Phobia Factor
The camera fades in to view of Wawanakwa, like last time, with Chris on the Dock of Shame. "Last time on Total Drama Island…"
The next scene shows the Gophers all standing beside a tall tree, their campsite, followed by the Bass setting up their tent. "The campers had their survival skills put to the test. They spend the entire night camping in the woods."
The next scene shows Amy yelling at Cody and Monica for finding out that she was impersonating Sammy. "Amy's facade of Samey was nearly exposed when two of her teammates put two and two together."
The next scenes show Duncan telling everyone his scary story, followed by many of the campers holding onto each other. "Duncan's mad ghost storytelling skills freaked out the Killer Bass…" Chris chuckled.
The next scenes showed two bears attacking both camps. "And uh, two bears separately attacked the two bases…"
The next scenes showed the Bass' camp getting ransacked, followed by a black bunny attacking the bear. "One bear totally destroyed the Bass' camp, only to get whacked out by a mysterious black bunny!"
The next scenes showed another bear chasing the Gophers to the tree, followed by the Tom, Andie, and 'Sammy' shoving, 'Sammy' and Cody getting thrown to the ground, 'Sammy' shoving Cody in front of the bear, and Tom getting thrown to the ground. "The other bear chased the Gophers up a tree, and the Gophers ended up sacrificing Cody to get mauled!"
The next scenes showed Winston wrestling the bear, followed by Cody getting bandaged up. "But thanks to Winston wrestling the bear to the ground, Cody was nursed back to health! ...Or at least he was bandaged to prevent any further injury."
The next scenes showed both bears roaring at the Gophers, and then them running back up the tree. "Unfortunately, both bears showed back up, and the Gophers ended up stuck in a tree, again."
The next scenes show Cody wetting himself, followed by the teams getting rained on, "Cody peed in his pants, and then it rained. Basically, no one got any sleep last night."
The next scenes show the Gophers at the ceremony, followed by Andie leaving the Dock of Shame, with Cody in pursuit. "Ultimately, the Screaming Gophers were the ones on the chopping block, leaving Andie without a marshmallow."
The next scene showed Chris, who was 'putting' out a campfire with his stick, then beating it on his hand. "Yup, the challenge was rough all right. And if I have anything to say about it, today's will be even more brutal. Luckily, I do. What fresh horror do we have planned for our campers? Find out next on, Total. Drama. Island!" Each pause, like the last time, the camera zoomed out to reveal a panorama of Wawanakwa.
*INTRO*
The camera showed the night sky overhead Wawanakwa, followed by the Gophers sitting by the fire. They were too tired from staying up on the tree the night before.
"I'm soooo tired…" moaned Emma.
"Tell me 'bout it…" agreed Monica.
Just then, they hear Cody arrive in front of them. He was still dejected from not being able to get a chance to talk to Andie before she left.
"You feelin' good, dawg?" asked Winston.
"No…" sighed Cody, "It's just… I didn't get to say goodbye to Andie…"
"Well, she had it coming anyways." said a blunt Tom, "She made her bed, she can sleep in it." A few fellow teammates nodded in approval.
"I get it…" Cody sighed again, "She's not a great person. She read Chelsea's diary, then she tried to throw Tom down to the bear…" Tom nodded with him… "But, can I say this? I think I have a crush on her…"
"Oooh, good to know…" mocked Tom, earning him a glare from Cody. Tom noticed this glare. "Come on! You said it yourself; she humiliated the girl on the other team, she tried to get you, me, and Sammy killed… Do NOT tell me that behavior is acceptable in society!"
"Well, I, uh… I…" Cody tried to say something, but he couldn't.
"He has a point, man," Winston piped up, "I know you and her had some kinda bridge over the gap, but let's face it. She's a jank AF hoe. What kinda dude like you'd wanna end up with some skank like her?"
*CONFESSIONALS: Winston & Cody*
Winston: Code-bone's wussin' over that damned chick… (scoffs) Hey, if that fool ends up with her, they'd be hitched in the streets, like my Auntie Jayma… He'll thank me later when he gets it.
