Chapter Twenty-Seven: The Chamber of Secrets

Later on, during study hall Hermione tried to read up on The Chamber of Secrets while Harry noticed that Ginny, Neville, and even Draco Malfoy had been staring at him and giving him funny looks. That's when suddenly Harry shut his book and got to his feet. "I'm going to the restroom." He told them before leaving the room and after he left the boy's lavatory, he started hearing the same hissing voice again.

"Let me kill you! Let me rip you!" It cried out as Harry followed the voice through the wall all the way down the hallway. "Kill! Kill! Kill!" It repeated over and over again until he discovered a frozen Nearly Headless Nick and Justin Finch-Fletchley and April Anderson was right behind them. Before Harry could say or do anything Professor McGonagall had come up from behind him and let out a rather loud gasp of shock and astonishment.

Harry turned his head back to look at her. "Professor, I swear! I didn't do it!" He cried out.

"I'm sorry but this is out of my hands Snape. "Your father and Dumbledore want to see you in his office." She told him as Harry silently nodded as that's all he could do and began following her to the stairwell where the stone gargoyle sat and waited right next to it. "Sherbet lemon." She said while making two fists and then quickly uncurling them and Harry widened his eyes in complete and utter amazement as the staircase started elevating him to Dumbledore's office.

He couldn't wait until he was a seventh year and was able to possibly learn to do wandless magic himself. He was also looking forward to the next year though where he would be able to attend Hogsmeade and take elective classes for the first time and become an official teenager. Once the staircase came to a stop at the top Harry walked into Dumbledore's office but he didn't see any sign of Dumbledore or his father, so he decided to journey over to where he saw the sorting hat sitting on top of a shelf.

The sorting hat must have realized that Harry was staring at him because he opened up his mouth and began to speak. "Bee in your bonnet Snape?" He questioned him.

"No, I was just wondering if I got sorted into the right house." Harry said.

"Ah yes, well you were rather difficult to place as that's why I gave you the choice of which house you wanted to be in, but I stand by what I said last year,.. you would have done well in Slytherin." He replied.

"Oh,.. thanks." Harry began before he heaved a sigh and walked over to Dumbledore's desk just as his phoenix Fawkes was bursting into flame. That's when suddenly at the same time Dumbledore and Harry's father came through the door.

"Harry we need to have a little chat." His father began.

"Okay but it isn't me Dad I swear, I didn't write the message on the wall and I haven't been petrifying people." He told him but that's when suddenly Dumbledore held up a hand to silence him.

"It's alright Harry, we do not believe that you have done either of those things." He told him.

"You don't?" Harry questioned with uncertainty.

"Of course not, we're just really concerned about you is all." His father began. "Has your scar been hurting you at all lately?" He asked him as Harry just simply shook his head.

"No, and I really don't think that Voldemort would have found a way to come back after me already." He told him.

"Me neither, but I wasn't a hundred percent sure." His father responded.

"Now then Harry I do believe that you have transfiguration class to attend, but before you leave is there anything else that you wish to tell us?" Dumbledore wondered as Harry shook his head again.

"No sir, nothing." He replied.

"Well then off with you. You're going to have to get a lot of schoolwork and homework done before the Christmas holiday approaches, and unlike how you unfortunately missed out on the Halloween festivities, I'm sure you'll find your upcoming Christmas rather interesting." He told him as Harry scrunched up his face in confusion.

"Dad, what's he talking about?" He wondered.

"Never mind that now son, I'll explain that to you at another time. Now go." Severus told him while giving him a slight nod and watching him hurry out of the office with Dumbledore.

..

"Now today we will be changing animals into water goblets." Professor McGonagall began to her class once they were all seated. "So allow me to demonstrate as Ms. Weasley has temporarily allowed me the use of her kitten." She explained as she withdrew her wand and gently tapped the tiny creature on her desk with it three times. "Vera Verto." She said and everybody was rather impressed as the black feline suddenly transformed into crystal.

"Alright Mr. Weasley how about you next?" She questioned him and Scabbers seemed to notice that something was up as he tried to scamper away but Ron was much too quick for him.

"Vera Verto!" He exclaimed after he tapped his rat three times but unfortunately for his poor rat he didn't transform correctly and he wound up to be a furry squeaking goblet with a rat like tail.

"That wand needs replacing Mr. Weasley." Professor McGonagall told him, and Harry couldn't help but chuckle a little bit but he felt for his friend because the previous year he had thought that it was humorous when Ron got smacked in the nose. That's when unexpectedly Hermione raised her hand. "Yes Ms. Granger?" She inquired.

"Professor, I was wondering if you could tell us about The Chamber of Secrets." She said as a bunch of whispers broke throughout the classroom.

"Oh very well even though it doesn't have anything to do with transfiguration you might as well know." McGonagall began. "You see as you all may already know Hogwarts was established by four founders. Godric Gryffindor, Helga Hufflepuff, Rowena Ravenlcaw, and Salazar Slytherin. Now Salazar Slytherin believed that Hogwarts should be a place for magical learning for witch and wizarding families and the other three main founders disagreed with him on the fact that they should keep out the people who in his mind were unworthy to study magic." She explained.

"Muggleborns." Draco instantly realized as Professor McGonagall nodded at him.

"Yes Mr. Malfoy, legend says that Salazar Slytherin built a chamber where he could unleash chaos and havoc and attack all of the muggleborns in the castle. It is said that he has an heir and the heir alone could be the only other person to open it up once he was gone. However, the school has been searched countless times and no such chamber has been found to exist." She explained.

"Uh Professor, what exactly does legend tell us what lies within the chamber?" Hermione wondered.

"The only thing known about it is that it's said to be the home of a monster. Now! Let us get back with our lessons or extra homework will be assigned." She warned as Harry, Ron, Hermione, and Draco all exchanged worried anxious looks with one another.
