Chapter XII
Battery Park, New York City- Day. Amanda Waller is standing outside the door of the Headquarters of the Justice Society of America. She knocks on the door; Power Girl answers.
Power Girl: President Waller. What brings you here?
Amanda Waller: A matter of utmost importance. I am hoping the Justice Society of America would help.
Jay Garrick ran up to the door.
Jay: You are not welcome here.
Amanda Waller: Just let me in.
Spectre: I don't think we should.
Amanda Waller: It'll be worth your while.
Power Girl: Okay. What is it you need us for?
Stargirl: If this is a political promotional rally, then count me out.
Amanda Waller: No. Listen, I need someone taken care of. Ravager and Red Hood have betrayed me, and since I've lost Jericho, I was hoping you'd comply and see the traitors are dealt with. You'll be rewarded handsomely for your services.
Spectre: They're your problem, not mine.
Hawkman: If you've forgotten, we're loyal to all of America, not slaves to its leader.
Amanda Waller: For god's sake this is our country! You don't actually believe in these scandals don't you?
Power Girl: I heard enough to know that you formed the Suicide Squad when you were still Warden at Belle Reve Penitentiary. Then after you won the election, you saw no more use for them, so you hired people to eliminate them. Said people betrayed you, and you're exhausting government resources by hunting down the people who crossed you. That's a scandal right there and we're not helping you wriggle out of this mess you're in.
Amanda Waller: Very well, if you don't wanna help your country than I'll have to reveal your identities to the public.
S.T.R.I.P.E: Get out before we call the Justice League!
Jay: Besides, revealing our identities will only worsen you!
Stargirl: And threaten our families.
Amanda Waller: You know the consequences of your actions, JSA.
Spectre: Threaten us and you'll deal with me. And what I do is not going to be nice.
Amanda Waller: You wouldn't turn the President to dust. What would the public think?
Spectre: They'd say 'That was one hell of an impeachment'.
Hawkman: We're not helping you, and that's final. You can try, but the answer is No.
Power Girl shuts the door.
Power Girl (From inside): And never come back to us!
Waller walks down the street and turns down an alleyway. Colonel Flag was waiting beside a limo.
Rick Flag: How did it go?
Waller glared at him.
Rick Flag: Terrible.
Waller nodded.
Amanda Waller: Have you found Jericho's location?
Rick Flag: We're still working on it. But I have some bad news.
Amanda Waller: Oh shit, here we go.
Rick Flag: The senate is putting you on trial.
Amanda Waller: We need to find Ravager and Red Hood as quickly as possible and bring them before the senate.
Rick Flag: They request your presence immediately. I'll deal with them.
Amanda Waller: You better Flag. Because if I get kicked out of office, your ass is coming with me.
Flag gulps nervously.
Meanwhile:
Sportsmaster had finished tying up Jericho, who had regained consciousness.
Sportsmaster: I'd keep my mouth shut if I was you.
Jericho: (Muffled Sounds)
Sportsmaster: You were better as a mute. But maybe I could cut that tongue out.
Jericho shakes his head.
Sportsmaster: Then keep quiet.
Ravager and Red Hood walk over to him.
Red Hood: How is he?
Sportsmaster: Restrained. So, how was it with you two?
Artemis: We heard it was noisy.
Red Hood: I forgot about being quiet.
Sportsmaster: Did you think these walls were soundproof?
Red Hood: All that matters is, I got laid.
King Shark: Cut the chatter, let's blow this joint before the government catches up to us!
Gotham City- Meanwhile.
Waller's limo pulls up outside Wayne Manor. She gets out and knocks on the door; Alfred answers.
Alfred: May I help, Madam ex President?
Amanda Waller: Is Bruce home?
Alfred: No, he's taken his son to see a play. But unfortunately, you don't have a ticket to see the show.
Amanda Waller: Catwoman?
Alfred: Same as him. But I could be of service.
Waller opens a briefcase.
Amanda Waller: 20 million for those who capture these two.
She holds up two Mugshots of Ravager and Jason Todd.
Alfred: My services don't involve assassinations anymore; my services involve me slamming the door in your face.
Alfred then slammed the door in her face. Waller returns to the limo.
