Chapter 27: The Shocking Gym Battle! Pt. 1
Relief was all that they felt... when they saw the sign that said the name of the destination that they've been searching for so long: Vermilion City.
It's been a few weeks since they had left Cerulean City... and after some twists and turns while getting lost and meeting new people and Pokémon along the way... the group has finally made it...
And all they could do was smile happily from their big accomplishment for being able to make it, as they were all almost at their wit's end from having to travel around the wild and the route for many days...
"Hip, hip, hooray! Hip, hip, hooray! Hip, hip, hooray!" The six Trainers all shouted out together, celebrating the moment they had for arriving to their destination. As soon as they made their cheer, they already had plans for what to do now.
"I can't wait to take a bubble bath." Misty said happily, as she noticed herself on how filthy she was because of all the traveling.
"I have to hit the laundromat." Brock pointed out, as their faces and hands weren't the only things that were dirty, as their traveling outfits were quite filthy as well from all the trouble they had to go through.
"I could use something to eat..." Yellow sighed, with Chuchu feeling the hunger as they both blushed when they felt their stomachs rumbling.
"I could use a bit of relaxation from all that walking..." Luna groaned, as she leaned on Arcanine, who smiled sheepishly, as he understood full well of how fatigued his Trainer was. Ninetales chuckled, as she shared the same feeling as her mate.
"Well, Ash... I think you know what we need to do next." Isamu said, turning to his younger brother.
"Yeah! We're going to find the Vermilion City Gym right now!" Ash declared, until the elder brother rose a brow before grabbing the younger brother by the back of his collar.
"Not quite."
"Huh? What's the matter, big bro?"
"Look down." Isamu stated, causing the younger Ketchum brother to blink before he looked to see... both Pikachu and Eevee looking exhausted. They were also filthy from all the walking and traveling they had to do with their human friends.
Not only that, their stomachs growled, causing the younger Ketchum brother to widen his eyes as he held his Electric Type partner in his arms.
"Pikachu...!" Ash breathed out in shock as Isamu did the same for his Normal Type partner.
"They must be hungry... Can't blame them, since we haven't eaten anything decent for the past three days..." Isamu frowned, as Luna blinked, before looking to see Arcanine and Ninetales starting to feel hunger in their bodies as well.
"Oh dear..." Luna frowned as the younger Ketchum brother frowned.
"Hey, Pikachu... You feeling hungry, little buddy?" Ash asked, before another stomach growl was heard. And this time, it came from Ash, who blinked in surprise. Misty and Brock sweat dropped, while Isamu and Luna looked sheepish.
Yellow smiled in understanding as the younger Ketchum brother smiled sheepishly.
"Oh... Ahaha... I guess we're all a little hungry... Right, Pikachu?" Ash asked, as Pikachu could only make a weak "Pika" of agreement.
"Well then... first things first... Our next destination is the Pokémon Center." Isamu stated. No one had a complaint against that, as the six Trainers began to make their way to have their Pokémon friends rested up before they could do anything else.

[Opening Ends]
"I think it's hungry." Ash explained as he set Pikachu down on the counter, with Isamu doing the same for Eevee. The boys had also had the rest of their Pokéballs set down on the counter next to their partners as Nurse Joy smiled in understanding.
"We'll fix Pikachu and Eevee up." Nurse Joy said as she was about to get to work to get the Pokémon treated. But while she was doing so, she took notice of the group staring at her in surprise and a bit of confusion.
Seeing this, the nurse smiled before she explained herself.
"I know why you're surprised. I look like all the other nurses, don't I? My first cousin works in Pewter City, and my second cousin works in Viridian City. I think I'm the prettiest one, don't you?" Nurse Joy asked with a giggle.
"Yeah!" Brock agreed with a smile while the elder Ketchum brother sighed.
"To be honest... I honestly can't tell the difference... Other than the hat, you Nurse Joys all look exactly alike." Isamu thought with narrowed eyes.
It was at that moment when the Pokémon Center's doors opened to show a boy rushing in with the Pokémon Center's Chansey, as they were rushing a stretcher inside that had an injured Rattata on it!
"Hurry! You'll be okay, Rattata...! Hurry!" The boy said with a concerned look on his face.
The group turned to see this happen while Yellow and Luna widened their eyes on bad the Rattata looked.
"Oh my goodness..." Luna breathed out as Brock frowned.
"That Rattata's in rough shape. I wonder what happened..." Brock frowned while the nurse sighed.
