Chapter 11: Last Preparations
Age: 756
Trunks has been stuck in the past for nearly two years now. While in the past he has decided to train Chi-Chi to compete in the 23rd Tenkaichi Budokai. The tournament draws closer and closer each day, only two months remain and the duo continue to vigorously train in their spot in the forest for the event.
"Do I honestly have to wear this blindfold? This is ridiculous," The princess complained.
There was no answer for the young woman only the sounds of leaves falling in the wind. 'He doesn't want to give away where his location, understandable,' She realized.
Chi-Chi took a deep breath and started focusing on the area around her, sensing for life energy. 'I'll never be able to get used to this feeling, I can feel everything. I can feel the trees, the flowers, the birds above, the squirrels, and I can feel...wait there he is!' The young woman started to think in amazement before finding her objective.
Chi-Chi leaped forward into the thicket, passing by tree after tree until she arrived deep within the forest stopping in front a small bush. She could hear a rustling noise come from behind it. "You know you're really getting the hang of sensing ki Chi-Chi," Trunks complimented as he stood from behind the shrubbery.
"Can I take the blindfold off now?" She asked.
Trunks just smiled before answering, "Yeah you can," he replied.
Chi-Chi lifted it off of her face and blinked, her eyes still trying to adjust to the change in light. "I'm sure you're going to do great in this tournament Chi-Chi," Trunks commended.
"Thanks," she said as she walked forward giving him a kiss on the cheek.
Trunks responded with a kiss of his own but this time grabbing her chin to bring her closer to kiss her lips. After they broke off the kiss the two just looked at one another for a moment with a smile, 'This...This is the happiest period of my life,' Trunks thought to himself. 'He's amazing,' Chi-Chi concluded.
Following their staring Chi-Chi began to speak again, "Hey Trunks, do you want to show dad the time machine today so you can tell him what parts you need?" Chi-Chi asked.
"Yeah don't see why we couldn't do it today," Trunks commented.
The couple began to fly off out of the forest and towards Ox Castle. 'You know I don't think he's ever said if he's going to... Let me just ask him,' Chi-Chi thought. "Hey Trunks!" Chi-Chi blurted out as they flew, turning her head to meet the young man.
He looked over in response, "What is it?" he asked.
"Are you going to compete in the tournament too?" She said.
"No I wasn't planning on joining," He answered.
"You should do it though," Chi-Chi told him.
"Eh, I don't know Chi-Chi I'm already changing the past just by being with you I don't know about joining an event like the tournament," He replied.
"I get that, but it'd be a great opportunity for me to test how strong I've gotten," she said with a smile.
"But Chi-Chi, the timeline, its kind of important" Trunks reminded with a faint smile.
"Alright, but you could show how big a threat the androids are if they see how strong you are," she encouraged.
"But, I don't know.." Trunks stammered.
"Pleeeeaseeee?" Chi-Chi asked of him.
As he looked at her she could see her fluttering her eyes, 'She's doing that on purpose, she's doing that on purpose, she's doing that on purpose,' Trunks kept telling himself as they went along through the sky.
"I'd really appreciate it," she asked in a soft voice.
'Goddamnit,' Trunks lamented, "Fine," Trunks stammered out.
'Works, every time,' Chi-Chi thought proudly. A smile filled the young woman's place as they flew towards Ox Castle.
The two eventually made their way to the castle, they went inside through the open window in Trunks's room. Chi-Chi went to lay down on his bed, "Its so nice to come home to a nice bed after training," she said with contentment.
"...You do know that's my bed Chi-Chi?" the saiyan asked.
Chi-Chi looked up at him before replying, "And?" she said with a smile.
Trunks just answered with a smile of his own before plopping down on the bed with her. Chi-Chi wrapped her arms around him, "I love you Trunks,"
He looked down at her and then looked around. 'I don't if I'll ever be in this great a place again,' Trunks thought. A tear began to fall down his face, Chi-Chi's face turned from enjoyment to concern, "Are you okay, Trunks?" she said in a worried tone.
Trunks looked towards her face, "Yeah, I'm alright just... happy," he answered.
Chi-Chi released a sigh of relief, "You're so sweet," she commented as the two embraced.
