Chapter 27: Unforgettable!
It is Monday in Amity Park and three days have passed since Danny has regained his memory and stopped Vlad's wicked plan, as well as make sure the nanobots aren't misused again.
It's also been exactly two days since Star and Danny's official quarter-versary celebration, something the two teens had enjoyed very, very much!
Needless to say, the two lovebirds were still on cloud 9 as they walked to school together, blissful, happy and very much in love.
"I'm glad you liked my gift, My Starlight..."Danny said, still holding her hand as he said this.
"Like? I loved it, My Danny-Boo..."She said, still holding his as they entered Casper High together and they both STILL had large, dreamy grins on their faces.
"Then job well done..."He said proudly before smiling at her.
"I love you, My Starlight..."He said sweetly to her.
Star blushed and giggled.
"I love you too, My Danny-Boo..."She said, still holding his hand.
She still loved his gift for her.
Once they made it to Danny's locker, they still were holding hands and blushing. It was obvious that neither wanted to let go.
"We're here, Starlight..."Danny said lovingly to her.
"I'll hold on to you in a different way, Danny-Boo..."Star said in the same tone as she wrapped her arms around him, giving him a hug.
He smiled at the feel of her arm around him.
He sighed in recognition.
"Last Saturday was awesome..."Danny said.
Star smiled at that.
"Yeah, I loved it..."She said, still hugging her boyfriend.
Last Saturday was their quarter-versary date and it was amazing.
They had gone to a nice restaurant and then went to see a movie, then went to the observatory to watch the stars, before enjoying a nice, moonlight flight across Amity Park before it was time to exchange gifts.
Star still felt like she was the luckiest girl in the world as she remembered the whole evening. She recalled every detail about the whole thing, including what Danny gave her.
It was perfect.
FLASHBACK
It was now Saturday at night and Danny and Star were currently alone in his living room after a long, fun day of celebration.
His parents and sister had gone for pizza, though they just wanted to give them some privacy and peace. The two teenagers had also just enjoyed an entire day together with minimal ghost trouble and they enjoyed all of the time together. it was sort of a relief, considering the ecto-exodus they had to deal with just yesterday.
The two teens were currently on the couch, ready for the part Star has been eager to do for a while now.
The exchange of gifts.
"I hope you're ready..."Star said.
"I am..."Danny said.
After what happened last night and this morning, he knew she'd love this. It's not exactly the most rare and extravagant gift in the world but it was meaningful for her.
That was all that matters.
"Been waiting for this..."Star said.
"I know, I decided to wait until you were here to open it..."Danny said.
Star stared as Danny held her hands. She smiled at how this was about to happen.
"So are you going to open your present now?..." Star asked, having handed him his gift again.
Danny smiled.
"Only after you open yours..."He said as he reached into his backpack, pulling out his present.
It was a somewhat long box wrapped in silver wrapping paper and a red bow. Star squealed and immediately seized it. Once she opened it, Star gasped at the sight of her gift.
It's an art set and not just any art set either.
It was a tin of a new, professional level quality collection that included 120 of colored soft-touch pencils, pens and kneaded erasers, all of wide variety of colors.
Star then looked at him in amazement.
"Danny, this is wonderful..."She said happily.
"I remember you love drawing, I figure you would love to practice with color..."Danny said as he rubbed the back of his head sheepishly.
"I love it..."She said as she hugged him tightly.
Danny hugged her back, happy to make her smile.
"How did you get something like this so fast? And how did you afford it? I know your allowance isn't that great and the nearest place that sells this is like a city away..."She asked, knowing this isn't exactly something one could get last minute or on the cheap.
"Danny Phantom might have paid the art store quick visit before leaving the house..." Danny admitted. "Don't worry, he had $60 with tax to spare..." He quipped, getting a giggle from Star.
She stared at her gift.
She knew Danny knew how much she loved drawing on her free time and knew she'd love to try something recommended by pros.
She smiled widely, feeling the warmth of Danny wrapping his arms around her and looked into his eyes.
"I love you..."Star said.
"I love you too..."Danny said.
The two then shared a kiss, holding each other tight.
Once they parted, Star decided it was his turn to FINALLY open his gift.
"Well, aren't you going to open yours?..."She asked as she handed the gift to him again.
Danny immediately opened it and saw gasped at the sight of his gift.
It was a NASA figurine and not just any figurine either. It was a Neil Armstrong anniversary figure, one of the Apollo 11 mission to be more precise.
