Chapter 13: Split Up (Pt 4)
A/n: This is the final chap for this arc. Hope you enjoy.
3rd Person Pov.
The plan was simple. Well it was simple because Fuutarou couldn't think of anything else. But, in the end, it was simple. All the quints had to do was act and really show Mario that they weren't happy. It was easy and Mauro would at least take notice that somethings up. The quints also had Fuutarou's phone to communicate with him. (Fuutarou is using a landline phone that he has in his apartment.) The quints would contact him there if they had any questions.
The day after Fuutarou met up with Miku, the quints started to put the plan into motion. It was a Sunday and Maruo was home today. He decided to make breakfast for everyone and he did. He cooked up some eggs with bacon and once he was done, he called the quints down. Itsuki, Nino, Miku, Yotsuba, and Ichika all went down the stairs in that order without saying a word. They all had gloomy expressions on their faces and were not in the mood to talk.
"Ohaiyu." Maruo said.
Yotsuba was the only one to mumble something that sounded like Ohaiyu back.
"I prepared food for all of us. Come to the table." Maruo told his daughters.
The quints all dragged their feet over to the table and plopped onto a seat. Once they were all settled, Maruo said a quick prayer while the quints just listen. After Maruo was done, the quints all started to grab their own servings of the food cooked for all of them.
"So," Maruo paused in between, "how was your Saturday?"
There was no reply.
"Ok then." Maruo muttered to himself.
They all continued to eat in silence.
"Is there something wrong? You aren't talking as much as I remember." Maruo asked.
'He really does care for us. Fuutarou was right.' Miku thought. (Fuutarou told Miku that Maruo does care for them, just he shows it differently. I forgot to add this in the last chap.)
"Nothings wrong." Ichika replied quietly.
"That didn't make sense. You're not talking, you can tell me what's happening." Maruo told his daughters.
Yotsuba was about to say something but was then cut off by Maruo.
"Wait a minute, let me guess. It's something about Uesugi, isn't it." Maruo said.
The quints all looked up at the mention of Fuutarou.
"Look, I know you all love him but, I don't think it's a good idea to be dating him. What if that gets in the way of your studies? Then what?" Maruo said.
"We could still learn at the same time. We were able to make him like us while still learning so I think we could make it work." Itsuki said.
"But having a relationship is hard, especially with 5 girlfriends." Maruo said, "also I'm not too sold on the idea of Uesugi dating 5 people at once."
"He can make it work, we all have faith in him. We will all also help him out." Miku replied.
"You won't give up will you." Maruo said.
All the quints shook their heads no and Maruo sat back thinking.
"You're lucky that I do care about you girls. I will meet up with Uesugi today and I will see if you can still keep your relationship with him." Maruo told his daughters, "But you have to finish your breakfast."
"Papa! We're not little kids anymore!" Nino yelled in that annoyed tone.
Maruo chuckled.
The quints were all internally happy that their step dad would give Fuutarou a chance.
'Hopefully it goes alright.' All the quints thought.
As the family finished up their food, Maruo pulled out his phone and gave Fuutarou a ring. After some seconds of waiting, Fuutarou's ringtone went off at the table. Maruo was confused at first then realized that one of the quints had Fuutarou's phone.
"Ok who has it, give it here." Maruo said while holding out his hand.
The quints looked at each other timidly until Nino pulled out the phone. She put it in Maruo's hands and he inserted the phone in his left pocket.
"Before you get all sad, I'm still going to talk to him. It's just your chances have dropped a bit." Maruo said, "What number do I use to call him?"
The quints gave him the number of Fuutarou's landline and he instantly pressed it into his phone screen. The phone started to ring and a familiar voice picked up the phone.
"Ohaiyu." Fuutarou greeted.
"Ohaiyu Uesugi." Maruo greeted back.
'They did it. Those 5 girls did it.' Fuutarou thought.
"So, why are you calling me?" Fuutarou asked.
"I will meet with you today and we will talk about the situation we are in currently." Maruo said.
"Sounds good. When and where?" Fuutarou asked.
"The red leaf park next to the apartment at 3." Maruo told him.
"Ok then, see you there." Fuutarou replied back.
Maruo hung up the phone and continued to eat again. The quints all stared at him.
"What? Are you all going to eat or what?" Maruo asked.

It was now 3:00 pm and Fuutarou was waiting at the park. He was sitting on a bench waiting for Maruo to arrive. He sat there watching the leaves and trees sway with the cool breeze. Lately, the weather's been getting chillier and Fuutarou didn't like it. It got too cold and the coolness just sucked. After some more watching and thinking, he saw Maruo in the corner of his eye. He turned his over and also saw the quints following behind him. He got up and faced them. After some standing there waiting for them, they finally reached him and stopped, facing each other.
"Hello Uesugi." Maruo said.
"Hello dad." Fuutarou responded.
"Why do you keep calling me that, I'm not your dad." Maruo responded.
"Sorry, it's just habit." Fuutarou said.
"Alright then, let's talk about this dating thing." Maruo said.
"Ok then." Fuutarou replied.
"I'm going to be honest, I want to completely shut you down and say no. But, I know some people would be mad at me so I will listen to what you will say." Maruo told Fuutarou.
"Alright, well I want to continue dating your daughter while still tutoring them." Fuutarou said, "That's all I ask."
"Could you handle both?" Maruo asked.
"I've been doing fine so far, so I think yea." Fuutarou said.
"Are you sure? Relationships are tiring, ask you dad or me." Maruo said.
