Last chapter and some references to my Sacrifice AU.

--BEGIN--

Sam slipped between the covers and allowed Jack to pull her against him, tucking her back against his front.

"Do you think they made it?" Sam glanced over her shoulder to look at him.

"We're still here," he said, sliding the strap of her nightgown down to kiss her bare shoulder. "I'd say that's proof that we, they, made it back."

"But nothing is different," she sighed as he brushed her hair back and trailed his lips to her neck.

"Would we know if it was?" He nudged her onto her back, so he could see her face.

"I don't know," she cupped his cheek with her hand. "I'd like to think so."

"You still almost married the shrub," Jack sighed. "Apparently, I couldn't change that."

"Enough talk about Pete," she shushed, pressing her finger against his lips. "I'd much rather you focus on me while we're in bed."

"Yes, ma'am," Jack agreed, kissing her enthusiastically.

OoooOoooOoooO

The dream tore Sam out of a deep sleep. The feelings had been so real, the events extremely detailed.

Sitting up, she pushed back the covers and swung her legs over the side of the bed. P9X-789. Dias de Amor. She had been anchored to an alter. Jack with her. Protecting her, shielding her.

Sam flushed at the...memory?

"Sam!" Jack growled, sitting straight up. His eyes wild from dreaming, landed on her as she turned toward him. "P9X-789. We—" he squeezed his eyes shut. "Did we—in front of everyone—" he gulped as he became fully awake.

"Jack," Sam's voice cracked as she reached for his hand.

He tugged her against him, ran his hands over her body, assuring himself she was alright.

"Things are—" she paused, trying to straighten out what was truth versus what was dream.

"Different." Jack finished. "My memories—I have two sets."

"I remember our weddings," Sam looked at him, "both of our weddings. Before and now."

"I do, too," he said softly.

"Gracie," Sam started to sit up, but Jack held her firmly.

"Still Gracie," he placed a hand against her stomach and felt his son give a sharp kick against his hand. "Our family is still here. I can feel that. Can you?"

Sam nodded. "They did it," she said with awe. "I remember Pete, but I don't remember him now, in this new lifetime," she tried to explain.

"They erased him," Jack couldn't help the smile from his voice. "You never even met him."

"I married you," she gasped. "Dad—"

"Is alive," Jack hugged her tightly as a new wave of memories surged through him. "Janet—"

"Oh my god, Jack, Janet's alive," Sam flew to her feet, grasping her cell phone off the nightstand. Scrolling through the contacts, she found Janet's name and hit the send button.

"Sam?" Janet's sleepy voice answered on the first ring. "Honey, it's 3am."

"Janet," Sam's voice cracked as a sob escaped.

"Sam?" Janet's voice was awake now, more forceful, "what's going on? Are you alright?"

Jack swiped the phone as gingerly as possible from Sam's grip. "Janet, we're fine," his voice was gruff, but he forced himself to speak calmly. "Sam just had a bad dream, called you before she completely woke up. We'll talk to you in the morning," he bid her good night and ended the call.

"Jack," Sam started pacing the bedroom, "what else do you remember or not remember?"

"The big things, right?" When she nodded, he continued, "armbands, Za'tarc."

"Still happened," she confirmed. "Ba'al?"

"Unfortunately," he cringed at the still-there memory. "Atlantis?"

"I was commander for a year," she cocked her head. "Daniel?"

"Still ascended."

"Twice," they both added at the same time, grinning.

"P9X-789," Jack said gently.

"That one is definitely new," she frowned. "Not a dream," she said out loud, making it feel more real to both of them.

"Oh boy," Jack let out a breath.

"What?" Sam asked warily.

"Daniel had to live through that in this timeline," Jack shook his head.

Sam turned bright red, "maybe we don't mention the alternative to him."

"Will he remember helping us, Carter and O'Neill?" Jack wondered, but grabbed his own phone and started dialing.

"What?" Daniel's sleep-deprived voice answered with a touch of ire.

"What did you do today?" Jack asked quickly.

"Huh?" Daniel groaned. "Translated that text Sam sent me. Her translation was spot on, by the way. Gracie and I played with her dolls. Why?"

"Nothing unusual happened?" Jack prodded.

"Not unless you count Vala playing fashionista with Barbie and Ken," Daniel yawned. "Was something supposed to happen?"

"Nope," Jack hurried, "just double-checking. Go back to sleep." He hung up the phone and turned back to Sam. "Daniel doesn't remember anything."

"How is that even possible?!" Sam started pacing again. "The laws of physics don't work like that."

"I remember someone rewriting those laws once before," he stepped in front of her path, forcing her to stop.

"Wait! I...remember," she rushed over to the bookshelf in the bedroom and pulled out several leather-bound books. Carrying them to the bed, she leafed through them, revealing pages and pages of handwriting.

"You journal?" Jack arched an eyebrow.

"No," Sam grinned, "but Carter must have known we'd need a way to figure out what changed."

"Damn you are brilliant," Jack grinned.

She handed him a journal. "Jack and Sam the early years, let's get to reading."
