Edward - EPOV

"Stop, Bella, this isn't you. Can't you see what is happening with you? They are turning you into a monster. You're not one of them, Bella. You're loving and kind. It's me, Bella, I'm your Edward. You love me. Come back to me, love, and you can be yourself again."

Demetri - DPOV

I watch in awe as my Bella stalks toward Edward. Her movements are those of a warrior and she looks positively lethal. His words make her stop her approach and for a fraction of a second my venom freezes in my veins. I register the hope in Edward's eyes as Bella raises her hand slowly in his direction. Panic strikes in the heart of me and I can barely keep myself from pulling her back into my arms. I can feel a wave of reassurance wash over me and I throw Jasper a questioning look. He gives me a quick smile and mouths 'just watch'.

I turn my gaze back to my lovely wife who is still standing across from Edward with her hand raised. The hope on Edward's face grows with every passing second until Bella pulls her hand back. The next thing he sees is her fist as she aims for his face. A sickening crack resonates throughout the clearing and Edward falls to his knees. Bella lifts his head with her fingers and I can see the cracks in his face. She must have hit him real hard. God, I love her so much.

Bella – BPOV

Edward's words stun me. I stop my advance because his belief that I'm not myself is maddening, to say the least. And don't get me started on his continued disregard of my love for Demetri. He is completely out of his mind. I slowly raise my hand as if wanting to touch him and I smirk internally as I see the hope in his eyes. Damn, he's one fucked-up vampire if he still believes that I will ever stop loving my Demi.

The only feelings that I have left for Edward Cullen are disgust and pity. I let them wash through me and let them feed my anger for what he tried to do. He tried to kill my mate and he wasn't even brave enough to do it himself. Edward Cullen is a lying, backstabbing coward and he is going to pay for that.

I notice an exchange between Jasper and Demetri from the corner of my eye and I realize what this must look like for Demetri. Jasper is trying to reassure him because he can feel what is going on inside me. I let a few more seconds pass and watch as the hope in Edward's eyes grows even more. I smirk as I pull back my hand and put all my force in the punch that hits his face. I hear his skin crack and watch him fall to his knees. I lift his head with my fingers and say:

"My Edward left me all alone in the forest after he told me he didn't love. He told me that I was just a distraction. My Edward broke my heart and it was Demetri that put it back together. He loves me for who I truly am. He loves every part of me, my opinion matters to him, I am his equal in every way and he would never hurt me. I'm not a monster. I defend the one I love, just like every other mated vampire out there would and I love my husband very much. He is all I'll ever need.

You conspired against the head of the Volturi guard. You threatened what is mine and you will pay for that. You won't die today. Hell no, I won't give you the satisfaction because you would only see it as a confirmation that I really am a monster like you say. I will play by the book but you are going to beg me to kill you before this is all over."

I turn around and take my place next to my mate, before saying: "Felix, I want him to stand trial before the masters. Find a way to get him to Volterra. I don't care if it's in pieces or as a whole, just make sure he gets there."

Demetri - DPOV

My Bella never ceases to amaze me. The monster inside me purrs at her display of force and her words make me love her even more. She's going to kick my ass if she finds out that I panicked when she stopped her attack on Edward. It's going to hurt like hell, but I deserve it. I give her a loving smile as she takes her place by my side. I smirk at Edward when I hear Bella say: "Felix, I want him to stand trial before the masters. Find a way to get him to Volterra. I don't care if it's in pieces or as a whole, just make sure he gets there."

Felix raises his brow questioningly, but I shoot him down immediately: "You heard my wife, Felix. Her command is my command. Take him away. We leave for Volterra as soon as possible. Jane, call the airport and get our bags. I'll report to the Masters after we deal with the mutt. We'll meet each other at the main house." Felix nods and moves to Edward. Jasper and Emmett take a step back and watch as Felix drags their brother away. Jane gives me a nod as well and follows them into the forest.

I take Bella's hand and give it a soft squeeze as I turn to look at the rest of the Cullens. Carlisle is holding Esme close while Rose and Alice stand tall next to Emmett and Jasper. I nod to Alec to pull back his gift from the shape-shifter and all of us watch as he slowly regains his senses. Let's see if we can reason with this boy. His only fault was that he believed every lie Edward told him. Let's hope his true loyalty lies with his tribe or he won't leave this clearing alive.