Cody: I'll repeat what I said before, I hated what Andie did, but that doesn't mean she's totally bad. She just… y'know, needs to get her acts together.
*END CONFESSIONALS*
The Gophers sat along the roaring fire, still tired. Just then, they hear more footsteps. Looking up, they see the Killer Bass, with Kitty holding out a plate of jello with a gummy spider inside it.
"What do you guys want?" Jasmine hissed, "Come to rub it in?"
"We got some extra dessert from our tuck shop party." Duncan told them, "Thought you might want some."
Emma looked over to Kitty, "Kit, be honest. What really happened?"
Chelsea stepped in front of Harold and Sam, "Okay, these two morons decided to see who could belch the loudest and we need time to air our place out."
"So they chunk'd the whole place?" asked Winston.
"In a way, yes." Chelsea looked around and noticed a certain redheaded rebel gone, "You got rid of that stupid brod?" Some of the Gophers nodded. "Good riddance…" Chelsea murmured as she went to take a seat somewhere.
Kitty went up to Emma, to which Emma noticed the spider inside the jello. "AUGH! SPIDER!" yelled the law school hopeful, as she slapped the plate away, which ended up landing on top of Chelsea.
"Oh brother…" she seethed, trying to restrain her anger as much as possible.
"It was just a gummy spider, Emma." Kitty admonished her older sister.
Cody looked over to the law school hopeful, "You're afraid of spiders?" he asked her.
"Yeah…" sighed Emma, "Ever since I was a little kid."
"Yo, dawg, I don't blame you." Winston told her, "Lightning always gets me riled up."
"You're afraid of lightning?" Monica asked the slum boy, to which he nodded.
*CONFESSIONAL: Chelsea*
Chelsea: So, for some reason, this became some kind of confession circle for who's biggest fear is… Tom was babbling about his fear of bats, Harold, somehow, is afraid of ninjas… And even Jasmine's afraid of small spaces!
*END CONFESSIONAL*
The next scene shows all of the contestants on both teams sitting around the campfire.
"Soooo… my biggest fear would have to be… dolls." Chelsea told the contestants.
"You're afraid of dolls?" snickered Duncan.
"Shut up!" Chelsea snarled, "They've been bothering me since I was a kid!"
"That's sad…" said Sam, "If I were to say what my fear would be, it'd be haunted houses. They're some crazy stuff."
"I'm afraid of being ugly." Kitty admitted, "It's embarrassing if I see myself look like a troll…"
Emma rolled her eyes, "Kit, you overreact…"
"Easy for you to say," Kitty argued, "I'm not the one whose scared of going up in our attic!"
The camera shows Bridgette, "Being left alone in the woods." she said.
The camera shows Monica, who was contemplating, "There are a couple that stand out… But if I had to choose one, it'd be being naked in public."
Devin looked at her, suspiciously, "When were you naked in public?"
"Back on my thirteenth birthday, my brother dared me to strip down in a public square." Monica responded, "Everyone laughed at me and took pictures of me. Took me five weeks for my parents to convince me to finally come out of my closet."
"Sorry to hear about that." said Cody.
"What's your biggest fear?" asked Emma.
Cody poked his cheek, in a state of thought, "Having to defuse a time bomb under pressure."
"I have a boiler in my basement," said Ezekiel, "Whenever I go down to get some supplies for my parents, I always rush. Whenever that boiler turns on, it makes that low, rumbling noise that scares me…"
"There's a movie I like that has one particular scene that scares me…" said Benny.
"What is it?" asked Harold.
Benny looks around, "It's where there's a clown that makes an ugly, smiling face."
"Be specific." said Harold. This earned a leer from Ezekiel. "What? There's plenty of movies with different ugly clown faces!" The nerd argued.
Benny gulped, obviously shivering, "It's where the clown is cross-eyed, has buck-teeth, there's another tooth missing, and it looked like the clown had been crying. A-and his face was all sagging!"
"Oh I know what movie you're talking about!" Devin pointed out, "'Murder at Happytown!' Gotta love that movie!"
"Yeah, but not the scary clown…" Benny said with a shudder.
"If I had to say what my fear would be, it'd be falling." Devin admitted, "Heights I can deal with, but falling is something different."