It was one that he had wanted and had been saving up for but now he doesn't have to.
"Star, I can't believe it! You actually got what I was saving months for..."Danny said in amazement.
Star smiled.
"I got it for you..."She said sweetly.
Danny smiled as he looked at his gift and then at his girlfriend.
To think, he almost lost what he has with her due to what happened yesterday. A mistake he will avoid from now on.
"Come here, I wanna thank you..."He said as he got closer to her.
"Here I am..."Star said coyly as she got closer to him.
The wrapped their arms around each other once more and looked like they were about to kiss but not before they said this.
"Happy quarter-versary, Starlight..."Danny said, still with his arms around her.
"Happy quarter-versary, My Danny-Boo..."Star cooed to him as she returned the gesture with her arms.
The two then shared a kiss, their gifts, which they both loved, were put aside to enjoy a different kind of gift.
Each other.
End Of Flashback
Present Time
That was how it went and the two lovebirds loved their gifts and even more, they loved their relationship.
Very, very much.
After last Friday, their love grew even stronger and more intact. In fact, Star still had her gift from Danny, as he did as well.
"You knew, I have my art set in my bag...ready in case I see something I need to draw..."Star said.
"And my new figure is safely in my room, phased inside a metal box I left so that in case my parents set the house on fire… again… it won't get damaged..."Danny said to Star, wanting to play it safe.
Star nodded, thinking that was a safe idea.
She did like Danny's parents now but she knew that they don't always make the safest gadgets.
Anyway, the two lovebirds kept staring into each others eyes and enjoyed being closer to each other.
"Thanks, Starlight..."Danny said, still with his arms around her.
"You're welcome, My Danny-Boo..."Star cooed to him as she rested her head on his shoulder.
Star, Mia and Paige saw this and found it adorable.
"Aw!..."The three girls said, gushing over how cute the couple is.
A few of the girls were actually impressed with how the two are actually happy together. The only one here who didn't find the sight adorable, was the same one who was seething in jealousy.
It was Colette, who was currently glaring in envy at the sight of her hated stepsister and the boy whom she believes should be hers.
"If it weren't for that idiot with that hideous mascot costume, he'd be mine..."Colette said, crushing the pen in her hand, not noticing or caring the ink stained her skin.
"I will not let this stop me. I will have what I deserve..."She muttered before she stormed off, huffing in anger.
Star saw her stepsister and narrowed her eyes. So did Danny. They haven't forgotten about the stunt she pulled last Friday, when she tried to take advantage of Danny's amnesia to ruin their relationship.
It was one of the most rotten things and Colette has done A LOT of rotten stuff before. It was the only thing to ruin Star's mood.
"Colette!..." Star said the name like a curse.
She wanted nothing more than to point out how manipulative she had been and make her go away. Unfortunately, they couldn't exactly prove what Colette did without evidence, they didn't exactly had any video of the event and even if they did, they decided that NOT letting Danny's folks know about his temporary amnesia was the best choice, mostly since they couldn't exactly explain HOW it happened or how Danny came in contact with stolen experimental technology in the first place. .
So, instead, they they pretended nothing happened around anyone, even if it meant Colette got away scot free. However, they had to opt for something else, revenge.
It may not be the most civilized thing to do, but she deserved it.
Plus, so far, none of the grounding seems to have done a difference with Colette, so they had to do something to punished the huge brat.
Something personal for her.
"She's going to pay for what she did..."Star said, eager for revenge.
"What do you have mind for her?..."Danny asked, still glaring at Colette's retreating form. "Overshadowed dancing? Attack of the haunted soda machine? Dropping frogs down her pants?..."Danny asked with a smirk, recalling the time he did it to Dash.
Sure, it got him in trouble with Poindexter but he's not complaining.
"Or maybe we let loose the Box Ghost and tell him she crushed a box..."He said with a snicker, since that would make the annoying ghost bother Colette for a while.
"Tempting but no. Me and the girls have other ideas..."Star said.
"What do you have in mind?..."Danny asked.
"You'll see later, Danny-Boo. It took me, Jazz and Sam a while but we came up with the perfect punishment for that pest..."Star said with a gleam of mischief in her eyes.
Danny smiled at her, impressed by her planning revenge on Colette.
"Man, that's hot!..."He thought before the warning bell rang, signalling that they had to get to homeroom and soon.
