Chapter 13

Tuesday was the same as Monday as far as Rory was concerned. She went to her meet and greet and came back and wrote their article. Finn spent the day on his computer answering what seemed like endless emails.

When Rory's article was finished they went to a diner that was suggested by the front desk. The food was mediocre at best. They had a quiet night in their room. When Wednesday morning came Finn got packed with all their stuff he was taking back and they kissed goodbye. Finn reminded Rory that he would pick her up in one day and to call him when they got close.

Finn's plane ride was boring to him. He finished his book. When he landed her got into the Escalade and drove to the Apple store. He bought Rory the latest iPad and a new cover for it. The salesman at the store Steve explained how to transfer all of Rory's books as well as what apps he would install on it for her. Finn was happy with his purchase. He went back to their apartment and started the wash. While the washing machine was doing its thing he went to work. He was able to answer many emails and was happy he was getting so much done. When it was dinner time he went to the restaurant around the corner and got sushi. It was delicious and he hadn't realized how hungry he was. He went back home and took a nice hot shower and crawled into bed. He started to think, this would be the last night he ever spent in this bed single. That made him smile. He called Rory and he could hear the girls laughing in the background. They stayed on the phone for only a couple of minutes and Finn was happy she would have one last night of happy memories from the trail.

Thursday morning Finn got up and went to the gym. He had missed going while they were in West Virginia. After the gym he went to the office. He thought he might try to go in tomorrow while Rory was at his interview. He signed everything that had to be signed and got a lot of work done. Before he knew it Rory had called him to say that they were a half hour out. He went and got her and got to meet the girls. It was a bittersweet moment for Rory. They all laughed and cried and promised to keep in touch. They then went and got their marriage license and stopped and got sandwiches. Rory was so happy to be back in a place that made good food. Finn laughed at that comment. They brought the sandwiches to their apartment. Rory quickly unpacked her dirty clothes in the living room and Finn started a load of wash. They ate their sandwiches as Rory was starving. When done with lunch Finn showed Rory around the apartment. Rory was in awe. It was a beautiful 2 story penthouse apartment with a stone fireplace that went between the two floors. It has its own office as well as a library that Rory said she could get lost in. Their bedroom was light and airy with beautiful views of Central Park. It also had an equally as nice spare bedroom that Rory could see her mother or Lane coming to stay with them. Finn walked to the closet and showed her he had hung up all her clothes he had washed as well as the new clothes he had purchased for her. Inside the closet was also a row of drawers that he put all her bras and underwear in. He showed her the sexy lingerie that he had bought her at La Perla and she fell in love with all of it. He then showed her the blue formal dress he bought. It was even prettier in person than it was in a picture Finn had sent her.

Rory: I didn't know what to expect when I agreed to move into your apartment. This apartment is like nothing I ever imagined. It is huge and beautiful. I would be honored to come live here.

Finn: I am so happy you said that. Welcome home sweetheart. I am happy to move to a house when we have a family or need more room. They easily unpacked the rest of Rory's stuff before repacking her suitcases and Finn packing his too. Once their suitcases were packed Finn carried them downstairs while Rory explored the apartment a little more. Finn went into the office to get the cards he purchased from Jean and put it all together. He went to the safe and got out the items in question. He put everything into his carryon bag.

Rory walked into the dining room and gasped.: Oh these baskets came out better than I expected. They look even better in person. I love them. When do you think we should give them out?

Finn: I am glad you like them. Barbara, my assistant and I had such a fun time putting them together. She had no idea what they were to be used for but she told me she wouldn't mind receiving something like this herself. I made a note of it and thought we could do something like this for her for Christmas. She is a huge Harry Potter fan. I was going to try to order her tickets tomorrow while you were at your interview. Even if they are for sometime next year I think she wouldn't mind. I got the Wicked tickets for April 2nd. I figured by then you would be settled and it wouldn't be the holidays. I figured Lane and Zach could stay in our spare room if they wanted.

Rory: Barbara would probably love that. I would get her the movies and maybe the books too. That would be a play I wouldn't mind seeing either. I am a big Harry Potter fan. I loved the books and movies. I think April sounds great for Wicked and I love that you thought ahead for Lane and Zach. If you were to get us tickets do you think we could afford to get a set for Lane and Zach and a set for mom and Luke for Christmas. Lane is a huge Harry Potter nut and mom is too. I hear the special effects are supposed to be amazing.

Finn: They aren't that expensive but we might have to wait a while to get decent seats. I can order 6 tickets. I have one more present for you before we go to the hotel. I saw yours was a little beat up and old and I thought you might like a new one for our honeymoon. I am going to bring my computer to the hotel and you can use it to download anything you might need. Please enjoy and no it's not too much money.

Rory opened the present and gasped.: How did you know I was thinking of buying a new one when we got back from our honeymoon. Mine really has seen some better days. Sometimes it just doesn't even like to turn on. I was going to use my last paycheck to buy it. I didn't know enough about the newer models. I figured I could research it. Now I don't have to. Thank you!

Finn: I am glad you like it. The man at the store gave me a list of apps you might like to add to it. Are you ready to head to the hotel? Let's get all these baskets into the car. I am going to go get a trolley. We probably need more than one trip. I will be right back.

Finn and Rory loaded the car and headed to the hotel. Once there they had everything brought up to the honeymoon suite. Once they unloaded everything and Rory took her dress out of the bag and put it in the front closet. It didn't look very wrinkled but she thought this might be best. Finn promised not to look in that closet. Once everything was unpacked they went to John's office. Finn wanted to tell John that they were there and introduce Rory to John. The three of them went to the conservatory and John told them where he would put the chairs as well as the sand table. John also showed them where he suggested putting the 3 reception tables as well as where the DJ would be. They both loved the placements and how the chair setup would be. He suggested that the name cards be put on the chairs Friday night and then he would be locking the doors to the conservatory till the DJ came at 2 to set up. The DJ had signed a disclosure agreement that he would not talk about who would be there. Both Rory and Finn loved this idea. They also talked about gift baskets and it was decided that they should be given out as part of their thank you speech. John was going to have a small table put by the door for the 5 baskets. Rory fell in love with the conservatory and knew that it would be a place that she would remember forever. The room smelled and looked spectacular. The pictures Finn took did not do the room justice. Her fears about the venue were no longer valid.

When they were done with John they went to eat dinner in the restaurant. They enjoyed an amazing dinner and both knew the food for the wedding would be spectacular.

They went back to their room and took a long romantic shower. They couldn't keep their hands off each other. When they got out of the shower Finn setup his computer and Rory plugged in her new iPad. As it was charging Rory set it up and started adding some apps to it. She was able to download the new kindle app and transfer all her downloaded books onto the new device. She loved the case Finn picked for her and was over the moon excited about this new purchase. Rory was exhausted as she and the girls had stayed up most of the night before. Rory and Finn had slow, deep romantic sex and feel asleep in each others arms.

In Hartford on Tuesday Richard was up and waiting for Emily to get to the office. Emily complained bitterly that he was treating her like a child. Richard responded that you are acting like one so that's how I am treating you. Emily pouted all day.

When they returned home Emily was convinced that Richard would give her her phone back. Richard refused. They ate dinner in silence and Richard went to bed but not before telling Emily she better be ready again at 8 am sharp. Richard demanded that Emily go to work with him everyday that week. He monitored everything she did including her bathroom breaks. He wasn't taking any chances that she could cost him his job or worse.
