Chaptee 11: Hospital
Nessie's POV
"I think that you should get some rest now Nessie. Your body is really going to need it," mom said.
I wanted to ask what my mom had meant by our family having enough power, influence, and money to put those people who purchased me in jail. But then I decided against it.
"Nessie please rest," mom said again.
I was going to argue back but a yawn betrayed me. "Where is everyone else mom?"
"At home. Well Carlisle might be on his way already. His shift is starting soon. The others stayed home. We didn't want to crowd you if you woke up,"
"I wish that I could go back in time and change things. I should have never left you at that mall. If I wouldn't have wandered off then none of this would have happened,"
"No if I had kept a better eye on you then this wouldn't have happened. I should have been watching you more closely. I also should have taught you that it was okay to use your strength and speed to escape from dangerous humans. I should have taught you about stranger danger. If anything this is all my fault. I failed you as your mother and that is something that I will have to live with for the rest of eternity,"
"Mom I don't blame you for what happened. You're just as much of victim as I am in this,"
"But it is much fault. I should have done a better job protecting you. You'll understand when you have kids. Which according to Alice will happen in a few months,"
"Hold on a second what did you just say?"
She smiled at me. "You're pregnant with Jacob's baby. A baby girl actually. Don't worry your baby will be perfectly fine,"
"I'm pregnant?" I gasped. "But how? Actually don't answer that. I know how," I blabbered on. "I'm just surprised is all. Does Jacob know?"
"Not yet. We thought it would be better if you told him. I know he'll be extremely happy though. He's wanted to become a father for so long now,"
"Then why hasn't he? Surely there have been other girls right?" A guy that looked like Jacob must have had girls throwing themselves at him.
"Nessie you're the first girl that he's been interested in for many years but that's something you two should talk about together,"
I yawned again. Mom shook her head. "You should try to get some sleep Nessie. Your body needs it,"
She was probably right. I closed my eyes and slowly the tiredness began to overtake my body. I wasn't sure how long I was asleep for but when I woke my mom was gone. I didn't think that much time had passed. It was only a little bit brighter outside. I back ached a little from laying down so much.
I decided to test my limits a little and see if I could stand. My entire body hurt. I ached in places that I didn't even know were places. I guess a car speeding down the street and slamming into a person was bound to have some serious consequences. I did not want to lay back down though.
I took a step and then another one. I could walk. It was painful but I could still walk. I walked out of my room into the hallway. I thought I'd go walk for a little while and then return to my room. I'd walk as much as my body would allow. I'd taken the elevator down to the second floor when I smelled something strange. Something different. It smelled good.
"Do you smell that?" I asked the man next to me. I was sure that he had. The smell was so strong that everyone must have smelled it.
"Smell what?"
"I don't know but whatever it is it smells so sweet,"
"No offense kid but I think the doctors may have drugged you up a little too much,"
I rolled my eyes sure that I was not imagining things. I decided to track the smell. I had to find out what it was. When I got off the elevator I started sniffing around like a bloodhound until I figured out which direction the scent was coming from. People looked at me funny but I didn't care.
The smell led me to what I initially thought was a storage room. The smell was so strong that my throat started burning. It felt like my throat was on fire. I pushed the door open and was surprised that it wasn't locked at all. I gasped when I saw all of the bags of donated blood.
The fire in my throat was unbearable now. The smell coming off the blood promised to put out the fire. I grabbed the first bag my hands touched and didn't hesitate to rip it open. The blood tasted so sweet as it coated my tongue. Human blood was the most delicious thing that I had ever tasted in my entire life. Not only did it put out the fire in my throat but there were other noticeable effects as well. I felt stronger. Healthier. The pain throughout my body had lessened.
I grabbed another bag and ripped it open and quickly drained the bag of its contents. Nothing could stop me now. My rational mind was gone. All I knew is that human blood tasted extremely good and that it helped me feel stronger and healthier. I needed more. I tore open another bag and then another bag and then another bag. Soon I had consumed so many bags of blood that I lost track. My mind was focusing solely on satisfying my needs by consuming all of this human blood.
Soon I was down to the very last bag. That's when the door suddenly opened. Someone gasped. My rational mind returned to me in that moment. My heart was pounding. I quickly drained the contents of the last blood bag. When I turned around and looked my grandfather was standing in the doorway.
