"You want me to what?!" Caroline asked while she dropped the fork onto the plate and Daryl sat back in the chair.

"I want you to go to Oceanside," Daryl said.

"Why?"

"Cyndi called askin' for some help and I thought you'd like to go."

Caroline knew Daryl had been acting very overprotective since their encounter with Alpha.

"You're hidin' me," she said after she picked up the fork and she pointed the fork at him.

"No, I'm not."

"Yeah, you are. You've been edgy ever since Alpha saw me."

"Maybe."

"Daryl, I can…."

"Yeah, I know. You can take care of yerself."

"And I know you're afraid she'll do somethin' to me. I thought we were done runnin'."

"We are. Look, why are you bein' so stubborn?"

"Why are you?"

Daryl felt the frustration coming off of her as she felt the same coming off of him and they both snorted a breath of air. They went back to eating as Caroline thought about going to Oceanside and she took a drink of what passes as coffee.

"What does Cyndi want me to do?" she finally asked while she got up and she placed the plate, fork and the glass in the sink.

"One of her people broke their wrist and leg, so she's needs someone to help with patrols and some huntin'," Daryl said.

She looked out the window while she thought things over and she placed her hands on the counter.

"So, we're talkin' about me stayin' there for, what, nine weeks?" she asked.

"Yeah."

"Nine weeks livin' at the beach?"

"Yeah."

She turned to look at him when she gave him a sly grin and she leaned against the counter.

"Wanna come with me?" she teased and Daryl softly laughed.

Oceanside

The gates opened while the guard moved back and Caroline steered the motorcycle down the trail. She had only been to Oceanside once or twice and she did admit it reminded her of the small beach towns she had gone to with her father. She could smell the salty breeze as she smiled and she stopped the motorcycle.

"Caroline," Cyndi said as she walked closer and Caroline dismounted the motorcycle after turning the engine off.

"Hey," Caroline said. She removed the backpack, quiver and crossbow from the back of the motorcycle and she placed the backpack on.

"Thanks for coming."

"Glad I can help."

"This way," Cyndi said as they walked toward the small houses and she pointed to one of them. "You'll be staying here."

"Ok," Caroline said with a nod.

"The radio shack is over there if you want to call Daryl."

"I did tell him I would once I got here."

Nodding, Cyndi walked away and Caroline walked to the house. She opened the door as she walked inside the one room house and she looked at the bed. She walked to the bed as she placed the quiver, crossbow and the backpack on the bed and she looked around the house with her eyes.

"It's only for nine weeks," she whispered then she went to get unpacked.

Alexandria

Daryl sat at the table as he looked at the radio and he felt guilty. He knew he had sent Caroline away to protect her, but he had lost too many people.

"Daryl, you there?" came from the radio as he blinked then he pushed the button.

"Yeah, I'm here," he said.

"You good?"

"Yeah."

"Don't bullshit me," Caroline said and he could just see her smiling.

"Ok, I'm not good."

"I could always come home."

"No, Cyndi needs the help," he said as he let go of the button then he pressed his lips into a thin line. "How was yer trip?"

"It was ok. I did a lot of thinkin'. Maybe bein' here will help me sort shit out."

"What sort of shit?"

"The usual."

The radio went silent and he waited for her to say something.

"I'm still here," made him flinch and he heard Caroline sighing. "How did you do it? How did you get rid of that chip on your shoulder?"

"Time and good friends," he said as he paused then he pushed the button. "And my little sister."

He thought he heard sniffing as he felt a ball of ice in his stomach and he pushed the button.

"Hey, don't cry."

"Sorry," she said.

"No, it's ok."

"Is it ok if I call every day?"

"Sure."

"Caroline," came from the radio and he heard Caroline sighing.

"Gotta go," she said and the radio signal shut off. Daryl sat at the table as he looked at the radio then he wiped the tears from his eyes with the back of his right hand, got up and he left the room.

Caroline walked down the beach while she held a bucket in her hand and she picked up a large shell out of the sand. She checked the shell for a poisonous spin then she placed the large shell in the bucket and she headed toward the waterline. She had seen some Walkers appear out of the water and she admitted they looked a lot worse than a normal Walker.

"Talk about gross," she whispered. She sat on the sand while she placed the bucket down next to her and she looked out at the water. She knew letting her mind wander so close to the water wasn't a good idea as she sighed and she placed her wrists on her knees.

