So I've looked back on some of the chapters and realized I had to re update chapter 4. There was still information on the older versions of chapters 1-3 so I had to cut some parts out. Also, thanks for the support in the comments. This timeline will eventually get into arc 3 so no worries. I'm happy to know some of you would like this version to be continued.

?: Watch your step. There are a couple of tree roots sticking out from the ground. Not sure where they're coming from...no trees nearby...

He held her hand tight as they neared their destination. She walks over the dead root in the ground carefully as to not trip over them. On a sunny day with the tall grass swaying in the light breeze, the two walked up a hill to the desired spot.

?: Here we are! It's nothing as special as before, but I thought this might catch your eyes also!

With complete joy and excitement plastered across her face, she rushes into the sunflower field and glides her hand around the yellow petals of the sunflower. He watches her in adoration of how she tenderly feels it's soft silky petals to its brown and bumpy core almost childlike.

?: Do you like it? These flowers are very popular in Japan so I figured it's the best spot for our date. I still owe it to you for a better outing, but this is the best I can do for now.

They had no scent to it whatsoever, but she still enjoyed them. Their beautiful light golden petals brighten from the sun's warm rays and it's seeded inner core was a dark rugged brown. She proceeds to the next flower eagerly feeling it's unique texture.

The boy puts his hand over his chest as he feels his heart flutter from this girl. He walks inside the field to a flower that stood tall from its thick green stem. He lightly grasps under its petals and examines it. It was a nostalgic feeling to look at these flowers. They weren't native to Japan, but it was very popular because of its unique design.

He turns his head to the girl as she happily glides her hands over the stems of each flower besides her on each side while walking away from him. He combs over his spiked hair and takes a step towards her. He really loves to see her in such a good mood.

?: I'm glad Nee-sama could finally forgive us...wait, did she? Ah, never mind that...still, you could always count on Natsuki Subaru to brighten your day!

Subaru points to himself with his thumb while he grins with upturned eyes. She doesn't acknowledge him, but she stops and turns to the next flower. She looked down and noticed a blue flower on the bottom near its root. She picks it and takes a sniff of its floral scent. Subaru puts his hands in his pockets and walks a little bit closer to her.

Subaru: It is nice to get out and go sightseeing once in a while. Maybe we should all go on vacation some time?

He puts a finger to his lip. There's still a lot he wants to explore in this new world. From the way it sounds from some of the books, there is a lot of history to this world. Probably a lot of tourist attractions as well.

Subaru: There's still more to the capital I want to tour, but maybe when we get back, we can arrange a trip! Sounds not too bad. Isn't that right, Rem?

She turns to face him while holding the blue flower to her chest. She smiles cheerfully in approval of spending more time with Subaru on these romantic dates in the capital. It was a living fantasy to be able to do these things with him.

The two were at a distance from each other in the tall field of sunflowers. There was a narrow path between them without anything blocking their view from each other. It was a perfect view of seeing her in this divine setting. The wind around them started to pick up. Her hair and the sleeves of her maid uniform sways freely in the wind.

Subaru: I'm really happy you're still here with me...

He takes another step, but then his eyes open wide from shock. From behind her, a black and purplish shadow emerges slowly around her. She stood there still with a smile on her face.

Subaru: "Rem?...", he asks worriedly.

He knew these shadows all too well. He has seen them before in his nightmares over and over again from that damn witch. He puts his hand in front to reach out to her and starts walking carefully to her.

The shadows around her started to form into the shape of large grotesque hands over each end.

Subaru: Rem?!

He started to run to her as she stood there happily. Why was the witch here? This couldn't be happening. This must be a nightmare. He kept running towards her. The path only became longer as he tried his best to reach her. She does nothing, but stands there watching him with the flower against her chest.

Subaru: REM?!

The hands readies itself and prepares its strike over her. The gap between them started to close up the closer he got until his finger touched her hand. The hands quickly grabbed hold of her.

Subaru: AAAAHHHHH!