"Oh... it's the 15th one brought in this month." Nurse Joy sighed, catching the group by surprise.
"What!?" Ash blinked as the nurse led the six Trainers to the room where there were many injured Pokémon resting from whatever they went through.
"What is this...? What happened to them...?" Yellow asked as Nurse Joy explained the cause of all this.
"They all lost to Lt. Surge, the Vermilion Gym Leader." Nurse Joy explained, causing Isamu to turn to her.
"The city's Gym Leader was the cause of all of this...? This seems a bit too extreme... even for a Gym Battle." Isamu frowned, as he recalled on how the battles between him and Brock worked... which didn't cause too much damage.
And the same was for when he battled against Misty. During those two battles, there was hardly any need for any roughing up. But at the present, from what he and his companions were seeing, the Gym Leader in Vermilion right now must be a different story.
Ash seemed to almost understand of what this meant as he frowned.
"Whoa, he must be a great Trainer." Ash breathed out as Misty took this chance to taunt him a little about his ability as a Trainer.
"So, Ash, you scared already?" Misty asked, causing Ash to glare at her.
"No way!" Ash protested, as the Water Type user smirked a little.
"Well, you talk big. But when you see how tough it is to get Badges, you turn chicken. Maybe you should just quit now. Besides, the only Badges you do have
you got out of pity." Misty stated bluntly.
"A Badge is a Badge!" Ash retorted, only to get a flick on the nose, causing him to wince and groan.
"Lay off, Misty. We don't need you to ruin his confidence when the Vermilion City Gym is next on our list." Isamu said with narrowed eyes as the Water Type user glared back at the elder Ketchum brother.
"Well then, why don't you and your brother prove how tough you are at the Vermilion Gym?" Misty challenged as Brock looked at the conditions of the Pokémon patients.
"From the looks of things here, you two will have to be tough to battle with this Lt. Surge." Brock pointed out as the younger brother frowned.
"You think he's that tough?" Ash asked, causing the Water Type user to put her hands on her hips.
"We gave you Badges, you know... while your brother was able to win those Badges from us, with Luna winning my Badge from me. How do you think we'll look if you get crushed by Surge?" Misty taunted further, causing Ash to huff and furrow his brows.
"You have nothing to worry about, except maybe seeing my own incredible strength." Ash snapped, only for the nurse to come between and break it up.
"All right, that's enough." Nurse Joy said, causing the younger Ketchum brother to protest.
"She started it." Ash grumbled, until the nurse reminded the group of what this place was to the Trainers and to the Pokémon.
"Remember, this is a hospital." Nurse Joy reminded them, causing both Ash and Misty to see the looks they were getting from the other Trainers that were by their injured Pokémon's side.
"She's right... Don't fight, you two..." Luna agreed, before the nurse brought up something that would leave both Ash and Misty flustered.
"They say if two people fight, they really care about each other." Nurse Joy said, much to their bewilderment.
"Me care about her?"
"Me care about him?"
The two spoke together in unison before they huffed and turned away from each other. Yellow sighed while Luna sweat dropped at the scene. The nurse only giggled before there was a little sound that the nurse recognized.
"That signal means your Pokémon has recovered." Nurse Joy said, causing Isamu to smile.
"That's great." Isamu said, as the group left the room to see both Pikachu and Eevee chewing on some apples together while sitting next to their Trainers' Pokéballs that were left on the trays.
"Pikachu!" Ash called out as the two starters turned to see their human friends coming over with Arcanine and Ninetales.
"I hope you're full because we got to win big at that Gym today." Ash declared, causing the Mouse Pokémon to nod while Isamu turned to Eevee, who simply nodded in understanding.
The Evolution Pokémon knew what her human partner was going to say, so there was no need for Isamu to explain anything to her now. But before the group could make any more movements, another Trainer rushed in...!
"Please hurry! Just hold on, Pidgey!" The Trainer whimpered as he and the Center's Chansey rushed past the group with the Pidgey on the stretcher.
"That's the 16th one..." Luna frowned as Misty nodded in agreement.
"I guess they must've come from that Gym." Misty agreed, causing the Electric Type to pale at the sight before he jumped up in horror, catching the group's attention.
"Pi! Pikachu! Pikachu!" Pikachu wailed as he shook his head in refusal, feeling fear from what the Pidgey must've gone through.
"What? Don't be a coward." Ash frowned in annoyance, only for Pikachu to try and ask his human partner about what he felt about Pikachu himself.
"Pika! Pikachu...?"
