Author's Notes: Yes I know quite surprising a new chapter four days after the last one. I'm planning to make this the new schedule I'm not as swamped with schoolwork anymore so this will definitely be more frequent.
Logan knew what he had to do if he wanted to survive. He couldn't count on eventually being found by Aasim and Louis when they went hunting. He took a deep breath and carefully stood on a branch preparing himself for the jump. Logan got a two step running start and jumped. He managed to get to a different tree but his arm was cut by the jagged bark on the tree.
"Oh god damn it," Logan groaned.
The walkers didn't really notice that he changed trees and kept trying to knock the old one down.
"Shit am I gonna get some sort of disease from this?" Logan asked himself, "Better hope I don't step on some rusty shit I haven't had a tetanus shot in over ten years."
Logan prepared himself for another jump. He knew he couldn't afford to get his other arm cut since the cut one was already hurting like hell and it hadn't even been a minute. He transitioned himself from the trunk to a strong branch and got ready to make another jump. The tree he was jumping to was a pine tree so it would be easier to land on a branch and not fall to his death. Logan slipped as he jumped but made it to the pine tree. Letting out a sigh of relief he attempted to pull himself up on top of the branch he was holding. The branch couldn't support the strain and snapped which led Logan to fall. He was hitting many branches on the tree breaking some. He fell from twenty feet up in the pine tree. Logan laid at the bottom of the tree in the dead red pine needles.
"Oh god," Logan coughed.
Only a few of the walkers noticed and approached him while the rest stayed at the tree trunk.
"Everything hurts oh god damn it," Logan groaned quickly trying to get up.
He got himself on his feet and started running towards the school.
"Thank god my legs aren't broken," Logan said to himself.
Eventually he made it back to the school and opened the gate. The only people out were Aasim who was at Ruby's grave and Omar who was making breakfast. Logan got himself into the admin building and used some of the stored water to clean himself up. Luckily the bleeding on his arm stopped so he was careful to clean that off so he wouldn't reopen the wound. He finished that up and realized he didn't see any trace of Maren on the way back and her foot was injured! So even with talking to Bob and the whole tree thing he ran the whole way back which would've taken less time than Maren limping back. That would mean she disappeared without a trace or was picked up by Aasim and Louis. Except Aasim was at Ruby's grave and Louis was probably asleep.
Logan decided to get some rest and think it over when he woke up. On his way back upstairs he noticed that Nico wasn't in bed which was surprising as he tended to sleep late. He took off his shoes and collapsed on his bed.
At some point he woke up to the smell of chili and woke up to see Henry eating.
"Oh good morning dude," Henry said, "Noticed you were still asleep and it's past noon so here's some lunch."
Henry passed Logan a plate.
"Thanks man," Logan said, sitting up and starting to eat.
"So how'd you get that cut bro?" Henry asked.
"Oh uh long story," Logan replied.
"Let me guess you thought Maren was doing sketchy shit and did something stupid," Henry chuckled.
Logan facepalmed.
"Oh you're serious?" Henry asked.
"She was leaving at the crack of dawn! Alone! That's suspicious!" Logan explained.
"So you go after her alone instead of using common sense!" Henry replied, "But dude she's changed you have to see that sooner or later."
"Oh give me a goddamn break!" Logan muttered, "You forgive her because she allegedly changed? She got Lukas killed! She said awful things! She has done awful things! How could you possibly think she changed?"
"LIfe's not black and white man, I don't think you realize that. Everyone can make mistakes," Henry answered.
"Oh so someone can make the mistake of intentionally telling people how to get in our community and kill us all?" Logan asked, "Who do you think told them about the little support beams that kept the floor from falling down. That roasted Cecily, Samantha, and Ashlyn alive for god's sake! She may have fooled you and everyone else but not me!"
"She hasn't had much time to redeem herself yet! Remember that guy from Alexandria, what was his name, Rick? He gave the baseball bat dude another chance," Henry said.
"No that it matters now the Whisperers probably destroyed it like they destroyed Riverside," Logan replied.
Henry checked his watch and sweared.
"Damn I'm late for my lunch date thing with Mary, I'll catch you later," Henry said leaving the room.
Logan sighed and looked out the window. He could see Maren talking to AJ.
"Wait a minute…. what the hell!" Logan gasped, "She survived?"
Logan ran out of the room and bumped into Louis.
"Hey watch it," Louis said.
"Sorry," Logan replied.
Logan burst out the door and ran over to where they were sitting.
"Oh hey, Logan," AJ said.
"Hey kid I just wanted to see what you were up to," Logan said glaring at Maren.
"Not much Maren was telling me about Riverside," AJ replied.
"Oh hmm Riverside did she get to what happened at the end?" Logan asked.
"No, not yet," AJ answered.
"Oh well I can happily finish the story for you," Logan said.
"Really?" AJ asked.
"How about you go find Clem, AJ," Maren said.
"Okay," AJ replied, getting up to leave.
"Of course you omitted the part about you being responsible for everyone dying," Logan scoffed.
"Listen Logan I get it, you don't think I've changed, but that was the biggest mistake of my life," Maren explained.
"I'd call Lukas' brains purposely being blown out more than a mistake!" Logan growled, "Same thing with Cecily, Samantha, and Ashlyn being burned alive, because of your friends!"
"I've changed, let me make it up to you, I'm going on a supply run with the others you can come if you want. I'll show you how much I've changed," Maren replied.
"Let me think about it for a second," Logan replied.
