"Hey," Maura whispered when she walked into the bedroom and noticed her girlfriend awake. "How are you feeling?" The blonde smiled as she wiped the hair out of her girlfriend's face and sat on the bed beside her. The two cups of coffee she brought in sat steaming on the bedside table.

"Okay I guess," Jane smiled up at the blonde. "My head still hurts," she winced as she sat up and rested against the headboard. She took one of the coffee mugs off of the side table and slipped her hand through the handle. She took a sipon the dark brown liquid and sighed. "I better be okay to go next weekend. I can't imagine being off of the field for the game against Brooke's ex," she laughed. "I want to watch her face drop when she realizes how great Brooke is."

"You know Brooke will be good with or without you on the field?" Maura reminded her.

"But her game is just elevated when I'm there to feed her the ball," Jane took another sip of coffee. "We have such good chemistry."

"You do," Maura leaned in to kiss her girlfriend. "But, why don't we focus on healing that brain of yours?"

"Yeah," Jane sighed.

"I have to go to the stadium for a few hours today to finish some paperwork," Maura sighed. "But Katie's going to come over for a bit, make sure you don't watch any TV or read anything."

"Are you saying I can't be trusted alone?" Jane smirked at the blonde.

"That's exactly what I'm saying," Maura laughed. She stood from the bed and smirked at the woman laying below her. "I'm going to get ready, I'll be back before lunch. There's a breakfast parfait in the fridge," Maura smiled as she sauntered into the bathroom.

Jane sipped the remaining coffee and winced as she went to stand up. The pain in her head was a dull ache, fortunately for her, she wasn't dizzy or nauseous at all. With this pace she should be better by Saturday. She took the two empty mugs and walked down the stairs to put them in the dishwasher. She grabbed the breakfast from the fridge and sat at the countertop in the kitchen. She pulled out her phone and set the ESPN podcast on to listen to. She wasn't allowed to read or watch TV, but she was certainly allowed to listen to sports.

"That's going to make your headache worse," Maura scolded as she entered the kitchen dressed in her knee length blue dress.

"Just looking at you makes it feel better," Jane smirked as she leaned down to kiss the blonde. "I wish you didn't have to go in."

"It's only for a few hours. Katie should be here any minute," Maura smirked at her girlfriend as she pulled purse off of the counter. "I'll see you in a few hours," she walked over to the brunette and pressed her lips against her forehead.

The brunette frowned, "I love you."

Maura pulled Jane's upper lip to untuck it from the bottom lip. She leaned in to press a final kiss to her lips. The kiss was short and soft and full of all of the emotion Maura had left over from yesterday after Jane got hit. She went to pull away when Jane's hand rested on Maura's neck, keeping her lips where they were.

Jane went to deepen the slow soft kiss, pouring all of her emotion back into it. "Jane," Maura muttered against her girlfriend's lips. "I have to go to work," her voice hoarse as she pulled away. "I love you," Maura smiled as she stepped back. "I'll see you later."

"Yeah," Jane sighed. "Okay, later," she smiled as she returned to her breakfast.

"Jane..." Maura sighed beside the brunette.

"No," Jane stopped her girlfriend from continuing. "I get it, I just don't like it," Jane watched Maura standing in the doorway of the kitchen. "I just want to cuddle on the couch with you while you watch a documentary and I nap in your arms. We can do that when you get back," Jane encouraged.

Maura stood in the doorway staring at her girlfriend. Her emotions telling her that her paperwork can wait until tomorrow but, her practical nature telling her it can't. She has a couple players to see this morning since she bailed pretty early last night. "Okay," she sighed as she turned to leave the house. If she didn't leave now, she knew she would never leave. "I'll see you later," Maura nodded as she opened the door.

Jane sighed and returned to eating her breakfast while listening to sports. She got up to rinse out her glass and put it in the dishwasher when the front door opened. Keys jingling, loud thumps of Katie's boots hitting the floor, and her best friend grunting as she entered her house.

"Jane?" Katie yelled from the entryway.

"Shhhh," Jane winced at the loud noise. "I'm right here."

"Sorry," Katie laughed as she poured herself a cup of coffee in the kitchen. "Is it safe to say you still have a headache?"

"Safe to say," Jane nodded in agreement. She took her phone and went to relax on the couch. "At least it's only a headache and there's no other symptoms."

"True," Katie smiled as she sat next to her best friend. "Did Brooke tell you that she finally broke up with her girl friend?"

"Good for her," Jane smiled. "Now she can officially kick her ass on Saturday."

"I hope you can play so she can really kick her ass," Katie laughed.

Jane's ears perked up when she heard her name mentioned from her phone. "Shh," Jane hissed as she turned up the volume. "What are they saying?"

"It's probably about your head injury. Nothing we don't already know about," Katie laughed.

