('Oblethe Thinking')
Deep in the woods, hooded figures were scattered about. Hiding behind the trunks of trees and hidden within bushels of leaves. Ciel stood on the forest trail looking at everyone going through their patrol of their territory. He had a frustrated look on his face. His hand dragging across his scruffy face as he paced around in a small circle.
"Damnit!" he cursed to himself as he chucked a small rock at a tree. The birds that were hiding flew out of the tree. He had a puzzled look for he did not know what species of birds they were. He watched as they flew into the night.
"The fuck...?" he whispered to himself. The small group were close together as the caws echoed as the others.
"You seem confused, Ciel?" a voice emanated from the darkness. The group that was scattered became whole as they stayed in a group as a lone figure walked forward. Ciel's face grew grotesque as he snarled at the woman before her.
"Reine..." even his voice was full of venom.
"The Masters would like to know why are have still yet to get the boy."
"Well...if someone didn't take the girl that I needed to bring him back...we wouldn't be out here..." his voice still with disdain for the girl.
"I don't know what you told your fellow delinquents here, but the Masters specifically said alive and without raising suspicion. Your actions, may I remind you, caused Cassius to feel unwelcome with The Masters to begin with, but your deceit and misdeeds have caused him to run away and not to mention now the attention of Gremory and her peerage is onto you. They know about the Dragon now!"
Ciel stood as he was being verbally ripped apart. It was not anything horrific but slow and meticulous. He clenched his fist as his eyes went through Reine. The gaze had no effect on Reine but rather left her with a coy smirk hiding underneath her veil.
"Save your temper tantrum for another time! The Masters sent me to fetch you. They demand an audience. Best not to leave them more frustrated. "
"You're joking. You're enjoying this aren't you, witch." The venom continued to spew through Ciel's teeth. Reine giggled for she could not contain herself reveling in Ciel's misfortune. She never forgave him for Cassius' misfortune. To her, he was a dear friend to her and at the time she could not do anything to help him and she regretted it tremendously.
"I'd be lying if I said I wasn't, Ciel. I considered it a blessing that you're not put to death before the Masters, especially after being the cause of Cassius' desperate departure. Your job was to take care of him. Physical abuse and poisoned words under the guise of 'the real world is just as harsh,' were not what The Masters intended. Clearly you're not fit to care for him."
"Oh, and I suppose you would have done better? You know as much as I do, that the world outside of our home, every manner of being will be coming for him! I want him to be tough! To fight back against those who will fight him! You think he has time for emotions? To feel? No. The records show that the most powerful wielders of Oblethe were ones with no emotion. We need someone like the wielders of old."
"You do realize they didn't have someone as horrendous as you for life lessons! The dragon was there to guide them! Quit pretending you are something you have no right being and ruining other people's fate! It's because of YOU that Cassius probably doesn't want to return home ever now!"
She went and slapped him as he took the slap. His cheek was red and stinging from the sharp pain.
"You better get to The Masters quickly." She huffed before disappearing into the night. Ciel looked on as he rubbed his face as he began walking the other way. Back to his home.
"Keep looking for signs. Report to me at once if you see him." He said softly to the nearest hooded figure.
"Yes, sir." She replied quickly as she continued her watch. Ciel's eyes trailed downwards as he gritted his teeth and clenched his fists.
"Stupid damn kid. Should've done what he was told."
Cassius was lying still in his bed sound asleep. It was the dead of night. Rias and Akeno looked onward at the door to his room closed. A look of worry and anxiety on both of their faces.
"Do you think we're doing the right thing?" Rias asked somberly. Her hands tightening around her arms. The reality of Cassius' fate and the world he is in was become apparent for Rias. In her world, devils, angels and fallen angels normally would not impede on other territories occupied by others. Aside from Raynare and her squad, there would not be anyone to attack the peerage.
