"Are you sure bout this Kayla? I mean are you okay with me?" Damian asked floating besides her.
"Of course! I'll be more than happy if I could do this with you!" Kayla beamed at him.
"Your call. And Kayla..." He paused while floating. His body straightens.
"What?" She asked looking back towards him.
"Thanks! For giving me this chance!" He said while grinning ear to ear. Kayla walked up to him and places her hand on his cheeks. She brought his face closer to her and kissed his cheek.
"Damian! There's no other person whom I like to do this together other than you!" She said softly.
"Thanks Kayla, you're really sweet!" He compliments her.
"Of course I am! I'll give you a good 'lesson' if you say otherwise!" She jokes unknowing of what people perceive of her strength.
"Hahaa..." Damian chuckled nervously as they continue moving.
"Looks like we're here!" Damian said with Kayla behind him. They arrived in front of a door that has a name painted on the front.
Counselling
Ms. Cameron Walden
He knocked on the door. After a few second, a feminine voice chimed inside.
"Come in!!!" Cameron said.
"Let's go!" Kayla chimed with her hand on the knob of the door. She opened the door revealing a plainly decorated office.
Flashback: 2 months ago
The door opened revealing a certain dark red demon floating in.
"Hello?" He greets as his voice reaches no one as the office was empty.
"What!!? She's not here yet!". Damian was annoyed at the fact that she wasn't here. He was sleepy as hell and wanted to get his session over with but there was nothing he could do but wait. He looked around the office at her absence and floated around to see the office. For him, the style of decoration was weird if compared with Carrie's style or actually all the other teachers style differs from Cameron's. The wall was painted with a light brown colour with a standard normal wood desk at the end of the room. It has the usual computer and some stationaries on it. Sunlight shined through the room giving the room enough lightning without the need of candles or lamps. A bookshelf stood tall on the left side of the desk. Damian eyed the room for a while. The room actually gave a relaxing atmosphere towards him. It's to the point on how scary it was to have such a calming vibe. He wasn't sure whether it was on purpose or not. He continued floating near the door when his eyes spotted a green beanbag at the corner of the room opposite the desk.
"Lucky me!" He chimed before crashing his body on the beanbag earning rustles from the material inside. He stretched out his arm and yawned at the sheer amount of comfort it gave. He was about to shut his eyes and sleep while waiting for Cameron when he saw something on the corner of his eyes. It was a piano opposite of him. He slowly stood back up before hovering towards the piano. Somehow, he was drawn towards it. Once he reached it, he began to observe it diligently. His hands slide across the keys of the piano. He then proceeds to to take a seat in front of the piano. He pressed one key, and then two, and he continued this until a melody came out. His smile broaden on his face as his pupil grew. He continued to play it until a very beautiful synergy came out of the piano. Every key he pressed was melodious.
"What you're doing there?!" A feminine voice came from behind him.
"What the!!!" He shouted, jumping off the piano. Due to the high speed, his head crashed on the ceiling as he came tumbling down to the ground.
"I'm sorry, Damian are you okay?" The voice called out in panic.
Damian rubbed his aching head. His face wrinkled due to the sheer amount of pain.
"I'm fine! Ouhhh" He groaned in pain. Then, he looked in front of him to see Cameron with a worried face.
"Ohh! Ms Walden!" He said before trying to stand back up. When he did, he wiped the dust out of his shirt. It was a moment of sheer embarrassment for him. Suddenly, a realisation flooded his mind.
"Did you... see that?" He asked her.
"See what?" Cameron asked back.
"Ohh! The piano! You played really well!" She compliments him without realising what it meant.
"No.No.No" He groaned.
"You weren't supposed to see that!" He said at her. He the proceeds to the door and tried to leave.
"Damian!" She called.
"I'm sorry Ms Walden. I don't want to talk about it!" He tried to excuse himself.
"Wait! I won't tell anyone!... I swear!" She said.
He looked back at her with a surprised look.