Colonel Rick Flag: I told you hiring superheroes wouldn't work.
Amanda Waller: We should ask an ex-member of the squad to hunt for them instead.
Colonel Rick Flag: Are any of them alive?
Amanda Waller: I believe Harley Quinn is.
Colonel Rick Flag: I heard rumours she's dead.
Amanda Waller: Well they were false.
The limo drives off.
Meanwhile: Ravager, Red Hood, the Crocks, Deadshot and King Shark were on the road again.
Sportsmaster: Who wants to sing a song?
Artemis: Can't we just listen to the radio instead Dad?
Red Hood: Actually, I would be interested in a singalong.
He clears his throat.
Red Hood: (Singing)
When there's trouble you know who to ca-
King Shark: No! No! Anything but that!
Sportsmaster: How about this one?
He clears his throat.
Sportsmaster: (Singing)
I saw you dance from the corner.
I caught your name, in a conversation-
Ravager: Let's not. I won't be able to hear my brother if he's trying to escape.
They look at Jericho, still tied up. Jericho tries to give them the middle finger but couldn't.
Deadshot: Should be something good on.
He turns on the radio, but quickly turns it off.
Deadshot: Sorry. Should've known the NSA could find us.
Ravager: Why don't we just get some quiet? It won't last long.
Ravager goes to sleep, leaning her head on Red Hood's shoulder.
Downtown Gotham City: Meanwhile. Waller's limo stops outside an apartment building, the top of it covered in foliage.
Amanda Waller: One more stop and then back to the Capitol.
Colonel Rick Flag: Good luck this time.
She walks up to the apartment door, and presses the button. The door opens, revealing a man in a wheelchair with a metal arm.
Sy Borgman: Oh shit, it's the President! And the worst one.
Amanda Waller: Harley Quinn, is she here? As you're her landlord, you'll know.
Sy Borgman: She is. She's gone to bite the Riddler's nose off.
Amanda Waller: I'm here to present her with her two next targets.
Sy Borgman: How about you give them here? I used to work for the US Government.
Amanda Waller: Take me to her room. I must speak to her personally.
Sy Borgman: I said she went to bite Riddler's nose off.
Harley Quinn: Which I completed.
Harley enters the foyer.
Harley Quinn: Tell Ivy I'm home.
Sy Borgman: Sure.
Amanda Waller: Harleen Quinzel.
Harley Quinn: Is that money? Thank you.
Harley snatched the briefcase filled with cash before Waller could say anything.
Sy Borgman: Don't tell me that was government money you had. The senate's gonna have a field day with you.
Amanda Waller: It was my last.
Harley Quinn: Oh lucky me.
Harley gets into the elevator, and takes it to the top floor.
Harley Quinn (Voice): Hey Ivy! The president stopped by and had this!
Poison Ivy (Voice): How much is in there?
Harley Quinn (Voice): 20 Million! You know what this means honey?
Poison Ivy (Voice): Don't tell me.
Harley Quinn (Voice): Shopping Spree!
Poison Ivy (Voice): And that means buying the most expensive item doesn't it?
Harley's girlish giggles are heard, and the two re-appear in the elevator, Harley pulling her wife by the arms out the door, passing Waller.
Poison Ivy: Excuse me bitch.
The couple leave.
Sy Borgman: They're just not interested in working for anyone anymore. Now, go home.
Amanda Waller: Bimbos.
She leaves.
Meanwhile:
The gang stop at Philadelphia outside a pub.
Sportsmaster: I could really go for a drink.
Artemis: Aren't you concerned the alcohol is dulling you in combat Dad?
Sportsmaster: Who the fuck cares? I'm thirsty.
Artemis: Just get some water.
Sportsmaster: Fine.
They enter the pub; the patrons turn their heads and look at the group. Even the jazz band stop playing their music. The bartender took notice of them.
Bartender: Guys, they're patrons. Stop staring at random patrons every time they enter. This isn't a goddamn saloon.
Artemis: Is anyone getting a Battle Wars vibe?
Red Hood: I am. Used to watch it with Bruce.
Bartender: What can I get you fine looking costumed fugitives?
Sportsmaster noticed Artemis looking at him.
Sportsmaster (Sighing): Water.