This case was different however, this was an unknown group of unknown origin. Rias did not know anything about this cult. Hell, there's times if she thinks that there using Cassius to try and infiltrate from the inside. She did not know if they were just humans, devils or even angels and fallen angels. Not to mention of this "third Heavenly Dragon." Was this dragon truly on par with the Red and White Dragons? Is it a façade? Who leads the cult?
More importantly, how long has this cult and dragon been around?
"There's so many questions about Cassius but every single time I feel like we get answers about him, more questions take its place."
"I agree." Akeno nodded. Normally she would be giggling and cheerful, and in some cases teasing with Cassius and Issei, but this was not one of those cases. "There's not much to go around and plus we don't even know if this third dragon is true. If there are not any official records of any sort, we can't even legitimize Cassius' claims of his Sacred Gear."
"Speaking of which, I do not even know what Cassius' Sacred Gear is."
"Honestly, Rias, I don't think Cassius does either."
"So, he could have just discovered about it recently like Issei did his."
"Guess our new boys are going to bigger, better things." She giggled lightly.
"True, if any case since training for everyone is tomorrow, I think I'll put the two together to see how both compare each other." Rias relaxed a bit. "They definitely need to get stronger."
"For now, let us leave him to rest. I think his past is the least of his problems."
"You just want him to yourself when I'm not around don't you, Akeno."
"Guilty as charged." She smiled coyly winking at Rias as she pouted.
"He is my servant you know. Like I'll allow you to leave you to your vices with him."
"Oh my, Rias why are you getting so worked up." She chuckles more for she enjoyed teasing everyone, even the president herself.
Over the commotion Cassius opens the door as the two look over to see a tired Cassius. His eyes were closed but he was looking in the direction of Rias and Akeno. His hair was messy and around his head as it flowed down past his neck. He yawned softly as he tied up his hair with the tie around his wrist. With eyes still closed he lightly tugged Akeno's sleeve as she blushed slightly. She couldn't handle how adorable he was being.
"…Coffee…" he slurred and mumbled as she giggled.
"Sure, Cassius let's head down and get you something. Though maybe coffee at night probably isn't a good idea."
"Night owl…more awake at night…" he continued mumbling as he held onto Akeno's sleeve which Akeno sneaked her hand to interlock with his. She peeked back to see Rias' face turning red.
"Well your cute sleepy face says otherwise."
"Noooo…." He said quietly his cheeks with a light blush.
As the two headed downstairs, Rias huffed as she followed them.
Ciel looked onward as he strolled down the street. He paced quickly to head for The Masters abode. In the cult, The Masters are the law of the land and they dictate the fate of others. Get on their bad side and a plethora of punishments await you. From confinement, to exile entirely to the harshest punishment, death. Beads of sweat trickled down Ciel's patchy face as he panted to get there as soon as possible.
He arrived at a house as he took a moment to catch his breath. The house looked small as it was in a residential neighborhood it appeared to be. He cursed quietly under his breath as the nerves started setting in. As he opened the door and stepped inside the house it was purely empty and the lights were off. It appeared that no one was home. It did not seem to bother Ciel as he stood firm and spoke to the quietness of the room.
"My Masters, apologies for the wait but I am here as to your summons."
"Step forward, Ciel." A voice of a woman echoed throughout the house as a magic circle appeared in front of him. Hesitant at first but he did not want to disobey the voice, so he did as such. The circle grew brighter and brighter as it transported Ciel to another location. He recollected his sense of surroundings as he stood before three figures behind shadows. They all appeared to be women, but a lone light was barely lighting the room. Their features and faces could not be seen clearly.
"At least this time you didn't take long. Let me guess, preparing another failed scheme to acquiring Cassius?"
"I can assure you that if someone didn't take the key piece, we wouldn't be talking right now."
"Oh? Already placing blame on me?" a familiar voice echoed. It was Reine who emerged from the shadows. "I thought you were better than that."
"Reine here told me you were going to use Lucille as bait correct? Tell me why that Lucille was founded with scrapes and bruises?"
