Dracumo Tribe (Night of day 26)
With Toothless getting voted out though an unexpected blind side, the remaining 8 contestants get back to camp to reflect on what just happened. Heather and Dagur went off to hug each other, grateful that they had made it this far.
Belch, the one who flipped his vote and got Toothless out, speaks up and says, "Listen, guys, I did what I had to do. You guys were gonna go for Barf with the split vote and I wasn't going to allow it to happen."
Hiccup replies, "Then why didn't you say anything when we were all together? If you wanted to change the vote then we could've done something about it?"
Astrid adds, "Yeah, would you rather we just put the votes on you?"
Belch shakes his head. "It's not that, it's just that Barf is my closest ally, you all know that. I had to protect her. Besides, Dagur did have the idol so it was going to be one of us anyway."
Hookfang replies, "You know, if it was us actually trying to blind side Barf and get her out, it's one thing, but she literally said today that she was fine if we put votes on her."
Barf adds, "Not to sound ungrateful for saving me but I did say I was ready to go."
Belch replies, "I know you did and to me it sounded like you were giving up. Look, I'm sorry for what I did, but there's nothing I can do about it."
Hiccup held his head in his hands trying to cope with the loss of his best friend while Hookfang sighs and says, "Well, at least one good thing came from this. Ruff and Barf are now the last full human/dragon duo left in the game."
"True." Astrid replies. "I honestly thought that prize would be going to Hiccup and Toothless but I guess that's shot."
Ruffnut asks, "You don't think that could put a target on our backs from Heather do you?"
Hookfang shrugs. "People have had targets for smaller reasons. Wouldn't surprise me if she or someone tried to separate you two."
After a little bit more talking, the 8 contestants head to bed.
Dracumo Tribe (Day 27)
The contestants had another free day, which was perfect because most of the Berkians didn't feel much like doing a challenge of any sort.
Hiccup, Astrid and Hookfang were doing some fishing when Astrid swims up to the boat and asks, "So, what are we going to do now?"
Hookfang replies, "If it was completely up to me, I'd switch gears and gun for Belch. The little sneak already took out the guy who was providing for us."
Hiccup nods. "Sounds good to me, question is, would we be able to convince Barf or Ruffnut to vote for him?"
Astrid shakes her head. "No way. After what Belch did for Barf last night, she basically owes her life to him."
Hookfang nods before suggesting, "Well, there is someone we could talk to." Hiccup and Astrid look to each other with concern as they knew exactly who he was talking about.
(Hookfang confession) "The way I see it is that there's now three sides to the tribe. We have the power alliance with myself, Hiccup and Astrid, we have the Berserkers being Heather and Dagur, and then there's the underlings of Ruff, Barf and Belch. If those three really are going to be voting together, separately from the power alliance, then maybe we need to put them back into their places.
Hookfang swims back to shore and spots Dagur sharpening the machete. "Hey Dags, you alone?"
Dagur looks up before looking back down to the long knife and asking, "What do you want, Hookfang?"
Hookfang replies, "Look, you saw what went down last night and, well, I think Belch could easily have Ruff and Barf vote with him."
Dagur replies, "So, what does that mean for myself and Heather?"
Hookfang replies, "I know Heather has been against us from the start, but the fact is that right now, there's an even bigger target that's been under our noses the whole time and his name starts with a B and rhymes with squelch."
Dagur puts down the rock he was sharpening the machete with to sigh. "The thing is…I know it. Back at the Humo Tribe, I saw first-hand how dangerous he can be."
Hookfang raises a brow. "You talking the Snotlout vote?"
Dagur nods. "I first thought that Barf and Belch were just following along with what Gustav was saying but now, I don't know. I think that maybe he has the potential to do more damage than Heather or Astrid ever could. *sigh*"
Hookfang nods. "Well, just give it some thought ok?" With that, Hookfang walks off.
(Dagur confession) "Honestly, Belch, I could probably handle in a head to head situation, but what I'm more worried about is Heather. Heather would flip her lid if she found out that I'm working with the power alliance again. Maybe if I just talk to her, see if I can get some sense of what she could do."
So, he goes to find Heather who was collecting firewood. Dagur walks up to Heather and says, "Ok, I just want you to hear me out, here. What if, at the next Tribal Council, we go for Belch?"
Heather raises a brow to that. "Belch? Why?"
Dagur replies, "You saw how quickly he was willing to turn on Astrid's alliance, who's to say that he could just try to get the rest of us out and put himself, Barf and Ruff in the final 3?"