He paused, contemplating on it for a while before looking back at her with a serious face.
"Really? You promise?" He asked her back in. serious tone.
"Cross my heart!" She said while crossing her heart. Damian paused while looking at her face intently. He was thinking whether or not he should trust her.
"Fine!!! Let's just get this over with!" He scouled and walked back toward the beanbag and laid on it.
"Okay then! Sorry for startling you!" She apologized at him.
"It's fine" He said shortly with minimal interest.
"Soo... why did you call me here?" He asked her.
"No reason... I just want to know you better Damian!" She responded.
He carved a confused look on his face.
"What! I came all the way for this!" He was annoyed in the very least.
"Give me a chance. You might benefit from it later!" She chimed.
"Whatevs! Anyway... what do you want to know about me?" He asked her.
"I'll leave that up to you, but if you ask me... I want to know about Damian!" She said pointing at him.
"What's else to know? My name is Damian, that's it!" He responded flatly.
"Not that! More like, who you are actually! Life experiences, hobbies, friends..family, likes, dislikes, anything!" She listed.
"You're really demanding lady!" He said to her still lying on the bean bag.
"Try it!" She said to him. He took a deep breath before laying it out.
"My name's Damian Beelzy. As you already know, I'm a demon, antichrist, monster, whatever you want to call me!" Venom spewed out his own voice, as his hand tightens to a grip.
"Cool! Do you have any powers or any special abilities?" She asked him.
Damian was caught by surprise at her reaction.
"Ms Walden, aren't you afraid or disgusted... at me?" He asked her. Apart of himself still afraid of her response. He looked down in shame.
"Why should I? A demon is still a person right! I'm here to see what kind of person you are! In the end, you're just another student of this school!" She explained.
He was honestly taken aback at her response. Everyone usually runs away or throw slanders and abuse but not her.
"So, could you still tell me what you can do?" She asked with a warm smile on her face.
"S-sure... I can... teleport, ya know, move from here to there and I can also shoot fire out my hands!" Damian began to become more enthusiastic as the conversation goes on. Cameron just listen intently at him. Despite all the gossips and stories she heard from the other citizens, she sees Damian as nothing more than another teenager.
"What about relationships?" Cameron asked.
"Relationships?" Damian was confused about her question.
"As in, your friends, family... romantic interests perhaps!" She continued.
"Ohh.. well... Sahara, Addison, Vince and Leo are probably my closest friends, maybe Jack..." He trails off.
"From what I heard, he's your cousin... right?" She tries to continue the conversation.
"Y-yeah, but we're not that close!" He carved a sad look on his face.
"Well, can't blame him though!" He continued.
"Why is that Damian, isn't he family?" Cameron asked him confused.
"La- Ms Walden, I use to... torture him.. a lot... just because of his curse... he took that personally, I won't blame him though! Even you would change on how you'd see me if you know everything I've done!" His face grims as the confession began to create lumps in his throat.
"Damian, everybody makes mistakes! It's only up to you to make it right!" She advises but he only continued to stare at the ceiling.
"On the other note, what about your parents? They're royalty right!" She said.
"Hmm!" He just nods at the statement. Cameron knew that he didn't want to talk about his parents.
"Damian, what's the matter?" She said softly.
"No Ms Walden. Its just that... the way you say it... royalty... I don't see it that way!" He said to her.
"Then, how do you see it?" She asked him.
"They rarely spend time with me now when I'm grown up. All they want, all my 'father' want, is just for me to be king and I don't want that! I don't see it as a privilege. It's just... restricting, you get it?" He explained to her.
"But, being a king, doesn't that mean you have more power!" She asked him.
"If I wanted power, I wouldn't have gone up here, in the overworld. What I want is... freedom. I want to build my own life up here. It's peaceful, and... it's the only place where I actually have people that care for me besides my caretakers. If I became king, I could never go back here, I'll lose... Everything!" He explains to her with thought and consideration.