She felt like she was being watched as she slowly turned her head and she saw the seagull sitting on the edge of the shipwreck sitting on the sand. She titled her head to one side as she blinked and the seagull mocked her motion. She had seen seagulls during her stay, but this one seemed different. She slowly stood as she dusted the sand off her jeans and she picked up the bucket. The seagull stayed perfectly still as she stopped near the shipwreck and she held the handle of the bucket in her hands.

"Caroline," caused the seagull to fly away as she turned and she saw Cyndi walking toward her.

"Hey," Caroline said with a nod. Cyndi stopped near her as they watched the seagull fly away and Cyndi frowned. "Did you need me for somethin'?"

"Yeah, Daryl wants to talk to you."

Nodding, Caroline walked off as she went to her house to put the bucket away then she walked to the radio room. She sat down at the radio when she pushed the button and she sighed.

"Hey," she said, letting go of the button.

"Hey," Daryl's voice said. "How're you doin'?"

"I'm ok."

"Any trouble?"

"Had to kill some Walkers the other day. Ever see a Walker come out of the ocean?"

"Yeah."

"Seawater squirt out of their bodies and they make this weird noise when you kill them."

"Yeah."

She had a feeling he was hiding something from her as she moved the chair closer to the table and she pushed the button.

"How are things on yer end?" she asked. The radio became quiet as she looked at the dials then she heard Daryl sighing.

"Not good. People are gettin' sick," he said. Caroline felt her stomach fall as she sat back in the chair and she felt like she was going to be sick.

"Caroline?" Daryl's voice asked and she sat forward.

"Do Siddiq or Dante know what's makin' them sick?" she asked.

"Nope,"

"Do you want me to come home?"

"Nope."

"What do you want me to do?"

"I need you to tell Cyndi to check the food and water supplies and to call me if anyone over there get sick."

"I will."

"You be careful."

"I will," she said as the radio went silent and she got up. She left the radio room as she went to find Cyndi and she walked a little faster.

Caroline placed the last of the shells in the glass jar when she placed the lid on and she used some sealing wax to seal the lid. She looked at the shell necklaces she had made for Daryl, Carol, Michonne, RJ and Judith as she smiled and she carefully slid the clean cloths around them. She placed the cloths in her backpack then she slid the glass jar inside and she closed the backpack.

"Caroline?" Cyndi called as Caroline walked to the front door to her house and she opened the front door. She noticed the worried look on Cyndi's face and Caroline stepped outside.

"What's wrong?" Caroline asked.

"I just got word from Daryl. He said to tell you he needs you to come back to Alexandria as soon as you can."

"Did he say why?"

"No."

"Then I better get goin'," she said when she went inside and she packed then put on the backpack. She picked up the quiver and the crossbow as she walked outside then she gave Cyndi a small hug before she headed for her motorcycle. She strapped her backpack, the crossbow and the quiver on the back of the motorcycle then she mounted the motorcycle, started the engine and she waved goodbye as the motorcycle headed down the trail.

Alexandria

The gate opened while Caroline steered the motorcycle inside and the motorcycle headed for the house. She stopped the motorcycle near Daryl's motorcycle when she put the kickstand down, turned off the engine then she removed the backpack from the back of the motorcycle. She suddenly noticed how quiet the town was as she placed the backpack on and she walked down the street. She had left the crossbow and quiver on the back of the motorcycle as she removed the knife from the holder and she held the handle of the knife in her right hand. She then saw people gathered near Gabriel as she walked closer and she placed the knife back in the holder. She went to stand next to Daryl as he glanced at her and he held out his right hand. She took his hand while they locked fingers and she glanced around with her eyes. She noticed how upset Rosita looked while Rosita held onto her infant daughter and Caroline glanced at Daryl. He nodded his head toward the grave as she looked at the headstone and her eyes slightly widened.

Gabriel finished the service as the others slowly walked away and he looked at Caroline. Daryl instinctively slid her behind him as Gabriel sighed and he shook his head. Caroline walked out from behind Daryl as she walked to the grave and she knelt down on her haunches.

"What happened?" Caroline asked as she looked at Siddiq's name.