Danny turned to his girlfriend with a loving look on his face.
"Shall we, Milady?..."Danny said as he offered his hand to her.
"We shall, My love..."Star said as she took his hand.
They soon went to their homeroom class with Lancer, together.
Just as it SHOULD be.
Later
It was lunch time and everyone was at their tables. All content, save for one.
Colette had stormed into the lunch room, barely eating any of her catered lunch and feeling angry and frustrated.
Not only with the fact that her plan last Friday was ruined but her beloved Danny and her stupid stepsister are even closer than ever now.
They have spent the entire day so far at each other's side, hugging, giggling, kissing, holding hands, smiling and saying "I love you" to each other.
It was sickening!
"That should be ME!..."Colette thought in jealousy as she watched the two lovebirds at their usual table, being all lovey-dovey with each other, much to the irritation of their friends.
"Want another one?..."Star said as she playfully fed Danny a fry.
"Love to, thank you..."Danny quipped before eating it and went back to being all lovey dovey with her.
"Oh, gag!..."Sam said as she watched the couple be more lovey dovey then usual.
Her only solace is that Colette was suffering this sight as well.
"If this makes her sick, I'll stomach it..." She thought.
Speaking of which, Colette saw the whole thing and wanted to explode.
"I will make her pay for getting in the way..."She said in anger as she she glared at Star.
She still didn't understand how Danny could choose her stepsister, when he knew that he could have her!
To her, it was an insult and she was truly confused about about his choice, not realizing or caring that Danny IS capable of overlooking good looks and seeing her for what she really was.
Soon the bell rang, signalling that lunch is over and it would soon be time to go to their next periods.
"I was too angry to eat anyway..."Colette said in jealousy as she stormed off.
Unknown to her, a certain group of teenage ghost hunters saw her leave and nodded to each other.
They had their revenge all planned out.
"So, how exactly are we getting payback on that fake redheaded witch?..."Danny asked.
"It took us a while but we came up with something..."Sam said.
"So, what do you guys have planned? Gonna do something humiliating, like a dunk-booth or ambush her with pies..."Tucker guessed.
"Tempting but no..."Star said.
"So, what IS the plan? It's not assault, is it?..."Danny asked.
"No, I can't afford detention again..."Sam said, shaking her head.
"Are you gonna give her amnesia too and make her forget about everything..."Tucker guessed and the others sent him a baffled look.
"Hey, I'm just asking. Plus, it would be karmic..."He pointed out.
"As poetic as that would be, I don't wanna go that far..."Danny said.
"I second that..."Star agreed.
As much as she despises her stepsister, that's too much.
"Then what?..."The tech boy asked.
The girls smiled.
"Let's just say Colette will NEVER forget what we have planned..."Sam said, nodding to Star as it was time.
"But we might need a little...invisible help..."Star said as she looked to her boyfriend.
"Help?..."He asked and Tucker looked curious.
Star, Sam and Jazz then whispered the entire plan to the boys, who both looked at the girls in surprise and maybe eagerness.
"You serious?..."Tucker said with a grin.
"Yeah, I know it's a little childish and I still wish we could get her in REAL trouble but it will definitely hilarious..."Star said.
"I know but as much as I'd love to have that brat prosecuted for trying to manipulate my little brother, this will have to do..."Jazz said.
"Plus, we can't exactly put a restraining order on that witch without proof, so we have to settle for this..."Sam said.
"But we need you, Little Brother..."Jazz said in a hinting way as she showed them a bottle.
With Danny
After the girls explained to him the details of exactly what he had to do, Danny took the bottle, ran to the boys' bathroom and hid in one of the stalls.
He then transformed into his ghostly alter ego and immediately fazed out of there. He then went to Colette, who before going into the locker room to change into her gym uniform, was now talking to Paulina.
"Colette, a word..."Paulina said.
"If we must..."Colette said, barely hiding her annoyance as she placed her bag down and talked to her friend.
"Good, so anyway...we need to talk about next weekend. Dash is going to throw a party and we need to talk about outfits and our dates and-..."Paulina kept rambling, much to the irritation of the fake red head, who just nodded with a fake smile.
"What I wouldn't give to be stuck at one of Papa's meetings right now..."Colette thought in annoyance as she just nodded with a fake smile to her "friend".
Danny took this chance to do it, he hovered to the floor, where Colette had her very expensive tote bag that had all of her makeup, beauty products and even a hair curler of all things.
