12 Healing for the Heart
Thank you all so much for choosing my fic to read. Crazy to see people double my age are reading this. Fanfiction. Net is officially caught up with you guys. This chapter might be just under 1000 words but I'm giving it to you anyway because it's really just the end of this plot point.
(Don't want to bring politics into this but if you support MAGA and were in the capitol or are apart of any organisation that would have a problem with me being a young black pansexual woman, you can leave quietly now or the door will hit you on your way out)
Hope you enjoyed the Holidays!

(Kagome POV)
I sat up on my bed and stretched. I looked around my room before my eyes settled on the clock. It had been fifteen minutes since my head had first hit the pillow.
"Alright time to make lunch and have a chat with mum," I said standing up.
I walked down the stairs and followed the slight aroma in the air to the kitchen. Mum was standing in front of the cutting board chopping vegetables. She turned around when she heard me enter.
"Hey how are you feeling?" she asked coming over to give me another hug.
"I feel pretty great actually. The only other time I can think of that I felt this great was when I first discovered the portal to the Feudal Era, it was like finding a whole new world that was just for me," I explained hoping it would convince her that she didn't have to worry.
"Really? Well in that case can you please finish chopping these vegetables for me? That way I can just throw them in the pan when I need to cook a meal," Mum asked while passing me the knife knowing I would say yes.
"Mum I would like to talk to you about the reason I'm back so soon after my last visit," I said hoping she could help sort out my feelings about everything.
(Sango POV)
I sighed again as the glow from the well faded. It was moments like these that made me envy Kagome. She had a whole other world to retreat to when these- or rather THE idiot did something that royally pisses her off. She had a family to turn to when she needed support. If I had that I would never return to deal with InuYasha.
"Just goes to show that Kagome is a formidable woman. She doesn't owe any of us anything, she could stay with her family and leave us all to deal with the fall out of demons with Shikon shards, but she keeps coming back. She deals with the abuse and idiocy of InuYasha every time she comes here when doesn't have to. Well no more. After this latest stunt he pulled he has no right to speak to any of us. Screw not rocking the boat we've already been thrown overboard!" I hissed still seething from almost loosing my life.
Taking a deep calming breath, I stormed back to our hut in search of Miroku. His opinion is a going to be a crucial factor in this mess. The group is going to split up at this point there's no avoiding it. Shippo will go with Kagome or myself when it comes doing to choosing a side but Miroku may remain neutral. If he does, he's most likely going to go back to doing what he was before while I would go with Kagome. InuYasha would travel with the revived Kikyo. That leaves the Shikon Jewel. Kagome keeps it but when we split InuYasha will want it. Kagome's the smart choice. InuYasha might have more luck against tougher demons but he is greedy and hot headed to a fault. He would bow down to temptation.
"Sango you're back. No trouble getting to the Well and back I take it?"
I blinked and froze mid step. To my left was Miroku leaning in the doorway of a large hut. Children were running in and out chattering excitedly.
"No everything went well. May I speak with you for a moment?" I sighed.
Miroku nodded before turning back to the hut and waving to its occupants. The two of us walked side by side to the village market.
"The group is splitting up. I refuse to hold my tongue around the idiot any longer and Kagome will leave the next time he opens his mouth. Shippo will stay with either Kagome or myself and InuYasha will run off with Her. That leaves you. I assume you're going to go back to travelling and doing your… Buddhist duties?" I glanced at him as I finished.
Miroku smiled softly at a small child who called out his name then turned to me. Our eyes met and I wasn't surprised to see the slight helplessness about the Wind Tunnel and his determination to fix it, that was always on his mind. However, the rage burning underneath it was unexpected. I got the message loud and clear though.
"I thought so. But this creates a bit of a problem," I paused glancing around to make sure that no one was paying to much attention to us.
"The jewel. It sounds impossible but I forgot about it. Someone has to take the jewel shards that we have and as much as he will insist it can't be InuYasha,"
(Kagome POV)
"Of course, dear," mum replied as she continued around the kitchen.
"I'll start from the very beginning. So, I fell through the well and long story short met InuYasha and broke the Shikon Jewel into a thousand shards. I discovered a few things that made me realize that it was my responsibility to put the Jewel back together. InuYasha in case you don't remember is the guy with the adorable ears on his head. I… I fancied him up until the last time I was here," I paused to take a sip of water from the fridge.
"InuYasha in general is a very rude and arrogant person. The whole bad boy stereotype fits him like second skin. At first, he wasn't that bad. Okay that's a lie. When he found out I had the ability to sense the shards he was as rude to me as a would be to any other human with a side of caution in case I ended up being a powerful being. At some point he figured out I had feelings for him, and we got closer. But then the woman he was in love with before was brought back to life," I stopped when mum opened her mouth.
"Brought back to life?"