"Huh? Don't I care if you end up like that Pidgey in there? Is that it?" Ash asked, earning a nod from his Electric Type partner.
"Pika! Pika!" Pikachu answered frantically, causing the younger brother to sigh.
"Yeah... I guess you're right." Ash started, causing Pikachu to sigh in relief. But that was when Ash brought his head up with a confident smile before he tried to drag his partner out of the Center.
"No problem. You won't end up that way because you'll win!" Ash assured, but this didn't stop the Mouse Pokémon from refusing to go as he struggled to hold onto the bench, leaving the younger brother annoyed.
"Don't be a scaredy-cat, Pikachu!" Ash called out, as Isamu rose a brow.
"Ash, don't drag Pikachu into a fight that he doesn't want to be a part of... A Pokémon has to make the decision as well. It's not up to just us Trainers to make all the decisions..." Isamu reminded him, but before Ash could answer...
"Pika! Pika... CHU!"
The Mouse Pokémon began to shock Ash with a Thunder Shock attack, causing the younger Ketchum brother to yelp and groan in pain from the shock as the others watched in surprise from the scuffle the two were having.
"Oh my..." Luna frowned in concern while Misty simply blinked at the sight.
"The way they fight, must mean they care a lot." Misty commented as Yellow looked at her.
"You mean like how you cared for Ash?" Yellow asked, only to get a glare and a blush.
"That was different!" Misty retorted, causing the straw hat girl to give a giggle at the face the Water Type user was making.
"Well, Eevee...? What's your choice on this? You saw how the Pidgey went after the battle at the Gym..." Isamu turned to Eevee, who simply smiled and shook her head.
"Vee! Eevee!"
The Evolution Pokémon had made up her mind to challenge the Gym, no matter how difficult it was. And after seeing the injured Pidgey, that made her even more determined to win and to teach the Gym Pokémon a lesson for brutally hurting the opponents.
And while Isamu couldn't fully understand Eevee, he could see that she was determined to win against the tough opponent as he smiled at her.
"I'm glad that we're on the same track together. Let's do this, girl."
"Vee!" Eevee cried out, causing Ash to gape at the two before he glared at his Electric Type partner.
"Come on, Pikachu! Why can't you be more like Eevee!?" Ash whined, only to get another shock from the Mouse Pokémon in response.
Luna sighed before turning to Arcanine and Ninetales. And as usual, they both had the stern looks on their faces, as they seemed to share the same wish and determination that Eevee had when Isamu asked the question to her.
Knowing what their answers were going to be, the girl nodded to them, knowing that there was no need to ask.
Later...
"So this is the Vermilion City Gym." Ash breathed out as everyone had left the Center to find the Pokémon Gym. And by the time they got there, the younger brother could only marvel on how big it looked.
"It's not too late to back out." Misty taunted again, only for Ash to glare at her.
"Why should I back out when I'm going to win? Just stick around and watch me." Ash huffed, only to get a smirk in return.
"I'll stick around to see your face when you get creamed." Misty shot back, causing Ash to confront her again.
"If you think we're going to get creamed, you're going to be disappointed." Ash retorted, as Isamu sighed.
"That's enough, you two... Nothing is going to happen at all if none of us goes inside..." Isamu reminded them, before he opened the Gym doors. As they got inside, two people were in front of them, as if they were the Gym's Trainers.
"Hello. I've come for a Pokémon Battle to earn a Thunder Badge. And it's not just me... my friend and my brother are here to do the same." Ash explained. As he made the request, the man smirked before looking back.
"Hey, boss! Another several victims for the emergency room!" The man called out, causing Isamu to narrow his eyes.
"So their boss is the Gym Leader...?" He thought to himself.
As soon as he did, a man came from behind, looking larger than the two Gym Trainers. As he approached the group, the group all watched to see how big he was. And it wasn't just big, he looked rather intimidating for a Gym Leader.
"Which ones?" The man asked.
"Whoa... He's huge..." Brock commented in disbelief.
"Is he the Gym Leader you guys have to beat?" Misty asked in surprise.
"Looks like it." Isamu said as he narrowed his eyes as the Gym Leader smirked before he welcomed the group.
"Welcome to the Vermilion Gym." greeted the Gym Leader before he turned to the three girls.
"Oh... My next few challengers are rather cute. But don't think I'll go easy on you little ladies..." Lt. Surge smirked as Misty started to stammer as he had placed his hands on her shoulder.
"Excuse me... Yellow and I aren't the challengers." Misty said sheepishly, causing the Gym Leader to blink.
