After he'd reacquired the SAGE program, Tails flew his friends back to Greenhill and confided in Manic about laying low in one of his many safehouses. He knew what he was going to do with the A.I hacking device but he needed a place where he wouldn't be interrupted. Unsurprisingly, Fiona insisted on being there, and her boyfriend didn't argue. Manic assured the couple they'd be completely safe during their stay in the place he called home for the past year, the Labyrinth Zone.
As the 17 year old tirelessly worked on the SAGE program inside a laboratory, his girlfriend was given a tour of the massive research facility Manic and his friends were brought to by Agent Warwick. The building had 8 floors both above and below ground level, with balconies and a rooftop patio being the popular spots. The lounge and bar were frequented by locals as well as the green hedgehog's criminal-turned vigilante partners. After being in the facility for only one day, Fiona no longer wondered why this group decided to move here permanently. This place was a haven.
"...so, this is the main control room, Tails is working in the lab next door," Manic explained as he led the female fox through a corridor. "My friends Lita and Jaime are in the lounge to the left, and Nina is watching over the scanners with Cee. I don't know where Bark is at the moment, but he'll be around."
Fiona's gaze wandered as she followed close behind. "This place is amazing, Manic. So, Warwick dropped you off and just gave you guys the keys?"
"We all died, the lot of us, and Cal was nice enough to airlift us to this facility to have us revived in the recovery room downstairs. As we healed here, G.U.N took over pretty much the rest of the world and, well, you know how that story went."
"So that's why you weren't around to fight Millay."
"We had enough trouble keeping trigger-happy G.U.N men from kicking the doors open out here," Manic paused, mostly for dramatic effect. "...and much like you and Tails, I had my significant other by my side through it all."
Manic met his girlfriend Cee's glance through a tall window and the blonde hedgehog blew him a kiss before waving at the duo in the corridor.
"She's the best." Manic said as he smiled back.
"I'm happy you're with her. Things didn't seem all that great the last time I saw you, but clearly times have changed."
"They sure have," Manic said as he shifted his attention to the opening elevator doors across the hall. "Speaking of change, look at this guy all dressed up. What's happening, Bark? Haven't seen you all day, bruv."
Fiona looked up at the massive polar bear and slightly trembled. She didn't leave his former group HAZARD on good terms, and coercing Tails into stealing SAGE from them didn't help matters. What she didn't know was while she was imprisoned, Bark had switched sides and was now an ally to Manic and Tails.
Bark shook hands with Manic and then faced the female fox. "'Ello Fiona, did ya miss me? It's been ages since that business in Metro, yeah? How ya been?"
"Uh, g-great, you know...just fine..."
The polar bear put his hands up defensively. "Aye, I'm past all that bad blood. Me and Tails are mates, now. I'm on the straight path these days, I ain't got nuttin' to do with HAZARD no more, so everything's cool."
Fiona exhaled and laughed to herself. "Oh, okay, that's a relief to hear. I thought you were still pissed about that stuff I did, y'know, back then."
"Well, to be fair, we did take a crack at your boy in retaliation so I'd say we're even. Consider it water under the bridge."
"So, you're not a criminal anymore?"
"Oh no, I still am and probably always will be cause of 'dis guy," Bark said as he playfully slapped Manic's shoulder. "That stooge Warwick refused to get the rest of us pardons and instead told us to stay outta the mainland if we ain't want no bleedin' hearts coming after us. No big deal."
"Wow, you guys aren't allowed back across the border?"
"It ain't all that bad, we got more privacy out 'dis way, neighbours are nice enough. You get comfortable with the idea you're only welcome in one part of the world."
Manic nods in agreement. "We could use a bigger shopping mall in town square, but we work with what we've got."
"Don't you guys wanna see your family and friends back home?"
"It is what it is, Foxy." Manic said. "Although, I've heard rumblings that Sonic is pushing Warwick to allow overseas visitations in the coming year. We'll see how that works out. But for now, we're just happy to be alive-"
"Another great situation you led us into, mate." Bark said sarcastically.
"Y'all coulda jumped ship at anytime, but let's not get into that. How 'bout we check in on T? I'm sure he's pretty far along with his work, come on."
Bark shrugged and he walked beside Fiona as they followed Manic into the laboratory. As he pushed open the metal door, a loud fan in the ceiling nearly drowned out Manic's voice as he spoke to Tails.