Star told him that Colette takes three showers a day and takes forever in them. She'd never notice.
"Gotta say… this should be hilarious..." He though as he quickly went to Colette's bag that had all her toiletries before she finished talking to her so-called friends and hit the showers.
Danny quickly fazed his hand through it, rummaging through all the beauty products and makeup. After a moment of searched, he pulled out a bottle of Colette's fancy shampoo, which, according to the girls, she always uses after gym class.
He had to work fast before Colette finished talking to Paulina.
While the two girls were busy talking, he quickly dumped out the half of the contents of the shampoo and filled it's bottle with the goop that the girl's had given him and quickly mixed it inside
Danny had to hold his breath while he did it, since this stuff smelled awful but it was necessary for the plan.
"I don't even wanna know what they used for that smell..."He thought before he quickly placing everything back back in the bag.
Danny flew away, just in time for Colette to stop talking to Paulina and take her bag into the girl's locker room, completely unaware of the what the ghostly boy did.
Danny smirked.
It was time for Colette to get some much needed payback and humiliation.
"Au revoir, Colette..."He said as he went to go rejoin his friends and girlfriend in the hall.
In the hallway
Danny, now in human form, rejoined Star and the others.
"Did you do it?..."She asked.
"Yep, just finished in time for her to go into the locker room, just like you told me..."Danny said with a smirk.
Star smiled, kissing him on the cheek.
"Good boyfriend..."She said as she playfully pet his head like a dog. Danny rolled his eyes but still smiled.
"Mind telling me what that stuff was called again, it smelled pretty nasty?..."Danny sad.
Jazz and Sam just smiled and so did Star.
"You'll see..." Jazz told her brother.
"Yeah, and once she uses it...well...Well..."Sam paused.
"You'll see..."Star said before giggling mischievously.
One thing that they did know, is that Colette is going to get quite a surprise once gym class is over.
Later
Danny, Star, Jazz, Sam and Tucker were currently in the hallway, waiting in anticipation.
Since it was their free period, Colette's gym class has just let out and it was now time to take showers.
"How long until her royal brattiness comes out of her shower?..."Sam asked.
"Should be any moment now..."Star said, grinning like the cat who caught the canary.
"Colette should be using it in about 1 minute..."Danny said as he looked at his watch.
That's when it happened.
"AHHHHH!..."A loud shriek echoed throughout the school, startling some students but Team Phantom, who smirked at the sound of it.
"Wow, she beat my projected time..."Danny said with a smirk.
"She must be that eager to clean, must've been pretty sweaty there..." Star said.
Speaking of Colette, almost immediately, Star's stepsister stormed into the hallway, angry.
She was relatively unharmed, except now, her hair is GREEN!
As in puke green and soaked!
"Oh my gosh!..."Tucker laughed so hard at sight of the sickly green hair on top of Star's mean stepsister.
"So that's what was in there..."Danny said, chuckling at the sight of it.
"Please tell me someone remembered to bring a camera…."Jazz giggled.
"Way ahead of you Jazz!..."Sam said, having snapped a picture or two.
"Best day ever!..."Star said, loving every moment of this as Colette shrieked and started to panic.
Embarrassed beyond words, she began running through the halls for someplace to hide as students laughed and took pictures of her.
She wanted to get out of here without being seen by someone important but it got worse as she ran into her least favorite person in the world, along with the boy that they both like.
Both of which were laughing at her.
"Um...love the new hair Colette. I guess green is in..."Danny mocked and Colette gasped, mortified.
"Mon Amore, I...I...this wasn't my doing..."She said embarrassed, as tried to hide her face from Danny, blushing deeply in mortification as her "Mon Amore" saw her in this state.
Talk about humiliating!
"I think green looks good on you!…"Star laughed, taking out her phone and snapping a shot.
The entire hallway laughed at the now humiliated Colette. The red haired girl tried to shout, only to see her stepsister laugh harder than anyone and had a realization.
"YOU!..."She yelled.
"Me?..."Star said mockingly.
Colette pointed her finger at her.
"YOU DID THIS TO ME, ESTELLE! HOW DARE YOU?!..."Colette yelled accusingly at her.
Star only scoffed while Danny stepped in.
"Actually, I did that..."Danny said smugly, making Colette gasp and some students to look shocked.
"Mon Amore...you did this? But...But why?..."Colette said in disbelief and maybe even hurt.
