Alto Keenwood, 17: District 2 Male

Icarus is flying too close to the sun

And Icarus's life, it has only just begun

It's just begun

Everyone is gathered in the living room, eagerly awaiting the score reveals. I'm nearly bouncing out of my seat in anticipation. I can't wait to finally stick it to Quintinus and the other Careers and show them that I'm the best one here. I didn't tear through all those dummies for nothing. After tonight, I'll be the new leader of the Career pack.

"Good evening, Panem," the voice of Chikere Idowu rings out from the television. "Welcome to the 72nd Annual Hunger Games Score Reveal. Our tributes have worked hard these past three days, and we'll finally get to see how well they've prepared for the Games."

"Without further ado, let's start," Chikere says. A picture of Cyrus flashes on the screen.

"From District 1, Cyrus Velaz-Ruiz with a score of 10. Final odds; 5-1."

"Also from District 1, Annese Dior with a score of 9. Final odds; 8-1."

"From District 2, Alto Keenwood with a score of 9. Final odds; 7-1."

Time seems to stop as I hear my score. I can feel my anger rising. As my picture fades away, so do my chances of being the Career pack leader. I look over at Quintinus, who just sips his beer, not even paying me any attention. I open my mouth to speak, but he raises his hand, silently telling me to shut up.

"Ancatha Adrienez with a score of 9. Final odds; 7-1."

"From District 3, Elecc Linux with a score of 6. Final odds; 17-1."

"His district partner, Artemisia Carnation-McIllroy with a score of 3. Final odds; 34-1."

That's expected. District 3 tributes rarely ever pull high scores.

"From District 4, Jason Lager with a score of 11. Final odds; 3-1."

"Cece Sandwell with a score of 10. Final odds; 6-1."

Well, that confirms it. Jason is leading us in the arena. It's gonna be nothing short of a shitshow with him trying to take charge.

"From District 5, Tomaz Wellflower with a score of 7. Final odds; 14-1."

"His district partner, Alice Seville, also with a score of 7. Final odds; 13-1."

That little shit from 5 managed to get a 7? Okay, there has to be something going on with the Gamemakers. There's no way in hell someone that young should get anything above a 4 or 5.

"From District 6, Taj Pavonis with a score of 4. Final odds; 27-1."

"Also from District 6, North Freemont with a score of 8. Final odds; 11-1."

I always suspected that the girl from 6 was someone to keep an eye on. She did do some damage at the combat stations, but she still isn't trained, so she'll be an easy kill.

"That concludes the first half of the Score Reveals," Chikere announces. "We will return after these messages."

"So, Alto," Quintinus says. "I thought you said you were getting the highest score this year."

"Well, it didn't happen," I grunt. "No need to rub it in."

"You're not going to argue this one with me?" Quintinus asks. "I thought this would be something you fought me on."

"What is there to fight about?" I say. "It's not like I can storm up there and demand they change it."

Quintinus looks surprised. I'm guessing he expected me to go on a tirade about how I'm the best tribute here and how I should have the highest score, but ever since Jason told me off yesterday, I've had to watch what I say. I'm treading on very thin ice, and I'm pretty sure Ancatha would love to use anything against me if it means getting me out of the Career alliance. I can't give her the pleasure of doing so.

Isaak Monroe, 15: District 8 Male

Ten doors down but you still can't see me

I talk a lot of shit so you won't believe me

I really wouldn't say anything else

I shouldn't be standing here all by myself

The first half of the Score Reveals was pretty normal up until District 5. I don't know what the hell Tomaz did to pull a 7, but I'm not complaining. That means is a better chance at earning sponsors, but it also means we might have a target on our backs. Tomaz was talking about his little run in with Alto, the boy from 2, and that does have me a little worried. Tomaz doesn't seem to be all that concerned about it though, which makes me wonder what has happened in his life for him to be so unphased by a Career possibly threatening his life.

"Good evening, Panem," Chikere Idowu says, drawing my attention back to the television. "And welcome back to the 72nd Annual Hunger Games Score Reveal. I know you're all excited to see the rest of the tributes' scores, so let's hop right into it."

A picture of Tyler is displayed on the screen right next to Chikere. His big brown eyes seem to be staring back at me.

"From District 7, Tyler Lockette with a score of 8. Final odds; 12-1."

Everyone's jaws collectively drop at Tyler's score. An 8? Coming from a twelve-year-old, that's incredible. I've really lucked out with my allies this year. Tomaz and Tyler have both proved themselves to be valuable assets to the team. Now it's up to me and Azo to pull our weight.

"His district partner, Piper Cullen, with a score of 8. Final odds; 12-1."

"From District 8, Isaak Monroe with a score of 7. Final odds; 13-1."

I can't say I'm not satisfied with my score. Obviously, no one is as surprised as they were with Tyler, but everyone in the room seems to be happy. I look over at Taylor, Azo's mentor, who gives me a nod of approval. Henley puts an arm around me and rubs my shoulder.

"Good job, buddy," he says.

"Thanks," I say.

"Azo Cashmere," Chikere says. "With a score of 6. Final odds; 18-1."

I sigh in relief, releasing a breath I didn't even know I was holding. I'm glad that we all could pull off decent scores. I'm especially proud of Tyler and Tomaz. They both surprised me and really showed out.

"From District 9, Cannoli Cartwright with a score of 5. Final odds; 20-1."

"Also from District 9, Avena Mayes with a score of 4. Final odds; 23-1."

"From District 10, Kaven Brock with a score of 5. Final odds; 21-1."

"His district partner, Kaliah McFulton, with a score of 7. Final odds; 13-1."

"From District 11, André Barley with a score of 6. Final odds; 19-1."

"Niobe Anicello with a score of 5. Final odds; 20-1."

"From District 12, Callum Selkirk with a score of 9. Final odds; 9-1."

"And his district partner, Eris Kalking, with a score of 5. Final odds; 21-1."

"That concludes the 72nd Annual Hunger Games Score Reveal," Chikere announces. "Happy Hunger Games, and may the odds be ever in your favor."