Heather sputters, "H-he couldn't, right? I mean…well…"
Dagur replies, "I know Astrid and Hiccup have been on your hit list since the start, but lately she's not been nearly as much of a threat. If we want any shot at making the final 6 on then I think our best bet is to get rid of Belch before he gets rid of one of us."
Heather looked somewhat bewildered. (Heather confession) "It's weird, this whole time my main targets were Astrid, Hiccup, Toothless and all of those strong guys, but…I don't know. Maybe Belch was the threat I was fearing all along, maybe Belch should be voted out now and then I can go for Astrid again later. I-I just don't know."
Heather just replies with, "I'll think about it." before nearly sprinting away.
Meanwhile, Belch, Barf and Ruffnut were talking in a group once again. Belch spoke up by saying, "Ok, I can protect you two, but I need you to trust me."
Ruffnut nods. "What do you think needs to happen?"
Belch replies, "I think that if we can work hard enough then we can have the three of us in the final 3. Voting out Toothless was just the start for me, I now want to go all the way with us 3."
Barf nods then asks, "So, who are we going for?"
Belch replies, "Well, if you want my honest opinion, it should be Hookfang. I mean, think about us that are still here. As far as making moves, planning votes, winning challenges, Hookfang has kind of just been riding the coat tails of Hiccup and Astrid since the swap and what, does he expect to just ride along, get to the final 3 then just hope for the votes?"
Ruffnut nods before replying, "Well, on that note, Hiccup has been kind of riding along as well."
Belch shakes his head. "Well, think of it this way, if you made it to the final 3, who would you be more scared of sitting next to? Hiccup or Hookfang?"
Barf shrugs. "Hookfang does have that somewhat intimidating look to him, but he couldn't intimidate the jury into voting for him, could he?"
Belch replies, "Is that any better or worse than whatever Hiccup has?"
Barf and Ruffnut think for a moment before Barf replies, "Well…maybe you do have a point. Ok, so we go for Hookfang tomorrow night?"
Belch nods. "I knew I could count on you guys."
Immunity Challenge (Day 28)
With another message from Jeff, the final 8 contestants head off for their next immunity challenge. The challenge is set up on a beach and consists of 8 25 foot tall poles with buckets on top of them plus 8 stations for puzzles sitting on the sand.
Once the contestants had entered, Jeff takes the immunity necklace back from Heather and says, "Once again, immunity is back up for grabs. For today's challenge, you're going to stand on top of a very tall pole and collect water from the sea that they'll dump into the scales just below them. Once the scales are full and their flags raise, you'll then jump into the water and swim over to solve a geometric puzzle.
First person to finish, wins immunity, is safe from the vote and is guaranteed a one in 7 shot at winning this game. In addition, today we are playing for reward. Want to know what you're playing for?" They all give a pleased yes. "The winner of today's challenge will enjoy a pizza party back at camp. Pizza, salad, garlic bread, root beer. It's going to be amazing. We'll draw for spots, and we'll get started."
So once again, the contestants draw colored rocks to determine their challenge station and are set up in the following order from left to right: Ruffnut, Heather, Hiccup, Astrid, Hookfang, Belch, Dagur, Barf. Once they were all set up on their poles, the challenge begun.
Each of them began by tossing their buckets which were attached to long strings into the water. Once in, they would use the strings to reel in the buckets, hoping to go fast enough so they can dump the buckets quickly, but not so quickly they end up losing too much water.
Dagur, Belch and Astrid took a quicker approach and really pulled their buckets up. They both ended up losing a bit of water, but they figured everyone would need to toss their buckets back in anyway. The rest took a more steady approach, being careful not to spill too much.
Dagur ends up getting his bucket to the top of his black post first, so he dumps the water, seeing about a quarter of what he collected actually going into the scale, so he had to throw it back in. Belch and Astrid came up just behind him and while Belch just dumped his bucket right away, Astrid was a little more cautious with pouring and ended up getting a little bit more water into the scale before throwing her bucket back in.
Hiccup and Barf, the quicker of the slow and steady group, got their buckets up and dumped, taking a similar dumping approach to Astrid. However, the wind was not on their side at that moment and they ended up only getting about 30% of the water they initially collected in their scales.
Hookfang, Heather and Ruffnut were the last to get their buckets up to the top of their poles, but the wind had died down a little and they were able to get a little bit more water in than Hiccup or Barf.
