Monday came along after the weekend was over. It was morning and both Eda, Luz, King, Hooty and Maxwell were in the kitchen. They all got through eating breakfast as both Luz and Maxwell were talking to Willow and Gus through the crystal ball. Everyone but Maxwell has done this before which Maxwell was intrigued by how communicating with others via crystal was interesting to him as it was different from talking to people on a phone.

It looked like Maxwell was telling them a story about faith from the looks and sounds of it as they listened to him and the story he told them. Both Willow and Gus were intrigued by what Maxwell was telling them.

"So a small human child defeated the giant with just a sling shot and some small, smooth stones? And their enemies ran off defeated while the young human male saved his people from a great danger because he had faith in an almighty being you mentioned?" said Gus looking entertained.

"That he did. David was the smallest out of his people, smallest out of his brothers yet their king Saul thought that Goliath was too big to fight but David thought he was too big to miss and both David, his faith and trust in the lord took down the blasphemous Goliath, saving his people and sending their enemies running terrified. And all David had was a sling shot, a small stone, his trust and faith in the lord." Maxwell spoke telling them a bible story that was about God.

"So there's a lot of stories about this one you said is known as the lord, right?" asked King curiously.

"That there is. But with every challenge that people face in life, every challenge may seem big, but the lord is bigger than any challenge." replied Maxwell.

"Sounds like this lord has helped a lot of people." said Willow with a grin.

"He even helped me." said Maxwell feeling proud.

"How?" asked Willow and Gus in unison.

"I think he lead me here to the Boiling Isles to all of you and away from my dad's wrath." answered Maxwell.

They all went silent and were surprised but otherwise knew he was right.

"True." they all said in unison.

"Forgive me for changing the subject but does anyone smell something that smells like cheese fondue?" King kindly asked.

"You're smelling this, shorty." chuckled Eda.

Luz, King and Maxwell smelled the air in the kitchen and they smelled what Eda was cooking. She was preparing something in a pot that was being cooked on the stove. Maxwell could definitely smell it was his sense of smell had been enhanced.

"Cheddar cheese fondue, smells good." Maxwell guessed.

Eda was wide eyed at this as if Maxwell guessed the truth.

"That's actually what this is. Can you smell it from there?" asked Eda surprised.

"Yes, but I did see that you added cheese to that but I didn't know what sort of cheese it was at first till I smelled it." answered Maxwell.

"You sure you didn't read her mind?" joked Gus.

Maxwell shook his head with an emotionless expression.

"What goes on in Eda's mind is none of my business, I mean none of our business. If it's personal to a woman, than it's none of our business but the lady herself." said Maxwell politely.

Eda smirked and looked up playfully. Good old Maxwell, Eda knew that Maxwell's gentlemen aspects had to be immortal as his feelings for her appear to be. King was blushing and grinning as he chuckled.

"Maxie waxie's a lady's man." teased King laughing. "They're all going to come give you a kissy kiissy moo moo."

Maxwell blushed and went silent as Eda felt like a motherly instinct struck her a bit.

"King, no teasing him or just imagine having me as your rebellious, sassy, mischievous room mate and wondering if she shaves you of your fur, while you're asleep?" said Eda sarcastically joking.

King shot a shocked expression at Eda and stopped laughing.

"I'd rather be tickle tortured until I say something silly." King said blushing with annoyance.

"A hairless rat or someone to tickle torture for an hour. Both choices are so tempting." laughed Eda.

"Looks like the room mates are having a good time and they're just loving it, aren't they?" said Gus sarcastically.

"Yes, that's what we're intending." said Eda and King with a hint of sarcasm.

Eda and King were poking jokes at one another but Maxwell seemed like he tried not to laugh.

"Midget cricket." shot Eda.

"Tall giraffe lady." shot King.

Maxwell couldn't hold back and he fell out of his seat and burst out laughing at Eda and King's jokes and playful banter.

"Forgive me, I'm trying not to laugh but you two are so funny when you're like that. You two are liked a comedy duo." laughed Maxwell loudly.

Eda and King didn't expect this but they blushed and grinned while chuckling at the sight.

"Hey look, Eda. At least we got him to laugh." King noticed.

"I'm not trying to laugh at you guys, it's just you two are so funny sometimes. I don't mean to laugh." laughed Maxwell trying to calm himself as he tried not to be rude.

"It's cool, kiddo. Sometimes me and King are like that towards each other. Although King, can you agree to stop teasing Maxie?" Eda reassured while kindly warning King.

"Okay, I'll show some mercy." said King showing restraint.

Maxwell felt better knowing he didn't hurt anyone from laughing at their playful banter they showed. Maxwell got up on his feet and calmed himself as he stopped laughing. Suddenly, they heard a buzzing noise that sounded like an alarm clock going off. Luz, King and Maxwell saw the crystal ball was glowing a red color and showed the time was eight in the morning flashing in white over and over.

"School time! See you guys in class! Maxie, ready to take on the day?" said Luz with a grin.

"Ready as I'll ever be." answered Maxwell.

"See you guys later!" said Willow and Gus.

Maxwell touched the crystal ball and the red light turned to white and the images of Willow and Gus disappeared. Luz and Maxwell were about to leave but they hugged King before they did.

"Before you go Maxie, looky looky!" said King playfully.

Maxwell looked at King as the little male canine demon crossed his eyes and flopped out his huge purple tongue and made silly noises while he shook his head wildly around in an attempt to make him laugh, and it worked. Maxwell was laughing as King eventually stopped as they waved good bye to each other for the day. The two teenagers walked out the door and closed it, off to school. King could hear Maxwell singing in the Hawaiian language which sounded so beautiful before they were at a distance away that his singing couldn't be heard.