"Maybe because I'm still angry, you know, for what happened and I think you know what I mean..."Danny said as he narrowed his eyes, subtly reminding her of what happened last Friday.
Colette heard this and felt a twinge of misery, before she turned her attention to her stepsister.
"I know that you put him up to this..."Colette accused. "Why else would he do this to me?..."She yelled.
"Maybe to give you a hint he's not into you..."Star said as she wrapped her arms around Danny.
Colette gritted her teeth at this and snarled at Star and Danny.
"This will never be forgotten, Estelle!..."Colette yelled at her before leaving in a huff, to try and to leave with some of her dignity.
Unfortunately for her, she was doing down a crowded hallway causing more students to laugh at her.
Even the girls who support Danny and Star's relationship.
"How could you not have smelled the bottle?..."Mia asked in a confused way.
Colette, in a fit of anger, stormed faster but not before making this statement.
"I WILL have Danny Fenton for my boyfriend! Make no mistake about that!..."Colette declared angrily before storming off.
The trio of girls saw this and rolled their eyes.
"Touchy..."Paige said with arms crossed.
"You said it..."Ashley said agreed and Mia nodded.
A humiliated and furious Colette then marched away, trying to get away and preserve what little she had of her dignity, all the while thinking of how to make Star suffer.
Unfortunately, Mr. Lancer had seen the entire thing and heard the laughter.
"Taming of the Shrew! Who is responsible for this prank?!..."The teacher exclaimed.
The ghostly boy decided to speak up before his girlfriend, sister and friend could instead.
"It was all me, Mr. Lancer. I was the one who switched Colette's shampoo with the goop..."Danny said, since it wasn't a lie.
Star and the other's didn't want this but the look he sent assured them.
Mr. Lancer gawked at Danny's "confession" and got angry in a second.
"How dare you do such a thing, Mr. Fenton? I'll have to punish you severely for that and it's going to be a punishment you won't forget..."Mr. Lancer said sternly to the ghostly boy.
Danny and the others heard this and found the whole thing ironic.
"I hope not Mr. Lancer, I sure hope not..."Danny said with a smirk.
The teacher looked stunned by what he just heard while Danny, Star, Jazz, Tucker and Sam let out more laughter, much to the confusion of those around them.
"Of mice and men! Tell me what is so funny!..." Lancer cried out but that made the teens laugh harder as the teacher grabbed a hold of his head in anxiety.
For all he knew, he'd be joining them soon.
Unknown to the fat teacher and laughing students, a certain female huntress saw the thing and giggled.
"Man, I wish my armor had that camera feature..."She said to herself as she wiped her eyes clean from the tears formed from laughter.
Later
School had just let out and while the now green haired Colette was busy dealing with her humiliation and demanded to be let to go home to fix her hair, unsurprisingly the office allowed it since the smell of her hair was getting too strong.. Team Phantom was just happy to get some payback...even if it was only temporary and with a price.
Danny had just gotten out of detention, where his friends, sister and girlfriend were waiting for him outside the room he was in.
"How was it?..."Tucker asked.
"Nothing serious, just the usual..."Danny said with a shrug, not that bothered.
His girlfriend still felt a little guilty for him taking the heat.
"Sorry for getting you in trouble, Danny..."Star said apologetically.
She didn't want him to get detention for this but Danny waved it off.
"Hey, getting payback for what happened is worth the detention..."Danny said.
"Not too surprising..."Jazz said knowing Danny was used to detention by now.
"I gotta say, the green hair was a nice touche..."Danny said.
Tucker nodded.
"Yeah, and gross..."He said, waving a hand under his nose. "Where'd you get that stuff and what was it?..."He couldn't help but ask.
"Let's just say it was messy and seeing her reaction was worth almost puking..."Star explained.
"Personally, I would have loved to have butchered her hair with a lawnmower but that could easily go wrong..."Sam said.
"And I would have loved to just shave her whole head bald but this was more satisfying..."Star said.
Danny chuckled.
"At least, we got our payback..."He said.
"Yeah, at least..."Star said as she wrapped her arms around him.
"And that's my cue to leave. Later guys..."Sam said, leaving before they got all mushy again.
"Yeah, I better go too..."Tucker said.
"I better get going, Mom and Dad are going to are going to need help packing..."Jazz said.
"Huh? Packing..."Star questioned.
"Tell you later..." Jazz said.