"You were fine with the thousand foot jump!" argued Emma.
Devin chuckled guiltily, "I was just playing for the cameras…"
They hear a wicked laugh from offscreen. The contestants turn to see 'Sammy' laughing her ass off.
"What a loser!" she chortled, earning a bunch of glares from her fellow teammates.
"Sammy, stop that." Jasmine told her, sternly, "That's his biggest fear."
"Oh boo-hoo, cry me a river, we all die eventually." said Amy.
"If I were to guess… your fear is Ssss… Saxon." Monica suggested to her.
"How'd you know about cousin Saxon?!" Sammy got defensive towards the emo, making her flinch in fear.
"Well, Sammy, you were hallucinating earlier... and you were talking about this Saxon dude." Monica defended
"Oh, he's my cousin that I can't stand… He's seven years older than me, he has this crappy goal to make my life miserable as possible. He's my biggest fear, next to wasps!" 'Sammy' glared at Winston, who snickered. She was still not over what had happened a few nights ago."
"So… he and Amy are jerks to you at home?" asked Sam.
"I was gonna think you were afraid of your sister." suggested Bridgette.
"Ditto." said Kitty.
"Pfft… I'm not afraid of her!" Amy chuckled.
"Baloney!" Duncan could be heard coughing.
'Sammy' glared at the punk, "Oh yeah? Well what's your fear Mr. Gag-Me?" she asked.
Duncan looked around to see the rest of the contestants looking at him, curiously. He had three choices: 1) Stay silent, 2) Lie, 3) Be truthful. He made one of two choices after several seconds of silence.
"C-Celine Dion music store standees…" Duncan admitted.
"Haha, ex-squeeze me?!" laughed Cody, "I didn't quite get that!"
"You serious?" Sam asked, "You're afraid of Celine Dion music store standees?" Duncan hid his face when other people started oogling about Celine Dion.
"Oooh, I love Celine Dion!" exclaimed Kitty, "I especially love her song, 'My Heart Will Go On!'"
"Kitty and I love watching Titanic." said Emma.
"So if we had a cardboard standee of Celine right now…" taunted Chelsea.
"Shut up!" Duncan yelled, "Don't bother me anymore, bother Ennui! He hasn't said his worst fear yet!"
Everyone else stared at Ennui, who still had that trademark gargoyle look on his face. They all were wondering if he was afraid of something, or if he was truly brave. "I was afraid you were gonna ask me." he said.
Ennui let out a sigh, "I'm afraid of… being forced to… smile."
Everyone looked at him funny. Ennui just sat there, not even saying anything else. It only took a few more seconds for one of them to say something.
"I, uh… kinda don't blame you, Ennui." said Chelsea.
"You agree with the goth?" asked 'Sammy'.
"Well, I mean, maybe he has his reasons." said Chelsea, before turning to Ennui, "Do you?"
"Smiling is a way to masquerade people's true, inner feelings…" Ennui responded, "My parents want me to smile for occasions, when in actuality, there's nothing for me to smile about…"
Everyone started at Ennui again, but they said nothing else.
The scene transitions to a couple days later of a panorama of the island, before zooming in on the main hall.
Chris could be heard whistling something. "Campers," he announced as his back was facing the camera, "Your next challenge is a little game I like to call: Phobia Factor!"
Everyone frowned upon hearing this.
"Prepare to face… your worst fears!" Chris explained with lots of exposition.
"What'd you say?" asked a suspicious Winston.
"Great." said a defeated Jasmine, "Just great."
"Now, for our first victims!" Chris said, holding out a note behind his back, "Devin!" The host turned to the rest of the campers, "Meet us all in the theater! It's time to drop it!"
Devin's face turned white as a ghost. He knew what he was talking about.
"Jazz," Chris' voice was heard as the Aussie turned to face him, "You, me, the beach. A few tons of sand…" Jasmine gasped when she heard what she was about to go up against.
"Wha- how'd they know what our worst fears were?" asked Monica.
Jasmine facepalmed after thinking how, "Because we said it on camera…" she said.