"She…she is formidable in strength… I grew desperate to incapacitate her till I would begin."
"And that meant to fight and hurt one of my precious children?! You intolerable cretin!" another voice of a woman erupted. The figure to Ciel's right rose out of her chair and slammed her palms into the table.
"Please be at ease, sister." The one in the middle remained still. Her voice gentle and smooth. A hand placed on the furious one. "Reine brought Lucille to her room and I sent Tsukumi to heal her wounds. She is currently resting as we speak."
"Yes, of course." she grunted still irritable as her cold icy blue eyes tore through Ciel. "Something fortunate for you."
Ciel stood silent as the three sisters looked at Ciel. The room began to brighten revealing the three. On his left, one with dark hair and golden eye's like Cassius'. In the middle, she donned light pink hair, almost as the same color as Lucille's. The third her hair was short, stopping at her shoulders. Her hair was gold and has icy blue byes. She was dressed more militant aside from the other two and their elegant wardrobes.
"Ciel we grow tired of your nonsense. We asked for you to get the boy back and bring him to us. I don't see what's so hard about that."
"If it weren't the fact there were fallen angels and devils after him, I would've acquired him easily, My Masters."
The three in unison grew puzzled looks.
"There were others you say."
"Yes. Granted it has been a long time for you three, I suppose times have changed. There was a fallen angel chasing after him but also a group of devils. I believe their leader goes by the name Gremory."
"Ah, yes. Must be his sister." The third one nodded. "I heard rumblings from my children."
"Yes, Rias Gremory correct?"
"Yes, the sister of Sirzechs." The second one nodded quickly.
"It's not some run of the mill devil either. Gonna be difficult if we do it ourselves. If we try anything we will be put on watch. Our contract will be void and everyone will know of Cassius and what he is. We did not get this far to not screw this up."
"Yes, to lose our beloved child when we are so close and he's in Gremory's clutches. It tears me apart." The first one said somberly. Clutching her chest as small tears welled.
"Ciel. Please leave us. We'll discuss your fate shortly." The third one shooed Ciel away as he nodded in silence and walked away into the circle. Disappearing.
The first recovered steeling herself before turning to "Reine, is Lucille awake? Can you bring her here to us?"
"Why certainly, my Masters. I'll be quick."
"No need to rush child. Just bring her here. You have done more than enough today. Good work." The second one smiled gently in praise of Reine's efforts.
"I must say I never knew that keeping an eye on Ciel would be so exhausting. I cannot believe we let Ciel take care of Ciel…well if you would call it care. It is ironic though, the one who was stubborn about the supernatural and did not believe in gods or us, became the next Hollow Dragon Emperor. It must be so much for Cassius. He still probably does not understand anything about it. I still don't understand what you saw in him." The third one looked at the first one with sad eyes. Her look lacking an expression.
"It was a mistake I'm going to correct. If we must get him ourselves, I don't care if we risk everything we worked for. I'll take the fall myself." The first one said with grit.
"Sister, please. Let us not be reckless!" she waved at her in worry. "Let us focus on Lucille for now. We must undo whatever has affected her memory of us."
"Right, of course. Let's bring her in!" her voice bellowed as Reine walked back inside with Lucille in tow. She was still in the clothes that were laid out when she woke up. Her hands rested in the pocket the sweater carried.
As she stepped closer and closer, she felt the auras of the three women before her. Growing stronger as she closed the gap between them. A lone droplet of sweat trailed down as the nerves started to rattle. Reine took notice of this and held to her hand as Lucille felt at ease.
"It is alright. No harm will come to you, Lucille." Reine said to Lucille reassuring her as her hand started glowing a dark green. Her hands trailed up to Lucille's forehead as she tensed for a moment before her mind drifted off into a daze like state. Lucille stood motionless with no life in her eye. As if she was hypnotized.
"Just relax. Soon you'll be back in our Mother's loving arms."
