Clank! Clank! Clank!
Those were the sounds Bakura heard as he continued to hit his hammer against the sword. It had to be the perfect shape and weight before he could sharpen it. Once its complete, he'll be able to use it effectively against his opponents. Having a forged sword made by his own two hands or by an expert blacksmith is better than having an unprepared sword in battle.
Hitting the sword one more time, he placed the hammer on the ground and wiped his sweaty forehead. No longer in his armor but in peasant clothes that were easy for him to move around in, Bakura picked up his sword by its hilt and went over to his seat where his tools are. Sitting down on the stool, he brought them out and started cleaning his sword before sharpening it.
As he sharpened his sword, he recalled the meeting they had this morning. Not only did the prince saw his counterpart again, but Bakura also saw his counterpart for the first time. Since Malik was aiding them, he and the other 3 are now considered wanted in the kingdom. Anyone who has information and is able to find them will be rewarded greatly by the prince himself, but must be brought to him alive with no injuries.
For the little girl and animals, the prince will make sure no harm comes to them since they are considered pure and innocent in this desolate world. That statement made him scoff, not knowing what their true personalities would be like. After meeting the younger half brother of C. Seto Rokenkreuz, the kid inherited his older half brother's personality and is known to be prideful on what he does.
This made Bakura wary of strangers, especially children. Some are good, some are bad, and some don't know what the world is truly like. Even for him, he was lucky to have someone to help him become a strong knight before he had to grow up fast. He didn't have any friends, and he'd rather eat dirt than consider the prince as a friend. A potential ally is a better word, and he obviously doesn't need friends.
Though he is curious on why that boy resembled Henry, and why his brother resembled him. He knew he didn't have any siblings or relatives, but something about him seemed familiar, almost like he met that boy before.
The question is ….. Where?
Shaking his head at the thought, he focused on sharpening his sword, wanting to make sure there were no mistakes on them. The little girl named Amane did resemble his counterpart, and that rabbit wasn't even afraid of him. Whoever that boy is and where he's from, he already intrigued Bakura.
A small chuckle escaped his lips as he remembered his look-alike calling the prince a pervert. He had never seen Henry look so mad, and his counterpart wasn't even afraid of him. They were still glaring at each other, and it amused him. No one had been brave enough to insult the prince while maintaining direct eye contact, and it was hilarious. Plus, Henry did mentioned on interrogating his counterpart, so whatever he did caused his own look-alike to call the prince a pervert.
Perfect blackmail material to use for future emergencies.
He is curious on whom his counterpart is, and wanted to know his name. If the reason he can't reveal his name is due to his lineage, then he's either related to someone famous or someone wanted. Either way, he must focus on his duties first: helping the House of Lancaster end the war for control of England along with the throne.
Holding his finished sword in front of him, he inspected every part of it and did a satisfying nod. "Once this war is over, I'll definitely find my counterpart and know his name and lineage." He pulled out the pendant hidden under his top, gazing at the white lily painted on the center. "I'll also find you, my masked lily. You too interest me."
Ryou can feel Amane clutching onto him, while Thumper remained on his shoulders and Snowflake is held in Malik's arms. The battle between Yugi and the Labyrinth Ruler is an intense one, and also worrying. The Labyrinth Ruler summoned a monster called 'Kazejin', and its special effect is making the opponent's monster's attack points 0 when it targets Kazejin. That attack made Yugi lose his monster 'Chaos Command Magician' when it tried to attack Kazejin.
Luckily, Yugi still has his other monsters with a couple of spell and trap cards in place, and his deck leader 'Silent Magician' is still safe. As for the Labyrinth Ruler, he has his Kazejin, his deck leader 'Monster Tamer', and another monster in attack position along with a spell card attached to the deck leader. Yugi now has 1200 life points left, and the Labyrinth Ruler has 1000 life points left remaining.
"I almost forgot about his monster Kazejin. Its special effect makes it tricky to destroy it in battle, unless Yugi has a spell or trap card that can remove that monster from the field. If not, then there's a chance he won't win," Malik replied, silently cursing himself for agreeing on coming here to Newcastle.
Ryou shook his head at him. "Yugi will win! No matter what situation he is in, he would always pull through. We must believe in him."
"B-Big brother Yugi can win this!" Amane stuttered.
"Meow!"