"Then who?" Lt. Surge asked, before Isamu stepped up.
"That would be me... my brother... and Luna here." Isamu declared, causing the Gym Leader to turn to the Ketchum brothers before he smirked arrogantly at the two.
"Hm? Oh you two...? Okay, babies." Lt. Surge taunted as he ruffled the boys' heads, causing Ash to glare. Isamu felt the same as they brushed his large hands off of their heads while the younger brother snapped at his opponent.
"I'm no baby! My name's Ash Ketchum!" Ash snapped, causing the Gym Leader to sneer at the younger brother.
"Heh! I call everybody who loses to me baby... Hm?" Lt. Surge started before he took notice of Eevee and Pikachu, as Eevee was glaring up at him while Pikachu was clutching onto Ash's leg.
"Hah! A Pikachu... and an Eevee? Hey, look at this! The two babies brought along their baby Pokémon!" Lt. Surge laughed, causing the two Gym Trainers to laugh alongside them. Ash and Pikachu glared, along with Eevee.
But no one was more frustrated than the elder Ketchum brother was. Their laughter caused him to twitch in annoyance with a tick mark as he stepped up to confront the Gym Leader for his taunts and mockery.
He didn't care if he was insulted... but it was another story when it came to his Pokémon or his younger brother.
"Okay, that's enough... Who gave you the right to insult our Pokémon just because they look small?" Isamu demanded as Lt. Surge smirked.
"Oh, I'll show you... Go, Pokéballs!" Lt. Surge took out two Pokéballs before sending them out as they revealed themselves to be...
"Rai!"
"Jolt!"
"It's a Raichu... and a Jolteon!" Ash gasped as he took out his Pokédex to scan Raichu, while Isamu took out his to scan Jolteon.
"Raichu. A Mouse Pokémon of the Electric Type. Raichu is the evolved form of Pikachu. It can shock with more than 100,000 volts, enough to render a Dragonite unconscious." Ash's Pokédex explained.
"Jolteon, the Lightning Pokémon, and the evolved form of Eevee. When angered or frightened, the hairs on Jolteon's body becomes like needles that are fired at its opponents. It absorbs charged atoms and can produce 10,000 volts of electricity." Isamu's Pokédex explained.
"Chu..." Pikachu glared at his evolved form opponent, who smirked smugly at him.
Jolteon remained unfazed as he glared at his pre-evolved form, while Eevee did the same. Unlike with Raichu, the Jolteon seemed to have a little respect for being challenged by the pre-evolved form.
"Okay, babies. If you want to quit, now's your chance." Lt. Surge taunted, as Raichu followed along with the same taunt.
"There's no way we're going to quit now." Ash assured with a growl while Lt. Surge chuckled in amusement.
"What could a baby like that do? If you kids just want to become Pokémon Masters, then you should make your Pokémon evolve as soon as you catch it." Lt. Surge smirked as Isamu narrowed his eyes before he scoffed.
"Is that what you did when you caught a Pikachu and an Eevee...? I'd say that's a dumb move." Isamu spoke sternly.
"What was that?" Lt. Surge glared as Isamu glared back at the Electric Type user.
"There's more to raising and training a Pokémon than forcing it to evolve it right away. You'd have to make the Pokémon stronger first and bond with it instead of forcing evolution. That's just going to cause a strain the bond you have with your Pokémon." Isamu explained sternly.
The Gym Trainers found this funny while Lt. Surge only smirked down at the elder Ketchum brother.
"Wrong, baby. Electric Pokémon are only useful once they've learned all their different Electric attacks. You keep them puny like that, it's no more than just some little pets." Lt. Surge shot back.
"...Is that right? Then I guess you were disgusted by the looks of Pikachu and Eevee, which made you want to evolve them immediately the moment you caught them... So much for a strong Gym Leader." Isamu huffed, causing Lt. Surge to drop his smirk.
"Watch your mouth, brat. You talk tough, but you might want to put your money where your mouth is..." Lt. Surge growled, as the Gym Trainers blinked, as they had never seen their Gym Leader act this way.
"I'm only stating the facts. The way you say that Electric Pokémon are useful once they've learned different Electric attacks... does that mean that you think Pokémon are useless if they don't have the specific attacks like you want them to?" Isamu continued on.
This time, Lt. Surge didn't have an answer as the question rather stunned him mentally, but he didn't show it on his face.
"Big bro..." Ash breathed out, surprised with the serious questions his brother was bringing out as Luna smiled a little in understanding.