Panting heavily, he sits up from his bed and stares at the wall. He was sweating all over his body from intense fear of losing her. He looks around the room and realizes it was just a dream. He pants heavily.

Subaru: Dammit...not again...

He leans forward and supports himself with his hand on his head. Having these nightmares were becoming worse every night for the past three days. He positions himself to sit at the edge of the bed to put on his sneakers.

When he arrived on the first day, the villagers of Arlam found him lying on the floor of the town square early in the morning wearing nothing, but a towel. They kindly took him in and took care of him. He stops panting when he hears a knock on his door.

?: Subaru, are you ok? I heard screaming again.

Subaru: I'm fine. No need to worry.

?: Can I come in?

Subaru: Yes, come in.

The door opens, but nobody is seen. A small girl with short orange hair with a red bow on top reveals herself from around the bed. This was Petra Leyte. She looks at Subaru questionably with both of her hands grasping each other on her front.

Petra: Are you ok, Subaru?

Subaru: Yeah, of course I'm fine. Sorry to scare you.

Petra: It's not cool to scare me like this. I get really worried when you do this every day.

Subaru: Yes, Yes, I know. I'm sorry to scare you...Anyway, where are your parents?

When he told the news of the events in Roswaal's mansion, everyone was surprised. He only told little details and excluded his relations with Rem. It was embarrassing to explain that part and felt degrading.

Petra wanted him to stay with her and her parents until then, but her and all of the other villagers were sad that he had to leave later.

Petra: Mother is out doing errands and father is working. it's only me and you today!

She had her hands on her back and stood straight in front of him. It was cute to see her so obedient like a host.

Subaru: Well, guess I should get up already. Can't have everyone waiting.

She nods as he ties the shoelaces on his sneakers, gets out of bed, and stretches. He wore his standard track suit without his jacket. His clothes were a bit torn when one of the villagers walked to the mansion to retrieve it, but since Petra was a great seamstress, she was able to repair it in no time. The only other problem they had was his missing track jacket. Ram explained to them she was unable to find it anywhere, not that she cared or anything. If she does find it, she'll just tear it up.

Petra: Any other plans today? We can go flower picking like the other day?

Subaru: …

He furrows his brows in thought. He really doesn't want to be reminded of her at this moment. Visiting that one spot will definitely bring back some memories from that day. The day he announced his feelings to that girl and his most cherished time with her, but he can't think back on that.

Petra notices the look on his face so she stops and stares at him regretfully. Even if she was twelve, she was smart enough to read the mood. Subaru notices the worried look on her face so he unfurled his brows.

Subaru: My mistake, I didn't mean to upset you. Anyways, what's for breakfast today, Petra?

Petra: Nothing fancy you usually eat. Just some scrambled eggs, but there's some squeezed juice left over.

He smiles and pats her head softly in gratitude. He walked out of the small room and sat near the table. Petra had already made his plate and set it in front of him. He stares at it in amazement of how delicious the eggs looked. They looked so golden and fluffy. It made his mouth watery. She gives him a small cup of squeezed orange juice and looks inside it. The cup was only filled halfway, but he didn't mind. She put in a lot of effort to make this for him so he gracefully accepts it.

He picks up his fork and takes a piece of egg and immediately indulges himself from its wonderful taste.

Subaru: Wow, this is really good! Did you really make this? This is amazing!

She nods rapidly with her hands still behind her back. She was still trying to keep her proper image towards her guest as a host should be.

He keeps eating piece by piece and when his plate is completely empty, he chugs down his juice and puts two hands together.

Subaru: Thanks for the meal!

He leans back on his chair feeling full from the amount he ate. Petra admired him as he sat back up and out of his chair.

Subaru: Alright! Time for some morning cardio!

He puts a fist on each of his sides and grins wide. She tilts her head questionably because of his strange words, but she ignores it. He heads outside with Petra following behind.

Petra: So what do you plan to do today?