"Squeak!"
"I too believe in him, but it still doesn't look good for him," Malik frowned while watching the match. "He'll need to avoid attacking that monster, and find a way to get through to where he can defeat the Monster Tamer."
Yugi heard what Malik said, and frowned as he knew how correct he is. He made the mistake in having his Chaos Command Magician attack that monster, not knowing what its special effect is. Luckily, his life points are safe but hanging on at 1200. Drawing a card, he looked at it and placed it face down near his monster 'Maiden of the Moonlight', and having her move near Kazejin.
"A foolish move! No one can ever beat my Kazejin!" Labyrinth Ruler brought his hand out. "This match is over! Attack at once!"
As Kazejin is about to attack, Yugi made his move. "I reveal my trap card Mirror Force!"
A card moved up to reveal it, causing Kazejin to get hit by its own attack and get destroyed along with the other face up monster. The move surprised Labyrinth Ruler, who then growled. "This isn't possible! Why would you have a card like that?!"
"Its handy just in case I need something to help me," Yugi answered. "And since Mirror Force destroys all attack position monsters you control, that means your field is free of monsters, leaving you to be defenseless from mine!"
He swept his arm out. "Maiden of the Moonlight, attack with Lunar Crescent Strike!"
Maiden of the Moonlight's wings started to glow bright white, causing her to unfold them as it unleashes a powerful attack at the deck leader. Thanks to a spell card attack to her that increases her attack points, the attack caused heavy damage on Monster Tamer, causing the Labyrinth Ruler's life points to drop down to 0.
Labyrinth Ruler's eyes widened in disbelief, gritting his teeth in anger as he hung his head in shame. "Unbelievable! You've won yourself a light to guide you out of this labyrinth!" Getting something from his sleeve, he threw a card at Yugi as the field returned to normal. "You may have won, but the Yorks will never lose the war!"
The fog covered the entire area, and it soon cleared away. The Labyrinth Ruler was nowhere to be seen, and the sky started to clear up with light breaking through from the grey clouds. Yugi sighed in relief to feel some sun hitting against his skin, and looked at the White Rose card in his hand. Now they have 4 cards in possession, and 4 more would mean they would have a total of 8 White Rose cards.
Placing the card back in his pocket and his deck in his deck holder, Yugi felt his brother hugging him along with Amane and their pets. Laughing, he turned around and hugged them back. "Don't worry. I was able to win and obtained a rose card before he vanished. He won't bother us again."
"Congratulations on defeating that monster, Yugi," Malik patted his shoulder. "I never thought someone else would have the card 'Mirror Force' like the prince."
"Huh!? Yami also has the card Mirror Force!?"
Ryou face-palmed. "Now we need to make sure we avoid him and his members no matter what."
Malik placed his hands up in surrender. "That's what I was told. However, we'll need to leave before someone sees us and informs the prince and his group about us being here. Can't let ourselves get captured."
"You're right about that," Yugi said. "Where should we go then?"
"The Kingdom of Lancashire is where you must go!"
Yugi turned his head and gasped. "M-Mako?"
Mako greeted them with a smile. "Hello there! Nice to see you all again!"
"You as well," Ryou greeted back. "And what do you mean the Kingdom of Lancashire? We can't go back there." He then paled. "H-How did you even know where we were?"
"That is a secret!" Mako placed a finger near his lips while winking. "However, I was ordered to come find you guys and bring you there. He wanted to meet you, Yugi. He somehow heard about you and your brother originating from a different era."
"He?" Yugi asked. "Who ordered you to come find us?"
"I'll let you know after I take you to him, so please follow me to my boat and I'll explain on the way."
"Hold on! Is it Seto Rosenkreuz who ordered you!?" Malik asked, giving him a suspicious look. "You usually take orders from him."
Mako shook his head. "Its not Lord Rosenkreuz. It's actually the master of the Rose Crusaders."
"Master of the Rose Crusaders?" Ryou quirked his eyebrow. "Is it Queen Beaufort?"
"I'll explain everything on the way. Please trust me on this. I really don't want to get scolded if I failed in bringing you to Lancashire," Mako pleaded. "I promise you it's not a trap. I swear I will tell you all the truth, so please come with me."