Bartender: Sorry but our water is dirty because our caretaker would rather kill rats!
Caretaker: Hey they are giant mice and they bother me.
Bartender: They are rats Charlie!
Charlie: Up yours Jack!
Charlie goes into the back room.
Jack: How about some whiskey instead?
Sportsmaster: Sure.
Red Hood: Some beer.
Ravager: Any soda?
Jack: Why soda, miss?
Ravager: Well, um, he and I, uh, connected the other night.
Charlie: Oh you mean you two had sex?
Jack: Charlie!
Red Hood: I'll kill him later.
He Sips his beverage.
Jack: Don't; just don't.
Artemis: So what's the plan?
Ravager: We go to Washington, and take care of her and Flag.
Sportsmaster: Sounds like the best impeachment ever.
Outside the pub:
Deadshot and King Shark were waiting.
King Shark: They have a fast food joint across the street, you want anything?
Deadshot: Maybe a double cheeseburger with everything.
King Shark: Could you order? I'm banned from every one of their services.
Deadshot enters the fast food joint while King Shark was watching Jericho.
King Shark: I'm sorry, did you want anything?
Jericho: (Muffled)
King Shark: Hey Deadshot, get him some fries!
Deadshot: They come with every meal!
King Shark: Aww, that's nice.
Washington DC- Meanwhile. Waller arrives at the Capitol building. All the staff glared at her as she walked past them.
Guard: Do you think she'll get it?
Guard 2: Probably.
Waller enters the Senate Chamber. The judge looked down upon Waller with displeasure.
Judge: President Waller, the leading house parties have had a discussion about your involvement with Task Force X, or as they like to call it, Suicide Squad.
Amanda Waller: I formed the team while I was still Warden at Belle Reve Penitentiary. Now they're redundant, they had to be eliminated your honour.
Judge: And why did you form the team without government jurisdiction?
Amanda Waller: The Pentagon gave me the go ahead.
Judge: But the Supreme Court should've been notified.
Waller didn't reply.
Judge: Why didn't you notify the Supreme Court?
Amanda Waller: Wasn't the Pentagon enough?
Judge: You were behind the operation, why didn't you notify the Supreme Court?
Amanda Waller: They didn't need to know.
Judge: They should've been notified Waller. Because of your squad, world leaders blamed us for your squad's terror attacks. Not to mention, you've expended government and military resources.
Amanda Waller: That was because I was crossed by Ravager and Red Hood.
Judge: Enough! You are to be impeached and locked up.
He slams the gavel; two police officers approach Waller and cuff her. They escort her out of the building.
Outside the building, a paparazzi are gathered, taking photographs of Waller in cuffs. The police march her to the car. Colonel Flag watches from a distance.
Amanda Waller: Remember Colonel, Ravager and Red Hood must be dealt with!
Colonel Rick Flag: Go fuck yourself, I'm not following you anymore.
Waller is placed in the car. She raises her middle finger at Flag, before the car drives off.
Philadelphia- Evening.
Ravager, Red Hood, Sportsmaster and Artemis are still at the pub, having dinner. Charlie exits the basement and sees the four.
Charlie: You're still here?
Ravager: Well, we're hungry, and tired of running from the government.
Something on the TV gets their attention.
Sportsmaster: Hey Jack! Turn it up!
Jack turns up the volume.
Newscaster: And in other news, ex-President Amanda Waller has been locked up after news about her secret organisation dubbed The Suicide Squad has been leaked thanks to hacker Bruce1975.
Sportsmaster: What a movie buff.
Newscaster: Waller is expected to be locked into Belle Reve with all the other prisoners she has locked up over the years.
Red Hood: Karma's a bitch.
Sportsmaster: Great.
Voice: Ha, she had it coming.
The gang turned around and saw a short man who appears to be in his mid to late 60's wearing glasses and drinking a beer.
Man: I knew something bad was gonna happen when she got on that podium.
Newscaster: It's confirmed that Senator Moretti of Jersey will be sworn in as president.
Man: Hack!
Jack: Hank, give it a rest.
Sportsmaster: Now that Waller's not in charge, how about we give her a little present?
Ravager: What about Flag? Why don't we deal with him first?