Subaru: Hmm, Well first is radio calisthenics with the villagers and maybe do some labor work. I'll definitely play with the children some time today too, but let's see where I go from there.

Petra: You don't have to do these things, you know. Everyone is already thankful for your help.

Subaru: I know I don't have to. It's more of a dedication to everyone. I just do it for the fun of it!

After he arrived and settled in, he has been trying to repay his debt with them by doing some small labor tasks like harvesting some local fruits and tending to some of the farm animals. Sometimes he'll chat with some of them from time to time and help with regular errands. They kept insisting that there was no debt to be paid, but they were still glad for his efforts. Everyone enjoyed having him around. Especially the children.

Petra: So you like to work?...,but yesterday, I heard you swearing when you drop a crate on your foot. Mother had to cover my ears.

Subaru: Ok! I'm sorry you had to hear that! It will never happen again!

Most of the time during his daily work, he would usually cause some commotions from inexperience of the task, but they still enjoyed his positive personality. They enter the town square and the rest of the children notice him and Petra. They run towards him and he immediately backs away with his hands to his front to signal he surrenders, but they still jump all over him and some hang off of him.

Subaru: Ah! Is this really a daily routine now?!

Meina: Let's go play, Subaru!

Lucas: Subaru! How the hell are you!

Dine: Dammit, Subaru-chi. You're up late again!

Cain: Subaru! Where the FU-

Subaru: -OK, CAN WE PLEASE STOP WITH THE PROFANITY! I really should apologize to your parents about the language! Ah!

They swing all over him and they nearly make him trip, but he catches himself. This was one of his daily struggles. The kids would always greet him this way. It wasn't that big of an issue, but he couldn't avoid it regardless. One of the kids decided to jump on his back when Subaru was low enough and hung off his neck. This was the chubbier kid named Mild.

Mild: Subaru! Subaru! Can you play with us today?

Subaru: ...Mild...I...can't...brea~th…

He was pretty much turning purple from this kid's weight hanging off from his neck. Subaru's eyes lost his pupils and he fell forward. Luckily, he didn't land on any children and the others had already let go of him.

Petra: Subaru~!

Petra ran to him and all the kids flipped him over on his back. He was foaming from his mouth with half of his face turned purple from lack of oxygen. They were completely worried for him and were scared they might've lost him.

Petra: See, look what you did! Subaru! We're sorry!

Petra kneels beside him and lightly slaps the side of his cheek to wake him up. The other kids were blaming Mild for being reckless. An elderly man noticed the commotion and hurried up to them. He was the current head of the village's younger brother.

Muraosa: Oh dear, what do we have here?

Petra: Subaru passed out! I don't think he's breathing!

He looked at the kids and they stopped yelling at the other to look at him. They run close to him. He carefully inspects Subaru's unconscious state. With his hands on his walking stick, he wacks his chest really hard that makes Subaru wake up.

Subaru: Ah! What was that for?!

Muraosa: My apologies, but if we wait any longer, then you'll suffocate...but it does bring back some old memories of my childhood.

Subaru: Are you saying you were involved with murder?!

He just held in a laugh with his hand as he saw Subaru completely himself again. This man was the first person he'd told about the events at the mansion. He was also the only one that saw him go in a depressed state like he was. After that, Subaru tried to keep in these feelings and kept his chin up.

He managed himself up and dusted himself off. Petra immediately hugs his leg. He looks at her questionably.

Subaru: Uuhh, Petra?

Petra: "Subaru, don't scare me like that. If you died-", she says worriedly.

Subaru: -Whoa whoa whoa. Don't even talk that way. It's very bad luck...and besides, my luck stats are way off the charts to leave so soon.

She didn't understand him, but she let go of his leg and looked up to him. She was still a bit bothered, but she put those feelings aside. He was fine now so that's all that mattered.

Subaru: Alright, good! Now I believe it's about that time for some radio calisthenics!...eh?! Where did all of you come from?!