Now everyone was on their second attempts to get water with Dagur trying the slower approach that allowed Astrid and Belch to catch up a little and get their buckets to the top first. Both Astrid and Belch dump their buckets, but find that it just wasn't enough to raise their flags so they had to go again.
Dagur got his second bucket up just as Astrid and Belch had dumped theirs, but he too tried the slower dumping approach and it paid off as he got much more water into his scale, but not enough to raise the flag, so he went in for the third attempt.
Heather picked up the pace a little and caught up to Hiccup and Barf and all 3 of them got their buckets up to the top at the same time. Given the fact that the wind was almost not there by that point, Hiccup and Barf had much better luck with dumping their buckets while Heather was too quick with pouring and ended up getting half as much in as Hiccup or Barf.
Hookfang and Ruffnut, who were straggling in the back of the pack but didn't give up at that point, got their own buckets to the top of their respective green and blue poles and while Ruffnut got a decent amount of water into her scale, Hookfang got nearly a whole bucket's worth of water in his and that proved to be enough as his flag was raised.
Now Hookfang had bounced to the front of the pack as he jumps off of his pole and lands feet first into the water where he swims over to the puzzle station and began working on his puzzle. The puzzle was set up with various pieces of various sizes and shapes that would come together to form the shape of a flame.
The others could see that Hookfang was ahead, but never gave up hope as Dagur, Astrid and Belch got their respective black, red and yellow buckets to the top of their poles where they dumped them and ended up raising their flags, so they jumped off their poles and ran over to join Hookfang at the puzzle station.
Hiccup, Barf, Heather and Ruffnut were still working to get their third filled buckets to the top of their poles, but they were still determined to at least finish that portion of the challenge.
The four puzzle goers moved the pieces they had around to try to make sense of them and figure out where they needed to go. Dagur wasn't the best at puzzles, but he knew he needed this win more than most here. Astrid was smart, so she was confident in her puzzle abilities. Belch had been on a small hot streak for challenges so he too was confident, and Hookfang had yet to win a challenge so he was hoping he could at least have that under his belt.
Just as the four were starting to concentrate, Heather had managed to fill up her scale with water, so she jumps in and rushes to the puzzle table, hoping to make up for the lost time.
Hookfang had a good start with some of the pieces, so he did his best to keep that momentum going. Belch had several failed attempts at putting some of the pieces there, so he had to stand back and figure out just what to do.
Astrid and Dagur also had a good start to the puzzle, but Dagur too got somewhat stumped at one point while Astrid kept on trucking.
Hiccup, Barf and Ruffnut get their buckets to the top of their poles and do dump their water, but unfortunately it still wasn't enough and at that point, hope was somewhat dwindling for all 3 of them.
In the end, as a little first for the season, Hookfang got his head together and got the pieces together to form the flame shape, so he calls over Jeff and Jeff checks it. "Hookfang wins immunity and pizza! Hookfang is completely safe tonight."
Astrid kicks the sand a little as she was just seconds away from finishing herself, but did feel proud of Hookfang. Belch got disappointed because Hookfang was the one he was planning to vote for that night, so now he needed a new strategy.
Once those on the poles got down, Jeff gives the immunity necklace to Hookfang and says to him, "Alright, Hookfang, you are allowed to bring one person with you on this reward. Who's it going to be?"
Hookfang replies, "Jeff, even though I did literally try to kill this guy when I first met him, I do think he deserves a little something. Hiccup, come over here." Hiccup nods and walks over.
Jeff then says, "Ok. You may now chose one more person to take with you."
Hookfang didn't need much time to think about it. "My next choice is Astrid. We've been close since the Merge and I think she needs this." Jeff nods and Astrid walks over to hug Hookfang.
Jeff then says, "Alright, you can take one last person with you on this pizza reward."
Hookfang looks to the remaining 5 and replies, "You know what? I owe it to this person for trying to get rid of her the other night. I pick Barf." Barf smiles and runs over to join the rest.
Jeff says to the rest. "Ok. Heather, Dagur, Ruffnut, Belch, got nothing for ya. Grab your things, I'll see you tonight at Tribal Council." With that, the 8 of them head back to camp.
Dracumo Tribe (Day 28)
On the back of the challenge, Hookfang, Hiccup, Astrid and Barf are greeted with their pizza reward which was waiting for them on a picnic table set up just outside of camp. They all sit down and begin eating, thanking three of which thanked Hookfang for allowing them to come on this reward.