"He was killed," Daryl said, walking to her and he knelt down on his haunches. He explained as she felt anger burning in her chest and they stood up. She looked at Gabriel as Gabriel nodded and they walked away. Daryl walked next to her as they headed for the house and she removed the quiver and crossbow from the back of the motorcycle. He took the quiver and the crossbow from her as they walked up the stairs then she paused, looking down at the stairs leading to the cell. She saw him shake his head as they went into and she closed the door behind them. He handed her the crossbow and the quiver when she went upstairs and he followed her. He followed her down the hallway when she went into her room and he stood in the doorway. "How are things at Oceanside?"

"Everything's fine," she said as she placed the crossbow and quiver on the bed, removed the backpack and she placed the backpack on the bed. "It reminded me of when I used to go to the beach with Dad. Well, except for the Walkers."

"What did you and Dad do while you were there?"

She turned to look at him with a shocked look and he leaned against the doorframe.

"That's…. That's the first time you called him "Dad"," she said and he shrugged a shoulder. "When I was little, we could set up a blanket and umbrella in the sand, play in the water and build sandcastles. When I got older, he taught me how to surf."

She noticed the sad look in his eyes when she walked to him and she gave him a little smile.

"Why are you smilin' like that?" he asked.

"Just picturin' you as a baby and you're wearin' one of those toddler bathin' suits with the suspenders to keep it up,"

He made a small snort as she lightly poked his chest and he rolled his eyes.

"I remember the first time I wore a bikini. He freaked," she said and he frowned.

"How old were you?"

"I was fifteen."

"I would have freaked, too."

"Why do I have a feelin' you would have punched any boy who would've looked at me."

"Damn right," he said with a nod. She softly laughed as she walked back to the bed and she started unpacking. She removed the cloths as she looked at them and Daryl frowned. "What're those?"

"They're shell necklaces I made fer you, Carol, Michonne, RJ and Judith," she said and she placed the cloths on the bed. She then removed the small glass jar with seashells inside and she looked at the seashells. He kicked off the doorframe when he walked to her and she held out the glass jar.

"Siddiq asked me to get some seashells fer Coco," she said and he took the glass jar in his hands.

"You should give them to Rosita," Daryl said, looking at the seashells.

"That would've been another thing we would've done with Dad," she said, taking the glass jar and she placed the glass jar on the dresser. He felt the sadness and anger coming from his twin as he walked closer and he placed his right hand on her left shoulder. She turned into him as he wrapped his arms around her and she placed her head against his shoulder. He felt her shaking when she started crying and he rubbed her back. She moved back when she went to get a clean cloth to blow her nose and she placed the clean cloth on the night table. "What is the Council gonna do with Dante?"

"Dunno. They're still talkin' about it."

"I can't believe he was workin' fer Alpha."

"He fooled all of us."

Nodding, she went to finish unpacking and he watched her. He knew she was shutting down as he walked to her and she turned, almost slamming into him.

"I'm fine," she said as she walked around him and he watched her place the dirty clothes into the laundry basket.

"I didn't ask if you weren't."

"No, but you have that look like I'm not. Like I told Lydia, I don't care what people think about me anymore. If they think I'm workin' for Alpha, that's their fuckin' problem."

Daryl nodded when she placed the backpack next to the wall then she placed the straps of the quiver and the crossbow on the pegs. She walked to the dresser when she picked up the glass jar and they left the room.

Rosita carried Coco in her arms when she walked to the front door then she opened the door. Daryl and Caroline stood on the front porch as she moved back so they could walk by her and she closed the door.

"Is there any word on Dante?" Rosita asked, adjusting her hold on her daughter.

"No, the Council's still talkin' about it," Daryl said. Nodding, she walked to the living room and they followed her. They went to sit on the couch when Rosita noticed the glass jar in Caroline's hands and she frowned.

"What is that?" Rosita asked.

Caroline looked at the glass jar when she placed the glass jar on the coffee table then she sat back.

"Siddiq contacted me and he asked me to get some seashells fer Coco," Caroline said and Rosita handed Coco to her before she picked up the glass jar. She looked at the seashells when she placed the glass jar back on the coffee table and Caroline handed Coco to Daryl. Getting up, Caroline went to sit next to Rosita as she wrapped her arms around Rosita and Rosita hugged her. Caroline felt Rosita's body shaking while Daryl got up and he carried Coco out of the room. Rosita calmed down a few minutes later as she removed the clean cloth from her jean pocket and she wiped her nose.

"Thank you," Rosita said and Caroline nodded. Rosita noticed the look in her eyes as she smiled and shook her head. "I don't think you're working for Alpha."