He looks up and turns around to see a crowd of villagers waiting in a formation. They were really eager for today's warm up. He felt a bit awkward thinking that they were standing there the whole time while he passed out, but in reality, they formed when he got up.

He faces them with his chest pumped out and crosses his arms.

Subaru: Eager today, are we? Well, no matter! Lets begin!

They begin their usual routine within minutes, but in the end, everyone was satisfied and began their day like normal. He tried to teach the children a game, but they still jumped on him like usual so he decided to walk around the village to greet everyone and help out. The kids also helped with some chores too since Subaru was doing it. They enjoyed watching him fail most of the time, but he didn't mind. They were just kids.

He also started to learn how to use the reins on a dragon carriage, but the driver had to keep taking it away from him when he almost crashed into a house. Luckily, the ground dragon was smart enough to stop, but it stopped so suddenly so it ended up launching him directly to a fence. This was his wacky, but peaceful time with them. Only if he had the others here with him.

The day went by smoothly and the night skies covered the landscape with the beautiful stars shining over the area. Torches were lit and everyone went to bed except for the night watchmen guarding the area. Security became very tight since the mabeast incident. Everyone was resting peacefully, except for the residents of the Roswaal mansion. It's pale structure almost lightens from the bright full moon overhead. The lights were still on in the interior. Inside, a maid with peach colored hair hurries down the hall with a teapot and cup on a tray in her hand. She passes each row of doors very quickly to arrive on time for her master.

She stops in front of a door and knocks on it.

?: Roswaal-sama, may I enter? Your tea is ready.

?: …

There was no response on the other side. Anxiously, she slowly opens the door and peaks her head in. The room was completely dark so the light from the hallway illuminated part of the room.

?: Roswaal-sama...your tea…

She was still nervous because it was impolite as a maid to rudely enter without an approval, but it needed to be done quickly. The man sitting beside his desk stared outside the window at the full moon that shines through. He wasn't himself at all. He held the black book close to his chest and didn't even notice the pink haired maid walking towards him. She sets the tray down and prepares his tea on a saucer. She set it beside him and stood in front of him with her hands to her front. Waiting for an order. He still couldn't see, but he knew who it was from the sound of the porcelain clanking against each other.

Roswaal: Thank you...Ram…you may come close…

She proceeds to walk close to him until she is within reach. He held up his right hand and without looking, a glow emanated from his hand. She leaned her forehead to his glowing finger and the mana that was released from his finger, was now transmitting to her damaged horn. This was needed on a daily basis for her to store her life energy since she cannot properly obtain mana because of her missing horn. She gasps lightly from this feeling of her energy returning to her body. It was a struggle to balance this out with her daily work.

Once it is done, he pulls his hand away and wraps it around the book within his arms tighter. She bows politely and puts the teapot on a tray and carries it out of the room. She closes the door softly so as to not disturb him.

Ram: "Dinner will be ready soon...", she says silently.

He ignores her, then she closes the door. She rushes down the hallway and downstairs to the next location. Ever since three days ago, everything was peaceful and quiet. Except for Ram. She has been working nonstop to finish her duties as a maid since the day after that night. She hurries down the hall and into the kitchen. Once she opened the door, her eyes grew wide from shock.

Ram: ...crap!...Dammit!...

Once she arrived, she saw the smoke coming out of the oven. She hurries towards it and opens it. The smoke instantly enveloped her face so she shut her eyes and fans it away while coughing. She wasn't a very good cook like her sister. She carries the smoky tray out with oven mitts on both hands and inspects it. What was supposed to be oven baked fish was now a piece of coal. She decides to go with it. She's already late.

Ram: ...tch...it'll do…

She adds extra sauce on top to cover the burnt taste and prepares it on a cart with a side of vegetables. There were a set of three meals on the cart. She covers them with a lid and transports it out of the kitchen and into the dining room.

