A/N: READ THE BOTTOM. I don't own Fablehaven. Enjoy.
Emma sat in a separate room from Seth. They didn't want her to leave the room at all. So she sat there contemplating whether or not this was considered failing at her mission. She decided to ask. "Father can you hear me?" She whispered.
Yes, my daughter I can.
"I'm sorry if I failed you. It won't happen again."
I know you won't. Because when you are in Alaska Kendra will enter her body again.
"Alright. What should I do in the meantime."
Be a good little demon. Don't do anything I wouldn't do.
"Alright." She felt her father leave the conversation. Don't do anything he wouldn't do huh. Well she would be as chaotic as possible. But she would do it better than he would. There was a knock at the door. Bracken walked in with her lunch.
"Hope you haen't been doing anything stupid in here." Bracken said. "Like I don't know contacting Tryne." He accused harshly.
"You heard that?" She asked almost nervously.
"No I couldn't hear your conversation. Though I did feel the energy it took to send a communication that far. What did you say?"
"Nothing important. He still thinks I'm on his side." Man it felt good to lie. "But I want him taken down as much as you do. He tortures souls. Mine could be next."
Emma didn't know if he bought her act or not.
"Don't worry about that. We'll protect you."
She sighed. "Thank you. Can I leave the room though. Please."
"Still no." He replied.
"Fine." She spat.
Bracken left. Emma wanted to be the biggest pain she could be. She started talking very loudly. "HEY EVERYONE. CAN YOU ALL HEAR ME." She heard a collective sigh run through the house. "WHEN ARE WE LEAVING?" Emma snickered at this.
Seth walked in which was new. He looked at her with a look of sadness in his eyes. "We will be leaving tomorrow afternoon." He said.
"Okay great thanks." She smiled. "Where exactly in Alaska are we going?" she asked.
"Barrow, Alaska. It's the only preserve there. Shouldn't you know where your own father is?"
"Nope, we only talk in his mind space. I haven't seen him in a while."
"Do you enjoy tormenting others?" Seth asked.
"Why do you want to know?"
"I don't think you realize how much pain you are causing. You sound just like her. We know it isn't her and that makes it worse. I just got her back and now… " Seth was breaking down into tears at this point. His voice was thick with emotion. "I might never see her again."
Emma didn't realize how much it hurt Seth specifically. "Hey, you will see her again. I promise." Emma knew that was true. But how will Kendra act when Tryne is done with her.
"Thank you. For saying that. But how do you know?"
"My Father told me."
"What else did he say?"
"Nothing you need to worry about."
Seth left the room. Emma was yet again alone. She sat with her thoughts. She loved her father but, these people loved Kendra more. She did the one thing she never thought possible. "Hey, Bracken can you come here?"
Bracken walked in. "What?"
"My father is planning something terrible." Emma confessed. "When you meet him, Kendra's soul will re-enter her body."
"Isn't that a good thing?" Bracken asked.
"I'm afraid not. Her soul is corrupted. When she comes back she won't be Kendra anymore. She will be a being of destruction." Emma felt better confessing. But she knew her father would kill her for her betrayal. "You have to protect me. My father will actually kill me for betraying him."
"I meant what I said earlier. We will protect you." Bracken promised.
"Have I earned leaving the room privileges yet?"
Bracken hesitated before sighing. "Sure. But I will be watching you."
"Fair enough." She conceded.
So Emma and Bracken walked into the living room. Bracken explained that they needed to rethink their strategy. They remade the plan. Emma would have power cancelling handcuffs on. So that Kendra couldn't take them by surprise. Other than that the rest of the plan stayed. They would enter the preserve and trap Tryne. Emma promised to help. They all promised not to distrust her anymore than they already did. This plan was perfect. Or at least they all hoped it was perfect.
Tryne sat in his home disgusted with his daughter. "She is such a bad girl." Tryne sighed. His plan could still work. He just needed a little help. He pulled out his first horn. He contacted the only person who hated the fairy realm as much as he did, "My son I need your help."