"We'll make it work, even if it becomes hard." Fuutarou said.
"Alright then, what about studies? How will you have time to tutor them while still trying to maintain a good relationship with them? There five of them, the five times the amount than what you usually would have." Maruo asked.
"Like I said before, I'll make it work. I love them too much and I will work my butt off just for them." Fuutarou said.
The quints all blushed at what Fuutarou said.
"Hmm. Ok. What about this, how does your father think about this?" Maruo asked, "How is Isanari doing with this?"
"My old mans all for it. He supports me and he is happy." Fuutarou replied.
"What about the future? How will you marry all of them when the time comes?" Maruo asked.
"Well I think you are allowed to marry 5 people at once. Maybe." Fuutarou said.
"Alright." Maruo said.
"One last question." Maruo told Fuutarou.
"Ok what is it?" Fuutarou asked.
"How much do you love my daughters? Why do you love them?" Maruo asked.
Fuutarou stood there thinking.
"Well, I love them because of who they are. Those girls are all loving and they all love me back. They all care for me and I absolutely love them with all my heart. All of them have things about them that make them even more lovable. I just love them because they're there for me and I'm there for them. I love them more than you could ever imagine." Fuutarou said.
The quints stood there blushing even more than before and Maruo stood there taking in what Fuutarou said.
"Alright then. Girls, you're all ungrounded. You all could also move back into the other apartment with Uesugi." Maruo said.
"What?" Fuutarou said, "It was that easy?"
"Look if it means that my daughters can be happy with you, then so be it. You better make them happy though, if I hear anything from them, you're going to be fired again." Maruo said.
"So wait, I have my job back too?" Fuutarou asked.
"Yep." Maruo replied.
The quints all ran over to Fuutarou and gave him a big hug. They all tackled him and he fell down with all of them on top of him. It was like a giant dog pile in the middle of the sidewalk. In that pile, every one was feeling so happy and excited.
"Yay Fuu-kun! We could stay together again!" Nino yelled out in excitement.
"Yep." Fuutarou smiled.
There were no other words to be said. Fuutarou and the quints just laid there embracing each other and enjoying the moment.
"You know I'm still here, right?" Maruo cleared his throat.
"Ah um yea." Fuutarou quickly got up and helped the quints back onto their feet.
"Well then, you could start moving back in whenever you want. I'm not stopping you." Maruo told them, "Also, I may be against the idea, but that doesn't mean I won't agree to do it."
"Arigato Gozaimasu! You have no idea how happy I am." Fuutarou replied.
The quints decided to leave early to go pack. They quickly left Maruo and Fuutarou alone.
"Look Uesugi, you better make them happy. I'm only agreeing to this because it's for them, alright?" Maruo said.
"Yes sir, will do." Fuutarou said while shaking Maruo's hand.
Fuutarou started to walk away from Maruo.
"One last thing," Maruo paused,
Fuutarou turned around and held his breath.
"Here's your phone back, I don't want to hold onto that thing anymore." Maruo said while giving Fuutarou his phone.
Fuutarou breathed a sigh of relief and grabbed the phone out of Maruo's hands.
"Arigato, I wanted to have this back." Fuutarou said while finally walking away.
Fuutarou left the park and started to make his way back home.

The quints packed up all the clothes that they brought over. It wasn't much so the move would be quick. After all the duffel bags were ready, the quints brought all of them to the living room. Maruo looked at all of them one last time.
"Wow, you really aren't little girls anymore." Maruo said, "You're all growing up."
"Papa, you're embarrassing me." Nino said.
"Well then, there's nothing I can do about that. You're mom would be proud." Maruo said, "She would be proud of the girls you are today."
"Arigato papa." The quints all responded.
"Ok then, give me one last hug." Maruo said while holding his arms out.
"This won't be the last papa." Yotsuba assured him.
"Well it will be for a while." Maruo replied.
The quints all came closer and gave a big hug to their step dad. They all stood there and just hugged for a bit.
"Alright, have fun with Uesugi. Can't wait to be at the wedding." Maruo teased.
"Papa!" The quints all yelled. They all were blushing.
"Ok ok, just go. I see you again later." Maruo said.
"Bye papa!" All the quints said to Maruo.
The quints left the apartment and made their way to the lobby where the lady at the front desk let them out. As they stepped out, a car was waiting for them there. It was Ebata-San and he had the car in park to wait for the quints. He noticed that they arrived and he told them to come in. The quints said yes and entered the car. Once they were all inside, Ebata-San started to drive the car back to the old apartment. All six of them talked about what happened and Ebata-San listened intently the entire time. Finally after the short drive, Ebata-San stopped the car and told the quints that they were good to leave. All 5 of the quints got out of the card and got their bags from the trunk of the car. They were carrying their bags when they noticed a familiar face standing in front of the door.
"Fuuta! What are you doing here?" Itsuki asked.
"Well I'm moving back in, aren't I?" Fuutarou replied.
"I know you're moving back in I was just asking why are you still out here. Don't you still have your card?" Itsuki asked.
"I kinda forgot it while packing up to leave." Fuutarou said.
"Baka." Itsuki said while punching his arm.
"Hey you can't blame me, I got a whole lot of things on my mind." Fuutarou defended himself.
"I guess so." Itsuki said.
"Well then, want to move back in?" Fuutarou asked the quints.
"Yep, let's go." Itsuki replied.
Fuutarou and the quints all went inside the apartment to continue living with each other.