"Let's just say my dad hates where they're going..." Danny added before his friends and sister began to leave.
"Later Dude..."Tucker said, leaving.
"Have fun, you two..."Jazz said before also leaving the lovebirds alone.
"Oh, we will..."Danny said and Star blushed.
The two teens soon smiled together, still not letting go of each other.
With Danny and Star
Danny and Star got what they needed from her locker and were now heading out.
However, before leaving, Star stopped and had one last bit of business.
"One moment, Danny-Boo..."Star said, wanting to make a quick stop at the bathroom.
"Okay, I'll wait outside..."Danny said as he watched her go in.
Danny walked out the door to wait for her by the steps.
To his surprise, he saw there, sitting on the steps, was Valerie who was drinking a can of soda as she she looked up at him and waved.
"Hey Danny..." She said, putting her can down.
"Hi..." Danny said, still worried that she might know his identity. "So, how is everything?..."He asked.
"Pretty good..."She said. "Where's Star?..."She asked.
"She went to the bathroom, she'll be back in a minute..."He said, a little nervous.
He was still recalling what happened yesterday and how it went. He was also still concern if she knew his secret or not. The huntress, on the other hand, didn't seem hostile and in fact, seemed at ease around him.
"Say, Danny? Could we talk for a minute?..."Val asked before she patted the seat next to her. "Please..."She said.
Danny was a little skeptical but he nodded and sat next to her.
"Sooo..."Danny began, not really sure how to talk with her. "What's up?..."He asked nervously.
Valerie just started laughing, making Danny confused.
"Uh...what's so funny. Do I have something stuck in my teeth?..."Danny thought in confusion as Valerie laughed.
"Uh, Valerie...mind letting me on the joke?..." He asked, confused
It took a moment for Valerie's laughter to calm down.
"I'm sorry… it's just-..."She paused, still looking amused.
"Just what?..."Danny asked, not getting it.
Valerie laughed again but it was shorter and more towards herself than him.
"Wow, I really was dense if I didn't see it before..." She said, making Danny even more confused
"See what?..."Danny asked, getting more nervous.
"I think you know what, Danny. It's not like you change the way you talk or even wear a hat or something..."She said, looking at him with a raised eyebrow and a smile.
Danny was still clueless until his eyes widen and he tensed up, realizing something.
"How long?..."He asked, hoping it's not what he thinks.
Valerie just smiled for some reason.
"Remember when you went on that vacation with your folks to that boring dude ranch?..." She asked.
Danny nodded and gestured her to continue.
"Let's just say that I realized why a little girl looked like both Phantom and Fenton...and that if there is one halfa who has a similar name to Danny Fenton, why can't there be another? By the way, in retrospect, I like the play on your name but it's too on the nose..."She said.
Danny panicked upon hearing that.
"So, you know that-..."Danny paused and Val nodded.
"That you're a halfa? Namely Danny Phantom. Yeah, I know..."She said.
"How'd you figure it out?..."Danny asked and Val sighed.
"The clues were all there, I was just too angry to see it. In fact, it sort of explained a few things...why you were always late to class and tired and sweaty, why You didn't like me during that flour sack project and I can't blame you to mention why he...or you... cared about the sack. It also explained why Dani's human form looked so much like you..."She explained, before her tone soon became guilty. "Plus, Star really tore into me for attacking you all those times and I realized that it wasn't just fan loyalty. No, it was personal for her and you..."She said with a sad look on her face.
"I also figured that girl in the hazmat suit was either her or someone who you gave your folks gear too, and since I know that you wouldn't give that stuff to just anyone, I know that it was her since she is close to the only kid who has access to junk like that. Plus, she used her petname for you while you were Phantom, which was a pretty big slip up..."The dark haired girl said while Danny looked sheepish at that. "I am also guessing something happened with your powers, and that was her in the silver suit..."She said, looking down.
"So, how far off am I?..."She asked.
"Actually, you're pretty spot on..."Danny admitted before noticing her expression.
"Valerie..."Danny started but she waved him off.
"No, no need to say it..."Val said, looking guilty for what she almost did.
Danny was actually wondering what she could possibly be thinking right now. At the very least, she hasn't tried attacking him yet, so he took it as a good sign. Yet, he was unsure.
Does this make her friend or foe now?
The female hunter then turned to the boy, still looking hurt and sad, and also a little guilty.