A girl in a white and purple dress with amethyst eyes was the only one present for the night's meal. She was slumped over the table in deep thought. She rested her head and arms on the table while tapping it gently with a finger. She has been sitting at this spot for almost an hour since the food was late again.

Ever since that day, she has been thinking about the boy's last goodbye. If she could've done something different to make him stay. Now that he's gone, things weren't as lively as it used to be. This boy had affected everyone deeply until that day when he gave up on them. Each of the residents here were dealing with their own sorrow from this boy's betrayal on them. Now they live in solitude of its effects.

Ram parks the cart near Emilia and removes the lid from the overcooked piece of fish with assorted veggies.

Ram: Emilia-sama, dinner is ready. Now please sit up from the table so I may properly serve you.

Emilia stops tapping the table and sits herself up. Ram serves the burnt dish in front of her and she stares at it with tired eyes. The past few days had been a little hard on her so it was a little hard to concentrate. Ram notices her stare.

Ram: Tonight's meal may be a bit overcooked, but I assure you it's taste is fairly adequate.

Emilia grabs a fork and tries to stab it, but it fails to pierce through. She lifts it up from underneath with the fork and notices it's hard texture underneath the abundance of sauce spread out on top of it. The food didn't look so great to eat. Maybe with some special sauce, it will taste better.

Emilia: Hey Ram, do we still have some of that mayonnaise left over?

Ram: My apologies, Emilia-sama, but the last of it was used earlier during the lunch period and Rem is the only one that can make it.

Emilia presses the points of the fork down hard enough to make it break in half. She looks at it depressingly and softly sighs. Meals have become boring and without much taste, but she still tries her best to be polite about it.

She picks up her knife and saws her way into its hard structure, but it was no use so she decides to eat the vegetables on the side. With the overloaded sauce dripping from the sides of the fish, it was fairly edible.

While she eats, she noticed Ram was about to leave with the cart without informing her.

Emilia: Hey Ram, where are you going?

Ram: My apologies, Emilia-sama, but Ram must be excused for now.

Emilia: "...Is it...because of Rem?", she asks timidly.

Ram stops walking and turns her head to the side. Emilia couldn't see her eye because of Ram's bangs, but it still startled her a bit to see that red twinkle through it as if she shot daggers at her. It wasn't often she paid any attention to her so it was still surprising she caught her attention...Or it might be because it was about her sister. Ram didn't answer so it definitely meant yes.

Emilia: If you don't mind, can I take it to her? I know she hasn't been eating lately.

Ram fully turns around and crosses her arms. She didn't like to talk about her sister as often because she was disappointed that Rem lied to her about her secret relationship with Subaru. Rem wasn't being punished or anything. She stood in her room out of her own free will.

Ram: ...and why would she listen to you rather than her own sister?

Emilia turns back to face her food and puts a hand on the green pendant on her chest. She didn't want to admit it saying Rem disliked her. It will definitely anger Ram, but she has seen Rem completely ignoring Ram when it was time to eat. It was obvious that Rem didn't want to see her sister at the moment, but Emilia didn't want Rem to starve. Emilia does care about Rem too.

Emilia: ...because I'm her friend...and I can't ignore a friend in need.

Ram: ...Her...friend?...I hardly ever see you two communicate and yet you expect me to believe you are friends with my sister?

Emilia: Of course I'm her friend. When Subaru was here, we would-

Ram: -tch…

Emilia was startled by Ram's sudden short temper. Ram grits her teeth and furrows her brows in anger. Just by hearing the name of that boy will make her blood boil. Emilia really needed to be careful with her words.

Emilia: ...I'm...just as worried about Rem as you are...so as her friend, can I deliver her her meal? I know that you have a lot of work to do still so this can help too...

Ram: …

Emilia: ...Just this once? If she doesn't listen, then I won't ask anymore.

Ram thought about it a little more. It does help with the short amount of time of the overload of work she still had tonight so it wasn't exactly a bad idea. When she did try to get Rem to eat, it took her about an hour to try and get her attention, but most of the time she is completely ignored and she hasn't seen her face. From the past three days, she only ate twice so Ram was a bit skeptical to let Emilia take it to her. She decides it was probably fine for now since she still had a lot to do tonight.

