Chapter 27: Darkstar Rises

At Monster High, Kevin's car pulls up as he, Clawdeen, Frankie and Drake climbed out panting heavily with worn-out expressions.
"I can't believe one little orb could do all that damage." Drake said.
"Those Tetramands really know how to make tech." Frankie said.
"It would have gone by easier if a certain werewolf didn't stare at everything." Kevin.
"You don't get to tell me what to look at I've seen your Black Market account. Also, who makes a Black Market account?" Clawdeen asks.
"The algorithm learns your preferences better that way plus it helps me get sweet deals on alien tech." Kevin said.
"Look let's just be happy it's over and Kevin got his dumb car parts." Drake said.
"I just hope they can help us in the long run." Frankie said.
"Uh what makes you guys think I'm gonna still help you? We're square now. I'm not in detention anymore and I don't owe Drake anything either." Kevin asks.
"Maybe because it's the right thing." Clawdeen growls.
"Or maybe because deep down you want to be good." Frankie suggests.
"Hmmm nah. It's just easier to hang here then having to always be on the run." Kevin said popping his hood.
"Whatever. I'm gonna get a smoothie." Drake said as they made their way inside.
In the library, Hex was sitting in a chair reading his book with Dracula nearby also reading a book.
"I must admit Hex, it's nice to know someone appreciates the art of silence." Dracula said.
"Tell me about it. When was the last time any of these monsters actually read a book?" Hex asks annoyed.
"Teenagers." Dracula sighs.
Nearby Hope was reading one of her spellbooks bored out of her mind.
"Ugh how does Uncle Hex like these things so much? Geezers." She sighs when she noticed Drake walking down the hall and smile at some potential fun.
Getting up she went to follow him but when she turned a corner, she saw Draculaura walking up to him.
"Hey you." Draculaura said.
"Hey right back." Drake said as Draculaura giggles giving him a kiss on the cheek causing her eyes to widen.
'That sneaky little bat.' Hope growls as her hands glowed.
As Draculaura walks away Drake smiles before heading in a different direction.
"Sup Charmcaster." Deuce said as he and Gob walked by but Hope punches the nearby lockers causing Gob to yelp and jump into Deuce's arms as they saw she made a huge dent in the locker.
"Okay we'll just go." Grabbing Gob the two of them ran off.
"I'll show that Vampire a thing or two." Hope said.
At the Coffin Shop, Drake got himself a smoothie when Rook walked in.
"Oh Drake I wanted to talk to you about something." Rook said.
"What's up Rook?" Drake asks looking at him.
"Well lately even though you beat Vilgax a lot more dangers seem to be showing up whether they be dealing with monsters or aliens and I worry that you and the Omni-Trackers might not have the skills required to meet the challenges ahead." Rook said.
"I don't know Rook, we've gotten by pretty good so far." Drake said.
"There's always room for improvement. Sure you have the Omnitrix but you and the ghouls won't always be ready you need to be ready to handle any situation." Rook said.
"What would you suggest?" Drake asks.
"Maybe some training, possibly adding more members to the Omni-Trackers?" Rook suggests.
"I guess, but I don't know." Drake said.
Little did they know near the main entrance to Undertown a figure was looking to the highway nearby and a pair of eyes narrowed forming an idea.
"Give it some thought. You could be a great plumber if you wanted to." Rook said as they walked down the hall.
"Maybe." Drake said.
"Hey Drake." Hope said waving at him.
"Oh hey Hope what's up?" Drake asks.
"I just wanted to see if you needed help with anything." Hope said.
Drake was about to say something when Gwen came running in.
"Guys we got a problem! Trouble near Undertown!" Gwen said.
"What's wrong?" Drake asks.
"Massive damage by the entrance." Gwen said.
"If we don't take care of it and the authorities discover the entrance to Undertown it could create a mass panic." Rook gasps.
"Sorry Hope it'll have to wait." Drake said as he grabbed her hand and they went to go deal with this.
At the highway tons of cars were flipped over and damaged.
On the edge, a minivan with a family was dangling over the edge.
Screaming they all braced for the worst when suddenly a blue flash of light appeared.
As the car fell, Four Arms appeared under and caught them.
"Whoo. That could have been messy." Four Arms said as he leaped up and placed the van down on the road.
Gasping the family looks to Four Arms.
"Drive carefully folks." He waves.
Nearby a dark figure was watching him and tightened his fist eager to strike him down.
From a distance Rook used the grappling hook setting on his proto tool to pull cars free while Hope and Gwen used hteir powers to move the cars as far away from the Undertown entrance as they could.
By the time the Police showed up everything was taken care of.
"And the secret of Undertown is perfectly safe." Rook smiles.
"That was a close one." Gwen said.
"You were pretty good back there." Four Arms said.
"Does this mean I'm one of you guys now?" Hope asks.
"No you are no Plumber." Gwen said.
"But there might be another team that's looking for more members." Rook said.
"Oh really?" Hope asks.
"Uh hold that idea Rook. Let's get back to school." Four Arms said.
"At least we got here before anything got dangerous." Gwen said.
"I beg to differ." Turning around they saw a man with a metal mask on his face and black and blue clothes. "None of you are going anywhere. Not until I have my revenge."