"Exactly, a few nights ago at the campfire." agreed Devin.
*FLASHBACK*
"If I had to say what my fear would be, it'd be falling." said Devin.
*END OF FLASHBACK*
"Damn this reality show…" Devin muttered under his breath.
Chris turned to Chef Hatchet, "Chef, why don't you take Thomas on a trip…" He told him with sadistic intent.
The camera showed a horrified Tom.
*FLASHBACK*
"Tom was babbling about his fear of bats…" Chelsea said in the confessional.
*END OF FLASHBACK*
"Ugh, I have somewhere else to b-" Tom tried to say before trying to hightail it out of the main hall, only for Chef to catch him by the doorway. "Oh come on!"
"You and I are gonna have some fun!" Chef sinisterly told the fashionista, before taking him to where Chef would know.
The camera transitions to a few minutes later, with Chef Hatchet and Tom standing outside of a dense cave.
"All you have to do, boy, is walk in this dark, spooky cave!" Chef told him, "Until you find a bats' nest!"
"Do I have to?" whined Tom.
"You'll need this… this… and then this…" Chef gave Tom a flashlight, walkie-talkie and a black mask.
"What's the mask for?" Tom asked, curiously.
"For in case those bats are infected with some sort of disease." said Chef, "Never know, they might have something that's contagious!"
Before Tom could say anything else, he was shoved into the cave. And with that, Tom walked in there, shivering.
As soon as Tom was deep in the cave, he didn't know what to expect next. All he was doing was holding the black mask Chef gave him.
Suddenly, he heard screeching noises from nearby. He shined his flashlight to see a nest of bats circling around.
Shivering, he took out his walkie-talkie, "Uhh… Chef?" he asked, "I think I found the bats' nest. What should I do next?"
"What do you think, Einstein?" Chef's annoyed voice could be heard, "Walk over there, put that mask on, and stay there for one minute!"
Tom's eyes went wide. He didn't want to go near the bats' nest, but he also didn't want to let his team down with a loss.
After a few seconds, Tom walked over to the spot of the nest, and used the flashlight on the nest. The bats started screeching crazily as they started descending onto Tom.
The fashionista screamed like a little girl and started running away from the bat swarm, unaware that he dropped the mask and left it on the ground.
As soon as Tom makes it out of the cave, he sees Chef, who was tapping his foot, folding his arms, clearly unhappy with the fashionista.
"Ya screwed up." said Chef, before inspecting Tom, "Where's your mask?"
"Uhhhh…?" Tom looked around, forgetting that he dropped it.
"Go back in there and get it, boi!" Chef shouted at him, causing Tom to fall back. Fearfully, the fashionista ran back in the cave without another word.
Meanwhile, Harold was in the communal bathrooms, waiting for his turn. Little did he know, however, was that his turn had already begun.
The nerd perked up, and he heard mysterious figures sliding down from a rope from the top of the ceiling.
Outside of his stall were three men wearing ninja costumes. That's because they are actually ninjas!
Harold opened his stall door open, with his underwear still hanging, and he became shocked by the sight of the three ninjas encountering him. Each ninja went into positions to fight the nerd.
Without any fear, whatsoever, Harold took out a set of nunchucks, much to the ninjas' shock. Harold started circling it around, holding it on his left hand, before putting it on his right. It wouldn't be long until he whipped his nunchucks on all three ninjas' heads, knocking them out.
"And Harold gives the Killer Bass the lead!" Chris' voice was heard on the intercom.
Gophers - 0 / Bass - 1
"Yes!" Harold cheered, as he spun his nunchucks again, before he hit himself on the head, knocking himself out and getting him to fall into the toilet.
Elsewhere, Emma was standing outside with the rest of the teammates watching.
*FLASHBACK*
"You're afraid of spiders?" Cody asked.
"Yeah…" said Emma, "Ever since I was a kid."
*END OF FLASHBACK*
Emma saw the sight of something walk over in her direction. She backed up a few steps to get away from it… But the thing was already locking sight onto her.
It wouldn't be long until Emma ran away, screaming from Chef Hatchet, who was dressed in a light purple spider. The look on Chef's face could say, 'You can't even be humanly serious if you think I'm actually a real spider'.
