Chapter 13: Rescuing the Rescuers
The rescue sentai team, GoGo V, were relaxing at their rescue station. Being the go-to rescue team in Toku Town was a duty they performed gladly, but it was hard when so many mooks that helped perform some basic services around town were either accident-prone or just plain clumsy (Hey. Mooks gotta find a way to be useful after the show wraps up, right?). It would be nice to receive some extra help for a change.
"Maybe we should look into recruiting other sentai members to join our rescue operations?" GoGreen suggested. "It couldn't hurt to ask, right?"
"True." GoBlue nodded. "But you forget, a lot of their mecha are more suited for combat or personal travel rather than rescue work."
"Well we're going to need someone to help us out." GoYellow sighed. "It'd be easier to perform rescues with more people than just our five-man band."
"Yeah." GoPink chimed in. "At this rate, there's going to be more rescues than we can possibly respond to! At this point, someone's going to need to rescue us instead!"
"And that would spell trouble for everyone." GoRed said. Scratching his helmet in thought. "Well, there's no harm in putting up a 'Help Wanted' sign and putting up flyers around town. If anyone wants to lend a hand, they'll know we'll gladly accept any help they can give. Especially when it comes to firefighting. It's kind of hard when we only have three vehicles dedicated for that purpose. And if the fliers fail, well, we'll just wish upon a star for the extra help."
Sure enough, the sentai had created the fliers alongside want ads in the papers and on the net. Unfortunately, not many of Toku Town's denizens had stopped by or even asked about the position's details. With no sign of future help arriving, GoGoV let out a sigh of defeat. It was then that Fourze stopped by and noticed the glum mood coming from the sentai.
"You all seem a bit deflated. What's up?" Fourze asked.
"We put out an ad for extra help with our rescues." GoBlue answered. "Unfortunately, no one really answered the call. And we aren't taking any mooks because they'd likely make things worse due to how accident prone, they are. I can't count the number of mook rescues we've had to perform over the years!"
"And it also doesn't help we're the only firefighting team to boot." GoRed sighed. "We're dependable, sure. But we can only be in so many places at once!"
"Hmm." Fourze scratched his head before a lightbulb went off in his mind. "I've got just the thing to help you guys!"
"Is it your Fire States?" GoPink asked. "Because that could be a big help with firefighting!"
"No. But I'd happily help you guys out any time you ask!" Fourze chuckled as he flipped on one of his astroswitches!
"ROCKET ON!" The switch announced as a bright orange rocket encased Fourze's hand!
"I'll be right back!" Fourze called out as he rocketed off into the sky! A minute later, Fourze returned to Earth with a bright star in his free hand! "Here we go! A wishing star! These things are pretty rare, but they're guaranteed to make any wish made on them come true!"
Fourze casually held out the wishing star for the rescue sentai to take, but all they could do was just stand there stunned. They never expected to find a literal wishing star before them! But all the same, there it was. Right in front of their eyes and ready to be wished upon.
"Uh, hello?" Fourze waved his hand in front of GoGoV's faces to see if they were still in the real world. "I can take it back if you want."
"O-Oh! No, Fourze! No need!" GoGreen waved his arms frantically! "It's perfect! Just what we were looking for actually!"
"Yes! Yes indeed!" GoYellow nodded as he scooted Fourze away with the help of GoPink!
"Thanks for the star!" GoPink cheered as she waved farewell to the Kamen Rider. "We'll be sure to use it right away!"
Satisfied that all was well, Fourze rocketed away! Leaving the rescue sentai to gaze upon the wishing star. A full minute passed before GoRed broke the silence.
"All right everyone. We make this wish as a team!" GoRed declared! "Put your hands on the star!"
Each member of the sentai did so without hesitation. The star seemed to glow even brighter in response to their unity!
"We wish to get the extra help we need to handle our town's emergencies!" GoGoV declared in unison!
The wishing star shined brightly for a moment before shooting up into the sky! Returning to the heavens where it belonged! GoGoV looked around for any sign of the help they wished for, but there was still no one in sight.
"Maybe it takes some time for the wish to take effect?" GoGreen suggested.
"If not, we'll just carry on like we usually do." GoRed sighed. "Come on, let's call it a day. No telling what might come tomorrow. Who knows? It might be a slow day."
It wasn't. By the time morning came around, emergencies had happened all over Toku Town! There was explosion in Kamen Rider Build's lab, an office building full of mooks was on fire, one of the many mecha based on big cats had gotten stuck in a tree, and several kaiju had injuries from a brawl that had gotten out of hand way too fast! Each member of GoGoV was scrambling to one of the incidents, but this spread them way too thin to deal with everything effectively! It seemed as though the rescue sentai were finally in a situation where there was more than they could handle!
That is, until two new groups of heroes showed up to lend a hand. With their assistance, the situation quickly became more manageable. It wasn't long before the emergencies all over town were swiftly and safely handled. GoGoV led the two new groups of rescuers back to their station.
"We can't thank you enough for your help out there today!" GoPink thanked the new heroes. "But, who are you?"
"Oh! How rude of us!" One of the orange-suited heroes said before saluting! "We're Rescue Force and Rescue Fire! We saw your ads and decided to answer the call! We've been explicitly trained for rescue operations and firefighting! We hope to get along well with all of you!"
GoRed calmly stepped forward before falling to his knees as he shook the hands of both new rescue teams' leaders!
"Thank you! You have no idea how overwhelmed we've been getting lately!" GoRed sobbed with joy! "We would've been happy with just a sixth sentai member, but this is more than we could have hoped for!"
At that moment, back in Rangerville, the Titanium Ranger sneezed.