Jacob curses as he opens his eyes and notices the lot of us staring down at him. His eyes snap from Carlisle to Bella and then to me. He huffs and growls: "What are you looking at, leech?" Bella takes a step forward and hisses: "You don't have to love him, Jake, but can you at least show my husband the respect he deserves. I won't stop him from hurting you if you keep taunting him." He stares at Bella for a brief moment, shrugs his shoulders, and says: "Whatever".

I roll my eyes internally at his pubescent behavior and move to stand beside my wife. "Jacob Black, you took it upon yourself to attack us. You took the words of a jealous fool over the worth of a decades-old treaty. How will your pack members react when they learn of your betrayal?" I wait for the reality to sink in. I doubt that the boy realized what the consequences of his actions would be if he had succeeded in killing me. He looks at me with a smug look and says:

"No, I just wanted to help Bella. I didn't break the treaty. I didn't attack one of the Cullens, I attacked you. You're not covered by the treaty. You're a human drinker. We protect our tribe from monsters like you." I snort at his response and say: "You joined your natural enemy in a foolish quest to revenge the death of a girl that loves neither of you. If Bella hadn't interfered and I would have succeeded in killing you, what would your pack have done? How do you think all of this would have ended if you had succeeded in killing me? Do you really believe that Bella would have spared even one Quileute life? Don't you realize, boy, that your selfish actions almost started a war?"

His eyes open wide in horror as he falls to his knees. Well, I guess that equals no as an answer to my question. "Jacob Black, you will remember this day as the day in which your tribe escaped annihilation. You will tell your elders how the Volturi spared your life, even though you attacked us without reason. Your tribe will continue to honor the treaty with the Cullens. If not, we will come and destroy your whole tribe. Mark my word. The Volturi don't give second chances."

Bella – BPOV

God, my mate is glorious as he stands there, towering above a horrified Jake. All the Greek gods crumble when compared to Demetri, captain of the guard, and my husband. I feel my lust rising rapidly so I tone it down. This isn't the right time but rest assured. I'm going to make love to my Demi the moment I get him alone somewhere. I listen as he confronts Jake with his actions. He is right in his assessment. If Jake had succeeded in killing my Demi, I would have hunted every last member of his tribe down to settle the score.

I don't see myself as a monster but losing Demetri would unleash an unseen side of me, I'm sure of that. I love him with all my heart and this world is worth nothing to me if he's not here with me. I would end the lives of everyone involved in his death, before walking into a burning pyre to end my own life. Some part of me understands Victoria's need for revenge. The fact that she lost her mate because he was an overconfident sadist still stands though. It was his own fault he died, not mine. She paid the same price in the end.

I watch as Jake stumbles to his feet and bows his head slightly to Demetri and Carlisle. Well, at least he's making progress in the respect department. "I will deliver your message and we will continue to honor the treaty. My tribe will not suffer for a mistake that I made. I will dedicate my life to its protection. You have my word." He seems to hesitate as his gaze falls on me and takes a deep breath before continuing. "Be happy, Bella. I only ever wanted you to be happy."

"Demetri is all that I need to be happy, Jake. He's the best thing that ever happened to me. I love him with all my heart." Jake nods as a small smile lights his face. Demetri pulls me close and kisses the top of my head. I sigh happily as I lean into his embrace. Jake turns around and sheds Felix's cape as he runs toward the forest. I hear a whispered "I'll miss you, Bella", right before he shifts into a wolf and disappears into the woods.

Alec moves to pick up Felix's cape but keeps it at arm's length. I snicker at the look on his face. "Maybe we better burn it; I don't think we'll ever be able to get the stench out." Alec nods and walks to the pyre to throw the cloak in the fire. Demetri turns to Carlisle and says: "Our mission is complete, Carlisle. We did as was promised. The crimes of your son however require further action and we are taking him to Volterra to stand trial as my wife demanded. I suspect that your presence will be asked for, so I suggest that you and your family come with us."

