Chapter 12: Doom
Johnny and I took off to the sky as fast as we reach the shore, I know is a bad moment to think about it, but it feels kinda nice to fly around with Johnny it could be like our thing...I guess, but before I think about it more we arrived the balcony in the lab floor of the tower.
"Johnny!" - Called out Sue running to her brother and tackling him in a hug - "you had me so worried" - she said before separating and punch him in the chest earning a yelp from him and a laugh from me - "don't ever do that again" - she added
"Sorry" - said Johnny rubbing his chest - "you still have a heavy hand" - he added
"I think he is not sorry enough, maybe you can punch him again" - I said turning back into flesh and smirk at them
"Don't make me punch you too Emmet" - treated Sue making me put both of my hands up in surrender and step back a little hoping she doesn't comply
"Ok, treats a side, did you guys contacted Nick Fury?" - I ask
"Yeah he called Falcon and Winter Soldier to solve the Doom problem" - explains Reed
"This is my fault, I shouldn't have let him talk me into using the machine" - said Ben with his arms crossed looking away from us, he had more fitting clothes on
"No it's not your fault Ben come on, we are all guilty in here" - said Sue
"I didn't do anything" - said Johnny with his hand up like a kid asking permission to speak in a class
"You were all caught up in the fame" - I said rolling my eyes - "Reed and Sue were trying to work on a solution but were caught up with themselves and for the cherry on top I helped him build the machine" - I explain
"You are right, is all on us" - said Reed - "and we need to do something about it since we are guilty about him going out of control" - he added
"Didn't we just do something by calling Nick Fury?" - I asked
"They are gonna need our help, Doom show us that he can absorb energy and project it while fighting us, that is hard to beat, how do you think a guy with a wing suit and another one with a machine gun have a chance alone with him?" - explained Reed
"Wow Reed what a way to shade the heroes that helped bring us back a year ago" - I said surprised by his words
"But is the truth, if he was a problem for Sue and me with our powers, imagine for them trying to survive an attack from him" - said Reed
"I thought Winter Soldier was injected with the same serum they did for Captain America" - said Ben
"See? He can survive it" - I said
"What about Falcon? He doesn't have that" - said Sue
"We are lucky to have survived his attacks towards us, we are not superheroes" - I explain - "we have no experience using our abilities, they do" - I add
"The bridge situation says otherwise and what about what we just did with the missile? I think we are capable to help" - said Johnny
"Even if we go, where do we find him?" - asked Sue
"The electrical substation" - said Reed - "if he wants more power that is the perfect place to supply for him with all the power he wants and maybe even more if he knows how to work it out" - he explained
"He knows, if he didn't he wouldn't have help me work the machine" - said Ben
"Did you guys inform Nick Fury about that?" - I asked
"Yeah, they must be trying to intercept him somewhere" - said Reed then his phone ringed and he took it out frowning at the message or whatever he got send - "it's Fury, they found Doom and are trying to stop him, he send me a link for a feed" - he explained before clicking stuff on his phone
Whatever Richards did made the TV turn on and show us the feed, we could see Falcon who was using Captain America's shield and Winter Soldier using his shotgun fighting Doom trying to stop him with the help of some agents from S.H.I.E.L.D., they were doing a nice job but still seemed to struggle as nothing didn't seem to hurt Doom.
"Do you think he send you that feed to convince us to go there?" - asked Sue
"He does want us to operate as the "Fantastic Four" with their supervision, kinda like The Avengers, since they are basically working on their own in different places is not the same, even he explain us he is been trying to build a new team, but he want us to be another source of operation" - explained Reed
"What about the X-Men? Weren't they operating when most of The Avengers disappeared during The Snap" - asked Ben
"According to him the X-Men work on their own, solving mutant issues that manifested even more after The Snap, he told us that he only communicate with them in case something big comes up or something on their lane" - explained Sue
"I think this qualifies as something big or their lane" - I said
"They don't need to call them, we can go" - insisted Johnny
"Didn't you just hear all my explanation about us being lucky and inexperienced?" - I ask crossing my arms over my chest
"He is right" - said a voice making us turn around and see Professor Storm
"Dad, come on you know we can stop him" - said Johnny
"You are also right" - said Professor Storm
"Ok, I'm confused, you are saying we should go and try to be lucky at stopping Doom with our inexperience?" - I asked
"That's exactly what I mean" - said Professor Storm - "look at the screen" - he said pointing at the scene of Winder Soldier, Falcon and every S.H.I.E.L.D. still shooting at Doom without much use before he disarm everybody and used some sort of energy that expanded from him to push everybody to ground - "you guys are going through the same as him, he is just as stronger as each one of you with the difference that he is alone, but you 5 are together in this, which makes you even stronger" - he explained
"They want the Fantastic Four, not Phantom" - I say rolling my eyes
"Well we are basically the "Fantastic Three" now that Ben is normal again, so we could use having you around to be the new fourth member" - said Johnny
"So you wanna replace Effie White with a Michelle Morris?" - I ask earning a confuse look from the group
"Anyway, Ben can't go, you should come with us" - said Johnny
"Why can't I go?" - asked Ben
"Dude, look down at yourself, you aren't rock anymore" - said Johnny
"Yeah Ben you could get hurt" - said Sue
"I wanna go, this is part my fault too" - said Ben - "besides I was in the military in case you guys forgot about that and I could get hurt there as well" - he added
"But this isn't just avoid bullets and mines Ben, this is going against someone with a superpowers, you aren't coming" - said Reed
"This means we are going?" - asked Johnny
"We are" - said Reed turning to Sue who seem to hesitate but nod as well and then he turned to look at me
"Fuck...I'm going too, I can't let you guys go alone" - I said
"Don't worry Silverman, I got your back so don't need to get scared" - said Johnny putting an arm around my shoulders and I roll my eyes at him
"We better move now" - said Reed
"I'll take you guys in the helicopter to arrive faster" - said Professor Storm
"Let's go" - said Ben
"Ben for real, stay, we don't want you to get hurt" - said Reed
"But I-" - started to say Ben
"Ben please" - pleaded Sue looking at him making him sigh
"Fine, please be safe guys" - said Ben crossing his arms
"We will" - said Reed
"Emmet and I will go flying, meet you guys there" - said Johnny grabbing my hand and walked us to the balcony
"Did you just choose for me what I'm going to do?" - I asked arching an eyebrow
"It's obvious for us to go flying, besides I wanted to do this before we go to stop Doom" - said Johnny pulling me to him and kiss me
While we kiss he move his hands to hold onto my waist while I slowly move my arms to tangle around his neck, now this is a kiss you guys, not the PG-13 version we did while I was flickering, here we even have tongue action.
"What was that for?" - I asked when we separate from the kiss breathing heavy
"For luck before our first Fantastic Four + Phantom mission" - said Johnny with a cocky smirk making me shake my head as we approached the balcony to take off into the sky
A/N: Don't worry Sam and Bucky, The Fantastic Four are going to help you guys soon enough, now you guys see why I have them as Special Guests on the fic? Is just a little thing more than a cameo but also part of the plot so there it is, if you guys remember I have other special guests are they gonna be part of the Doom battle too? Or are they gonna be on later chaters? You guys need to tune in for next chapter to know.
By the way I was doing the numbers and I may end this book the week before Christmas Eve (a little Night Before Christmas reference, one of my favorite movies ever) so I can "enjoy" my holidays and have a little break from Wattpad...but who knows, I still have other fics (The Prince and the Teen Wolf ones) with chapters to come and tbh I'm not big on Christmas it always mess up with my depression so...we'll see.
