Chapter 13: Heading to the beach
After having their rest in the Pokemon Center, Ash, Serena and Aurora go to the Pokemon Photographer as they go to check out the Pokemon there. They also get a lot of stones as rewards there as they manage to evolve some of the Pokemon in their party.
First is the Moon Stone, after obtaining it, Serena uses it on Lunapup, causing it to evolve into a wolf like Pokemon.
Herolune: The Vigilant Pokémon: Ground and Fighting Type. Evolved from Lunapup with a Moon Stone. It rises with the moon to do battle with its sworn nemesis, Vilucard. It has a strong sense of justice and will protect those who cannot defend themselves.
"Herolune looks really cool." Ash says to Serena, who nods and says, "Yeah. I really like the design of this Pokemon."
The next one they get is a Water Stone, which Serena also uses it on Lombre, who evolves into a Ludicolo.
Ludicolo: The Carefree Pokemon: Water and Grass Type. Evolved from Lombre with a Water Stone. When it hears festive music, all the cells in its body become stimulated, and it begins moving in rhythm. it does not quail even when it faces a tough opponent.
And finally, Ash also evolves his newly Minyan into the bat like Pokemon with the Dusk Stone.
Vilucard: The Villainous Pokémon: Dark and Poison Type. Evolved from Minyan with a Dusk Stone. It constantly plots dastardly schemes to spread chaos and fear. However, its plans are always foiled by Herolune.
"So my Pokemon is a villain while your Pokemon is a vigilante? That is quite interesting." Ash says.
"Yeah. I wonder why they act like that, though..." Serena says.
As for the other stones, they decide to keep it until they are able to find Pokemon that can evolve with the stones, and of course, Team Rocket tries to steal those stones, only to fail as they are blasting off again even though Herolune and Vilucard refuse to work with each other.
Now they are back at Route 6 as there are no Owten blocking the path. The path has a lot of steep and rocky mountainous ledges surrounds the lush green valleys with crystal clear ponds. They seem to be enjoying the view as they manage to find the fork of the path.
"So which way should we go?" Serena asks Aurora.
"If we go left, we will be at Legen Town, which is not the place we are going, so we should go right, to the Rochfale Tunnel."
As they go inside the tunnel, they see that the cave is quite short and dark. Just then, they hear a large sound as they go check it out, they see a Pokemon drilling a hole onto the grouond.
"What is that Pokemon?" Ash asks Aurora, who replies, "This is a Modrille. It is a Ground and Dark Type Pokemon who is actually hard to catch."
"Just look at the beak...it looks really like a drill." Serena says.
"I am going to catch it." Ash says as he takes out a Pokeball, "Gliscor, I choose you."
But just as the Pokemon is being sent out, it lands on Ash, causing him to fall down to the floor. "Not again..." Ash mutters.
"Ash? Are you okay?" Serena asks in worry after getting Gliscor off him. Aurora says, "That sure is an interesting Gliscor..."
Gliscor gives them a wink and Ash says, "Okay, Gliscor, we are going to catch that Pokemon, use X-Scissor."
After Gliscor goes to battle the Modrille, Serena asks Aurora, "What is that wink about?"
"I don't know. It seems like this Gliscor is either special or weird..." Aurora replies.
After landing another X-Scissor, the Drill Pokemon faints and Ash uses the chance to capture the Pokemon. But it gets out for 3 times until Ash manages to capture it in the end.
Modrille: The Drill Pokemon: Ground and Dark Type. Modrille hate being confined within any space and will always drill their way out of it. Trainers are advised to keep spare Poké Balls on hand.
"I can't believe that this Pokemon is really hard to catch..." Ash groans a little. "I wasted a lot of Pokeballs..."
"Don't worry." Serena says, "But I never knew you have a Gliscor."
"Well, I had it as a Gligar, it was very emotional as a Gligar and after being defeated by Gliscor, it has been afraid of battling. Thanks to Gary, remember? Our Childhood friend who is the grandson of Professor Oak."
"I know, he is quite arrogant and he likes to flirt." Serena says, "What about him?"
"Well, he gives me a Razor Fang and I use it on Gliscor, it is how it evolves." Ash says, "Speaking of Gary, he is now training to be a Professor like his grandfather."
"That is good to know." Serena says.
Then they also notice a Pokemon they are really familiar with. Ash says, "Cool, a Sableye."