As the masked man fired dark beams at them Hope and Gwen made a barrier around themselves but Four Arms and Rook got hit hard by it.
Cringing Rook falls to the ground unconscious.
Growling Four Arms looks at the masked man and tries walking towards him.
"I've almost forgotten how strong you are…Drake." He said causing Four Arms' eyes to widen as the blast increased sending him flying back and turning back into Drake.
"How did you?" Drake cringed when he saw something in the masked man causing him to gasp. "Hope, Gwen run!"
"What?!" Hope said surprised.
"You've got to getaway. You're our only hope!" Drake said before he was blasted again and knocked out.
"Don't worry we'll get them." Gwen said.
Cringing Hope looks to the masked man and pushed her barrier towards him creating a cloud of smoke allowing them to escape.
"You can't run forever my lovely Heather. I'll have my revenge on you too, but first." He turns to Drake and Rook.
At a familiar base by the lake, Drake and Rook were trapped under some kind of forcefield.
"What is this?" Drake asks.
"This is advanced Plumber Tech. How did he even get his hands on this?" Rook asks.
"Easy and I already figured out who it is." Drake said
"Do you?" Walking out they saw the masked creep stop in front of them.
"You had to be someone who knew about the Plumbers and Undertown but more than that you had to be someone with a grudge against us and only you hang around this dump. Why don't you ditch the dumb helmet, Michael?" Drake declares surprising them.
"Michael Morningstar? The one who stole the energy from girls from his school?" Rook asks.
"You ruined everything for me Rogers. Last time we met you nearly destroyed me but over the weeks my powers came back stronger than ever, but so did my hunger. My old method of feeding is no longer sufficient." Michael said.
"Not able to trick high school girls anymore huh?" Drake mocks.
"Hardly. I need more power than they can give. Michael Morningstar is no more." Taking off his helmet they all cringed to see his face was pale, most of his hair was gone and his skin was all gross.
"Ugh put the helmet back on." Drake cringed grossed out.
"You did this to me and now you will feed my hunger!" Darkstar said firing a blast of dark energy at Drake and Rook so he can absorb them.
"Drake quick change into something." Rook cringed.
"No, then he'll just absorb that alien's powers." Drake said.
"Doesn't matter I'll have them all sooner or later." Darkstar grins.
"I wouldn't be so sure about that." Turning around Darkstar saw Hope and Gwen by the door causing both girls to cringe.
"You seriously went out with him?" Gwen asks.
"I swear he looked better when I met him." Hope said.
"Laugh all you want Hilary. I have all the powers of Drake and the Plumber. How can you possibly hope to defeat me alone?" Darkstar mocks.
"Easy, we brought one more." Hope said as Hex walks in behind.
"So you're the one who tried to steal my niece's magic?" Hex glares before slamming his staff down creating a powerful beam that flew towards him.
Acting quickly Darkstar counter attacks with his own beam meeting the attack.
While he was distracted Hope and Gwen ran past him and fired two blasts at the barrier freeing Drake and Rook.
"Thanks a lot Hope." Drake smiles as they broke them free.
"You're not the only one who hates him." Hope smiles when Darkstar pushes Hex back.
"Time to end this." Slamming down on the watch Drake turns into Rath.
Roaring Rath rams into Darkstar knocking him to the ground.
"Let me tell you something Darkstar! Rath lost to you once but Rath doesn't lose twice!" Rath snaps about to charge in.
"Enough!" Darkstar snaps. "What the hell makes you so great Rogers?! You're a loser! I am the most powerful being in the world and I will not be-"
Before he could finish boasting Rath grabs him by the legs and slams him into the ground multiple times before throwing him up in the air.
Aiming high, Rook fires his took shooting Darkstar so he hit the ceiling.
Moving in Gwen and Hope created two giant blasts that sent Darkstar crashing to the ground.
"Nighty night." Charging forward Rath cups both hands together and bashed them both onto Darkstar creating a giant crater.
Groaning in agony, Darkstar looks up to see Hope glaring at him.
"And by the way. It's Hope." She glares before slamming her foot down on his face knocking him out.
At the Plumber Base, Max slammed the cuffs on Darkstar.
"See to it that he's locked up tight." Rook said.
"Don't worry he won't be causing trouble anytime soon. Say hi to Ben and Gwen for me." Max said taking him away.
Sitting down Drake watched this and chuckled.
"You were pretty fierce back there." Hope said walking over.
"Rath is always fierce." Drake points out.
"True but something tells me you were feeling the anger too." Hope said.
"Maybe I was. Still angry for what he did to you." Drake said.
"Well you look at you being the gentleman." Hope said.
"Listen Hope I know this is a weird time but earlier Rook suggested that me and the Omni-Trackers try doing a little Plumber training and possibly recruiting more members." Drake said nervously.
"Drake are you asking me to join your little team?" Hope asks.
"Maybe." Drake admits.
Smiling Hope leans in and kisses him on the lips surprising him.
"Of course I will." She smiles. 'Game on Vampire Girl.'
Nearby Hex was watching them with a chuckle. "Now that one I don't mind." He smirks.
