Preface: Well, not much to say here this time. I'll save my remaining thoughts for the end of this chapter.

CHAOS HAVEN
Previously...the long and tiring quest to rescue the kingdom of Whisker Haven had finally come to an end. Sonic, Tails, and their friends and newfound allies have defeated Metal Sonic and ensured that Little Planet, which can apparently also travel to Whisker Haven, is safe. Following a long celebration, the heroes of Mobius returned to their dimension to rest up.
Now...each hero and villain look forward to the future, wondering what will happen next.

"Well, this is absolutely disgraceful."
Metal Sonic watched Scratch and Grounder as they presented their hastily-done birthday cake and card for Dr. Eggman. Following Metal Sonic's defeat, the robot had powered down to normal, and the Head Badniks grabbed him and quickly traveled through a Warp Zone back to Mobius.
"Well, whaddya expect?" said Scratch at Metal's snide comment. "We can't decide to take over another dimension to expand the empire for Eggman's birthday present!"
"Why did you decide to do it for that reason, anyway?" asked Grounder. "I thought you were just a ruthless killing machine."
Metal sighed. "Well, I can't believe I'm saying this but...he is like a father to me. I am genuinely concerned about what happened to him after the Phantom Ruby incident."
At that moment, Dr. Eggman suddenly appeared behind them, in the similar distortion effect of the Phantom Ruby. "Yes!" he cried. "I'm finally freed from that pocket dimension! That damned ruby just did not let up!" He looked behind him and saw the sorry excuse for his birthday party.
"Um, happy birthday, Master..."

The Chaotix made their place of residence in their office in Westopolis, a city and member of the United Federation. It was the morning after the adventure in Whisker Haven.
"So, whaddya wanna do?" asked Vector, stretching. There were no new cases, and they didn't know what to do.
"How about we go on a road trip?" suggested Charmy. "See the world, help anyone in need."
"Nah, that just seems like a bit of a brain fart from the author," said Vector.
Espio suddenly came through the door. "I have a new case!" he said. "And it involves those troublemakers, Team Hooligan…"

"Go long, Ray!"
Mighty and Ray were currently out on the football field, playing with the old pigskin a little. The flying squirrel ran off and flew up into the air, catching the football.
"Yes! Sure makes up for yesterday!" cried Ray. He sent it towards the ground and did a small victory dance.
"We've gotten pretty good," said Mighty. "Wanna get a few friends and play a real game?"
"Yeah, sure!" said Ray, high-fiving the armadillo. "And later, I wanna start practicing. Tranquil Gulch is having their baking contest again in April, and you can never be too prepared!"

Charles began to test out the next add-on to the Dimensional Displacement Capacitor, which would be a coordinate inputter. He set it to "dimension" and put the coordinates at [5, 10, 17]. When he stepped through the Warp Zone, he found himself in a weird world made entirely of Lego bricks.
"Fascinating," he said. "I must study this world next!"

[Current Location: Westside Island, Kingdom of Acorn]
After her breakfast, Amy proceeded with her usual morning routine of looking at her special tarot cards. Because of her uncle's mystic abilities, they always seemed to determine her day.
"Okay, let's see…" she said, looking at them. "Someone will try and attack you, you will find your favorite snack at the supermarket...oh, not this one again!"
The last one she got was one that depicted her wearing a crown, surrounded by the Chaos Emeralds. She didn't know what it meant, but she just wished the meaning would hurry up and reveal itself. And it would, rather soon…