"Damian, I can't help you to not be king. It's not in my power. But perhaps, in the future, you yourself can solve this! You can make a better path for yourself" Cameron said.
"Perhaps..." He said as his eyes divert to the floor.
"Anyway, what about Kayla?!" She asked him trying to lift his spirit.
"Kayla..." He began to smile at her name.
"She... she's beautiful, smart, talented and there's nothing I wouldn't do for her!" He said.
"So... you like her?" Cameron asked with a smile on her face.
"Yeah!" He responded quickly.
"Then, why won't you two be friends? But it seems to me that she's afraid of you for some re-
"Wouldn't blame her! Who would want to be friends with the enemy you sworn to hate? Plus, I'm just getting in her way!" He cut her off.
It was at this point where Cameron concluded the crush Damian had for Kayla but he was just to different from her. She was about to say something when he cut her off.
"But it doesn't matter. She could be with anyone she wanted. It's her choice, not mine!" Damian said.
"I don't pretty much care!" He said but deep inside he knows he's lying to himself.
Cameron felt pity for him. If anyone sees him the way that she did, he wouldn't have this problem. The best she could do was encourage him.
"Damian, you should cherish the ones that care for you, your friends. Most importantly, never give up on being better, that way, maybe others could see you in a different light!" Cameron said.
"Maybe..." He said faking a smile. Anyway, apart of him was not really convinced on how people would change their views on him. Apart of him wanted to believe it but doesn't want his naivety to backfire in him. It was a moment of silence for the two of them.
"Well, if there's nothing more, then.. can I leave?" Damian said waiting for her response.
"Well... you can if you want to! Thanks for this conversation Damian." She said to him.
He didn't reply as he stood up and walk towards the door when he suddenly paused in his tracks. He looked back at Cameron.
"Ms Walden, thanks for the compliment earlier. The piano.. it meant a lot!" Damian said to her.
"Sure, you're welcome Damian! It was very beautiful!" She complimented him. For a brief while, a smile appeared on his face which caught her eye. It was a warm, gentle smile unlike what others say about him. Shortly after, he opened the door and exited her office. She regretted that she wasn't able to talk to him more but in the end, she feels that it was sufficient. She believed he would change for the better.
End Flashback
"Good morning Ms Walden" Kayla beamed as she entered the room.
"Good morning Kayla, what brings you here today?" She said with a smile. Kayla walked in and right behind her was a person she didn't expect.
"Damian? Why brings you here as well?" She said while in a confused state.
"Well, we wanted to talk about the performance and we decided that we like to form our group back!" Damian said to her.
"Really?!!" Cameron was excited but she then try to maintain a professional expression.
"I mean, are you sure, Kayla?" She said looking at Kayla waiting for her response.
"Yeah, Ms Walden, that's true" Kayla said smiling.
"I'm okay with that, it's just that, it brings me joy to see you two working together on this, it really does. And if I'm not intruding, may I ask why the sudden change? You both made up?' Cameron asked the both of them.
"Well actually..." Kayla paused. Damian who saw this tried his best to explain on her behalf.
"We're kinda, you know... a couple now!" Damian said in an uneven tone.
The both of them just watched Cameron froze. They were worried if she was against it but then Cameron beamed brightly.
"Really!?" Yup!! Her professionalism is gone in a split second.
"I'm really glad for the both of you! I really hoped for you two to make up with eachother. Start anew, but I wasn't expecting this!" Cameron said happily.
"So... could you spare me the details!?" Cameron said gleefully and excited. The three of them then talked for quite some time. Well, only her and Kayla as Damian felt embarrassed to tell her about it. For Cameron, this is the reason she became a counselor. Nothing brings more joy than to see people change and become the best of themselves. The sight of the two brings warm feelings in her heart. She was glad the both of them finally found love for each other but she would be lying if she said she didn't root for them from the start. Anyways, that detail she kept to herself as she listened to their story as the day continues.