He shut off the fan and removed his goggles. "Sorry about that, it was still kinda smoky in here. What's up, guys?"
"I was gonna ask you the same thing. You been on the clock since you got here, bro, you about ready for a break or what?"
"Well, I've still got some final tests to run on the computer, after that it should be finished."
Manic stepped in front of the computer. "Dude, just let me do this. I'm something of a scientist myself, alright, I can-"
"NO - please, Manic, don't touch anything." Tails pleaded as he got in the way. "I realize this is your equipment but I'm the only one who knows how to work SAGE."
"Whatchu talking 'bout? I handled that thing pretty well, if memory serves me correctly-"
"The first thing you used SAGE to do was shut down an ATM machine so you could steal the money inside." Tails reminded.
Bark nodded. "Yeah, that sounds like something Manic would do."
The green hedgehog backed away. "Alright, oh-kay. I'm leaving it to you. I'm just sayin' things would be a whole lot cooler if you actually hung out with the group instead of hiding in here, T."
Tails got the idea and sighed. "Alright. I'll run the tests now and wait for the results to come in."
Fiona kissed him on the cheek. "That's the spirit, champ."
"Sounds great, let's get some shots going! To the bar!"
"Whoa, it's a little early for shots, don't you think?"
Manic gave his friend a come on expression and Tails relented.
"Fine. ONE shot. That's it."
"Then more after your tests, now let's begin!"
Tails quickly typed on the keyboard and once he hit the ENTER key, he was out the door with his friends. Something the 17 year old decided to keep to himself was, by plugging the SAGE program into Millay's super computer, he was essentially transmitting the signal to anyone with advanced tracking tech, and he knew that would include Drago.
Less than an hour later, Tails was back in the laboratory sitting in an office chair, while Bark and Manic pushed a large couch into the room and sat on it. Fiona was introducing herself to Cee in the next room, and Bark's girlfriend Nina watched over the group with a glass of liquor in hand.
"So, you guys are a vigilante group looking out for bad guys? Is that what you do here?" The female fox asked.
"It's not the most reputable job description, but yes. That's what we do." Cee answered. "If G.U.N has shown us anything, it's that there's never a shortage of bad guys out there waiting."
"What makes you say that?"
"Drago Wolf, for starters." Manic chimed in. "And whoever this Nero dude is he keeps yappin' about."
Bark sat up in his seat and looked out the window. "Speaking of bad guys..."
Tails saw what the polar bear was talking about and immediately growled. "No, no, NO!"
"What?"
The fox jumped off the chair and walked over to the window. On the other side, a familiar face riding a hover board made his way over. Jet faced Tails through the glass window, but the Babylon Rogue was alone, and he looked different. He wore a metallic face mask over his beak and he traded in his white racing jacket for a white long sleeve with a bulletproof vest over top.
"Don't tell me you're with him." Tails said.
Jet grimaced. "I ain't happy to be here, either-"
"You don't have to do this."
The hawk tilted his head up and revealed a blinking red light on underside of the metallic mask. "Drago has me wired to blow should I make a run for it. Same with Storm and Wave."
"Bastard!"
Manic and Bark stood up next. "What the hell does Jet think he's doin'?"
"I don't know, but he can't get in here, these windows are bulletproof."
"I got this, fellas." Tails said. "What happened?"
"Shit head got me first. We were doing fine on our own, then his flock of drones caught up to us. I ain't got a choice."
Tails looked down as he thought this over, then Fiona came into the room. "What is it, what's going on?"
Jet met his gaze once more. "You gotta come with me, man."
Fiona pulled Tails back. "NO! You're not taking him away from me again!"
"It's alright, he's not doing this," Tails explained. "Drago has the others, he'll kill them if I don't go."
Her eyes began to water as her heart broke. "Why does it always come to this?..."
Tails lifted the SAGE program. "This thing has been nothing but trouble, and pain."
"I wish I never pushed you to steal it in the first place, Miles. None of this would've happened."
"If I didn't steal it, HAZARD would've taken over the world. Drago was an inevitability, and this needs to be settled. I'll be fine, I swear to you. We'll be laughing about this in an hour."
He quickly brought his lips to hers before signalling Jet to meet him on the roof. Tails unplugged the machine he'd been working on and flipped a switch on the side, then smiled at his friends on the way out the door.