Yugi's eyebrows scrunched up in confusion, and then realization dawned on him. He has a pretty good guess on who that person could be, but to confirm it; he'll have to go with Mako to where the person is. Since they have no choice, Yugi took a step forward. "Please show us the way."
"Ah! Welcome! Welcome! I'm thrilled to have you all here!"
He cooed in delight as he ushered them to come closer, while resting on his throne. "Do not be shy. I just want a closer look at you all."
Yugi bowed, his eyes not leaving the person on the throne. "It is an honor to meet you, Lord Stanley."
"No need for such formalities. Just call me Pegasus. We are all friends here."
Dressed in a red, royal attire with golden stripes on it that outline his outfit with a matching blue cape hung around his shoulders, his snow-colored hair nearly hid one of his eyes as he smiled cheerfully at them. "How delightful! So you're the famed Rose Duelist!"
Malik nearly tripped, and quickly regained his composure. "W-We beg your pardon, your majesty!?"
A melodious laugh escaped from Pegasus's lips. "Seto has told me much about you, dear Duelist. At first I didn't believe him, but my sources gave me proof on what he said being true." He stood up from his seat and pointed his finger at Yugi. "You young man are the Rose Duelist everyone is searching for!"
"What!?" Ryou looked at his brother in disbelief. "I-It can't be true!"
"H-Hold on just a minute! There must be some sort of misunderstanding here!" Yugi frantically waved his hands. "The Rose Duelist is only a legend! I'm sure you're confusing me for Prince Henry! He could be the Rose Duelist you're looking for!"
Pegasus walked down the steps of his throne, and shook his head with an amused expression. "My step-son isn't the Rose Duelist, little boy. He only has 1 White Rose card, while you have 4. Only the Rose Duelist is able to collect all the Rose Cards, and must be from a different era." He stopped at a good distance in front of Yugi. "Luckily, he and his friends are not within the kingdom. They have travelled somewhere by ship, and won't be back until dusk approaches. Till then, I have plenty of time to finally defeat you."
Yugi shook his head at him. "There must be a mistake, Lord Pegasus. I do not know why Seto Rosenkreuz would tell you I'm the Rose Duelist, but there's no proof I am one. You have the wrong person."
"Oh I'm not wrong at all, Yugi-boy."
Ryou gasped, and then glared at Mako. "You told him who we are!?"
Mako placed his hands up. "I had no other choice. I cannot disobey my lords, or I will be severely punished for treason. I humbly apologize, but I was told that he only wanted to battle your brother."
"No one was supposed to know about them!" Malik hissed.
Amane kept herself hidden behind Ryou, while peeking out to look at Pegasus. Snowflake and Thumper are with her, and they examined the area to see how huge the castle is. There were guards stationed nearby keeping an eye on them to make sure they won't attack their king.
Pegasus snapped his fingers, silencing everyone as he gazed at them. "Seto has taught me a thing or two about dueling." He brought his deck out, and the field began to change. "So come on! Lets duel!"
Realizing he won't listen to them until they defeated him, Yugi brought his deck out and they both summoned their deck leaders: Silent Magician and Illusionist Faceless Mage. The terrain changed to resemble a story from a fairytale, and it felt odd to Yugi. He ignored it and focused on his opponent, who summoned a monster on the field.
"I summon Dark Rabbit in attack mode," Pegasus said as a cartoon rabbit with dark fur, armor, giant gloved hands, and a funny face with its tongue sticking out appeared on the field while laughing hysterically. "Next I summon a spell card known as Negative Energy, and doubles the attack of all face-up dark monsters."
The spell caused Dark Rabbit's attack points to double to 2200 attack points. He then placed a card face down. "I end my turn. Your move, Yugi-boy."
Yugi drew a card, looked at it along with the cards held in his hand, and summoned a monster on his field. "I summon Maiden of the Moonlight in attack mode!" He then placed another card on the field. "I play the spell card Mystical Space Typhoon! I can target 1 spell or trap card on the field and destroy it! The card I destroy is Negative Energy!"
A typhoon came from out of the card and headed towards the spell card, causing it to get destroyed and Dark Rabbit's attack points were back to 1100 attack points. "Maiden of the Moonlight, attack Dark Rabbit!"
Maiden of the Moonlight unleashed her attack and destroyed Dark Rabbit, causing Pegasus to lose 400 life points. Yugi then placed a card on the field. "I set a card face down, and end my turn."