"Yes. A sorceress wanted Kikyo for something and she needed Kikyo's soul to bring her back. But her soul had already been reincarnated in the future and was still in use. I am her reincarnation. Long story short the ritual wasn't completed and now Kikyo has a part of my- our soul but it's not enough to stay alive so she steals others to maintain her body of clay. InuYasha whenever he was presented with a life or death choice between the two of us would always hesitate and go after Kikyo. It hurt me that he had to think about his choice. At this point he realized that no matter how disgusting he acted towards me I would always come back so he could choose Kikyo and still have his shard finder. He was rude to everyone on the team and he knew he could get away with it. Until a couple of days ago when I saw the two of them at the well. They had never been intimate where I could see them before. That's when I realized just how little he respected me as a person. So, I started to fight back.
"Then a yesterday he almost killed all of the others in the group. We were in the middle of a battle to get three shards from a herd of demons when he appeared and fired off a very deadly attack in the direct of my teammates who here battling the demons. He had disappeared earlier with Kikyo, so we had remade the plan to exclude him. If it wasn't for his brother having been there by coincidence they would have died. I ripped him a new one with the help of Sango after the incident and this morning. I just feel so stupid for not seeing where my little crush would lead to. I- I just feel so confused! What am I supposed to do?" I finished.
My mum came over and gave me a tight hug. I wrapped my arms around her as she pats my back. I cried for what felt like the first time in forever as I realized how much of my time was devoted to InuYasha.
FLASHBACKS
"Hey this is a nice fabric. It's so soft and this the most beautiful purple I've ever scene… What do you think InuYasha?" I turned to show him the clothe.
He started at it then shrugged his shoulders.
"It's nice, reminds me of the Shikon Jewel."
"Tighten your grip Kagome. I don't want you to fall," the half demon said.
I gripped him harder and borrowed into his back as his grip on my thighs tightened.
My eyes fluttered trying to stay open but wouldn't go higher than half mast. InuYasha huffed and smirked at me from the other side of the fire.
"Sleep Kagome. I'll take first watch tonight."
I nodded before laying down. The last thing I saw before I was lost to the world was InuYasha's golden eyes staring back at me.
"But InuYasha-!"
"Listen here wench! I don't care what you think! I don't want that wolf-cub joining us and that's final!"
"InuYasha Sit Boy!"
"What's your problem!? All I did was spend the day with Rin! We didn't even leave the village!"
"My problem is that you're helping Sesshomaru! After everything he's done to us!"
"You! After everything he's done to you! Besides I didn't do it for him! I did it because I was bored! You said I couldn't leave he village, so I found something to do to distract myself!"
"Then you should have come with me so we could hunt for the Shikon shards!"
"You went after Kikyo! You know what forget it. I'm sorry I upset you."
"Hey! Where are you going?"
"Sango should be back by now. We'll do some boring girl stuff."
"Tch! Stupid wench."
FLASHBACKS END
It took a while before my sobbing became sniffles. My mum continued to rub my back as I calmed down. After a moment she pulled back.
"Better?"
I nodded as I wiped my eyes in my shirt.
"Kagome… Please do not beat yourself up about this. You're a teenager it's naturel to have crushes on people especially those of the bad boy variety. InuYasha is a very nice-looking young man but he's also a half-demon. Every girl dreams of having their own feudal fairy tale with a sexy demon who has their wicked way with them. You were lucky enough to meet one"
"Mom!"
"What? It's true!"
I laughed at the look on my mom's face.
"Anyway remember you started this journey because you felt it was your responsibility to collect the shards after you broke the jewel. You owe nothing to InuYasha. You don't have to work with him if it's not working anymore. Okay?"
I nodded before giving her another hug. We smiled at each other before going back to preparing lunch in silence.
Sorry for the wait. I was going to post this in December, but school said projects, projects and more projects. So I decided let me wait till the semester is over. I think I pulled my science grade up to a 70 or something.
Any way from now on I'm aiming to make chapters 2000 words long instead of 1000. Chapter 13 is going to be long as fuck.
Isn't Kagome's mom just the best? What do you think is going to happen next chapter? What are Naraku and Kaage up to? Is the group going to split up? Has Kikyo already gathered the things for her ritual?

OnceUponABlueMoonDream: I always got the feeling that Sango filtered herself when talking to InuYasha because of Kagome's feelings. So I decided that for this she was content to stay neutral *cough* silently on Kagome's side *cough* and stay out of it. But when Kagome stopped being a doormat and with the way he put them all in danger she had a real reason to verbally beat his ass. I also think that Kagome used the whole Sit Boy thing a bit too much especially when she comes from a time were/when physical defence is usually taught (and encouraged) to girls her age. As for Kaage the mysterious unknown… let's just say I plan on taking you guys on a wild ride.