Tails held on to the green hawk as he guided his hover board off the facility rooftop and into the sky. The ground got smaller and smaller as they ascended through the clouds, then it became hard to breathe as they got closer to the atmosphere. He was having flashbacks to when he, Amy, Knuckles and Manic saved Sonic from The Nexus, an orbiting station in space.
Finally, they reached the ledge of some kind of bridge with a chain link fence that caged them in. It wasn't big and didn't look like it would support their weight, but they continued on. Tails wasn't normally afraid of heights, but once he saw the stars weren't too far away, he tensed up.
"Get up here," Drago ordered, pistol in hand. "You're not denying me the satisfaction of your death."
Tail looked up at the rounding bridge, and saw both Storm and Wave wearing the same devices around their necks. A warning shot startled Tails and got his attention.
"Move, Prower!"
"Okay, easy! I'm going!.."
"Don't gimme that coward shit, get up here!"
The fox walked slowly up the bridge. "This ain't safe to walk on! I'm gonna fall through!"
"You're gonna die no matter if it's up here or down there, so just come face it like a man!"
Gingerly, Tails made his way up and stood 10 feet in front of Drago. He signalled for Jet to give him the SAGE program while keeping his finger on the detonator for the Rogues' bombs. Once he snatched the A.I from the hawk, he checked it out more thoroughly than the last time he had it. Tails watched as Drago realized the device was completely disabled.
"So, you did come here to play games, huh? Alright."
"No, Drago DON'T!"
Jet shut his eyes as the wolf pushed the button the detonator, but nothing happened.
"Oh, you gotta be shitting me-"
Upon realizing the bombs were disarmed, Jet pulled off the mask and threw it off the bridge, and his friends did the same. Storm and Wave activated their hover boards and quickly nosed dived back down before Drago could fire at them.
The wolf snarled and pointed his weapon at Tails. "You always find a way to ruin EVERYTHING for me, Prower."
Tails said nothing and looked his assailant in the eyes, unafraid of him. Drago pulled the trigger and unloaded the entire magazine on his nemesis. To his amazement, all seven bullets appeared to have stopped in front of Tails and were floating in mid air. The fox exhaled in relief and grinned wickedly, while Drago shouted every curse word he knew.
"How the fuc-"
Instantly, like a chameleon turning transparent, the very machine Tails worked on appeared. It resembled one of Dr. Eggman's Badnik's, but this one wasn't programmed to be evil. Drago couldn't believe what he was seeing, and couldn't do a thing as it glided across the bridge to take him down.
The machine's blue LED eyes looked into his. "GIVE UP"
As Drago punched and clawed at the machine, he roared, "Prower! What the hell is this thing?!"
The fox crossed his arms and smirked. "This is what I had planned on doing with SAGE this entire time. Call it a definitive version. I just didn't have the time or supplies to see it through, 'til now."
"This machine is gonna turn on you like the others did to that fat bastard! You don't know what you're unleashing, idiot!"
"I think I have more of an idea than you do."
The Babylon Rogues ascended back to the bridge to get a look at Tails' creation. "It looks way bigger than that engine you had back in the dorm, Tails."
"Yeah, well, the Tiltyard didn't have everything I needed. My friends out west did."
As the machine held Drago down, it's LED eyes turned yellow and spoke again. "HOSTILE DRONES INBOUND."
"What?!"
Drago smirked back. "Oops, did I do that?"
Tails looked at his allies. "Think you can handle 'em while I take on fleabag?"
Storm cracked his knuckles and nodded. "There's more than enough to keep me busy, Prower."
"Yeah, we got this." Jet reaffirmed.
"Sage! Help them fend off the drones!" Tails ordered.
The machine released Drago and levitated off the bridge, leaving the fox and wolf to face off.
Wave grasped Tails' shoulder and leaned in. "Kick his ass."
"I've waited this whole time to do just that."
She flew off to join the Rogues and SAGE as they met the flock head on, then Tails stepped toward his enemy in a fighting stance. He knew Drago had the advantage of being 100% healthy, while he was still injured, but he just had to be smarter in this fight.
The wolf jumped up for a hard front kick that Tails blocked with his forearms, then did the same for the right leg but he couldn't stop the heavy knee strike to gut, which agitated his healing ribs. The fox ducked under the combination of punches, hooked Drago in the body and side-stepped out of the way of a counter knee just in time.
