With most of the first-year students appearing to be lost with the new scenery around them, professor Goodwitch decided it necessary to broadcast a brief announcement over the PA urging all first-year students to report to the cliffs at the back of Beacon so they can begin with their initiation and with her commanding tone and barely hidden frustration ever-present in her voice the first years panicked and rushed to the back of Beacon overlooking the Emerald forest so that their tenure at Beacon can begin.

With all students present and accounted for professor Goodwitch and both Ozpins stood before the eager and somewhat uneasy new beginners so that the headmaster can fill them in on the objectives to complete as part of their initiation.

"For years you have trained to become warriors and today your abilities will be evaluated in the Emerald forest you see before you."

With the headmaster taking a quick sip from his mug professor Goodwitch also stepped forward to clear up any prior rumours in regards to teams.
"Now, I'm sure many of you have heard rumours about the assignment of teams. Well, allow us to put an end to your confusion. Each of you will be given teammates… Today."

At the sudden revelation, the young Ruby could only let a startled squeak with each additional detail revealed only aiding to crack and then break the young huntress's composure.
"These teammates will be with you for the rest of your time at Beacon so it is in your best interest to be paired with someone whom you can work well… That being said the first person you make eye contact with after landing will be your partner for the next four years."

As Ruby's composure finally broke with a loud glass break Talon stepped forward to give the final breath of the speech however as he did the expression and air around him quickly morphed into one of apathetic professionalism and intensity.

"After you have partnered up, make your way to the northern end of the forest. You will meet opposition along the way. Do not hesitate to destroy everything of resistance in your path, or you will die.

You will be monitored and graded for the duration of your initiation by the instructors before you, but they will not intervene if situations arise. You will be on your own save for your partner for any encounters you face."

As the younger male finishes his warning as to the circumstances, they must prepare for the headmaster steps forward to give one final overview of the objective they are to complete.

"You will find an abandoned temple at the end of the path containing several relics. Each pair must choose one, and return to the top of this very cliff. We will regard that item, as well as your standing and grade you appropriately. Are there any questions?"

At this Jaune nervously questions how they will be getting to the forest but is cut off by Talon commanding them to take positions before uttering 'fire' and at this, the metal pads beneath each student begin systematically launching them into the air and towards the forest below. With each student being catapulted one by one Jaune questions what the landing strategy is and if they were handing out parachutes however to this professor Ozpin just commented that no they will be falling and it is up to them to devise a plan of how to land themselves. To this Jaune is promptly launched flailing around as the last student and Talon yells to the blonde to try tucking and rolling when he lands.

With each student now in mid-air and rapidly heading towards the ground in the middle of the forest Talon direct his attention towards professor Goodwitch.

"Its good to see you again Glynda, Gideon was dying to come back but he got caught up with his duties and the final part of his training. Told him time and time again to finish up all that coursework but he's got his garden going now and you know how he gets."

At the mention of her adopted son, a small smile spread across Glynda's face before questioning on the 'garden' Talon had mentioned.

"I did not think of all thinks James would have you trained in botany?"

"Oh he didn't, in fact, they were against the concept of housing a greenhouse on base but I promised Gideon that he could have one of those zen garden things after he got all mopey from seeing Atlas. Needless to say, after seeing a 7ft tall behemoth with a large flail they caved and now he has his 'jewel of life' in the middle of that grey city."

Finishing his explanation with air quotes of the name Gideon had given to his garden, Talon's eye shot open before snapping his fingers and remarking he had forgotten something before producing his scroll and remarking that Gideon had wanted to send his adopted mother some pictures of the base, his friends and most importantly his precious garden.

As the two scrolled through multiple selfie-style pictures of various places and things at the base such as a small garden; a training yard and multiple of Gideon smiling with a peace sign with his arm around various individuals with varying levels of discomfort on their face at the sudden close quarters with said behemoth. While this occurs Professor Ozpin merely offered an overjoyed smile at the sudden change in the demeanour of his normally stern second in command.

Above the treeline of the Emerald forest, a single lone Raven sized Nevermore was slowly circling as if on the hunt for food however as the avian Grimm was circling it was quickly obliterated as a Redstreak of rose petals zoomed past the remaining feathers.

"Birdy noo!" Ruby exclaimed as she fired crescent rose in its rifle form downward to slow her descent before unfolding the weapon into its scythe form and hooking the head of the blade around a tree branch, spinning around to stop the rest of her momentum before finally unhooking the scythe and rolling as she landed on the forest floor.

Nearby Weiss used her semblance of Glyphs to form multiple floating white platforms out of thin air to slow her descent and act as stairs as she gracefully stepped down onto the forest floor while other students also improvised their own landing plans around her.

For Ren, he simply utilised the blades attached to the barrel underside of his pistols Stormflower to cling to a sturdy tree before spiralling along the trunks surface before touching down at the base. As opposed to the graceful nature of his descent above Ren heard the blast of shotgun shells as Yang chose a more stylistic approach using her gauntlets to boost and glide along the treeline before jumping between trees as her final descent. Upon touching down Yang rolled forward before standing into a run not losing any of her gathered momentum announcing a satisfied 'Nailed it' as the blonde dashed forward.

As each of the remaining students made their own landings bar one Pyrrha perched atop a tall tree branch first using her weapon Miló in its rifle format to scan the nearby area before seeing said student being Jaune Arc still flailing as he collects speed towards the ground. To this Pyrrha twirled her rifle as it converted into its spear form and she took aim using her thumb as a guide and launched her spear at the helpless blonde catching him by the hood and pinning it to a nearby tree to prevent him crashing into the ground. Moments later a thud is heard before a distant thank you, to this Pyrrha merely calls out an apology.

Back with Ruby as she continues racing through the forest determined to find her sister, she thinks of the possible situations she may be in. What if she can't find her sister? What if someone already found her sister? To this Ruby quickly thinks of the people she would want to be paired with if she cannot find her sister. There's Jaune he seems nice but then again, he doesn't seem like he would be a good fighter though. Oh, what about Blake she seems really mysterious and calm and she likes books, but maybe she wouldn't be able to hold a conversation with her. There is always Talon he seemed cool and would be a good fighter and he makes cookies but then is he even in the Forest he wasn't stood with everyone else when they got launched. At this Ruby tries to think who else in the school does she know "Yang, Blake, Jaune, Talon and…."

But as the young huntress is lost in thought she bumps into something or someone.
