Author's Note:
sillykitty201: Hey! How y'all doing? Well, I'm doing great, because against all (my) expectations, MY TEACHER LOVED MY PRESENTATION VIDEO!
Yes, I'm a suck up. Yes, I'm a teacher's pet.
DEAL WITH IT.
Not like any of you know who I am, anyway!
ANYWAY. So I'm super happy coz it was a test grade and I kinda thought I was gonna fail but I did super well so yayyyy!
Also, I just want to say, our characters are super OOC and different, but we love making them that way! For example, Lucius Malfoy has to have feelings, doesn't he? This fic is ours, and ours alone so we can make the characters do anything, feel anything, and make them have any past we want them to have! It's super OOC but it's super fun, and if you don't like it… I have one word for you!
LEAVE.
Alright, to basketballbr!
basketballbr0909: Yooooooooooooo! What's up? Yeah... don't judge me. I'm pretty hyped up for some reason. I don't really know why.. Like sillykitty201 said, this is pretty OOC. I mean, maybe Lucius might have feelings. Just because he seems cold and hard on the outside doesn't mean he can't have a backstory. Anyways, do enjoy our latest chapter. Now, back to sillykitty201!
Now from the top! Make it drop! Our first POV is Sirius Black! Now grab a bucket and a mop, our second POV is James Potter! I'm talking only two, only two, only two POV's! Macaroni in a pot, GO ENJOY! (Sorry it's stuck in my head... THIS NEVER HAPPENED.)
Sirius Black
James Potter
Remember the whole "Tomorrow's going to be one heck of a day" and "Because James Potter deserves the whole fucking world" thing I said last chapter?
Yeah, well, you can probably guess what we're doing today.
After James finally got in the shower, I plopped on Remus's bed. I knew Peter was listening in, so I began talking.
"Hey, guys, you know how James is always doing stuff for us?"
Remus looks up from his book, his eyes boring into mine, as though he's trying to figure out what I'm trying to say next.
I don't allow him.
I immediately turn away, looking at Peter this time, and say "So.. how about we surprise him?"
"With…" Peter says, wanting me to finish the sentence.
"Umm.. something? I haven't really figured that part out yet. I figured you guys might have some ideas."
"Hmm.. I'm thinking.." A smile creeps up onto Remus's face.
"What?" I ask.
"Lily Evans," he says, and those two words immediately give me dozens of ideas.
"But, wait, don't you think we should do something between us? I mean, let's just leave her out of this. James is still trying to figure out feelings for her, so let's just give him time," Peter disagrees.
He does make a good point. Remus nods too, and we sit there, stumped.
"We can do his homework," Remus offers.
"No," I say, "We need something big."
"Big for what?" James asks, promptly disrupting my thoughts while he opens the bathroom door.
"James!" Peter blurts, before adding, "I mean, uh, hi."
He stares at each of us, trying to use his mind control powers on us again. I will myself to act steady, even though it's not exactly easy with James eyeing us carefully.
I wonder if he ever learned Occlumency..
Remus and Peter are trying just as hard as me to not to reveal anything, but Peter just sighs, and begins to admit, "Look, James, we were just saying how we think you-"
"-seriously need to stop using those mind - control powers on us all the time! Sheesh!" I interrupt (and finish) coolly.
Peter's reddened face turns back into its normal color, Remus's hardened expression softens, and my shoulders relax.
"Sorry," James apologizes genuinely, shrugging his shoulders a little bit. "It's just a natural habit, I guess."
He quickly averts his eyes and goes to rummage in his trunk.
"James…" I start, before trailing off.
"When did you ever start wearing underwear with hearts on it?!" I say instead, before erupting into laughter.
"Hey - how - what -?" James looks at me, both embarrassed and curious. I only laugh harder in response, and Remus and Peter join in.
I wink at Remus and Peter, and they give a slight nod in response. I can tell they are also trying to figure out the best thing to do for James, same as me.
Luckily, James doesn't seem to notice a thing, so at least there's a little bit of good news.