(Hookfang reward) "So, I won the challenge, that's pretty exciting I'm not going to lie. I also won a reward and chose Hiccup, Astrid and Barf to come with me. Hiccup and Astrid are my closest allies so it was a no brainer to take them and Barf, well, I guess I wanted to make sure that it wasn't just Belch that was hoping to help her out in this game."
As they were eating, Hookfang says to Barf, "So, Barf, no hard feelings right?"
Barf shakes her head. "Not at all. I mean, I did say that I was willing to give up my game but I guess that just ticked Belch the wrong way."
Hiccup picks up a slice and says, "I'll just say this to Belch, if you want to save your ally, fine, but don't be an idiot about it and flip your vote."
Barf nods then asks, "So, is Belch your target now or what's going on?"
Hookfang replies, "So, we know how close you two are, I mean in our normal lives you two literally share a body, but fact is that Belch is playing a dangerous game, one that could end up costing the games of everyone at this table, minus your own. All we're going to say is that tonight, we're just going to do what's best for our personal games."
As Hookfang was talking, Astrid got a little weary.
(Astrid confession) "I don't know if it's a good idea to tell Barf that we're voting for Belch. With how close those two are, she'd likely tell him about it soon as she gets a chance."
Barf just nods to what Hookfang had said and replied. "I see." She opens a pizza box to grab another slice when she notices some markings under the lid of the box. The green haired girl grabs her slice before the others had a chance at noticing and acts like she saw nothing.
(Barf confession) "Ok, now I'm really glad I got to go on this reward. There seems to be a clue to something under the lid of one of these pizza boxes, problem is that there's also 3 people here that I'm not sure if I can trust as well.
Barf knew she needed a way to get the other three away so she could look in the box and fortunately, the three declared that they were done eating so they went back into camp, but Barf stayed behind claiming that she wasn't quite done.
Barf quickly opens that box back up and it showed a map of the camp with an X located at the water well. There was also some writing that read, 'water the planks, and an idol will be revealed.'
She nods before closing the lid and standing and grabbing her water bottle from camp before walking to the water well.
(Barf confession) "The clue said, 'water the planks, and an idol will be revealed.' I get to the water well and I see planks of wood sitting around the base of the well, so I pour some of the water in my water bottle onto the planks."
She does this on most of the larger planks she could find, until, on the plank facing to the ocean, there showed a Dragon face tribe symbol. She quickly digs around in there until she finds the idol wrapped in a brown bag.
The idol itself looked just like a red version of the original Draco Tribe idol in that it was a dragon face attached to a string.
(Barf confession) "I cannot believe I found this idol. I didn't think I would be able to find an idol period."
She goes up to Belch, who was alone on the beach at the time, and says to him, "I just found an idol!"
Belch's face lights up as he hugs his other half. "That's what I'm talking about. Ok, so clearly we have a bit more power tonight. Obviously voting for Hookfang is no longer a question tonight so we need a new target."
Barf replies, "What about Dagur? With Toothless gone, he's now the strongest person here."
Belch nods. "Perfect. So, one of us plays the idol on me and then you, me and Ruff put the votes on Dagur." They high five each other before going off to tell Ruffnut the plan.
Meanwhile, Heather and Dagur were sitting in the shelter alone when Dagur asks, "So, you given any thought to going for Belch?"
Heather sighs. "It's all I've been able to think about today. The thing is, you're right. Belch was an underdog at one point, especially looking at early challenges, but now he's quite the adversary. If we go for Belch tonight then I suppose we can gun for Astrid next tribal."
Dagur smiles and hugs Heather tight. "That's all I needed to hear."
(Heather confession) "With only 8 of us left, the moves that I make these next few Tribal Councils could determine whether or not I see day 39. Astrid's been on my hit list since the beginning, but I do think that right now Belch is the much bigger target and he needs to go as soon as possible."
Dagur then goes to find Hiccup, Astrid and Hookfang on the beach before saying to them, "Ok, you guys have myself and Heather for the night."
Hiccup's eyes widen. "Oh. Great. So, Belch then?"
Dagur nods. "Has to be."
Astrid smiles and says, "Perfect. For once this game Heather and I can work together again."
Hookfang asks, "You're sure she won't try anything funny on us?"
Dagur shrugs. "With Heather, it's hard to say. Even if she does flip, it's just her one vote vs our four. All we can do now is hope for the best."
By that point, it was starting to get late so the 8 contestants get their things and head off to Tribal Council.
Tribal Council (Day 28)
As per usual, the 8 finalists enter Tribal Council with their torches blazing and sit on the stools. The Jury of Stormfly, Gustav, Windshear and Toothless enter soon after with Toothless looking cleaned and wearing some fresh clothes.