"Jane Rizzoli, who was taken out late in the game yesterday with a possible head injury, is likely a contender for the United States National Team this year. Isn't that right Rich?" The female voice stated. Jane looked at her best friend shocked.

"There's no way, right?" Jane whispered.

"There's a possibility, you're the best in the NWSL right now," Katie laughed at the shock in her friend's face.

"Shhhh," Jane shushed her friend as she continued to listen to the sound coming from her phone.

"That's right Chelsea. Jane Rizzoli has been a major part of the Boston Ringer's success these past two seasons. Her stats from last year have her leading in many categories. She recently re-signed with the Ringer's. After the retirement of one of the star forwards of the National Team this year they are going to have to bring in some new faces to fill that spot. Jane Rizzoli is one of those great candidates to fill that position. She is great at expanding the defence and allowing her teammates to slide in behind them." The male voice explained.

"Yeah I agree with that," the female voice concurred. "We'll just have to see how Rizzoli rebounds from that suspected head injury from last night's game."

"Kate," Jane whispered. "There's no way, right? This isn't a possibility, right?"

"Jane," Katie laughed. "I think it's definitely a possibility. I'm honestly surprised you haven't been at least invited to train with them," Katie sat in the living room and put her feet up on the coffee table. "I'm so happy for you," Katie smiled.

"Me too," Jane smiled as she plopped down on the couch beside her best friend. "Now we just wait for the call I guess," Jane rested her head in her friend's lap, closed her eyes, and continued to listen to the voices coming from her phone.

Maura pulled open the front door, the house was quiet and dark. She entered the living room and saw her girlfriend asleep on Katie. Katie raised her finger so Maura knew to be quiet. At least her girlfriend was getting some rest.

"You want to switch?" Katie laughed softly as she pointed to Jane on her lap.

"Yeah, let me change real quick," Maura smiled and ran up the stairs. She came down the stairs in her sweats and t-shirt. "Thank you Katie," Maura smiled.

"Yeah," Katie laughed. "No problem," Kate shifted Jane's head off her lap and stood up. Her friend groaned from her place on the couch.

"Kate?" Jane moaned.

"I'm going to head home," Katie smiled and Jane nodded as she turned onto her side. Katie silently left the house.

Maura grabbed the remote and slid between Jane and the back of the couch, she pulled the brunette closer against her and turned on the TV. She muted the sound and turned on the subtitles of her favorite docu-series. The brunette in her arms nuzzled closer into her chest and smiled.

With a deep breath in, Jane moaned. "You're home," Jane wrapped her arms tightly around her girlfriend. "I'm happy you're home."

"I'm happy I'm home too," Maura smiled as she looked at the brunette in her arms. "How's your head?" She wondered as she wiped the hair out of her girlfriends face and leaned down to kiss her forehead.

"It's the same," Jane shrugged. "It feels better when you're here though," she leaned up to kiss the blonde.

"Go back to sleep," Maura whispered. "I'll be here," Maura kissed Jane's forehead as Jane readjusted so she could fall back asleep in Maura's arms.

They laid like that for hours and as the credits of Maura's docu-series rolled through the woman in her arms began to stir. Maura lightly caressed her back, her movements slow and calculated. She felt Jane sigh in content in her arms and smile up at her. "I missed you today," Jane whispered in her girlfriend's arms.

"I missed you too," Maura smiled. "I hated having to leave you," she came face to face with her girlfriend. She leaned in to softly press her lips against Jane's.

"Mmmhmm," Jane smiled into the kiss. Her hand rested on Maura's hip where the seam of her shirt met the skin above her sweat pants. Her fingers slowly inching their way under Maura's shirt, inching further and further until they came in contact with the underside of Maura's breast.

"Jane," Maura pulled Jane's hand out from under her shirt. "We can't," she whispered into Jane's mouth.

"Yes we can," Jane urged, returning her hand to her girlfriend's chest. "We definitely can," Jane whispered as she returned her lips to Maura's.

"We definitely can't," Maura laughed. "You need to heal that brain so you can play in the game on Saturday," Maura pulled her girlfriend's hand out from under her shirt and pulled her head away from the brunette's.

"Shhhh, for today," Jane danced her fingers across Maura's bare abdomen. "For right now," Jane leaned in to kiss the woman in front of her. "Let me make love to you tonight."

"Are you still having headaches?" Maura smirked at the brunette. She watched the lust fall from Jane's face. "Every time you're hurt we try to do this and we always make things worse. Let's just eat dinner together, and spend a quiet night together," Maura suggested.

"But tonight," Jane whined.

"Tonight, your brain is still healing," Maura laughed as she leaned in to kiss her forehead. "Dinner then rest," Maura instructed as she sat up and pulled the brunette with her. "I love you," Maura smiled as she leaned in to give her girlfriend a quick peck on the lips before heading into the kitchen to make dinner.

"I love you too," Jane called after her.
