."

"Don't worry buddy, ya got ear muffs, right?"

"I have them on my head right now." Bulroy gestured to the fluffy muffs covering his ears, "Besides, even with them on, I can still hear. But it still does manage to block out specific loud sounds like loud dogs barking."

"Want us to open the carrier out here or inside?" Lara asked, "I think it would be a lot easier if we opened up and let out the cats inside, mostly to avoid the possibility of us going on a cat chase all over the city."

"Yeah, who wants that even though I'm super fast?" Sonic remarked, "I'm already a bit tired and wanna chill after going on an ancient treasure hunt, who wants to go after more ancient treasure when we just got some?"

The two adventurers followed Mr. Bulroy inside the animal shelter where they were greeted by the sounds of dogs barking and cats meowing inside their cages, one dog, a pug who was out of a cage, ran up to Sonic and licked him.

"This is my dog, Ember." Bulroy said sweetly, "I've had him for ages, he likes people, including cats and other dogs. If he sees somebody, he runs up and either licks you, bark like nuts or bite you playfully."

"Biting is a big, big no-no, man!" The blue blur remarked, trying to keep Ember the Pug from biting him, "No, doggy, no. No biting, nuh uh, do not bite. Hey, I said no biting. Stay down." Ember backed down. "Good boy."

"Can we let the cats out now?" Lara rolled her eyes, "We also have a statue to deliver to the museum." The blue hedgehog's eyes widened and he exclaimed, "Oh yeah, that's right. Best not forget, sorry about the distraction."

The two adventurers put down the large technological cat carrier and unzipped it, opening it up. In a heartbeat, the carrier began to shake and the floor started to rumble as if an earthquake was happening and then...

A huge swarm of multicolored Ratakyan Senga tabby cats came racing out of the bag, meowing and passing by cages full of cats and dogs, who watched with surprise at the sight of a hundred skinny ancient cats stampeding through.

The animals swarmed Mr. Bulroy, nearly knocking him off his feet. The cats meowed and purred so loudly, it rattled the bars on the animal cages and hurt the dogs' ears to a point where every dog in the animal shelter was howling.

It was so near deafening to hear this, Sonic had to cover his ears with ear muffs to make sure the meowing and barking didn't make him experience a slight, temporary loss of hearing or ear ringing-causing by rattled ear drums.

Despite the commotion, it wasn't too hard to get food for the Senga Tabbies and place most of them in separate cat cages. For the first time in years, the centuries old cats finally had a proper meal.

However, it would be a while before anybody would come in to adopt a Senga Tabby given that there were many dogs and many other cats that were here, waiting to be adopted, to be given a home and to be loved.

As for their immortality, it would linger for a long time, never fading. Once whomever owned one of the Senga Tabbies passed, a new owner would probably come in, adopt and raise that cat, eventually leave, rinse and repeat.

Sonic wasn't worried and neither was Lara, animals were animals after all and domesticated creatures could always look out for themselves for a while before they got new owners after a specific period of time.
