Chapter 11

The following Morning.

Sponsz smiled smugly as the van carried him into The fortress of Prara. The stronghold suited the landscape of lake Polishoff perfectly, rising from the granite rocks, towering over the lake and all other natural sculptures. In the past, the fortress of Prara held an important position regarding a possible invasion into Syldavia. At present, it served as a laboratory for a range of scientific inquiries.

Sponsz had just provided them with something new.

Now he needed to kick it into commencement.

As the van pulled up, he immediately sprang from the passenger seat, enjoying the pride of the salutes that followed. Striding into the fortress, a grin inevitably spread across his face. He strode into the science department to find both of the Professors in the auxiliary lab, surrounded by guards.

As Sponsz stepped into the lab, the soldiers stood to attention, but Professor Calculus and Professor Topolino stared at him almost paralyzed in shock.

"Good work. Now, to the task in hand,"

"Excuse me?" Topolino exclaimed. "What do you want from us?"

"Simple. You're working for me,"

"No. Never," Calculus stated shakily.

"You haven't any other options," Sponz growled. "You will obey me, or you will meet the same fate as Tintin,"

Sponsz smiled smugly as Calculus and Topolino's opposition disappeared into silence.

"No... That's a lie,"

Sponsz stepped closer, glaring at him.

"Your 'friend' is dead and you will not escape. You will follow the instructions that I am about to give you,"

One hour later, Sponsz retired to the main office to find Colonel Sietz waiting for him.

"Success at last," Sponsz grinned.

"Kurvi - Tasch will be pleased"

"He should be" Sietz replied as Sponsz picked up the phone, dialling someone else.

"Dr Krazu, how's our patient?"

"Much better. The surgery was tricky,"

"Take full precautions, He's dangerous," Sponsz replied sternly. Hanging up, he smiled smugly. Everything had fallen into place, and more importantly, he had something to look forward to.

Sietz turned to him, raising his eyebrow slightly.

"Why is he still alive?"

"He may become useful," Sponsz replied quickly, opting not to allow Sietz to know the reason as to why he was still alive.

The sound of his heaving chest filled his ears first even as he tried to open his eyes. As the feeling in his arms and legs started to return, he quickly became aware of the sharp pain spreading through his chest.

I'm alive. How?

The last thing I remember is Dr Krikov. He shot me. Why did he try to kill me?

As his eyes finally obeyed him, he stared around his surroundings, trying to take in everything.

Where am I?

The jangle of chains sounded the moment he tried to move his dominant hand.

Why am I handcuffed to the bed?

The empty room appeared to be a medical bay. Tintin assumed that due to the amount of medical equipment scattered around the room. As he moved in an attempt to get comfortable, a small whine broke the silence.

"Snowy?"

Leaning over to the side of the bed, he ignored the sharp stabs on pain, finding Snowy lying on the floor. Even though a collar adorned his neck along with a chain fastened to it, attaching him to the wall, Tintin was glad to see him.

Where are the professors?

As the door opened, Tintin slipped back onto the bed in shock.

Sponsz.

"You're awake, good. For a brief moment, we nearly lost you," Sponsz stated. A smug smile spread across Sponsz's face as he paused at the bottom of the bed.

"Where am I?"

"Somewhere safe,"

"Where are my friends?"

"Working like they should be," Sponsz smirked.

Tintin stared at him in confusion.

"They would never work for you,"

"They will do with incentive, which they do," Sponsz commented with a smile, extending his hands across the bar at the base of the bed frame.

"What do you want with us?"

"I'm surprised" Sponsz chuckled. "You've always struck me as a smart man and don't know anything,"

Tintin's mind shut to his influence, and he finally started to think clearly. Why would he want the professors too?

"Once I get what I want, I will force you to watch the outcome,"

Tintin's mind continued to flood with memories of previous events. Calculus, Topolino, What connects them? Great snakes, the Ultrasonic weapon.

"The Ultrasonic .. wait that's not possible. The plans don't exist anymore .."

"Yes, they do. The blueprints exist in the Professors, and in the plans that were located by someone working on our behalf. Goodness, it was so advanced that even our scientists couldn't get their heads around it. That's where they came in, and you just happened to be there. I couldn't miss that opportunity. Interesting how things worked out,"

Tintin could speak no longer.

Sponsz walked round the bed, leaning over him. Tintin immediately moved his head to the side, trying to ignore Sponsz' hot breath on his face. Unfortunately, Sponsz' sweaty hand pulled his face back. He couldn't avoid his harrowing eye's.

"Get well soon," Sponsz whispered.

As Sponsz walked away, Tintin closed his eyes to block out his senses, but it didn't work. Salty tears inevitably ran down his face.

It's over. There is nothing I can do.

I'm quite chuffed I've managed to write this much. It's not the best story I've written, but I still wanted to share it. Thanks for reading.
