Best Laid Plans-Ch 13
After Shannon was finished removing the ventilator tubing from Penelopes throat she said, "now Penelope your throat is going to be scratchy and sore for a while so try not to talk, okay"?, Penelope nodded her head yes in agreement. Derek looked at Shannon and said, "can you ask the others to wait a few minutes before they come in I need to talk to Penelope about something"?, Shannon said, "sure" and gathered her things and headed out into the hall, making sure to close the door behind her.
Penelope watched as Derek sat down beside her on the bed, he then took her hand in his and looked lovingly into her eyes, he said, "first I want to say how sorry I am that you got hurt, that we got hurt". She stated to open her mouth and he said, "no talking sweetness, remember"?, she bit down on her bottom lip and nodded her head yes.
He continued by saying, "I love you baby girl and I know what you think and no it's not a friendship kind of love or a brother and sister kind of love, it's a head over heels in love kind of love". Her mouth flew open and he said, "just listen to me", he blew out a deep breath and said, "baby girl, I've been in love with you for so long and now I'm finally telling you how I feel".
Penelope felt tears welling up in her eyes as he said, "you are the best thing that's ever happened to me, you are my baby girl, my goddess, my angel, my everything and I love you with all of my heart". Derek reached up and wiped away the tears that were now streaming down her cheeks and said, "and I want you to be my girl, I want to spend the rest of my life with you, loving you and being loved by you".
Penelope felt her heart racing as he said, "it took me almost losing you to finally pull my head out of my butt and finally tell you how much you truly mean to me goddess", she gently squeezed his hand and smiled lovingly at him. Derek said, "you have owned my heart since the day we met and thanks to pretty boy I called you Gomez instead of Garcia".
Derek looked deeply into her eyes and said, "I love you Penelope Grace Garcia, I always have and I always, always will", he then cupped her face in his hand and slowly leaned in and pressed his lips gently against hers. The kiss was perfect, it was soft, loving, passionate and soooo worth waiting for, especially since it was Derek Michael Morgan that was doing the kissing.
As they pulled apart Derek said, "I know that you're not suppose to talk but I've got to know something", she looked at him and he said, "will you be my girl"?, she took a deep breath and readied to answer his question. She looked him in the eyes and hoarsely said, "I love you to hotstuff, you are without a doubt the love of my life, you always have been and you always will be".
He smiled as she said, "and to answer your question, yes, yes I will be your girl, do you have any idea how long I've dreamed this day would happen"?, he rested his forehead against hers and said, "probably as long as I have gorgeous". Penelope said, "I love you Derek Michael Morgan, now and forever you are it for me" as she leaned in and pressed her lips against his.
They pulled apart to the sound of hands clapping and their family saying in unison, "IT'S ABOUT TIME", Penelope blushed and said, "come give me more sugar, sugar", he wiggled his eyebrows and said, "anything for you baby girl" as he did just that.