"He's only saying this to defend himself... Eevee... and all the Pokémon that didn't evolve..." Luna thought as Misty and Brock frowned.
"Even if what Isamu is saying is true... can Pikachu and Eevee beat Raichu and Jolteon...?" Misty asked.
"I seriously doubt it. Especially if those two Pokémon knows all the Electric attacks." Brock commented with a frown.
"Powerful attacks aren't the only things required to win a battle. You'd have to have the smarts and strategies to win. Even a strong Pokémon has their weaknesses... so no matter how strong they are, even a weaker Pokémon can beat them." Isamu stated sternly.
"That's true..." Yellow agreed as she held Chuchu in her arms, while Chuchu stared in concern.
"Okay, babies... did you just come here to show us your little pets?" Lt. Surge taunted, reverting back to his smug and arrogant expression as Ash glared, not backing down from the challenge.
"We came here to earn a Thunder Badge." Ash grunted as Pikachu growled. The sudden aggressive look Pikachu had surprised Ash a little as he looked at his Electric Type partner in surprise.
"Pikachu...?"
"That's unusual. Pikachu really wants to go into battle..." Brock pointed out while Misty narrowed her eyes.
"I'm not surprised." She said as Ash smiled.
"Pikachu, I'm counting on you." Ash said, as Pikachu nodded while stepping up to the plate to face off against his evolved form.
"Pikachu..." growled the Mouse Pokémon.
"Oh, well. I guess you'll learn that playing with the big boys can be a shocking experience." Lt. Surge smirked as he and Raichu got ready to battle as well. Jolteon was on standby as he watched with the Gym Trainers for the Gym Battle to begin.
Knowing how serious Ash and Pikachu were together, the elder Ketchum brother decided to let his brother have the first battle as he and the others watched the two sides prepare for the match.
The lights were on and the Gym Trainers got ready to referee the match as the man made the announcement of the two Trainers and Pokémon entering battle.
"The Pokémon battle will now begin. Only one Pokémon may be used. The Gym Leader, Lieutenant Surge, has chosen Raichu. The challenger, Ash, has chosen Pikachu. No time limit. Let the battle begin!" The man called as the bell rang to start the battle.
Lt. Surge: Raichu VS Ash: Pikachu
"Go, Raichu!" Lt. Surge called out as Raichu rushed to the battlefield, as Ash called out Pikachu to do the same.
"Go, Pikachu!" Ash yelled as the two Mouse Pokémon got ready to make the first strikes at each other. And Ash made the initiative by calling out the first attack to land the first blow.
"Pikachu, Thunder Shock!" Ash yelled as Pikachu wasted no time doing so. But as the attack made contact, Raichu continued to charge with a smug look on his face! That alarmed both Ash and Pikachu as it seemed like Raichu took no damage!
"Pi!?"
"What's that!?" The two gasped as Lt. Surge made the next move.
"Raichu, show them a real Thunder Shock!"
And the evolved Mouse Pokémon wasted no time doing so, as it unleashed a much more powerful Electric Type attack! The move shocked Pikachu hard, shocking the group except for Isamu, who narrowed his eyes at the sight.
As for Pikachu, the Mouse Pokémon tumbled back, already badly wounded from the big shock he's taken from the superior Electric Type attack.
"It's over, baby. You didn't really think that Pikachu could beat my Raichu, did you?" Lt. Surge chuckled as Ash bit his lips, seeing how much damage his Electric Type partner has taken with just one attack.
"Pikachu..."
"Call it back, Ash!" Brock called out, much to the younger brother's surprise.
"But...!"
"He's right, Ash! With just one attack... Pikachu took so much damage even if it wasn't very effective! If Raichu does another attack that's even stronger than that Thunder Shock, then he could end up in a far worse condition than how the other Pokémon has taken it!" Luna reminded him.
The younger Ketchum brother widened his eyes, remembering on how the injured Pokémon were taken to the Pokémon Center as he grunted before calling Pikachu back to forfeit the match.
"Pikachu, return." Ash called out, but to his and the others' surprise, Pikachu weakly got up and shook his head.
"Pikachu!?" Ash exclaimed in surprise as the others couldn't believe it, either.
"Pikachu still wants to fight?" Misty questioned in disbelief as the Mouse Pokémon got back up before continuing to face Raichu, which left the evolved Electric Type amused that its pre-evolved form would want to continue with the farce.
"It's pretty gutsy for a toy." Lt. Surge smirked as Pikachu growled before trying to charge at Raichu!
