Day 28 - From trustingHim17: Hidden injury
A/N: 221B, and a follow-up to Mrs Hudson and Lestrade working on a case together. Happy New Year! (I didn't fall as far behind this year at least.)
.
.
After seeing the list of ingredients stolen, Mrs Hudson nodded and said, "I know where we can find the culprit."
Lestrade started. "You do?"
"Yes, the rare ingredients are what confirms it, the saffron, chocolate, and vanilla extract – this year there is a Christmas baking competition downtown with generous prizes, no doubt the thief has plans to enter."
"I'll call my men, have them infiltrate the place," Lestrade said, standing and brushing crumbs from his clothes.
"No need for all that," Mrs Hudson said, "I'll enter the contest, and we'll infiltrate that way. I just need you to run to the Market for a few more ingredients."
Lestrade agreed, and set out to find the items on Mrs Hudson's list, while the latter filled the kitchen with a flurry of stirring, kneading, rolling and baking.
"One more thing," Lestrade whispered, as they entered the contest together. "My men noticed blood on a sharp shard of glass at the last crime scene. Our thief is likely injured."
Mrs Hudson greeted neighbors, fellow bakers, and contest judges, all were impressed with her baking skills. And even Holmes would be impressed with her skills of observation, when she noticed one baker favoring the left arm.
And that is the story of how Mrs Hudson solved Lestrade's case, and won first place with her baking.