The boxing training with Knuckles was really helping him evade the shots, but in turn, this angered Drago more. Tails jumped over a leg sweep, but realized too late this was a move to bring his attention low, and left him exposed to a spinning heel kick straight to the jaw. The blow knocked Tails backward and he flattened against the chain link fence of the bridge, rattled by the blow. The wolf swarmed him with punishing body blows and a few head shots mixed in, and all Tails could do was cover up to block as much as he could. Blood began to leak from his mouth due to the internal bleeding caused by the body shots.
Remembering another of Knuckles' moves, the fox grasped the back of Drago's head and pulled him in so that they were forehead to forehead. He could still hook Tails in the ribs, but his mobility was now dictated by his smaller opponent. Tails uppercut him and pulled Drago off balance which he followed up with a rising knee strike to the nose, which drew blood instantly.
Drago abandoned the body punches in favour of breaking Tails' grip around his head, which he accomplished by digging his claws into the fox's forearms and ripping down. Tails screamed out but continued to fight, deciding to go low. He lunged down, grabbed the back of Drago's cargo pants and performed a double leg takedown. The wolf landed with such force that he and Tails broke straight through the bridge instantly.
"Holy SHIT!" Drago screamed as he fell through.
Tails quickly snatched a thin metal bar and hung on, only to receive a hard kick directly to the right eye. He and Drago hung onto the underside of the bridge, while the view of Mobius behind them would give anyone butterflies. They traded kicks in an effort to break the others' grip, until they felt the bars giving way. Suddenly, it was a race to climb back onto the bridge. Drago quickly pulled himself back through the hole they smashed through, while Tails swung across the bars like he would on a playground. He used this momentum to flip off the final bar and land back on the bridge.
"You're dying by the end of this." Drago hissed while wiping blood from his nose.
"That's what you'd like to happen."
"That's what I'm going to ensure right now!"
Drago threw a furious combination of punches, two of which connected, but Tails dodged the rest before countering with a double uppercut-front kick combo of his own. This stunned the wolf long enough for the fox to land a backflip kick straight under the jaw, staggering him. Tails ran in for the knockout blow, but received a nasty elbow strike that cut his cheek open immediately.
The opponents backed up to catch their breath, then as Tails looked up, he saw Drago twist and contort his body in mid air to land a sideways spinning axe kick, something he'd never seen before.
Instantly, Tails was face down on the bridge and he couldn't pull himself up. Drago was equally as tired, leaning against the fence for support. He inhaled and sprung off the fence for extra hang-time as he came down with a double foot stomp, missing Tails' head as the fox rolled out of the way. Again, he smashed through the bridge, but this time, the damaged bars on the underside stabbed into both of his legs and he let out a scream which told Tails this fight was over.
The fox crumpled against the fence and sat down, while Drago's pained groans got worse the more he tried to free himself. After a third attempt, he gave up.
"You get this over with, then!...just toss me off or whatever you're gonna do..."
Tails breathed heavily and looked at the wolf for a moment, then SAGE and the Rogues flew back up to them.
"You're in a very compromising position there, fleabag." Jet taunted. "Would be a shame if someone were to just clip ya before your day in court."
Both Drago and Tails looked up at the hawk. "What?"
Wave nodded. "That's right, we ain't gonna kill ya, as much as everyone would like that. No, you're going straight to Warwick's office."
"Wait, are you saying you're-"
"Bounty Hunters, yep." Storm finished. Except we bring the targets in alive, so that they can live through their punishment,"
"And we get paid big time."
"When was this put into affect?"
"About a week after you stopped G.U.N." Wave answered. "Hey, these are strange times, my friend. Warwick saw what we could do and recruited us, now we get to catch bad guys instead of going to school. Win-win situation."
Tails stood up. "Well, alright, then...we're finished here, he's all yours."
Wave got off her board and walked over to the defeated wolf so she could slap a pair of handcuffs on his wrists, while Storm freed his legs from the metal bars.
Drago made eye contact with the fox one more time. "This doesn't end with me, kid. You'll see."
"Like everything else that's happened this year, I'll be ready for it." Tails responded.
Waved attached the cuff links to a tether on her hover board and jumped back on. "You'll see us around, Tails, so...Chao for now."
He waved to the Rogues and they sped off back toward Mobius, leaving the fox with his creation on the bridge.
"You did good, Sage. You saved my life, and who knows how many others by stopping that scumbag."