"If I remember, it is one of the Pokemon that comes from Hoenn, right?" Serena asks.
"Yeah, it is a Ghost Type Pokemon, but don't worry, their food is the rocks and I heard that it can also Mega Evolve as well." Ash says.
"Then I think I want to catch it." Serena says as she sends out Fortog to battle the Sableye. But with the Power Gem and Shadow Sneak, it is really hard to aim. In the end, Fortog evolves and it is able to defeat it.
Folerog: The Long Toad Pokemon: Water and Poison Type. Evolved from Fortog at LV:18. Folerog can't swim but they need to remain damp to survive, so they are found in grasslands next to rivers and lakes.
Sableye: The Darkness Pokemon: Dark and Ghost Type. It digs branching holes in caves using its sharp claws in search of food-raw gems. A SABLEYE lurks in darkness and is seen only rarely.
After getting out of the cave, they are in awe as they are now at a beach. "Wow...I can't believe we are now at the ocean..." Serena says.
"Yeah...come to think of it, it sure is pretty here. And I can see Bealbeach City over there." Ash says as he looks at the city up ahead.
"Why this is your first time here in this Route?" They turn around and see a female Ninja standing there. "Who are you?"
"I am Ayumi, a ninja in training from the Tsukinami Village of East Tandor." She says as she bows at them. Ash asks, "Wait, are you perhaps related to Miki?"
"It seems like you know my sister." Ayumi says with a nod. "Then she must have told you that there are six of us in a family, right?"
"Yes, if Miki is the one that helps with the Attack stat, then what about you?"
"I am the one with the Speed Stat. From the look at your Pikachu, I can tell it is speedy, right?"
"You're right." Ash says. "Its speed has been a help in a lot of our battles."
Then she offers to train the Pikachu and the other Pokemon with speed, and they did a good job with the speed.
At the same time, Team Rocket are fishing by the shore as they are thinking how to get close to the twerps, just then, James' rod is shaking and he says, "I got a catch!"
"Way to go! James." Meowth says, but the power is so strong that James can't hold it, so both Jessie, James, and even Wobbuffet helps him until a Pokemon is fished out of the water.
"What the hell is that?" Before Jessie can ask for more, the Pokemon bites her hair as she starts to yell. "Hey, let go of me!"
James looks at his Pokedex and says, "It is a Tubjaw...A Water and Dark Type Pokemon with the strong jaws."
Just as the fish Pokemon bites off Jessie's hair, the other three are paled as Jessie goes into her angry mode and she starts using Close Combat on the fish, causing it to faint.
"Jessie used Close Combat..." James says.
"And it is super effective..." Meowth says with the same look of horror. Jessie realizes that the Pokemon has fainted, and she quickly captures it. "I caught a new Pokemon!"
James, Meowth and Wobbuffet look at each other and James says, "Well...now she is back to normal..."
Back at Ash's group, they have bid farewell with Ayumi as they continue to rest on the beach. Ash notices a Coconut and he asks, "Alice, are you thirsty? How about we have some coconuts?"
"Well, I will like to." Serena says, but just as they are under the Coconut tree, they shake the tree and then two coconuts fall. But as they look at the ground, they find that there are three of them.
"Since when there is a third one?" Serena asks in confusion, until it shows its green body, much to Serena's surprise. Aurora says, "That is a Cocoran. It is actually a Grass Type Pokemon that lives in the beach."
"What is it doing here?" Ash asks, "But never mind that, I am going to capture it."
Ash sends out Magikarp, much to the two female's surprise, but with the trust of Ash, it evolves into a Gyarados and it manages to use Bite to trap the Pokemon, capturing it in the end.
Gyarados: The Atrocious Pokémon: Water and Flying Type. Evolved from Magikarp at LV:20. It is an extremely vicious and violent Pokemon. When humans begin to fight, it will appear and burn everything to the ground with intensely hot flames.
"Ash, just how many times are you going to be this reckless?" Serena sighs after seeing how Gyarados is showing affection to him. Then he also scans his newly capture.
Cocoran: The Coconut Pokemon: Grass and Ground Type. When Cocoran retracts its eyes and legs, it is almost indistinguishable from a coconut. Their shells are very buoyant, so they float in water.
After the battle, Ash and Serena start to slurp on the coconut and Ash says, "This coconut sure is fresh."
