Laurent fills me in on what he witnessed from Edward's latest rendezvous with Victoria and I'm feeling sick to my stomach. I guess the plan is taking place sooner than I thought. I give Rosalie a call and merge Jasper in.
"Hey guys, let's make this phone call quick. We don't have a lot of time. Edward is planning the attack sooner than I had anticipated," I tell them quickly.
"How soon are we talking Al," Jasper's southern drawl leaks out of the phone.
"Tomorrow night based on Lauren't spying. I think it's best if Roslie and Emmett meet you at the island. If they meet up with you before going I don't think you guys will make it in time."
"That's fine. Peter, Charlotte, and I will leave in 5," he replies. "We'll get the next flight out."
"Good. Good. I'll head back to the house with Laurent and fill in Carlisle and Esme."
"I'm still feeling uneasy despite having this knowledge," I say to Laurent sadly.
"It's okay ma cherie. At least we know it's happening soon. Do you think we should fill Carlisle and Esme in on what's happening yet?" he questions me.
"I think that'd be best. I feel like he's going to take her away after meeting with Victoria."
We run back to the house and we get there just in time to see Carlisle get a text message from Edward. I quickly run to his side and peek at the message. Taking Bella to Isle Esme to get away from Victoria. We'll come back when it's safer. If anything changes, call me. -E
My worst fears are confirmed, they're planning their attack on Bella sooner than I thought. I take his phone out of his hands before he can shoot a message back to him.
"You wouldn't want to do that Carlisle," I warn.
"Alice, what are you doing? Don't be ridiculous. I'm just going to message an 'okay. We'll keep you updated.' message," he replies annoyed.
"Trust me Carlisle. You're going to want to hear what I have to say."
"Trust her Carlisle. She's seen things and so have I," Laurent adds, putting a hand on Carlisle's shoulder.
"Uh okay. Is everything alright?" he says.
"Carlisle, where's Esme," I question. "Can you call her over here? There's something important I need to tell the both of you."
"Oh no Alice. Please don't say you're leaving us too. It'll be an empty nest here," he replies sadly before calling out for Esme to come have a chat with us.
"Nothing of the sort Carlisle," I reply as Esme surfaces and sits next to Carlisle.
I take a deep breath before I begin to rethink and recount my visions, shock and horror gracing both Carlisle and Esme's expressions. Laurent also steps in. He recounts what he's seen at the warehouse that Victoria was holed up in. He tells them in detail of what gross things he's seen and what despicable plans he's heard coming from Edward's own mouth.
"I don't understand," Esme starts slowly, still at a loss for words. "If Victoria is his mate, why couldn't he tell us? We'd have been fine with it and we all consider Bella family anyway? I'd have no problem bringing her with us when the time came."
"I think the more he thought about it, the more he wanted Bella to himself, not just as companionship, but for her blood. We've always known it called to him more strongly than others. And, based on Laurent's spying, I think Edward feels entitled to her blood. I don't know how long she'll have precisely before he's done using her as a feed farm. It is all determined on his self-control."
Carlisle is sputtering trying to form a sentence. He's so distraught over what he's hearing, it looks like he's going to cry and yell out of frustration. "I just can't believe this," he booms. "How did we allow this side of him to evolve? Are we responsible for this monster?"
I breathe a sigh of relief. I'm so happy that they decided to believe me, if they didn't….I don't know what I would have done if Carlisle had tried to confront Edward on the phone.
"Of course not Carlisle. These are his own actions. Maybe we can meet him there and stop him before he makes a mistake he'll regret," Esme says to soothe him.
"I'm afraid we'll be too late for that Esme. Based on my visions and the timing, we'll be part of the rescue mission. There's no hope in saving him. And before you think about calling him to double check, it'll only make him more stressed and protective of Bella...I fear he'll drain her if he thinks we're closing in on him. I've already dispatched Rosalie, Emmett, Jasper, Peter and Charlotte to the island. They're going to stay in the huts that the local inhabitants use. Hopefully their scent is carried by the sea before Edward gets there."
"Well that's good. I don't think he knows that there are locals living on the island now. Are we the last to know," Carlisle asks, with a hurt expression on his face.
I walk over and give him a hug. "I'm sorry Carlisle but this was the only way to ensure Bella's safety," I reply. "I've booked our tickets, we're leaving now. Please say you'll come with us?"
"Of course dear. I need to see this with my own eyes and we need to be there for Bella," Esme replies, tugging Carlisle towards the door. Carlisle looks like a lost child as Esme leads him out of the house. We make a dash for the airport, we're cutting it close. I didn't expect the explanation to take this long with Carlisle and Esme.
After a grueling flight, we finally touch down. I quickly switch my phone off of airplane mode. Jasper has texted me that he's managed to meet up with Rosalie and Emmett on the island. They're posted at the huts. I shoot a text to him saying that we just landed and we'll be there as soon as possible. We still needed to rent a car to take us to the port.
I'm sensing a vampire on this island, Al. I can only assume that it would be Victoria. -Jasper
'Has Edward arrived,' I ask him.
No, not yet. Still waiting for him to arrive with the package. -Jasper
This was good news, we were right on time, I just hope we don't bump into Edward on the way there. That would be difficult to explain.
"Everyone listen up. Edward hasn't arrived yet, which means we still might bump into him here. Please try to keep your mind as clear as possible."
Jasper gives me updates and everytime my phone buzzes I visibly stiffen from fear. Laurent does his best at being there for me, giving my hand a squeeze whenever I gulp in more air.
We have luck on our side as we board the boat to Isle Esme. I still don't see Edward or Bella anywhere in sight. My phone buzzes as the boat starts.
They're here. Time for the show to start. -J
I tell everyone that Edward and Bella have arrived and for us to be on guard as we started to get closer to the island. We're slowly getting off the boat to ward off any suspicion from the locals that we weren't human. We all wave at the boat as it jets off to pick up more people to take them to their destinations. We make our way to where everyone else is hiding in the huts.
We're trying to form a plan on how we're going to storm the villa but a scream interrupts our chattering. We freeze and give into our senses. The scream comes again, louder. "It's Bella," Jasper whispers before running out. We hadn't even devised a plan yet! Oh I hope this ends well. The rest of us take off after Jasper, sand flying in our faces from his hurried footsteps.