Kitty, who was standing by the sidelines, saw how scared her older sister was.
*CONFESSIONAL: Kitty*
Kitty: Poor Emma… When it comes to spiders, she really loses her cool, to the point where after the spider is disposed of, she can't even be in the same room as another one. I know we're on different teams, but maybe I can be there for her… After all, I have tried to be there for her whenever she needs support.
*END CONFESSIONAL*
The camera shows the amphitheater, where there was a ladder that stood on the stage, and a mattress that stood on the bottom. The camera panned up to see Chris and Devin standing on top of a giant diving board.
"Devin," Chris began, "All you have to do is fall down this board, and you'll earn your team a point once you reach the bottom."
Devin collapsed and clutched on the board. He was too afraid to fall.
"Dude, you jumped down a thousand foot cliff, willingly." Chris pointed out, "Why're you chickening out here?"
Devin looked up to the host, "I-I'm sorry… It's just I didn't want to make a bad… first impression on TV…" he admitted.
*FLASHBACK*
Back on the first day, the Gophers were willing to jump down the thousand foot cliff. However, Devin, in particular, was trembling. He looked down from the edge of the cliff and he felt like he was going to faint. However, he had to hide it to show his team he wasn't weak.
"If you think heights and falling are the same thing… you're wrong." Devin narrated, "I get goosebumps easily when I think of falling freely… And I didn't want to let my team down by taking the chicken route…"
*END OF FLASHBACK*
"Aha… cool." said Chris, not caring in the slightest, "And if you felt like you were going to die, what would you say before?"
Devin sighed, "If this were a suicide fall, then I'd tell my family and friends I loved them. I also want to say someone that I'll especially miss is… Shelley.
"Shelley, huh?" Chris asked, intrigued with the girl in question, "Who is she?"
"My girlfriend…" Devin sighed, "She wanted to sign up for this game, but she had last-minute crap she had to take care of, she had me fill in for her."
"Touching…" said a smirking Chris, "I have one thing I need to say myself…" Chris stepped over to climb down the ladder, "The board you're on, is about to break apart…"
Devin's eyes went wide. Before anyone knew it, he dove down to the ground, screaming the entire way down.
The rest of the contestants could watch as they saw Devin fall all the way down, eventually landing on top of the mattress.
The camera showed Devin on the mattress, before he was met with cheers from his team.
"Devin stepped up to the plate," Chris narrated, "Scoring the Gophers their first point on the board."
Gophers - 1 / Bass - 1
In back of Devin, Chris jumped off the ladder, "Oh, and by the way, Devin?" he got the tech guy's attention, "I lied. That board wasn't about to break apart."
Devin hit his head on the mattress, "Now you tell me…" he said.
"Anything you want to say to your girlfriend who's probably watching this show at home?" asked Chris.
"Uh, Shelley, I hope you're watching this!" Devin waved to the camera, "I'm in it to win it, babe! You'll see!"
The camera cuts to Bridgette, who was sitting on top of a log. She was looking around, wondering if there were things coming her way.
"Bridgette began her six hours of solitude in the woods feeling pretty confident." Chris narrated.
"I'm not scared." Bridgette told herself, "Six hours out here is nothing." But her voice said otherwise.
Just then, a chipmunk walked over to her feet, squeaking towards the surfer girl.
Bridgette reacted as expected and kicked the poor chipmunk away like a soccer ball, getting it to fly all the way until it reached the lake.
Elsewhere, Benny was watching 'Murder at Happytown' in her cabin. She was trembling, because she knew that the scene of the scary clown was going to occur.
"While Benny is anticipating her fear of the scary clown from 'Murder at Happytown'." Chris narrated yet again.
The trembling Benny was trying to keep herself cool, "Ch-chill out… Ch-ch-chill…" she tried to say, "I know I can do this… It's just a movie… It's just a movie…"
Meanwhile, Kitty was being sat on a high chair, with a bib being wrapped around her.
