Calire's mouth dropped in shock. What did he just say? How- how would Douxie be- Mordred!? True, Douxie was about 919, but still! Mordred!? She shook her head in disbelief as Skye and Douxie stared at each other, their expressions hard to read from this distance.
" Wh- what?" Skye stammered, her eyes wide.
She must know who Mordred is too,
Claire realized.
Mordred was King Arthur's nephew who tried to kill him for the throne. Although he failed, Mordred had simply vanished from history- along with any mentions of him. The only reason Claire knew who he was, is because Blinky has a book about him in his library.
Douxie ( or Mordred?) took a step towards Skye, his hands lit with fire. " But- all that time I thought- I thought you loved me!" Skye cried, Toby gasped and looked around- as though he just realized this.
Douxie laughed, a mean, dark laugh.
" I for one never loved you." He opened his mouth to keep talking, but someone beat him to it.
" No- but I did."
Jim turned his head to see a figure draped in shadows on the far side of the room, next to a small tunnel he hadn't seen before. They were leaning on the wall, one arm hung limply at their side.
" What?" Mordred growled, squinting at the shadowed figure. Skye, Claire, and Toby had their eyes locked over there too, as did Gunmar and Dictatious. Ohh- how Jim hated Gunmar. Why did he have to come back to life!? It was hard to beat him the first time- and Jim had been half-troll then!
" How did he-?" Gunmar turned to Dictatious, who looked horrified. " I have no idea, my Dark Underlord. He was in our most secure cell- and he had the best guards on him!"
The figure shifted, and a small part of their shoe slipped into light. The tip was black, and that was all that Jim could discern.
Mordred turned back to Skye. " No one in their right mind would even like you!" He spat, making the Second Trollhunter wince. Jim was honestly surprised that it had worked, his amulet with her. He didn't expect it to, but it did.
" You're wrong, Mordred." The voice said, and Claire gasped. She was closer to the figure than Jim, so he figured she could see him better. Who was in the dark?
" Wh- wait." Mordred's eyes filled with shock.
" Hello brother." The figure stepped out of the shadow.
Toby nearly fainted when he saw who had been hiding by that tunnel. Douxie. Or was it Mordred? Stuff was getting pretty confusing for Toby. And now he was extra confused.
First off, brothers!? How-? This was insane. Toby almost wished Eli and Steve were here, and he definitely wished his Wingman was with him. And second? Who had sent them here? Doux, or Mord?
Toby realized that the nickname didn't really work. So, he decided that Mordred didn't get a nickname. Douxie ( or whoever it was) stepped a bit farther into the light, his black hair wet, as though he had been swimming. Blood dripped down his face and arms, and a small puddle was forming at his feet.
" You!" Mordred shrieked. Skye was looking frantically between the two, and then jumped as Mordred snapped his fingers. A cloud of dark blue smoke surrounded him, and then dissipated.
Stood in its place was no longer someone that looked like Doux, but someone with ragged brown hair and green eyes. He was wearing the same clothes, and the armband on his forearm remained.
But- isn't that Doux's?
Sure enough, Douxie was missing his. He glowered at Mordred, who glared right back, Skye seemingly forgotten. The Second Trollhunter realized this, as she began to slowly back away from them, to the opposite side of the room from Toby.
Flashing out an arm so fast Toby almost missed it, a blue tentacle shot out and grabbed Skye's arm, yanking her back and into Mordred's arms. " Let me go!" She yelped, grasping at his arms that were now around her throat.
" I believe you have something of mine," Douxie hissed, his voice just only reaching Toby's ears.
" Then come get it."