"YOU ARE SUFFERING FROM INTERNAL BLEEDING, MEDICAL ATTENTION IS REQUIRED."
"Yeah, what else is new. Let's get back to Manic's facility in the Labyrinth Zone."
"AFFIRMATIVE."
Tails grasped a handle on the machine's back and clenched his jaw. "Remind me to fix your text to speech function after I get stitches."
Following the trip back and one more night of extensive tests, Tails was ready to show the new Sage to the world, even if it meant handing him over to New Mobius Government. He brought the A.I to Greenhill so that he could get his close friends' approval first, and show them this machine was created to help, not hurt.
Knuckles approached Sage first and sized him up before speaking. "So you're SURE this thing isn't gonna go terminator and murder/enslave us all? Because that seems to be a reoccurring theme."
"Hello Jonathan. I am Sage. Why do you speak of me that way as if I weren't right here?" Sage asked, startling the echidna.
"Whoa, what the - it can understand me?"
"I can do more than understand you. My artificial heart breaks more and more, Jonathan."
"Okay, that's freaking me out. And how does it know my government name?"
"You gotta realize that Sage is basically Android Shadow, but without the angst and homicidal tendencies. And can you stop calling him 'it'? He's like me and you, let's treat him as such."
"Well, I'm just asking. I don't want another psycho android coming for us."
"Trust me, Knux, I spent many, many hours of my life working through each and every possible bug in Sage's system." Tails said. "Plus, I even let Sonic take him on a test run just to be sure."
The blue hedgehog nodded while eating his third chilli dog. "Yeah, this guy - he's all good in my books."
Amy joined the group in her backyard and held Sonic's hand. "I, for one, trust Tails completely. He's clearly the smartest one here, and if he says Sage is good, then he's good."
"Think about it, Knuckles. This is the lasting peace we've needed in order to move on. Isn't that what we spoke about the other night?"
The tall echidna slowly came around. "...yeah, I guess it is. I'm just cautious, is all. I have kids now, and I want them to grow up without seeing the life and death stuff we had to go through."
Tails nodded, and Knuckles fist bumped him. "I'll trust him because I trust you, little man."
"Speaking of which, my 18th birthday is coming up, and I was hoping you guys would vouch for Sage when I send him to Warwick for approval."
"Hey, you can count on us." Sonic said. "I've got a fair bit of pull with the suits, and they're still looking for a way to get the public's trust after the whole G.U.N fiasco. You got nothing to worry about, Tails."
"Thanks, man."
As the fox picked up his backpack and started walking, Amy called out to him. "You're not coming with us to the Roadhouse?"
"I would if not for the small fact that I'm still in school, and I've missed almost a whole week, now." Tails replied before waving. "Would you mind showing Sage around while I get my education?"
"You know what? Yeah, why not." Knuckles said as he faced the Android. "Let me make it up to you for my initial judgement. First rounds' on me, pal."
"Seeing as I cannot consume any liquids, I must respectfully decline the offer." Sage answered.
"Oh, does it work like Bender from Futurama where you need electricity to get high? I can totally hook that up, too-"
Tails stopped in his tracks and turned around. "Don't try to get him impaired. I have to show him to the Government!"
Sonic stepped between Knuckles and Sage. "We'll watch out for him."
"It was a friendly offer, alright!"
"Let's go. See you later, Tails." Amy said.
The fox hurried back to the Tiltyard and made it to his first afternoon class just before the bell. The next two and a half hours seemed to drag on, but when they finally went by, Tails raced back to the dorm so he could talk to Cream and Charmy for the first time since he left to fight Drago.
He sat on the black sofa and waited for his roommates to enter so he could share the news with them. Cream entered first and Charmy closed the door behind him.
"Oh, hey Tails. You done fighting that Drago guy?" The bee asked unenthusiastically.
"I am, and I've finally found out what I'm going to do with Sage." He said while reaching into his backpack.
"Magnus went around school saying you were going to destroy it." Cream said.
"Yeah, well, Magnus doesn't know shit and his real name is Beau. Anyway, check this out,"
"Tails, it's kinda been a long day-"
The fox revealed Millay's super computer and opened it. His roommates looked at it for a moment before Charmy spoke. "Does it play video games or something?"