"Are you sure we have to do this?" asked a nervous Kitty, "I mean, I really need to check on my sister…"
*FLASHBACK*
"I'm afraid of being ugly." said Kitty, "It's embarrassing if I see myself look like a troll…"
*END OF FLASHBACK*
"Kitty, your sister's not your main priority…" Chris told her, "All you have to do is have your face be designed in how I'm gonna make it be."
"Are you going to make me into a troll?" asked Kitty.
"No." Chris shook his head.
"A sad panda?"
"No."
"An ogre?"
"No!"
"A horse with no eyes and a giant overbite?"
"I don't even know what that is!" Chris said, exasperated, "Look, I'm gonna make you into what I want… Don't worry, you'll be fine." He took out a makeup box. Just then, his wristwatch started beeping. "Hold on. I have to do something quick…"
Chris got up and started out the door, but not before giving Kitty a warning, "You leave here, you get nothing! Understand?" When the photographer nodded, the host walked off.
As soon as he was gone, Kitty tiptoed to check the makeup box. When she opened the lid of the box, she gasped.
Meanwhile, the rest of the cast was on the beach, surrounding Jasmine, who was shivering. She was standing in front of a glass box buried in sand. Chris had walked up with a shovel in his hands.
"You still on Australian time?" Chris asked her with a chuckle, "I actually don't know if it's ahead of us or behind, but you get the joke."
"Okay…" Jasmine said, semi-confident, "Just gonna get inside that small glass box. Then I'll be buried with no way out… Let's do this!" Jasmine fell down and went into fetal position.
"That's the spirit!" exclaimed 'Sammy', "Now get going!" Jasmine gulped as she looked at the glass box again.
The next scene showed Jasmine, who was still shivering, as she laid inside her glass box. Chris was using his shovel to put mountains of sand over it.
"Don't worry," said Amy, "There's enough air for an hour. Five minutes ain't gonna be that bad!"
"As long as we decide to dig you up." joked Chris, who slapped another hill of sand on the box.
"Not funny, McLean!" Jasmine retorted.
"Sheesh, take a pill…" Chris said, applying yet another hill of sand.
"Here," 'Sammy' gave Jasmine a walkie-talkie, "If you need any help, let me know, and I'll help dig you out."
"Well if you know that I'm gonna be in trouble, I can trust ya." said Jasmine, as the camera showed Cody and Monica exchanging fearful looks and Emma, who was hiding behind Winston, shaking her head.
"Well anyways, catch you later, world…" said Jasmine, as she smiled at 'Sammy', who closed the glass door.
As Chris applied more sand on top of the box, the rest of the contestants dispersed.
'Sammy', in particular, went further into the forest with her walkie-talkie.
*CONFESSIONAL: Amy*
Amy: I don't need to act like Samey anymore… Nah, I'm just gonna impersonate her and make everyone think she's a grody no-life, and then these morons will see how yucky she is, they'll all turn to mwah!
*END CONFESSIONAL*
Amy looked around the forest, until she found a bush covered in thorns nearby. Smirking, she tossed the walkie-talkie underneath there.
"Yeah, catch you later, indeed…" chuckled 'Sammy', "Unfortunately you won't be catching anything… for a while…"
The camera showed the walkie-talkie way underneath the bush, as Amy's footsteps were heard walking away from it, until the screen started fading to black.
Screaming Gophers - Emma, Tom, Cody, Amy, Jasmine, Monica, Devin, & Winston
Killer Bass - Kitty, Ezekiel, Benny, Duncan, Harold, Bridgette, Sam, Ennui, & Chelsea
Alright, that ends the first part of Phobia Factor! The Bass and Gophers are tied at 1 in the challenge. However, one of these teams is going to win big!
For those of you who are curious, yes, I added Shelley again like in the canon, and had her be Devin's girlfriend. However, unlike the canon, where Devin mentions her every now and then, I won't make her play a role in Devin's character... yet. Maybe I will. I'll mention her, but she won't have as much as in the canon.
Amy has discussed her new strategy in impersonating her sister. How long will it take until it gets foiled? How long until Amy finally gets exposed?
This episode is going to be nearly uneventful. However, rest assure that things are going to be something special real soon! Stay tuned for the next chapter!
