The Falcon had finally arrived at Hosnian Prime, capital of the New Republic. To ensure that political power doesn't focus on any single planet or system, the New Republic changes the location of its capital every ten years, with a proper order of which world(s) to serve as the capital having long been compiled, spanning over five hundred years. So as to avoid corruption, no planet may be disqualified from serving as the capital, regardless of how poor it might be. Even a planet located at the very edge of the Galaxy is eligible to become the capital.
"Chewie, Kaydel, you're with me," said Ben. "We need to tell General Solo and First Senator Organa what we've learned today. Beaumont, Rose, take Finn to the Jedi Temple and tell Master Skywalker all about his abilities."
"Sure thing," said Rose as she nodded. "Good luck...it really feels like the fate of the Galaxy is in our hands, doesn't it?"
"For all intents and purposes, it is," said Ben with utmost seriousness. "For now..."
"Well, let's go to the Temple," said Beaumont, as the group split up...
Two hours later...
Ben and Chewie stood behind Kaydel as she filled in General Han Solo on the going-ons of the First Order.
"..and that's our report," said Kaydel. "If you'd watch this recording, you'll hear everything the Stormtrooper PN-2187, or Finn as he prefers to be called now, has shared with us."
"Excellent work Private Connix," said General Solo. "The First Senator is gonna love seeing this. And I know that, at the very least, Admiral Ackbar and Vice-Admiral Holdo are ever ready to fight the First Order."
"Is a war coming?" Asked Kaydel.
"That depends on the Senate," General Solo said, furrowing his brow. "But...I'm willing to bet we'll declare war on the First Order by month's end."
"That might not be on time to stop whatever weapon the First Order is making," said Ben.
"Nah, and I'm betting it's another Death Star," General Solo bitterly said. "It'd make sense; the First Order's a wannabe Empire, so of course they'd make a wannabe Death Star."
"Rrrgh rraaww wrrr wrraaa," growled Chewie.
"You said it, Chewie," General Solo's face darkened. "Without a Rogue One to uncover any weakness in THIS Death Star, we're fighting blind."
"If I may be so bold," Kaydel spoke up. "We can always strike them first."
"We gotta get Senate approval for that," said General Solo, before cracking a smile. "Then again, I don't need their approval to investigate some leads...using a squad or two."
General Solo took out his communicator. A holo-image of a roguish-looking pilot with curly hair and stubble appeared.
"Captain Dameron," said General Solo to the young pilot. "We've got a mission for you. We've got intel that the First Order is preparing an all-out attack on the New Republic. We need you to-"
"Head on over there and blow something up?" Dameron asked, grinning.
"You've read my mind," General Solo grinned back. "Specifically, if you see something that looks like a Death Star, blow it to smithereens."
"Oh man," said Dameron as he punched the palm of his hand. "Can't wait!"
"Here are the coordinates to what we suspect is the site where the First Order is making their weapon," said General Solo, sending Poe Dameron the data...
Meanwhile...
"So, what, Master Skywalker isn't here?" Beaumont Kin asked the Jedi Knight, a male Twi'lek with orange skin.
"I'm afraid Master Skywalker's been gone for three years now," said the Knight. "And Masters Ahsoka Tano and Mara Jade are both out on missions. We really can't take in a new Jedi Padawan without the approval of either one, and neither will return for AT LEAST another month!"
"Well, that sucks!" Rose exclaimed in frustration.
"It is what it is," Finn said, sighing. "In any case...what are we to do, now?"
"I'm stumped," said Beaumont as he plopped himself to the floor, ignoring the Twi'lek who awkwardly chose to leave.
In that moment, a very familiar R2 unit rolled up to Rose, Beaumont, and Finn.
"Weeeep woop woop!" It beeped to the crew.
"Hey!" Rose said as she noticed the droid. "You're R2-D2!"
"Luke Skywalker's famous droid," Finn mused to himself as he stared at the R2 unit.
"Weeep wop wop, boooop," R2 beeped.
"Wait, Luke Skywalker left to a planet called Ahch-To?" Asked Rose.
"Brrrrp bop brrp," R2 beeped.
"To find the First Temple of the Jedi?" Asked Rose. "What for?"
"Wrrrp brrp," R2 beeped.
"Classified, huh?" Rose asked, smiling. "Need-to-know basis only?"
"Woooop beeep beep," R2 beeped.
"Yeah, he's Finn," Rose said, confused. "How did-"
At that moment, R2 began to play a holo-message left behind by Luke Skywalker.
"That's the man from my vision!" Finn exclaimed. "When I first touched this lightsaber!"
"Finn, welcome to the Jedi Temple," said the image of Luke. "Forgive me for not being here in person, but the Dark Side yet moves, conspiring to destroy peace. The Force has shown me a vision of what is to occur; dangerous times yet lay ahead. The Jedi Order, as it stands now, is unable to properly deal with this darkness."
"But why?" Beaumont asked, earning him a look that all but outright said "wow, you're an idiot" from Rose.
"For now, Finn, I'll lend you this droid," said the recording. "When the time comes, it will lead you to me, to Ahch-To, where your Jedi training will begin."
"But where's Ahch-To?" Asked Finn to Rose and Beaumont, both of whom simply shrugged their shoulders.
"I've never even heard of that planet before," said Rose.
"I have," said Beaumont. "It's the planet where the Jedi were founded, well over twenty thousand years ago, before the Old Republic was even a thing."
