It had been a little while since the first elimination of the season, yet Jianne couldn't help but return to the escape pod room, thinking about how she was almost sent away just after arriving. A glance out the glass still showed Taylor's pod headed towards Earth, but much further away. She watched the thing shrink and shrink until, suddenly, it was gone from her sight. She turned to her device, wondering how long it had been. One and a half hours since Taylor was sent away, but Jianne still felt that she had a brush with weakness again. She needed something to take her mind off of it, but what would it be.

"Play," an ominous voice said, not clear where it was coming from. "I love it when you play."

"When I play?" Jianne thought, sounding awfully...weaker than she normally did. "I'm pretty good at it..."

"No, no, no! The bessssst!"

"The best? I don't think that's a great way to think..."

"Yes, yes! Great way to think! Play!"

"I guess I could play..."

"Yesssss."

Snapping back to the reality of the situation, Jianne had made up her mind. She turned from the escape pod room, twisting and jimmying through many different halls and corridors until she finally reached her room that she had just made her temporary home. Shutting the door tightly, she let out a long sigh, looking around at her bags, which were still mostly packed. Next to her suitcases on the floor, a decently sized leather case had been laid out, sparkling as if it had just been polished. She clicked the two locks open, bringing up the lid of the case to reveal a gorgeous violin. She had to hesitate as she looked at it though. Should she really play?

...

...

"Play...please play..." the ominous voice uttered, sounding almost...sad in a way.

...

...

...

Without further ado, she pulled the violin from the case, tuning it at an almost inhuman pace. Grabbing her ribbon, she sat the violin in position to play, closing her eyes as she let the ribbon dance across its strings, creating a melody that resonated well in her head. She couldn't help but smile, hearing herself make the noise. Before she knew it, more and more minutes had passed, the time lost seeming insignificant in comparison to the respect for herself that she was gaining.

...

...

...

"I'd rather listen to someone play, it would be better..." the weak sounding version of herself meekly mentioned.

"No! You're the best!" the ominous voice shouted.

"I'm not..."

"The best!"

...

...

...

She abruptly stopped playing, setting the violin down in its case. Now ignoring the ominous voice, she didn't know how to pass the time. She locked the case, hiding the violin from the world once more. Pacing did nothing, but cause an overwhelming desire to prove herself again and again. Sometimes, she knew how she was acting was wrong, but she couldn't force herself to stop. It made no sense not to. It made her think about...bad things, things that she swore to overcome. With a frown on her face, she hopped into her bed, shutting her eyes and forcing herself to fall asleep.
