Chapter Eleven: Making Plans.

"I was wondering what you were doing for Thanksgiving?" Leona asked peeking at Sam curiously, she focused on dishing up dinner as she waited for him to answer her; she was glad that they had been able to get together tonight. It had been over a month now since the incident where Bella Swan had gotten lost in the forest, it had been Sam and his friends that had found her in the end; something that Charlie had been most thankful for.

Things had been going well for Leona and Sam, they made dinner together most nights when Leona was not working the late shift and he sometimes even dropped by the station with lunch for her from Sue's. A warm feeling filled her at how happy she was, it had never occurred to her that things could be this easy for them; she almost expected something to go wrong sometimes with how perfect their relationship seemed to be.

"My mother is going to be away so I will probably just spend the day alone," Sam replied helping in any way that he could, he did not really celebrate and had decided that he would rather patrol so that Jared and Paul could spend the day with their families. It had been quiet since the Cullens had left town and Sam was thankful for that, he was glad that they did not have to worry about the leeches anymore or anymore kids in the tribe turning into wolves.

"I was thinking that maybe you could come here?" Leona suggested a little nervous, her eyes glanced down at the plate and she would understand if he refused; she was not sure that he even celebrated such a holiday given what it was about. Her parents had just finalised their details about coming to stay with her for a long weekend were not just expected to see her life in Forks; they had heard quite a bit about Sam since she had decided to tell them about him.

Sam raised an eyebrow at her, he was a little surprised that she was asking him; he had not considered that she might like to have him around for the holiday. Things were new still between them, he had not even introduced her to his mother and had like having her almost to himself when they both were not busy with commitments.

"My parents are coming to visit and they'd love to meet you, I think my mom plans on hunting you down if you are not here," Leona joked with a shake of her head, her mother was excited and wanted to meet the man that her daughter gushed about. Lillian had been curious when Leona had mentioned Sam and had been rather surprised that her daughter had become so taken with someone; she had thought that would never happen since Leona was so focused on her career.

"We eat loads of food, play board games, watch movies, my dad will bring the old family videos and you'll get to laugh at how adorable I look covered in paint," Leona stated hoping to reassure him, they did not really celebrate the tradition Thanksgiving and mainly used it as an excuse to spend so much needed time together. They were a close-knit family and Leona was eager for Sam to be a part of that in some way, it was a big step for him to meet her parents; they had barely been dating a month right now.

Sam smiled at how she rambled, he could not help but smile at the look on her face before she noticed that he was staring at her; she turned red and turned away so that he could not see her face.

"You want me to meet your parents?" Sam asked a little surprised that she wanted to take that step, he had thought it would be a little longer before he had to deal with the meeting of the parents. Though he was not sure how they would manage that when they lived so far away, he was sure that the tribal elders would have to deal without him for a week if they flew out to Kansas so he could meet her parents.

Sam still was not sure how he would tell her about the tribal legends yet and he had no idea how he would tell her that he turned into a giant wolf or the fact that he had imprinted on her. Such news was not meant to be dropped on a person like he was discussing the weather, Sam had no one that he could turn to for advice since he was the first wolf of this generation to imprint.

"Of course, you are important to me," Leona told him with a smile, she was certain about this and of him; she did not know what it was, but she felt like nothing could ruin this for them.

"You're important to me too," Sam replied moving to stand next to her, he had never felt this way about anyone and he could see why he had imprinted on Leona; she was everything that he had ever wanted in a partner. Things had not been this easy for him when he had been dating Leah, he had never thought that things could be this simple and he thanked the ancestors for helping him find Leona.

Leaning forward, Leona felt a little nervous before she kissed Sam on the lips, it felt right and the warm feeling centred in her chest at the feel of his lips; things had been going well and this was the first time that she had felt the time was right. Sam carefully wrapped his arms around Leona, he was thrilled that she felt so comfortable with him; he had been worried that it would take months if not years for them to reach this point.

Pulling back, Leona could not keep the smile off her face as she looked up at Sam; she found herself falling for him and she was excited that they had reached this point. Sam brushed some hair behind her ear before allowing her to finish preparing dinner; he smiled to himself doubting that he would forget that moment anytime soon.

"How do the plans go for the drug raid?" Sam asked knowing that all the information that he had given about the drug dealer was leading up to the man being arrested. The sooner the man was behind bars the better and Sam was determined to see him off the streets before someone got hurt by what he was doing. The last thing that Sam wanted was for someone to die because of the drug dealer's actions, he was doing his best to make sure that he was not selling in La Push but that did not stop him selling in Forks.

"Planning is going well. The date is set and we're just preparing for whatever might come our way," Leona replied, she did not want to talk about work especially after kissing Sam, but she knew that there was no way to really avoid it. Sam nodded his head, he did not know how he felt about Leona being there for the arrest, but it was her job and he was not going to stop her; he just hoped that she was going to be okay. There was no doubt that he would not be able to sleep in the run up to the raid, he could not help but imagine what might go wrong and her getting hurt in some way.

"Dinner is served," Leona announced snapping him out of his thoughts, she flashed a smile to Sam as he came over to her and helped talk the plates over to the table while she grabbed their drinks. It was nice to have the evening off and Leona was thankful that she had been able to have dinner with Sam tonight; she did not know what was going on at the Swan household, but Charlie had not been right since what had happened last month.

Charlie had looked exhausted recently and the talk in the locker room was that Bella was not taking her break-up with Edward well; they were worried for their chief and they wished that they knew how to help him. Joanne had been taking meals over and doing her best to help; she was not saying anything about what was going on there but rumours from the school had started to run around town. From what Leona had learned apparently Dr. Cullen had been offered a position in some fancy hospital in LA, they had moved there meaning that Bella and Edward had broken up.

"How was work?" Leona asked wanting to take her mind off Bella, she did not know the teenager well enough to be involved in her drama. The first break up was always the hardest and it had been only a month, she would pull herself together eventually when she realised that she could do better than her boyfriend and she did not have to rely on him for her happiness.

Leona hoped that Charlie was not going to be too distracted by what was going on with Bella when they went ahead with the drug's bust that was fast approaching. They needed everyone to be fully prepared for what was too come; they did not need anyone to mess up or allow the drug dealer to escape before they could arrest them.

"Work was quiet," Sam replied with a shrug, he could not exactly tell Leona that he had spent the day running around the forest; he did not have any council meeting today and it had been nice. Sam did not really like dealing with the council, they were not helpful when it came to running the pack and he hated that he had to answer to them; they had no idea what it was like for them especially those who could not tell their families what was going on.

They did not even help deal with the rumours that he and the pack were some sort of gang and that they were nothing but trouble.