King jumped from the table to the seat one of the kids sat in and jumped on the floor. He scrambled his way towards the door as he wagged his tail excitedly.

"You...you really think they're coming back this time? What if someone bullies our Maxie and hurts him, or if they do the same to sweet, innocent Luz?" said King feeling worried.

"Yes, they'll be back; they always comes back." said Eda annoyed.

As Eda tended to the cheese fondue while she turned the stove off to let the pot cool, her annoyance turned to playful teasing.

"It's cute you miss them, though. Big brother doesn't want anyone hurting his siblings." teased Eda.

King showed his annoyance but on the inside, he was in denial about what how he really feels about Luz and Maxwell.

"The King of Demons misses nobody! I'm not some big brother who worries about the possibility of them getting hurt, bullied or if someone makes them cry that I'd rip those bullies limb from limb!" said King in denial. "I wouldn't care if they came through this door right now!"

The door suddenly opened and King jumped out of the way of the door from a distance. It was like his words jinxed the situation as both Luz and Maxwell walked right into the room. Both the two kids showed a bewildered expression. Both Eda and King turned to see they were back already.

"Back already?" said Eda looking confused.

"You're back!" said King happily.

King ran towards Maxwell and climbed up his body till he reached the top of Maxwell's head.

"I didn't worry about you two kooky kids like a worried dad." lied King. "Oh wow! Maxie, all that hair of yours is so thick, so soft, silky, smooth. It feels like a bed up here."

"We got some unexpected news." said Maxwell.

"Did that dweebus factory have another pixie infestation and canceled school for today?" asked Eda guessing the truth.

"How did you find that out?" asked Maxwell surprised.

"It's happened before, believe it or not." answered Eda.

"Well, you did say that weird and confusing is the normality of the Boiling Isles, right?" said Maxwell remembering what she said.

Eda smiled.

"I love it when he listens to me." said Eda proudly.

"Hate to interrupt but you got a mail call." came Hooty's voice.

Hooty stretched his body into the kitchen and he was gagging as it looked like he was about to regurgitate something he ate but they saw this was a bit hard to see. Hooty coughed out a few letters or more and gagged out a large box from his mouth as it looked like Hooty was used like a mailbox.

"Could've been worse." said Luz feeling optimistic.

Eda bent down to grab the mail letters as she looked through them.

"Junk, junk, oh my, a picture of someone's butt!" said Eda panicking.

"What?" they all said shocked.

Eda smiled and let out a laugh.

"Gotcha! It's just a hex that only activates once you open it." said Eda showing mercy.

Eda tossed the one letter into the nearby garbage and it the garbage can disappeared into a puff of purple smoke.

"You prankster, you." chuckled Maxwell.

"There for I am." laughed Eda.

Eda smiled as she saw another letter that turned out to be a flyer that was folded. When she unfolded it, she saw what it was.

"Oh, looky here. A carnival's in town today! Just like last time." said Eda showing them the flyer.

Luz and King both smiled from excitement to this like Eda did, the only one who was having the opposite reaction was Maxwell. He felt like he wanted to be excited but something was holding that emotion back.

"An actual carnival?" said Maxwell nearly stunned.

"Definitely! You ever been to one?" asked Luz excited.

Maxwell didn't answer as he blushed and had a nervous expression upon on his face. They instantly got their answer.

"You never been to one? But isn't a carnival a southerner thing? Forgive me if that sounds kind of racist." said King trying not to offend.

Maxwell shook his head and blushed as if feeling ashamed and embarrassed to admit this.

"Your dad never let you go to one?" said Luz looking a bit guilty.

"My dad told me that carnivals were a waste of time. But when ever one came into town, I really wanted to go but he wouldn't let me." Maxwell confessed sadly.

They felt sorry for him when they learned this sad little aspect of Maxwell's past. Eda turned the stove off and pulled her staff out of it, shook the melted cheese off it and held it in her hand.

"Did you just use your staff to stir the pot, literally?" said Maxwell.

"Yes, but it's stronger like a lion." said Eda pretending not to notice.

"Maxie, we've all been so busy with, a lot of things. Eda, we could use a day of fun, besides, this could be Maxie's first carnival." said Luz getting an idea.

"Sounds like a good idea. Maxie, you're going to your first carnival and your daddy can't say or do anything about it. What your daddy says means nothing, you're with us now and even though I'm responsible for all of you and all of you are under my protection, we should have some fun from time to time." said Eda showing excitement.

Eda came over to Maxwell and pulled him in an embrace that it was injecting a little bit of interest and excitement into Maxwell.

"Maxie's first carnival is going to be a blast. And his mean old daddy can't say or do anything to stop him. You hear me Mr. Logan, your own son is having fun and you can't stop him! Sling! Bang! Boom!" Eda called out as if defending Maxwell's rights to have fun and be able to do what he wants to do.

Eda was so excited that she pulled Maxwell in for a kiss, he felt that the kiss has convinced him to take part in the adventure they'd be on.

"Tiempo de fiesta!" exclaimed Maxwell. "Party time, ladies!"

"I agree! I'll pack my stuff." said Hooty.

"We're off!" cried Eda.

As Eda, Luz, King and Maxwell took off out the door, it wasn't long till Hooty was coming in the room wearing Hawaiian clothing but got distracted by a huge bug that widened his appetite.

Eda took hold of Maxwell's hand and Maxwell took hold of her hand as Maxwell felt his romantic feelings and excitement stirring as Eda winked and smiled at him, causing him to blush and smile as they took off and looked forwards.

"I love it when she leads me." Maxwell thought to himself.