"Pikachu!" Ash gasped, trying to stop his partner. But it was already too late as Lt. Surge got ready to wrap things up with a few more devastating attacks.
"I enjoy playing with toys, but playtime's over! Raichu, Mega Punch!" Lt. Surge yelled as Raichu did so, delivering a big punch to Pikachu's cheek! The Mouse Pokémon screeched in pain, but that wasn't the only time as the Electric Type user wasn't done.
"Now a Mega Kick!"
And after a big punch, came a big kick that knocked Pikachu down!
"Pikachu!" Ash gasped, as he watched his Electric Type partner get beaten down no matter how many times he tried to get up.
"That's just cruel. Lt. Surge is just playing around like this is some sort of a game to him..." Luna commented with a dread look on her face as Isamu narrowed his eyes.
"That's because he thinks this is a game... Beating challengers and brutally beating their Pokémon is just some hobby for him... He probably enjoys it too, by taking advantage of this as the Gym Leader of the Vermilion Gym." Isamu said sternly.
"But that's just wrong, then!" Yellow exclaimed as Brock and Misty frowned as well.
They knew how right their friends were, and with the beating Pikachu was taking, the Mouse Pokémon was only going to get a one way ticket to the hospital to join with the other injured patients.
"Now, give us the big finale, Raichu." Lt. Surge smirked as Raichu did so, unleashing a big Electric attack! There was no time for the pre-evolved Mouse Pokémon to dodge as he gasped before he took the big hit!
"Pikachu!" Ash screamed as Pikachu screamed in pain from the powerful attack.
And with that, it was lights out for the Mouse Pokémon as he fell to the ground in defeat.
"Pikachu is unable to continue! The winner of this match is Lt. Surge and Raichu!" The man announced the results of the battle, causing the Electric Gym Leader and his partner to smirk together smugly for the 17th victory in a row.
Winner: Lt. Surge
"Pikachu!" Ash spoke as he held his defeated Pokémon in his arms before he glared at the Gym Leader and his partner.
"...Ash. Get Pikachu to the Pokémon Center, quick. Misty? Brock?" Isamu turned to his two friends, as they nodded in understanding before they accompanied the younger Ketchum brother out of the Gym.
Luna bit her lips, before she and Isamu glared to where the Gym Leader stood.
"Heh... That was too easy. I'll admit on while the toy had some guts, it was still a little baby to the end." Lt. Surge said smugly as Luna snapped.
"That's enough! You've gone way too far with that, Lt. Surge! Is this just a game to you!?" Luna snapped as the Gym Leader rose a brow.
"A game? Well, if the challengers are simply too weak to beat me, then yeah... What? You got a little problem with that, little lady?" Lt. Surge smirked as Luna widened her eyes in disbelief before she glared.
However, that was when Isamu intervened with a stern look on his face. Eevee growled, having the desire to avenge her Electric Type friend as her human partner made the harsh call.
"Actually, we do have a big problem with it. You're too brutal and violent in your battles. And we'd like to put a stop to that... right now." Isamu spoke as Lt. Surge narrowed his eyes in amusement.
"Oh? Is that so?"
"Yes. And that's why we have a proposal. Luna and I are going to battle you... at the same time! But here's the thing... The two of us will only use one Pokémon each. You, on the other hand, are allowed to use two of your Pokémon to make things more fair." Isamu declared boldly.
"Oh? A Multi Battle, eh? Interesting... So by beating you two, I get to kill two birds with one stone." Lt. Surge smirked as Luna glared back.
"Not only if the birds end up defeating the stone together." Luna countered as she and Isamu stood together, while Lt. Surge stood alone on the battlefield with his arms folded.
"Alright, kids... You want to battle me like that? Then fine. I accept your little challenge. But I assure you, that once this battle is over, you're gonna wish you never challenged me like this!" Lt. Surge declared arrogantly.

Lt. Surge: HA! You think you babies can scare me? Evolving is the best way to make a Pokémon stronger! That Pikachu was just a runt!
Isamu: And you're a complete fool to believe evolution is best for getting stronger, which isn't the only way to do it!
Luna: And unlike Misty and Brock, they seem to care about their opponent's Pokémon, while you on the other hand, don't care even for a second!
Lt. Surge: And why should I care? It's the Trainers' fault for making their Pokémon be so weak and challenging me when they should've just ran!
Isamu: Well, that's all about to change, once we're done defeating you and taking your stupid pride down... Get ready!
