A/N: Was almost at a loss as to what to do for this one until my brain actually worked for once and came up with this gloriously fluffy bit here. Again, it's to make up for the upcoming chapters.
Disclaimer: I don't own any of the recognizable characters, Disney/Pixar does.
The last thing he heard regarding his team was that Dynamite and Drip had minor burns along their flanks, Windlifter threw two shoes - very minor, wasn't painful for him - and pulled a muscle, and Dipper had a severe burn along her wing. He was extremely worried about them, as he didn't know how well they were doing now.
He hadn't been able to get in contact with Maru since he told him about the team, something with the radio connection.
Blade landed on the tarmac, sometime after ten at night he was sure, and trotted to the main hangar. The TV light was on, so somebody was there.
When he could see into the entrance, he saw his entire team in the middle of the room, all facing the tv. He let out a breath he hadn't known he was holding, and began looking everyone over. He saw Dipper's wing, bandage wrapped and tucked at her side. She seemed asleep, if the way she was leaning against Windlifter was any indication. The big brute didn't look any different, but Blade knew he'd have a bit of a limp for a while.
His gaze moved to where the jumpers were piled up around Cabbie. It was hard to pick them all out, with how dark it was, but Blade knew his team by heart. He could see Drip's telltale short, fuzzy mane and Dynamite's dished face. He also noticed the bandages around their flanks, but both seemed to be just fine.
He looked at the rest of them, noting if there were any other injuries he may have been failed to be informed of. Dusty was next to Dipper on her other side, facing her with his back to Maru and Patch and Cabbie was in the middle of the smokejumper pile.
Sighing again, content, Blade turned to leave. Knowing his team was safe, he could rest easy in his own hangar.
"Stay."
He'd barely turned all the way around when he heard Dynamite's voice. By the volume of it, quiet but just enough to reach his sensitive ears, he knew she was speaking to him. When he turned his head around to double check, he saw his entire team looking over at him. Dynamite, Pinecone, and Dusty in particular had hopeful gazes pinned to him.
And really, with the rest of the team staring at him like that (and Drip's puppy eyes that he should not be able to do so good) how could he say no?
He turned around, walking back into the main hangar. The jumpers and Dusty's faces lit up, and Maru gave him a sincere, soft smile. He laid down in between the smokejumpers and Dusty, his back to the hangar door so he could see everyone. Usually he'd face it, looking for trouble, but Maru had gotten up to push the door shut.
So there was nothing to worry about. He could focus on his team and spend some time with them. And only them, without the worry of anything else.
A/N: Here's this chapter! I love this, Blade being all soft with his team.