"Not bad at all. However, I'm just getting warmed up," Pegasus smirked as he drew a card and looked at the cards in his hands.
The scent of red roses overwhelmed his nostrils, scattered around the garden as he passed by them. Besides the red roses, there were a few flowers planted so it would look like a floral garden created by magic. For him, it's like an enchanted forest with a secret garden only shown to him and not to anyone else.
This place is his and Shadow's secret place where no one can bother them whenever they need some alone time. Besides his mother knowing this garden, he remembered bringing someone here. Someone who captured his heart and brought light to his enchanted garden.
A giggle that reminded him of bells caught his attention, and that's when his eyes saw her: golden locks with streaks of black and purple tied into a braid with floral decorations on them, bangs that resemble his own, a beautiful purple dress that hugged her frame to reveal her delicate curves, milky skin that was revealed from her face and shoulders, and a mask covering her face.
She curtsied as her pink lips stretched to form a gentle smile. "Greetings, your majesty~"
"My purple rose," he slowly placed his hand on her cheek, caressing it with his thumb. "I have found you."
She placed her hand on his. "You have, my lord~ I am happy you found me~" She then placed her hand on his chest, where the pendant is hanging around his neck. "You found my necklace? Oh thank you, Yami! I thought I lost it!"
A warm smile appeared on his face, gently grabbing her hand and bringing it close to his mouth as he placed a kiss on her knuckles. "It pleases me to hear that you're happy to see me, and yes, I did found your necklace. I looked everywhere for you so I can return it and see you again."
"You're so kind, my prince. I must repay you for finding my treasure."
"There's no need. All I ask is to see your face and know your name."
She tilted her head at him, and her eyes softened. "You wish to see my face, my lord?"
"Along with your name. Please let me know who you are," he pulled her close to him, their bodies pressed against each other as he cupped her cheeks. "Please, my beautiful purple rose. Its all I ever ask for."
"If that is what you wish for, I shall grant it~"
Smiling in satisfaction at her answer, he carefully undid the knot at the back of her head that kept her mask in place. As he untied it and slowly removed it, his crimson eyes focused on her amethyst colored eyes as her lips moved in a soft whisper.
"My name is…"
A loud gasp escaped his lips as his eyes were shot wide open. Quickly sitting up, he rubbed his head and looked around to see he was in a room. Spotting the porthole next to his bed, he remembered he was on a boat with his friends. They were returning back home to the kingdom after leaving Newcastle.
One of the guards informed them that someone saw a boy who resembled the prince, and a boy who resembled Bakura. They even remember seeing a boy in a cloak, along with a little girl, kitten, and bunny. Knowing it was his mysterious look-alike, he ordered a ship ready to set sail to Newcastle before they could leave.
Sadly, they were too late but were able to get information on where they were headed. A Yorkist took them towards the Kingdom of Lancashire, and the ship is now heading towards that region. He came down here to look at the map resting on the desk, and somehow fell asleep on his bed.
Yami fished the pendant necklace out, admiring the painted purple rose while stroking it with his thumb. "You even haunt me in my dreams, my purple rose." He placed a small kiss on the pendant. "I was so close in seeing your face and knowing your name. Why won't my dreams let me know who you are?"
Resting his back against the pillow, he placed a finger on his lips, remembering how soft and sweet her lips were when he first kissed her. "Lips red as blood. Skin white as milk. Hair gold as the sun. Eyes purple as amethyst." He lifted his head to gaze at the ceiling. "Touch soft like petals. Scent intoxicating like flowers. Body divine as a temple. Why do you make me feel like this, my purple rose? Are you an angel? A princess? Were you born from a rose?"
He got off the bed and to the porthole, gazing at the sea where he can see the kingdom nearby. Placing his hand on his chest, he could feel it thumping against his ribcage. "My heart yearns for you. Alas, I cannot find you. Please give me a sign on where you could be."
An image of his counterpart appeared in his head, and his heart continued to thump against his chest. "And I must know who you are as well, my little one. What is your name, and which kingdom are you from? Why do you share my features? But most of all, why do I feel like I am placed under a spell whenever I gaze at your eyes that shine like gems? Who exactly are you?"
What do you all think? Next chapter will show some action, so please review and don't forget to check out my one-shot story! Thank you!