"It's the master control switch for Sage. This is a fingerprint scanner programmed to accept two sets of prints to activate it. This means, that even if somehow this computer ended up in the wrong hands, that person couldn't do a thing without those fingerprints, and I guarantee they wouldn't ever figure out whose prints they'd need, because I haven't told anyone of this, not even Sonic. Not yet, anyway."
Cream looked at him in confusion. "So, why are you telling us - ohhhh."
"What?" Charmy asked. "Dude, are you saying you're setting our fingerprints for this?"
"Yeah, that's what I was getting at."
"Wait, how do we know somebody else like Drago won't just come after us like he came for you?"
Tails lifted a finger to say 'one moment please' then pressed a button on the computer. The Android's stealth camouflage suddenly turned transparent once again and he appeared in the dorm.
"What the hell?!"
"Tails, what is this?"
"This is Sage. I custom built an old Badnik specifically to house the artificial intelligence in my phone, and spent god knows how long at a desktop in a laboratory going through thousands of lines of code...I had to work as hard as Eggman did just to make this run properly in a new body, and twice as hard to add everything he'd need to stay hidden, as well as keep his base intentions good. It took a lot of work that I don't think I'll ever put into anything else in my life, technology-wise."
Charmy waved his hand in Sage's face. "Can he hear us?"
"Hello Charmy Bee. I am Sage. Yes, I can hear you."
"Yeah, I went through this exact thing with Knuckles at lunchtime. Sage is an Android but programmed to help." Tails clarified.
"Now, that's pretty cool."
Cream looked at the fox. "So, you worked hard to make this Android as pure of heart and as secure as possible, just to give it away?"
"I'm not giving him away, Sage belongs to no one. Never did. I created this switch as a means of restoring him to his base settings if ever need be, and don't ask me how I'm sure of that, please just trust me. I'm sure."
"...so, out of everyone you know, why us?"
"Because there's no one else that is still as good in here," Tails pointed to his heart. "Than you two."
"Not even Amy or Sonic?" Charmy asked.
"Well, they were my second choice, but don't tell them I said that. So, this is yours - if you want it. You can say no and I'll understand."
Charmy immediately put his hand on the scanner. "I'm in."
The guys turned to Cream for her answer, then she put her hand down as well. Tails pressed a button and a green LED light scanned their fingerprints and a message popped up on screen that read "Prints Confirmed"
"Okay, great. So, now that we're the locked in, how does it work?"
"Sage is an Android, with free will over himself. He's a protector, and he'll be the hero going forward. If ever he's conflicted and malfunctions, this switch restores him to the original state, this state. And yes, I do have a way of shutting him down if need be, but hopefully my hours of work ensure that doesn't happen."
Cream faces the Android. "Hi, Sage. How are you today?"
"I'm learning new things every second I interact with others, and thusly I've met some great characters. I like it here."
"Yeah, you might have to teach him about small talk. He's still new to this."
"Oh, I see, so he's like our son, then!" Charmy exclaimed.
Sage looked up. "Does this claim make you my parents?"
Before Cream could passively shoot this notion down, Tails spoke first. "If it's easier to go by, then yeah. You're a son in this family."
"Tails, are you sure this is how we should address Sage going forward?" Cream asked.
"Yeah, it'll be like playing The Sims."
"Except that this Sim is real."
"Hey, at least you don't have to feed him, though. Come on, it'll be a good learning exercise for everyone."
The rabbit thought about this, while Charmy was busy teaching his 'son' new words and phrases.
"Alright, Tails. I can get on board with this."
"I've still got half a term to go before I graduate, so I'll be right here for every step, I promise." The fox assured.
As Cream smiled, an alarm on Tails' phone went off so he pulled it out to shut it off.
"Except for this one, I gotta go."
"What? Where are you going, now? Tails!"
"I made plans with Fiona for tonight. I'll be back in the morning, then we'll get caught up." He said as he crossed the living room.
"Wait! What if we need help with him?"
Tails looked into the dorm once more. "Remember that idea of trust? Everything will be fine. Okay? Talk to you guys later."
Cream gave up trying to protest, then waved and turned to join Charmy's lesson. Tails got one last look at the A.I he'd protected when it was still inside a phone, suddenly understanding the unintentional irony of Charmy's parental comment. He helped upgrade Sage, essential giving him life, and now that he'd set Cream and Charmy as the sole bearers to the master control, it was time to let him go and move on, himself. He closed the door and made his way through the halls to meet his girl waiting at the front gate, happy to have seen his plan through for Sage.
