Today was Mandy's surgery. The audio for the implant wasn't going to be installed for a month. She needed time to heal first. She and John were at the hospital. They were wheeling Mandy to the OR and stopped for a second.
Give me a hug. John signed. They hugged and kissed. I love you Mandy.
I love you too John. She signed.
I'll be right here when you get back.
Four and a half hours later John was called to the recovery room. Mandy was laying down.
Hi. John signed.
Hi. Mandy signed.
How are you feeling?
Ok, but I want to go home.
I know but we can't yet.
Later that night Mandy was upstairs laying down. John brought her soup.
Thank you. She signed. Please stay. Hegot in bed next to her.
Will you still love me with this thing sticking out of my head?
You can barely notice it. John signed.
That's very sweet of you but I know that's a lie.
After you eat we need to change your bandages.
Ok.
After she ate John changed Mandy's bandages.
Thank you for taking such good care of me. Mandy signed.

Lay down with me. They laid down. She kissed him. I love you.

Mandy was getting the audio put into the implant in two days. She recovered well. John was on the road. The phone lit up.
"Hello?" She said.
"Hi." John said.
"Hi."
"What are you doing?"
"Sitting here thinking about you."
"Miss me?"
"Yeah."
"I miss you to."
"I can't wait to see you tomorrow."
"Me neither." "Mandy I've been thinking about what you told me." "I think you should tell Randy."
"I don't think I can do that."
"If the situation were reversed, wouldn't you want to know?"
"I don't want to talk about it."
Two days later Mandy and John were at the hospital. The doctor had just installed the audio.
"Can you hear me?' The doctor asked.
"Yes." Mandy said.
"Good.' "Look at your husband." She did. "John say hi to Mandy."
"Hi Mandy." John said.
"So that's what you sound like." She said smiling with tears in her eyes. They hugged.