What to do… what to do…
My mind wanders during Transfiguration, trying desperately to think of an idea.
Party?
No, organizing it will take forever. And we're reserving that for his birthday.
Surprise prank (that doesn't require James's help) on Snape?
No, we've done that a billion times already. And James will want to help.
Buy him a cool thing?
No, James is already rich. We need something more genuine.
Aha!
We can-
"SIRIUS!" McGonagall yells. The whole class is stock - still, and you could hear a pin drop.
"Y - yes, Professor?" I ask shakily. My "chill" demeanor won't help me this time.
"MY OFFICE. NOW." she snaps, not waiting for a response. She leaves the class then and there, and marches to her office, muttering something like "class dismissed" over her shoulder.
"WHAT IS THE MEANING OF THIS?!" McGonagall asks. I'm not fully sure exactly what I have done yet, but I try to bide my time.
"Sorry, Professor. I was just thinking about James.."
"Oh? What about him could possibly be worth getting yourself into detention for two weeks?" she says in a mix of curiosity and sarcasm.
Her tone makes it clear that no arguing could get me out of detention. But, heck, I don't care! And I would go through a million detentions for my best friend if it was that important!
I am about to say this, but her pursed lips, stone - hard face, and piercing brown eyes convinces me to answer her question instead.
"Well, to be honest, I think James deserves a break. He's always taking care of us, and I think he should get something nice for a change. But I can't think of anything to do for him. Well, that was until.." I trail off, not wanting to say she interrupted my thoughts with her screaming.
That's when her expression completely changes. Her pursed lips relax, her face softens, and her piercing brown eyes become chocolate - brown ones.
"Hmm.." she says, as if the fight before never even happened, and we were just speaking to one another like good friends. She doesn't even tell me what I did!
She makes up for that when she gives me the greatest idea ever.
It's a Saturday, which is perfect. I had explained the plan to Remus and Peter on Friday, and together we set it all up. Now...
Now is when the magic begins.
We all walk back into the dormitory, as usual, after breakfast, ready to start a new day. James plops down on my bed.
"So, what do you want to do today?"
"Well.. first up, we'll do your homework, and you can practice some quidditch. We'll join you after," I say happily.
I know I have to do this. James is so busy with homework and helping us, he only has time to practice quidditch at 11 in the night! He so deserves this.
"I - what?"
"You heard me. Go practice," I tell him, slapping his back. He leaves, and his surprise is quite visible. I throw his broom after him, and holler "YOU FORGOT SOMETHING!"
He grins, picks it up, and leaves the dormitory.
Remus, Peter, and I immediately go to work. We rush and finish all his due
homework, including a few long - term projects. Of course, we used a spell to write in James's handwriting, and made a few mistakes, in case the teachers got suspicious.
Soon enough, we joined an ecstatic James for quidditch. We played for quite some time, until Remus and Peter finally got annoyed and told us to stop. James and I shared a grin, and then we decided to prank someone.
James got to pick the person, and he decided to pick Malfoy. The prank mostly involved us spooking Malfoy with the Invisibility Cloak, and then we used Veritaserum on him. (You know, for fun.)
After getting a heck of a laugh out of that prank, we decided to help James impress Lily. Lily was very annoyed with us, but we mostly just laughed off all of her insults and continued poking fun at her.
Then, it was lunch, which we mostly talked through, but after lunch, we somehow got involved with Snape in a Wizard Duel.
James, of course, won. We celebrated by sneaking into Hogsmeade and snagging a few butterbeers from Hog's Head. (And yes, we left money. We're not hooligans!)
"GUYS!" James exclaims, laughing. "This was, like, the best day ever!"
We are drinking butterbeers, and the day is not nearly close to done.
I sigh and shake my head.
"It was nothing," I say, "Plus, there's more to come."
"There's MORE?! You guys are amazing!" he beams, smiling widely and hugging us.
"Yes, yes we are," I reply, nodding my head in affirmation.. "And so are you. You definitely deserve this. Now, come on! We need to finish this schedule so we can get you hyped up for that party later!"