The Master Emerald was back in its usual spot, keeping Angel Island afloat. Knuckles lounged around it, still making sure no one stole it.
"Man, that was some adventure," he said, thinking about the previous day's events. "Y'know, Sonic might actually be a good guy after all…"
Suddenly, a fly appeared out of nowhere. And quite literally, almost like it teleported in there. "Ah, hello, Guardian," it said.
"Oh, you again," said Knuckles. The fly had shown up several times within the past months. "What is it this time, that same old ritual?"
"Well, an associate of mine detected interactions between one of the emeralds and a chosen one," said the fly. "So we shall see if the Catalyst has occurred yet."
Knuckles sat on the Master Emerald, his legs crossed. He said the ancient prayer alongside the fly, and holographic images of Sonic, Tails, and Amy appeared on the stone Super Emerald relics. A subtle glow appeared on the one where Amy was standing on.
"Interesting," said the fly. "Contact with the emerald was made, but the powers weren't fully unlocked."
"So, what does this mean?" asked Knuckles.
"It means that the girl hedgehog should be a chosen one," said the fly, "but it might be a little longer before we can be sure." After that, the fly vanished.
Knuckles went to a secret area only he knew about and took out a scroll depicting several heads, with the words "The Chosen Ones and their Vessels" on top. The top row had the heads of him, Sonic, Tails, and Amy. He put an 'X' over Amy, and circles around the other heads in that row.

It was a bit of a relaxing day for Sonic and Tails, going into Green Hills to see how things were going, but Sonic was still unusually tired from the previous day, so he decided to make it an early night.
Tails, however, decided to stay out for a little while longer and look at the stars. The thought that there might be something beyond them made him excited. To think that there might actually be something beyond the boundaries of outer space!
Suddenly, he saw a familiar orange tail behind the speed trap. He got up and walked over. "Sultan? What are you doing here?"
"Hey, Tails!" said Sultan. "I wanted to check out your world for a bit."
"Well I hope you've enjoyed it," Ms. Featherbon said as she suddenly appeared, "because now we're heading back!"
"Aww, okay," said Sultan.
Just then, a thought came to Tails. "Hey, Ms. Featherbon! Do you think you can stay out here a bit longer?"
"Why?"
Tails quickly ran inside to look for one of his creations. When he ran back out, he placed down a model DeLorean DMC-12 with odd modificactions. "Try to use your magic to make this grow!"
Ms. Featherbon pointed her wings at the model and said "Make this model as big as a real car, and let it carry young Tails very far!"

Suddenly, the model grew as big as a real DMC-12. Excitedly, Tails opened the door. Inside were many modifications you'd be familiar with if you'd ever seen the Back to the Future movies.
"What is this thing?" asked Sultan, hopping in.
"This thing here's a time machine!" said Tails.
"A time machine?" said Ms. Featherbon in disbelief. "How can a model car be a time machine?"
"Lemme show you!" Tails quickly hopped out, grabbed some trash, put it into a tube on top of the car, and ran back in. Pushing some buttons near the steering wheel, he set the time for exactly a minute after the current time.
"What's happening now?" asked Sultan, his curiosity increasing.
"Buckle up," said Tails, "because if all goes well, when we hit 88 MPH, we'll be sent one minute into the future!"
"Just like those postmarks on the Royal Moon!" said Ms. Featherbon.
And so, Tails pressed down on the gas pedal and began to drive into Green Hills. Once the car reached 88 MPH, blue streaks began to appear, and they were exactly one minute into the future.
"Wow! Did it work?" asked Sultan.
"Well, look at my watch," said Tails, "and then the clocktower." Sure enough, Tails's watch read 9:40, while the clocktower read 9:41.
"Wow! Incredible!" said Ms. Featherbon. "Well, thank you for sharing this with us. Now let's get this back to its normal size!"
As he watched the model shrink, thoughts began to fly through Tails's mind. His model worked just as good as the real thing! And there was that size changer he was working on…
It would work. He would make it work. But maybe not immediately. He'd wait a little first, but he knew that he'd go through with this plan, eventually.

Postface: And there we go! It's all done! I can't believe I did it. If I were to go back to March 2019 and tell myself that I'd make it this far, I wouldn't have believed myself. This story has changed a lot since I initially wrote it, and it's definitely a whole lot better. In hindsight, I probably could've done away with the Palace Pets stuff, but I kinda feel like they make this a bit sweeter.
Now then, I will be taking two weeks off from consecutive writing to rest and revise some more stuff. I'll be back October 16th, but until then, keep an eye out for some more side stuff, including that second Back to the Future story that kept getting delayed, and the prelude to my next story...