Demetri - DPOV

I wait for Carlisle's response as my hand draws small circles on the small of Bella's back. I can't wait to have her alone. I need to show her how much I love her and how incredibly amazing she is. Carlisle's voice pulls me from my thoughts. "We accept your invitation to travel with you to Volterra and will go to the house to pack immediately. Demetri, I want you to know that we didn't know anything about Edward's plans. He acted on his own volition. I should have realized how deep his hatred for you went when he refused to see how much Bella loves you. I'm…"

I raise my hand to stop Carlisle from saying more. "Your love for your son blinded you and Esme, Carlisle. That love can either be your salvation or your impending doom. You know Master Aro better than most vampires out there. You were already walking a thin line because you exposed our existence to a human. Don't give him any more reason to punish you." He nods before running out of the clearing, the rest of his family close behind. I send Alec back to the house to help Felix and Jane. The smirk on his face tells me that he knows exactly what I'm up to next.

I pull Bella flush against my chest even before Alec leaves the clearing. My hands move to grab her ass and her moan is enough to get me hard in an instant. She moves her head to the side so that I can kiss her mark and I groan as she tries to pull me even closer to get some friction.

"You're incredible, amore mio. God, you're so fucking perfect. I love you so much."

"Make love to me, Demi. I'll never want anyone but you. I can't believe that I almost lost you. Please, complete me as only you can."

I kiss her passionately as Bella tries to take off my clothes. I pull back a little and say: "Don't you want to go to the cabin first, tesoro?" Bella's eyes are pitch-black and I can smell her sweet arousal through her clothes. She unbuttons my pants and pulls them down in the same motion. Before I can say anything more, Bella drops to her knees and takes my member into her mouth. My groan travels across the clearing. "Fuck, Bella!"

I swear that I'm seeing stars as Bella scraps her teeth across my member. My Bella is just full of surprises. God, this feels so good but I don't want to come like this. I need to be inside her as I come. I want to complete her as she completes me in every way possible. I pull back and spread my cloak before undressing my gorgeous wife and laying her down. I move in between her legs and slowly push myself into her wet core. Bella's eyes roll back as she hisses in pleasure. "Yes!"

I start moving in and out at a tantalizingly slow pace. There's only my Bella and me at this moment as we move together as only lovers can. Our movements grow more frantic as we both feel our orgasm building up inside us. Bella's nails dig into my shoulders as her orgasm hits her like a thunderstorm and I groan as she pulls me over the edge with her. "Bella!" Yes, I'm definitely seeing stars.

I fall to Bella's side and pull her close against me. I kiss the top of her head and she lets her fingers travel across my torso. "Ti amo, cara mia." Bella lifts her head and I can see all the love she feels for me in the pools of her eyes. "I love you too, Demi, more than you will ever know." I smile and kiss the top of her nose as I realize that the night is falling. Fuck, I have to call Aro with an update. I can only imagine his reaction when I tell him Edward conspired with a shapeshifter to have me killed and that Bella stopped it from happening with her shield. I give Bella another kiss before pulling out my phone.

Edward - EPOV

I let Felix lead me back to the house. There's no way I can overpower him and Demetri will find me if I try to run. I sigh as I hear the rest of the family enters the house. They all move to their rooms and start packing. From their thoughts, I can gather that they're joining me on my trip to Volterra. I can't believe it. Now they care enough to help me?! I begged them to free Bella from that monster and they let me fight Demetri alone.

I throw Felix a hateful glance as I focus on my own thoughts and memories. It helps me block everything else out. I think back to the day that I saved Bella in Port Angeles and I just know that I'll be able to save her again this time. I just need Aro to read my mind and he'll see how much I love her. He will be able to tell Bella just how true and genuine my love for her really is. Carlisle will certainly help me convince his old friend of my pure intentions. Yes, maybe going back to Volterra is a good thing after all.

Alice - APOV

I can't believe that Edward actually tried to get Demetri killed. He came this close to ruining Bella's happiness and I am so mad at myself for not knowing beforehand. I have to talk with Carlisle about this but I think that Jacob Black interferes with my visions somehow. That's the only explanation I can come up with for this whole mess. What good is my gift if I can't protect the ones I care for? I huff as Jasper enters the room. He snickers at my emotions and rushes to my side to pull me close. "What got you all worked up? Everyone is fine, Alice. You can relax now."

A vision washes over me as I open my mouth to respond. I see Aro sitting in what looks like a study as the phone rings. He picks up with a smile and says: "Demetri, I was wondering when you were going to call. Did everything go as planned?" I watch as Aro's face goes through quite a few different emotions before settling for unrefined anger. His response leaves no room for interpretation. "He dared to conspire against the Volturi?! He attempted to kill the captain of my guard and to break my daughter's heart?! Bring him to me, Demetri. I will make him regret the day he was born."