"Wait, what? Did you say party?" he asks, bewildered, as we sweep him away for the next activity.
"Maybe," I answer, grinning slyly.
My friends are surprising…
See, the morning after the day I punched Snape… they were hiding something.
I swear, they were.
I had just come out of the bathroom, and they all abruptly stopped talking about something. The last thing I had heard them say was "something big". When I asked what they were talking about, they jumped and began fumbling over their words.
Peter almost told me, and then Sirius picked up where he was starting and told me that my 'mind control' powers were annoying.
That's what the Marauders have taken to calling my stare. Apparently, when I look into their eyes, it feels like I can read their minds.
Weird, but not true. Cool, but not true.
Okay, maybe half true.
Whatever.
You know what? Maybe I'm worrying over nothing. It was nothing. They weren't hiding anything.
One day later…
You know what happened next?!
Next thing I know, it's Saturday and I'm out flying with my friends, eating all my favorite foods, playing pranks, having a party, and basically having literally the best day ever!
It makes no sense!
Of course, they planned that day. I mean, none of that can happen just accidentally! Everything was planned, I know that.
But, why?
That's my question.
Why were they planning this in the first place?
Wait a sec.. That means they were hiding something on Thursday! But still… what I don't understand is why.
And it can't be a coincidence that this happened right after I punched Snape, right?
Gah!
Laughing, I reached for the spoon in my soup.
Sirius made another joke and I dropped the spoon, throwing my head back and laughing. Remus looked back at his book, trying to hide a smile, and Peter just rolled his eyes with a snicker.
"Okay, shut up, Sirius. Let me drink this, please!"
"Aww.. poor Jamesie-poo!"
"I swear, Sirius, if you make me laugh while I drink this, I'll spit it out on you."
Sirius snaps his mouth closed.
"Ha! That shut you up quick, didn't it, Padfoot?" Remus snorts, and Peter laughs.
I beam and reach for the spoon again, but then something surprising happens.
In a flash of green and red, Evans snatches the spoon before I reach it, and drinks it.
I gape at her as she blushes and her friends giggle. My friends cackle with laughter, and I turn to glare at them.
Then…
"LILY!"
I whip around to see Lily fainting into Alice's arms.
"Lily!"
"Evans!"
There are shocked gasps from all around the Gryffindor table. Us Marauders quickly get up and help Alice and Mallory carry her to Madam Pomfrey's. But Alice stops us halfway there.
"Let's just go back to Gryffindor tower."
No one questions her, so we just back go up to Gryffindor tower and Alice and Mallory carry Lily up the stairs.
"What do you think happened?" I ask Mallory when she comes down the stairs.
"I don't know…" Mallory frets, and slumps down into an armchair by the fire.
Yeah. Lily fainted.
I know, right! So weird. I don't even understand how.
The only logical conclusion that I've come to is that someone poisoned my soup, and because Lily drank it, the 'poison' worked on her instead.
Ugh! It's all my fault!
Lily has been acting really weird lately. She's been hanging out with Lucius Malfoy a lot, and when she does talk to other people, she acts really weird.
"Hey, Lils! You okay? What did that potion do to you, anyway?"
"Potter," she hisses nastily, narrowing her eyes at me.
Okay… so maybe that's normal.
"Hi, Lily!"
"Oh, great Salazar Slytherin, why can't you just leave me alone! I swear, I ought to hex you to the ends of the earth, you filthy bloody traitor!"
That, is not.
"What? Evans, did you just call me a blood traitor?!"
Lily gasps, her eyes widening.
"Ack! No, I mean, I didn't mean that! You know… JUST LEAVE ME ALONE!"
Yeah…
So I know Lily hates me, but you can't tell me that that wasn't weird!
I don't know what's happening. I don't know why my friends keep sending me these odd, appreciative glances, and I don't know why Lily is acting so weird.
I don't think I'm going to find out any time soon, so for now, I'm just going to keep my mouth shut and go with it.
It's not that bad, is it?