"I know you don't," Caroline said. Daryl walked back in the room while he fed Coco a bottle and Rosita arched an eyebrow.

"Where did you learn how to feed a baby?" Rosita asked.

"I had a friend who was a single mom. She showed me how," Daryl said, looking at Coco.

"I'm amazed she let you feed her. She only lets me, Eugene, Gabriel or…."

She paused as he nodded and Rosita stood, walked to him and she took the baby.

"Thank you for coming," Rosita said as Caroline stood and they walked to the door. Rosita opened the door while Daryl and Caroline left then she closed the door. She walked back to the living room when she sat down on the couch and she picked up the glass jar. She looked at the seashells when she blinked the tears out of her eyes and she sat back against the cushion.

Daryl and Caroline walked side-by-side when she glanced at him and she slid her hands into the pocket of her jeans.

"What?" he asked.

"Just thinkin' how natural you looked while you were feedin' Coco," she said and she lightly nudged him.

"Natural?"

"Like you would make a great dad."

"Nah."

"Yeah. I mean, look how you are with Lydia, Henry, RJ and Judith."

He gave her a slightly annoyed look as they headed for the house and he shook his head.

"This friend… The single mom…. Was she your girlfriend?" she suddenly asked. He knew she wouldn't drop the subject and he glanced at her.

"No. She was just a friend," Daryl said.

"How did you meet?"

"We met at a bar."

"Did Merle have anythin' to do with you meetin' her?"

"Yeah. He thought it was time fer me to…"

He went silent as they kept walking and she waited for him to say something.

"He thought it was time fer me to have someone in my life," he continued and she nodded.

"How did you react when you found out she had a kid?" she asked.

"I was alright with it."

"What happened?"

"She met someone, got married and they moved to Savannah."

"I still think you'd make a great dad," she said as they went up the stairs and they went inside the house.

The door opened while Dante sat in the cell and he was tied to the chair. He watched Daryl and Caroline walking toward the bars and he saw the anger in their eyes.

"Well, look who it is," Dante said. Neither of them said a word as he sighed and he looked at the ceiling. "Have they decided to let me out or are you here to kill me?"

"Shut it," Daryl said and Dante snorted a laugh.

"You think you're safe, don't you? You're not. She knows about you."

"What're you talkin' about?"

"Let me spell it out for you. The doctors from the Kingdom were able to save all the medical files and they made copies for us, Hilltop and Oceanside. Imagine Siddiq's surprise when he found out about the two of you. He was so shocked that he shared the information with me!"

"Are you sayin' you told Alpha Daryl and I are twins?" Caroline asked.

"Hell yeah. Though, if I'm gonna be honest, I'm amazed she didn't take your head and put it on a pike. Maybe she has something else planned."

Caroline felt the anger coming from her twin when she turned, saw a broom sitting against the wall and she walked to the broom. She removed the brush part as she walked to the cell door and Daryl looked at her.

"Open the door," Caroline said. He heard the icy tone to her voice when Daryl unlocked then opened the cell door and she walked to Dante. She stood in front of him as Dante sneered at her then he yelped after she bumped the end of the broom handle between his legs.

"What the hell are you doing?!" Dante demanded.

"Did you really tell Alpha about me and Daryl?"

"Yes," he said then he yelped when she bumped the broom handle between his legs again.

"Did you tell her!?"

"Daryl, are you gonna let her do this?!"

"Yeah," Daryl said with a nod. He watched Caroline move closer to Dante's face as they locked eyes and Dante saw the look in her eyes.

"Did you tell her?" Caroline growled and Dante swallowed the lump in his throat.

"No," he finally said, looking down. He noticed the stain on his jeans as he sighed and she used the broom handle to lift his head. He felt his airway closing as she pushed the broom handle against his throat then she turned, walking out of the cell. She tossed the broom handle on the floor while Daryl close and lock the cell door and they left the room.

Daryl watched Caroline walking in front of him when she walked up the stairs then she went inside. He looked down at the window to the cell then he went inside and he closed the door behind him. He saw Caroline standing in the hallway as he walked closer and she turned to look at him.

"Go ahead. Yell. I went too far," she said and she waited for him to say something.

"He pissed himself," Daryl said and she swore the corner of his mouth went up.

"Yeah, he did."

"Wanna get somethin' to eat?"

"Sure," she said and they walked down the hallway, going in the kitchen.
