After the event, Catherine, Steve and his advisors returned to the hotel. The advisors wanted to talk to Steve and gathered in his room while Catherine went to her room. A while later, Steve knocked on the inside door of her room. "They're gone."
Catherine opened the door and smiled. "Hi."
"Hi," Steve came in and hugged her.
The next day she woke up and he was wrapping a lock of her hair with his finger. "Good morning," Steve said to her when she opened her eyes.
"Good morning, Mr. Governor," she answered.
"Why are you calling me Mr. Governor?" He asked.
"Because you were great yesterday, you talked to the other governors on equal terms and proved that you are handsome and intelligent."
"Do you think so?" Steve asked.
"Yes, I'm sure of it. You did very well."
"Thank you. We have to leave today. It's a shame, I'm so enjoying being here with you," he said and kissed her pulling her at him.
After breakfast, they packed their bags and went to the airport with the advisors. This time the advisors sat in the next row and Steve could not give Catherine the attention he wanted.
When they landed in Hawaii, the advisors left and Steve and Catherine went to his house. She would leave him there and take her car to go home.
"Stay a little longer," Steve asked.
"No, your friends are at home and I need to go see my aunt, I haven't seen her for four days and she must be missing me.
"It's okay. See you tomorrow?" he asked.
"Tomorrow is Lincoln's day. I need some time off, right?"
"We don't need to see each other just at work," he said.
"Okay. Call me and we'll mark something," she answered pretending to snob him.
Steve walked her to her car and kissed her before she got in the car. "Bye," she said to him.
"Bye, I miss you already," Steve told her.
Catherine smiled and drove away.
The next day, Steve worked normally and the night took Catherine to dinner.
"How is your aunt?" Steve asked.
"She's fine, as much as possible. She even called me by my name and that's good. You know, my aunt played a very important role in my childhood. She always took me for a walk, took care of me when my mom needed to travel with my dad, took me to travel with her sometimes and supported me when I lost my parents".
Steve put his hand on her hand. "Now you can give back a little of that love."
"Yes. I don't mind if most of the time she doesn't know who I am, because I know who she is."
"You're beautiful inside and out."
Catherine smiled with his compliment and he kissed her hand. "Where have you been all my life?" She asked.
After dinner, Steve took her to her house. "Do you want to come in?" Catherine asked him.
"I really wanted to come in and stay with you, but Danny asked me to help him analyze a case and I promised him I'd help him when I got back. Will you be mad at me?"
"No, of course not. But I need a little kiss before you leave," she answered.
They kissed and then Catherine got out of the car. She waved at him and saw him leave. She took the keys out of her purse to open the door and realized that the door was open.
"That's strange," she thought. She was unarmed and gave up entering the house. She took the phone to call Steve back when someone covered her mouth with his hand and pulled her into the house.
Steve arrived home happy and smiling and Danny was waiting for him with a stack of papers.
"Hey, how was dinner?" Danny asked. "Or rather, you don't need answer me. By your silly face I can see it was good."
"Yes, it was good, Danny. The more I know her, the more I like her."
"Wow! Steve in love!"
Steve just smiled and didn't say yes or no.
The next day, he woke up tired because he was analyzing the case with Danny until late. He got dressed to go to work, prepared breakfast, and waited for Catherine. But she didn't show up.