"I know. I also feel refreshed..." Serena says.
Then they also notice a Corsola walking past, and Ash says, "Hey, Serena. Remember the time when you tried to capture a Corsola back in Ambrette Town?"
"I do, but you know. The reason it ran away because Fennekin refuses to battle against a Water Type like Corsola, so this time I am not going to make the same mistake." Serena says as she takes out Owten.
"You said that I made a mistake on using Magikarp on a Grass Type like Cocoran, then why are you doing the same by using Owten on a Rock Type like Corsola?" Ash asks with a smirk.
"Maybe I was affected by you." Serena says with a smirk as she battles the Pokemon. Eventually the owl evolves and it defeats the Corsola, making Serena capture the Pokemon.
Eshouten: The Observer Pokemon: Normal and Flying Type. Evolved from Owten at LV:20. Eshouten are shy and elusive, found only at night around mountains. Their incredible eyesight allows them to see clearly up to a mile away.
"But Eshouten is quite cool if you ask me." Aurora says.
Corsola: The Coral Pokemon: Water and Rock Type. They prefer unpolluted southern seas. Their coral branches lose their color and deteriorate in dirty water.
As for Ash's Pokemon, Feleng is yawning until she notices a snail like Pokemon, it tries to scare it away, but it makes worse as the snail uses Magnitude, which shocks everyone in present.
"Feleng? What did you just do?" Ash asks, and the cat Pokemon points at the snail. "Oh, it is a Cassnail." Aurora says, "It must be using Magnitude."
Ash decides to use Feleng to capture the Pokemon, but the kitten doesn't like water as it was enraged a little. Eventually it evolves and uses Low Kick to defeat it.
Felunge: The Nimble Cat Pokémon: Normal Type. Evolved from Feleng at LV:19. Felunge are expert hunters, able to see in very low light and move without a sound. Many people keep them to deter pests such as Chyinmunk.
Cassnail: The Castle Pokémon: Ground and Water Type. It dissolves minerals in sand and uses them to form a hard carapace on its back. It lives in coastal regions.
They also decide to do some more training until some of their Pokemon evolve, like Ash's Pahar, which learns the Flame Burst after evolving.
Palij: The Fire Parrot Pokemon: Fire and Flying Type. Evolved from Palij at LV:19. Palij's curiously-shaped feathers allow it to create friction in the air as it flaps its wings. Sparks trail off of its feathers when it flies.
And the next one is Serena's Sponee, who evolves into a blue spider like Pokemon just after learning Bubble Beam.
Sponaree: The Sponge Pokemon: Bug and Water Type. Evolved from Sponee by learning Bubble Beam. The sponge-like skin of this Pokémon is found in all parts of the ocean. How this Pokémon survives in salt water is a mystery.
Just then, a net flies down and it captures all the Pokemon Ash and Serena have. And they notice the familiar balloon as they all groan.
"Why don't you guys just give up?" Ash says.
"We have come back even stronger, you won't be standing a chance." Jessie says as she sends out Tubjaw while James sends out his Tanscure.
"What are those?" Serena scans the two Pokemon.
Tanscure: The Racoon Wolf Pokemon: Dark and Normal Type. Evolved from Tancoon at LV:18. In the wild Tanscure live in packs. They cooperate with their packmates to hunt for food and care for Tancoon.
Tubjaw: The Jaw Pokemon: Water and Dark Type. Tubjaw are able to unhinge their jaws in order to swallow prey larger than their head. Their teeth are sharper than razors.
Serena looks terrified at the sight of the Water Type Pokemon, James says, "Now we will be taking our leaving."
"No you won't." Ash yells as suddenly his hand shows a Whip, and it slams on the Tubjaw and the Tanscure, causing them to faint. "Hey, where did that weapon come from?"
"No fair! That is cheating!" James says.
"Why should I play fair with cheaters like you guys?" Ash says as he spins the whip, causing the Leaf Storm to form and then it breaks the net, not only that, the wind also blasts their balloon and they yell, "We're blasting off again!"
After they are gone, Serena asks, "Is that your new Aura Power?"
"I guess so, it is for Grass Type..." Ash says as he puts the whip away and they continue to go towards the Bealbeach City.
In this chapter, there are a lot of new Pokemon. And I hope you like the fact that Jessie uses Close Combat on the Tubjaw to capture it, like she did to Seviper.
