As the group arrives back at Berk they see the dragons being controlled while flying around the Bewilderbeast that has destroyed most of Berk and encased it in ice.
"No..." Hiccup says sadly as Alexis looks in horror.
"He took all the dragons!" Fishlegs shouts.
"Distract the Alpha. Try to keep his focus off of Toothless." Hiccup says.
"Got it." Astrid says.
"Uh... how?" Tuffnut asks.
"Have your forgotten who you're riding with? There isn't a dragon alive that I can't wrangle! Except for this one!" Eret shouts as his dragon flies upside down causing him to fall before Alexis flies under him.
"Got ya." Alexis says as she catches Eret before dropping him back on his dragon.
"Never thought a day would come that I had to thank a pretty lady viking for saving me." Eret says as he smiles.
"Just returning the favor. Hold on a little tighter next time." Alexis says before she and the other vikings throw a sheep in front of the alpha dragon on the group with a catapult while Hiccup begins to sneak around towards Toothless.
"Keep 'em coming!" Ruffnut shouts.
"Black Sheep baby!" Snotlout says as he drops a black sheep onto the Bewilderbeast as Fishlegs blows a giant horn.
"Ten points! Uh-oh..." Snotlout says as the alpha dragon blows the sheep off before blasting ice at the horn.
"I'm okay!" Fishlegs shouts.
"Hiccup did it!" Alexis says happily as she then sees Hiccup riding on Toothless again before the Bewilderbeast tries to attack them.
"Hiccup is really something." Eret says as Alexis smiles.
"Tell me about it. Take him down Hiccup!" Alexis shouts happily as other vikings cheer.
"Go get 'em." Valka says as Hiccup successfully knocks Drago onto the ground before landing nearby.
"Hold him there Toothless! It's all over now." Hiccup says as Toothless growls at Drago.
"Or is it?" Drago asks while smirking.
"Oh no!" Hiccup says in horror as the Bewilderbeast comes up behind him and freezes him and Toothless in ice to Alexis and Valka's horror.
"No! No..." Valka shouts as she runs over and starts beating on the ice.
"Hiccup! No!" Alexis as she tries to run over only for Tuffnut and Astrid to hold her back. Valka then steps back as the ice glows before breaking apart as Toothless emerges while roaring angrily as he challenges the alpha after having protected Hiccup from its attack.
"He's challenging the Alpha!" Hiccup shouts as Toothless roars angrily while displaying dominance to the alpha.
"To protect you." Valka says as toothless begins firing attacks at the alpha before Toothless begins roaring as more dragons fly by his side.
"No, no, no, no! No! Fight back! Fight! Fight! What's the matter with you?" Drago asks angrily as he climbs onto the alpha's tusk.
"Now do you get it? This is what it is to earn a dragon's loyalty. Let this end now." Hiccup says as he gets on Toothless's back as Toothless and the other dragons stand ready to protect their riders and Berk.
"Never! Come on! Fight!" Drago shouts as Toothless roars causing the other dragons to open fire on the Bewilderbeast before the dragon roars angrily at Toothless only to have Toothless fire at it and break one of its tusks making it bow to him in fear.
"The Alpha protects them all." Hiccup says as Toothless roars triumphantly before the Bewilderbeast leaves into the sea with Drago still on his back.
"You never cease to amaze me bud. Thank you. Toothless! You know that doesn't wash out." Hiccup says as he and Toothless land on the ground before Toothless licks him while the other dragons go back to their riders after roaring and bowing to Toothless as their new alpha.
"Dulce! I missed you girl." Alexis says as Dulce happily pounces on her before nuzzling her.
"That was some pretty fine dragon wrangling back there. You'd make a good trapper." Eret says as he goes over to Hiccup.
"Y'know Skullcrusher's gonna need somebody to look after him now." Hiccup says as he gestures to his father's dragon who is nudging Eret.
"Me? I'd be honored." Eret says as Hiccup nods.
"Your father... he'd be every bit as proud as I am." Valka says as she and Alexis come over to Hiccup.
"Thank you. I'm really glad you're here mom." Hiccup says happily.
"And here I'll stay." Valka says as she smiles.
"See? I told you it was in here." Alexis says as she playfully punches Hiccup in the chest.
"Ha, ha. Still doing that one? That's hilarious. Come here you." Hiccup says as he pulls Alexis in for a kiss before letting go as Gothi comes over and gestures for him to kneel. As Hiccup kneels Gothi then marks Hiccup as the new chief as others cheer.
"The Chief has come home!" Gobber shouts happily.
"Long live Chief Hiccup! Long live the Chief! Long live the Chief! Long live the Chief! Long live the Chief!" Vikings chant as dragons fire into the sky.