"I dumped you... all so I could protect you from...you..." Valerie let out a dry laugh. "Ain't that ironic..."She muttered.
Danny sent her a guilty look and wanted to at least try and cheer her up but he didn't know how to.
Still, he spoke.
"Val, just so you know, I never meant for what happened with your dad..."Danny said.
"I know, Star already told me all about Cujo. Actually, she told me LOUDLY and ANGRILY..."Val said, not forgetting how angry her best friend was with her that night.
"She did suspect you might have figured it out by now..." Danny said.
"She always was smarter than people gave her credit for..."Val chuckled before shaking her head and becoming serious.
"Danny...about what happened... I am sorry..."Val said, sincerely. "For all of it..."She said.
The ghost boy sent her a sincere look and said the following.
"It's fine, I never blamed you..." Danny said, surprising her.
"You didn't?..."Valerie said in disbelief. "But...but...but with everything I did-..."She began but Danny cut her off.
"Oh yeah, you've done some damage...I've got plenty of bruises to prove it...He muttered. "But you've also done a lot of good for Amity Park..."He said to her.
"Besides, we know who to really blame..."He added.
Val frowned, thinking of that Fruitloop who gave her the gear and used her as his puppet and made her do his dirty work.
The mere thought of him made Valerie want to punch something. She just wanted it to be his face.
"I can't believe I used to trust him..."Val said in disgust as she thought about that old Fruitloop.
Danny saw her expression and he sympathized with her. He had fallen for Vlad's plans more than once and he knew personally how slimy he could be.
"Val, take it from someone who's known him longer. Vlad's good at twisting people to do what he wants. Don't blame yourself..."He said sympathetically.
"I guess I should take it out on him instead..."Valerie said, still feeling lousy about everything.
"Look, I know you want payback, but he doesn't know you know and that we made amends. That's something we can use..."Danny said.
Valerie said nothing for a long time. She was in deep thought as she let Danny's words get to her.
"Do you really think he'll go after my dad over what happened?..."Val asked, angry and worried.
Her dad is innocent and the only parent she has. She was deeply worried and Danny knew where she was coming from obviously, but he shook his head.
"I wouldn't worry since he probably still thinks he can use you..." Danny said. "Vlad has a habit of finding a way to exploit a weakness..."He said.
Valerie looked somewhat relieved at that but was still worried.
"Doesn't mean he won't try..."She said.
"And we'll keep him safe. I promise..."The ghost boy added.
Danny held out his hand and smiled in a hopeful way.
"So, what do you say Val, we still have our truce?..."Danny asked, his hand still held out.
Valerie looked down at his hand and nodded.
"Yeah, we do..." She said, shaking it.
The two ghost hunters were happy, especially Danny, who didn't need to worry about her shooting him. As for Valerie, she was glad that she knew the truth and that Danny wasn't holding anything against her.
Now all they had to do was worry about one thing.
"So, Vlad..."Valerie started.
"Yeah..."Danny said scratching his head.
"What are we going to do about him?..." She asked.
"For now, nothing. We just stop his plans but he'll slip up and we'll get him..."Danny said, before smirking. "Plus, if he still thinks you're on his side, you might be able to find something that we can use against him..."Danny said.
Val didn't like the idea of still working for Vlad, but Danny did have a point. As long as Vlad still thinks she was his pawn, then her dad would be safe and she can let Danny know in case something happens.
Plus, she might be able to find something to to take him down from the inside. Hopefully without getting anyone else in harm's way.
"Okay, I'm in. If he's up to something, I'll tell you..."Valerie said, nodding.
Star soon arrived and saw Valerie and Danny sitting together.
"I wonder what they're talking about..."She thought.
Danny looked back to see his girlfriend and smiled.
"Hey Star..."He said and Valerie turned too.
"Hey, girl..."She said.
"Hey..." Star greeted, still a little confused by her presence.
Sure, she knew that Val and Danny were still sorta friends but after Friday, she was a little on edge.
Seriously, what was happening here?
The blonde girl sat next to them and wanted answered.
"Sooo...what's going on here?..." Star asked awkwardly.
Danny and Val just shared a look and laughed, while Star remained clueless there.
"Oh man, you two are perfect together..."Val said.
"You don't know the half of it..."Danny said with a smile, much to his girlfriend's bewilderment.
"Uh… thanks..." His girlfriend said.
Star smiled at her best friend and boyfriend but she was still confused.