Jeff then sits and Tribal begins. "Ok, day 28 of Survivor, nearly a whole month of being out on the other side of the world from Berk or Berserker Island and we are down to 5 humans and 3 dragons. Barf, do you think that the dragons might be a little worried that their numbers are dwindling."
Barf replies, "You know, the whole Humans vs Dragons thing pretty much left the door at the Tribe Swap. It's really just more about which alliances can hold out the longest."
Jeff nods. "Interesting, so Astrid, say we were still at the original human and dragon tribes, would the dynamic be any different?"
Astrid shakes her head. "Not at all. I mean, some of us definitely drew battle lines amongst the humans early on," Heather rolls her eyes as she knew who Astrid was talking about. "…and that has pretty much stuck out throughout the game."
Jeff nods. "Hookfang, same question but about the dragons."
Hookfang replies, "Well, the only vote we actually did as an all dragon tribe was almost unanimous, but as the only one who was out of the loop for that vote I did feel like I became a bit of a target afterwards."
Belch adds, "Hookfang, as someone who was being voted for that same night, I can bet to you that there were some lines drawn that night." Hookfang rolls his eyes to that.
"Wow." Was all Jeff could say to that. "Ok, so moving away from the humans vs dragons aspect of the game, Dagur, where would you say the real battle lines are positioned?"
Dagur replies, "I think right now there's basically 3 groups. There's the Berserker alliance between myself and Heather, there's the strong Berkian alliance of Hiccup, Astrid and Hookfang and then there's the underdog alliance of Barf, Belch and Ruffnut."
Jeff's eyes widen to that. "Ruffnut, you feel the same way?"
"Oh yeah." Ruffnut replies. "Barf, Belch and I have been throwing ourselves around between alliances and I feel like it's about time that we stand up for ourselves and show these guys what we are made of."
Jeff then asks, "Hiccup, how do you think tonight's vote is going to go down?"
Hiccup looks to the others and replies, "I think that this is where those battle lines might have to subside for a moment. I think for some of us it's clear who we want out so I'm just curious to see if those who know they're on the outs have some kind of plan to counteract us."
Jeff nods. "Ok. With that, it is time to vote. Hookfang has immunity, so no one can vote for Hookfang. Everyone else is fair game. Astrid, you're up." So one by one, they stand up and cast their votes into the urn. Heather took a moment to decide what she really wanted to do here, go with what she's been wanting to do since the start or go as far as to help out the enemy. In the end, she made a decision and put in her vote.
Once the votes were cast, Jeff grabs the votes and announces, "If anybody has a hidden immunity idol, and you'd like to play it, now would be the time to do so."
They all look at each other before Barf stands up and pulls out the idol she found earlier that day. She says to Jeff, "Jeff, Belch saved me the other night so I feel the need to pay him back. I'm playing this for Belch." She hands Jeff the idol before sitting back down.
Jeff holds up the idol and says, "This is a hidden immunity idol, any votes for Belch will not count. I'll read the votes." He opens up the urn and pulls out the first vote. "First vote…Belch, does not count." Then proceeds with the remaining votes.
"…Belch, does not count.
…Belch, does not count.
…Belch, does not count.
…Belch, does not count." He pulls out the next vote as many of them, especially the jury, wonder exactly what is about to happen.
"…Dagur, one vote Dagur.
…Dagur, that's two votes Dagur, one vote left."
Heather looks to Barf, Belch and Ruffnut then to Dagur in shock as Dagur puts his head into his hands. Jeff pulls out the last vote and says, "Eleventh person voted out and fifth member of our jury…Dagur."
Dagur nods before giving Heather a big hug, standing up and grabbing his torch before placing it in front of Jeff. "Dagur…your tribe has spoken." Jeff says before snuffing the torch. "Time for you to go."
Dagur turns around and says, "See ya, guys. Heather, stay strong." before walking away from Tribal Council.
Once Dagur was gone, Jeff says to the rest, "Well, it looks like the battle lines that were taken down didn't even need to be taken down. Grab your stuff, head back to camp. Goodnight." With that, the remaining 7 head back to camp.
(Dagur confession) "Dang it. I knew I should've looked for an idol earlier, that would've at least saved me. And now Heather is all on her own with these other 6 people. All I can do now is just hope for the best."
The votes are revealed with Barf, Belch and Ruffnut going for Dagur and the rest for Belch.
With only 7 remaining, it is down to the wire.