Ram: Fine, I will only allow it just this once only if you are able to get her attention. Now, I must deliver Roswaal-sama's meal.

Emilia gets up out of her seat, then Ram hands her the tray with the lid on it, leaving only one in the cart. With a small and quick bow, Ram turns around and pushes the cart out of the dining room. Emilia stood there and stared at the tray in her hands with a lid. She lifts it up and peeks under it. It pretty much looked like hers, but it still had a little bit of color to it in some of the pieces of fish. She realizes that Ram probably served her the worst parts of the fish and the good pieces to Rem and Roswaal. She sighs. She closes it and walks out of the room.

She makes her way down the hall until she stops next to a room. She looks at the door and turns to face it. She looks down at the tray in her hands and makes her decision. She lifts the tray with one hand and knocks on the door with the other. She gets no response so she knocks on the door again.

?: Go away!

It was a bit muffled since the door separated them, but it sounded angry and depressing. She leans her ear next to the door to make out what was going on in there. It was faint, but it sounded like she was crying. She pulled away from the door and stood in front of it.

Emilia: Rem...it's me. I'm here to give you your food…

She heard the cries soften on the other side, but she still heard no response. She wasn't being told to go away so it was a good start. She knocks on the door again.

Emilia: You can't keep starving yourself like this. We are worried about you…

Rem: …

Emilia: You know he wouldn't want you to be sad. Please, you need to eat something at least...

She heard nothing on the other side. Emilia stood there and waited for a response, but there wasn't even a small sniffle. It was quiet until she heard the door unlock. It opens just a little revealing a small portion of the room. It was too dark to make out anything, but the lights from the hallway made it easier to see.

Rem: Do you really worry over Rem?...or is Ne-sama forcing you.

Emilia: Of course I'm worried about you, Rem. If Subaru is-...was my friend, then you are my friend too.

Rem: ...

Emilia: Now, can I come inside? Ram made some fish. It's not as good as yours, but it has some taste.

It still didn't add up to her, but then again, Emilia was always honest and straightforward with her logic. She was much more trustworthy than Ram so she decided to trust her. She opens the door all the way and stands beside it in the shadows.

Rem: You may come in…

Emilia: Thank you…

It sounded low, but she was still able to make out Rem's welcoming. Steadily, she walks into the room with the tray of food in her hands. The door closes behind her slowly, blocking out the light from the hallway. It became very dark, but it still had little light from the underside of the doorway.

Emilia: It's pretty dark in here…

Rem: My apologies, Emilia-sama, but Rem doesn't desire to reveal myself fully in my current state.

Rem walks to the bed and seats herself at the edge of the bed. Emilia places the tray at the foot of the bed and removes the silver lid. Rem doesn't pay any attention to her while Emilia prepares the food. She kept looking down as if lost. She wasn't herself at all. This was worse than how Emilia met Rem when she first moved in.

Emilia grabs the plate and seats right next to her. She starts cutting a piece of meat that was tender enough to chew. She stopped when she felt a hand on her hand that held the knife.

Rem: It's alright, Emilia-sama. You don't have to do this…

Emilia: I know...it's what I want to do. After everything that happened. I want to help you...so please…

Rem: No, as a maid, please allow me…

She gently took the plate from Emilia, then she handed the utensils to her. Slowly, she cuts the piece and picks it up with the fork. She directs it to her mouth and crunches down the dry piece. It wasn't so great, but it didn't bother her. She was too depressed to notice. Emilia just watches her eat and looks down to her plate. She kept eating like it was normal and without care. Piece by piece, she ate away including the vegetables until she was done.

Rem: Thank you, Emilia-sama…

Emilia takes the plate away from her and puts it back on the tray with a lid on top. They still sat next to each other in awkward silence.