Artemis: I don't think he'll be working with her for longer.
Ravager: I can't forgive him for the hell he put me through.
Sportsmaster: Big whoop; you killed a few people.
Hank: I killed more than a few. Do rats count?
Jack: Rats are just petty vermin.
Sportsmaster burps and stands up.
Sportsmaster: Well, I think we've finished eating. Let's go.
Red Hood: We got a fucking colonel to kill.
Ravager takes out a 50 dollar note.
Ravager: Keep the change.
They leave.
Outside the bar:
Deadshot and King Shark were waiting at the vehicle.
King Shark: You took long.
Ravager: Waller's been removed from office.
King Shark: Finally.
Deadshot: You took your time in that bar.
Sportsmaster: Dinner and whatnot. Now, to Washington.
King Shark: Not exactly. I hacked into government security and I found out she's being held at Belle Reve.
Ravager: I'm going to take care of Flag. He's put me through enough Hell as it is.
Red Hood: Waller should be yours. She was the one who made Flag put you through all this. Leave Flag to me.
Ravager: Waller installed a bomb into both our necks.
Sportsmaster: And you'll get the revenge you deserve.
Ravager: Precisely.
Artemis: How about you leave someone to kill Flag?
Colonel Rick Flag: Because if you leave someone to kill Flag, you won't get the information you want.
They turned their heads. Colonel Flag was standing across the road from them, flanked by twelve armed soldiers.
Sportsmaster: Shit.
Colonel Rick Flag: Don't try to run or fight; my men will shoot.
Red Hood: What do you want Flag?
Colonel Rick Flag: You want to kill Waller?
Ravager: As much as you.
Colonel Rick Flag: Then you need access to Belle Reve. And fortunate for you, I have it.
Red Hood: You're no longer working for her?
Colonel Rick Flag: Not anymore.
Ravager: If we succeed, what's in it for us?
Colonel Rick Flag: All your names get cleared of any crimes you've committed.
King Shark: In every country? Because I'm sort of banned from Jamaica.
Artemis: What happened in Jamaica?
King Shark: I caused a beach to shut down.
Sportsmaster: What did you do? Eat a dog?
King Shark: No, it was a dog on a kid on a raft.
Colonel Rick Flag: You'll be pardoned for that too. Just get in and toast the bitch.
Sportsmaster: Yes sir.
The gang get back into the truck, Deadshot in the drivers seat. He starts the engine and the truck drives away.
Inside the truck, everyone was asleep except Ravager. She rubbed her stomach.
Ravager: (Whispering) Jason.
Red Hood wakes up.
Red Hood: Yeah?
Ravager: (Whispering) Something's not right in my stomach.
Red Hood: Could've been something you ate.
Sportsmaster: If she's pregnant, then the vomiting coming early could be a problem. I mean, the vomiting is supposed to come like a couple of weeks after conceiving.
Red Hood: Butt out.
Sportsmaster: Fine, I'll shut up for knowing stuff about pregnancies.
Red Hood: You created Artemis and Cheshire. That's all we need to know.
Sportsmaster: And because of that I had to know a few-
Red Hood: Butt out or someone will eat you.
Sportsmaster says no more.
King Shark: I know who you're referring to. And Ravager, if you wanna check.
King Shark throws Ravager a pregnancy test.
King Shark: You piss on it.
Ravager stares at him, a disgusted look on her face.
Sportsmaster: Hey Floyd, stop a moment. Rosie needs a piss!
Deadshot pulls over onto the side of the road. Sportsmaster unlocks the back and Ravager jumps out, and hides behind a bush.
Sportsmaster: Now we wait for 10 minutes
Artemis: Nervous Jason?
Red Hood: I didn't wear protection. She could kill me.
Sportsmaster: It's her old man you gotta be more cautious about. I heard he took 12 bullets to the chest and still killed 6 men who were robbing his house.
Ravager: I'm back.
She jumps back into the truck.
Red Hood: What's the result?
Sportsmaster: And can I crush this pipsqueak's head if it's positive?
Ravager takes a breath and looks at the test result.
Ravager: It's positive.
Jericho: (Muffled)
Red Hood: My reaction exactly Jeri. Fuck!