"Okay, I'm lost. What were you two laughing about?..."She asked.
Danny sighed and decided to just fill her in and establish their truce.
"Val knows..."Danny said.
"About his black and white jumpsuit..."Valerie added.
Star gasped and inched back.
"So you DID figure it out that night..."She said and Val nodded.
"Yeah, I did and you can relax, girl. I'm not gonna hunt your boyfriend or blast him in the back..." Valerie told her.
"You're not?..."Star asked in a cautious yet hopeful tone.
"Yeah, in fact she's going to help us with a certain problem and make Amity Park safer..."Danny said.
Val nodded.
"Yeah, we got a common enemy. So, we're on the same side and going to be dealing with him..."She said.
Star looked relieved but she had to clarify.
"So, let me get this straight: you know Danny's secret, and Vlad's, you are not enemies anymore and you're not gonna tell people , we're on the same side and Val's going to spy on the Fruitloop while pretending to be on his side?..."Star asked.
Danny and Val nodded.
"Pretty much..."They both said.
Star smiled and looked happy with the arrangement.
This meant she didn't have to be angry at her friend while having to hide it or keep secrets from her best friend. Plus now they could all go ghost hunting together.
She was so happy that she didn't have to keep secrets from Val and go behind her back.
She even hugged her best friend for this.
"Oh my gosh, Val! I feel so much better!..."Star said, relieved.
"I do too..." Val said.
"Seriously! I have so many things to tell you, you wouldn't believe the things I've experienced since Specter Island, life changing experiences, good and bad..."Star said, relieved to finally able to talk about them openly with her best friend.
"As much as I'd love to hear it, can it wait a little while...I gotta take a raincheck, you know...work..."The huntress said.
"Oh, sure..."Star said, understanding and still relieved at this.
Valerie then stood up and started to leave, but not before looking at Danny.
See you in the skies, Phantom..."The female ghost hunter said,offering the ghost boy a salute before turning to her best friend.
"Later, Star..."She said.
"Bye Val..."Star waved.
Valerie soon left, leaving the young couple alone.
Star was a little worried and she was glad as well. It was complicated but she looked at the positives.
"So, Val is on our side now..."She said.
"Yeah, I think she is..."Danny said.
Star smiled at that.
"Good..."She said before she hugged him.
"Despite all the crazy stuff, I'm relieved that you have one LESS person trying to waste you and this one is helping us now..."She said, happy that she no longer has to deal with seeing her best friend shooting her boyfriend anymore.
"I agree..."Danny said as he hugged her back.
For a moment, Danny and Star remained in each other's arms, still not wanting to let each other go. The young lovers just continued to hold onto each other and not letting go.
They kept looking into each other's eyes and smiling. There are no ghosts in sights, no hunters, no unwanted attention from bullies or stepsiblings. Just them.
It was a perfect moment.
Unknown to them, Valerie was still nearby and saw them.
She sighed.
"Congrats, Star. You lucked out..."She thought before turning on her armor and leaving fast to avoid being late for work.
Meanwhile
In the remains of Vlad's secret chamber, Skulker pulled himself out of the bathroom sink. It seems that he had found his way through the sewers once he found the right pipes. The past 6 hours involved going to places and into pipes he's sworn to never speak of to anyone.
"I'm back..."Skulker, in his true form, said, soaked with sewer water.
He figured that three days was enough time to mitigate Vlad's temper, plus he couldn't live in the sewers anymore, especially since the rats were starting to try and bite him.
"You have no idea how long it took to find my way out of that sewer…" He said before noticing the chamber in ruins.
"Plasmius? "He asked out loud, only to get no answer.
Seeing that no one was around but a mess of machinery and broken glass, The so-called greatest hunter of the Ghost Zone got the feeling that Vlad's plan for the whelp didn't work...and that meant that his boss wasn't so calm at the moment.
"Uh… I'll come back later…" He said before he then flew off.
He left before Vlad could even be aware of his presence and take his anger out on him.
Back With Danny and Star
Danny and Star just finished hugging and looking into each other's eyes, happy as can be.
"So Starlight... want to get a Nasty Burger?..."Danny asked. "My treat..."He added.
Star smiled to her boyfriend and nodded.
"Sure...sounds unforgettable..."She said.
The two laughed and took a moment to enjoy what they have.
The two love birds soon left hand in hand again, both feeling happy and in love with each other.
Once again, all is as it should be.