Emilia: So...how are you feeling? You haven't left your room since Subaru left.

Rem: …

She couldn't say anything because she started to feel that lump in her throat and tears began to run down her cheeks. She tried to keep it in, but it was obvious. Just the mention of his name made her think of him(obviously). She slumps over and holds her head in her hands as she weeps away her sadness.

Even in the dark, Emilia couldn't look at her in this state. She puts a hand on her back to try and comfort her, but she keeps crying in her hands.

Emilia: It...must be really hard, hasn't it? I know how much you loved him…

Rem: "Why did he leave?!...why?!...why?!...", she sobs.

She sobs into her hands and the pieces of fabric on her sleeves. Upon closer look, Rem was in her nightgown. It probably smelled from constant use and she hasn't bathed since then. Rem falls to her side and covers her face in the pillow to hide her weeping face.

After her cries were over, she was curled up in her bed while laying on her side. She hugs herself around her knees. Emilia sat next to her head and caressed her cheek to the side of her head. It felt comforting at this moment.

Rem: Emilia-sama…

Emilia: Yes?...

Rem: ...Did he leave because of Rem?...

She sniffles. At first, she had no idea why he left. ever since she locked herself in her room, she thought about it and came to the conclusion he was kicked out by Roswaal. Nobody knows where he's at, but it was still heartbreaking.

Emilia: ...he's not that type of person...

Rem: ...What if he did...

It has been very hard to deal with this amount of guilt. Rem has been blaming herself for his abandonment since then. If she hadn't lied to Beatrice just to be closer with him, then Ram wouldn't have caught them and he still would've been here.

Emilia: Please don't blame yourself. It's not your fault. You know Subaru loves you...he cares about all of us...I know he has his reasons.

Rem: What other reason is there? It's because Rem wasn't too careful and now...he's…

Tears started to trail down her face again. It became really hard to think about it. There really was no other explanation. Because of her eagerness to be close to him, he was eventually kicked out. It made perfect sense.

Emilia: You need to stop living in regret. I'm sure he will eventually come back. It's not in his nature to give up so easily.

Rem sits up while supporting herself with her elbow and looks at Emilia. Her once sad look in her face was now full of hope.

Rem: Do you...really believe Subaru-kun will return?

Emilia: Of course, I know Subaru would never leave us. Think about what he's done for us...

It was possible. Why would he leave after everything they've done together? It was a nice thought in hopes he will come back. From how she knew him, he could never completely give up on them. Maybe there is a small chance he will change his mind. She gives her a small smile. Emilia decides to get up off her bed.

Emilia: Now, please get some rest. It's getting late.

Rem nods at her. It was a nice little breather to have this kind of conversation. She now had full faith to be reunited with her one true beloved one day in hopes he will return.

Emilia was about to pick up the tray, but Rem gets up out of her bed and hugs her on her side. Emilia was surprised by this sudden action.

Rem: My sincerest gratitude, Emilia-sama. Rem very much appreciates your concern and so for that I look forward to our friendship.

She stood there accepting her appreciation for her and Emilia felt the same way. She was happy that Rem had finally accepted their relationship as more than just a master to servant relationship. It was now complete with trust. She lets go of her and they both nod to each other. Emilia picks up the tray and walks out of the room.

Emilia: Goodnight, Rem…

Rem: Pleasant dreams, Emilia-sama…

With one last look, Emilia closes the door and heads back to the kitchen. Rem stood there, looking at the closed door. She was happy she had someone to talk to beside her sister who she didn't trust at the moment. It felt pretty dumb that she didn't realize it before. She was already good friends with Subaru and she has trust in him so she should trust her too. With that last thought in mind, she flips over her bed sheets and lays down. She puts a hand under her pillow and pulls out a black and white jacket with a letter N embroidered into it. She pulls it against her chest and hugs it tight and lovingly.

Rem: Subaru-kun will be back...Rem still believes…

She closes her eyes to sleep for the night. Now with full determination of his return.
