"What did you do?" Kyoya asked. She only shook her head and tried to catch her breath. To Kyoya's shock, Tamaki reached out to steady her with his bloody hands. Though the area around his eye still had the remnants of gore the actual injury had been healed to the point of being indiscernible.

The woman was still very much in the same shape as before, and it was clear the only reason she was still standing was the arm Tamaki had wrapped around her shoulders. Her expression was confused, and she was visibly exhausted to the point that she didn't bother covering her exposed front. "You weren't supposed to do anything," she whispered to Tamaki, who took off his dirty shirt, placed it around her shoulders and gathered her in his arms. The woman clung to him as he stood, the height difference being obvious, and suddenly looked more her age. "Why did you do that?"

Tamaki looked lost for words, and Kyoya didn't blame him. What kind of woman got angry at someone for protecting her? What kind of woman glowed? Then Kyoya recalled all of the times the woman had goaded on the violence while playing this brash and bull-headed character; He recalled all the bravado she had specifically shown them, and the strangely intense urge she seemed to possess to help them without second guessing or even asking.

"Who are you?" Kyoya asked her.

"Higurashi, Kagome," she told him. Her eyes rolled back and fluttered, then opened forcibly in a show of fighting unconsciousness. "We need to go now. They'll kill us if we're found here now."

"What was that power?"

"We need to leave," Kagome insisted. "Now."

The concept of leaving was daunting; They had no idea how to get back home, no idea how to even exit the building they were in. Kyoya wasn't sure if their scuffle was heard, or if they were now alone. A look at Tamaki told him he wasn't alone in his doubts. But she was right- they'd be killed for this man's death.

"What do we do?" Kyoya murmured, suddenly finding himself choked up. Absurdly, the words of the Hippocratic Oath came to him: Primum non nocere... he had once wanted nothing more than to be a doctor. Now, he just wanted another day, another hour. Kyoya shook his head, placed his face into one of his hands, and then pointed at the man's body with the other. "I think there might be more supplies on him."

"I'll check it," Kagome muttered, and detached herself from Tamaki's grip. Kyoya watched her limp towards the Yakuza's body and methodically go through its pockets and pouches. When she crouched, she did it slowly to not agitate her back.

She's already calling him an it, Kyoya thought dazedly. At what point does a human being become an it?