A few hours had passed and one could tell the Ox King was approaching the room as large thumps could be heard going up the stairs. "I wonder what they've been doing they should've been back awhile ago," Ox King said to himself as he continued getting closer to Trunks's room.
Ox King knocked on the door. There was no reply, "You guys okay in there?" He asked.
He opened the door a peered across the room, and saw the two teens sleeping in the bed together, "AWW THAT'S SO CUTE! MY LITTLE GIRL IS REALLY GROWING UP!" He shouted as tears began to flow down his face.
Trunks began to sit up, "What?" He asked out loud, dazed.
He turned to see the large man, "Oh," Trunks said to himself upon realization.
Trunks looked down at Chi-Chi, shrugging her to wake her up, "Chi-Chi we fell asleep come on wake up," he told her.
"Huh," she said as her eyes had barely awoken.
"Oh hey, dad," she said looking at him, "What it is?"
The large man wiping away all the tears began to reply to his daughter, "Oh, well its time to eat and I didn't know where you two were so I thought that this would be a good place to look,"
"Alright we'll be down in a few minutes," Chi-Chi answered.
Ox King went out the door the way he came. The two teens followed shortly after having their eyes get used to the light. When they finally started to eat there were two massive plates of various meats and herbs. One was quickly eaten by Trunks alone, while the Ox royals finished the other. "Hey Trunks why don't you show dad the machine," Chi-Chi reminded.
"Oh yeah," Trunks replied as he reached into his jacket grabbing a hoi poi capsule, pressing the button at the top before throwing it several feet in front of him. A cloud of smoke filled the room, before leaving to let the monarch see the machine he had heard about. "Woah, I know Chi-Chi already told me what it looks like but its still so crazy to see a real life time machine," He said astounded.
"Hehe, yeah I get a little overwhelmed by time travel too," Trunks replied.
Trunks opened part of the covering of the machine to show the king what parts had been destroyed and which parts he would need to make it operational again. "Yeah I'll just tell some of my advisors what you need and they'll get it, but um where exactly are you going to go?" The Ox King inquired.
"Well after the first trip the machine was pretty busted, so I'm going to try and go to 767 since that was where I was originally planning to go second, that's when the androids show up," he explained.
"Why don't you just stay here?" Ox King said.
"Well, I thought about it, and I can't really stay here, like I'd love to and this has been the happiest time of my life, but I need to let the warriors of Earth get stronger on their own to prepare for the androids you know," he replied.
Chi-Chi looked down for a moment and let out a sigh. 'Leaving is going to be hard' He told himself.
"What about after you guys beat the androids," Ox King asked.
"Well, I'm not exactly sure, if we beat them I'll try to figure out a way to stay here though," he said with a smile. 'I hope that gives Chi-Chi some hope,' he thought.
Chi-Chi let out a faint smile before joining in the conversation with here smile growing even stronger, "Don't worry Trunks we'll stop them alright!" she exclaimed.
Trunks grinned at the idea. 'No androids, no terror, no destruction, just... peace' he thought.
"Well, we are going to miss you Trunks," Ox King said.
"...Yeah, I know, but don't worry I'm going to come back," he said feigning a smile to keep the mood as light as he could.
The three finished their meals, and Ox King went to tell one of his advisors what the young saiyan needed. Night approached and as Trunks went to his room to go to sleep he heard a knock on his door. "Come in," he instructed.
After the door swung open he could see Chi-Chi standing in view, "What is it Chi-Chi?" he asked.
"Can...Can I sleep with you?" she said her voice a little faint.
"Yeah, no problem," he answered.
As she walked towards him she gave him a tight hug, "Is something wrong Chi-Chi?" he asked.
"I just... I'm just sad about you having to go," she told him.
Trunks just closed his eyes and gave her a tight hug in response, "I know, I know Chi-Chi I am too,"
For a moment the world stopped for the duo, all that mattered was one another. As they embraced there were no thoughts of androids, tournaments, or demons filled their thoughts just one another.
Author's Note: So um, this is my first one of these, ever. I hope you liked this chapter as next time the 23rd Tenkaichi Budokai FINALLY STARTS, so you know what that means more characters, more action, and more character interaction. I've been looking forward to typing all of that stuff out and let's how bad the timeline goes off course because of Trunks's mess up next time on Time Misplacement Chapter 12: The Preliminaries!
